At least you can rush it pretty well. If you got something locked behind Leyndell, you're fricked six ways from sunday and have to slog through a bunch of bullshit.
No need for that, just grab the Dectus medallions and pay Boggart for Rya's pendant, then talk to her for the teleport over to Volcano Manor. Not that bad. Think you'll have to deal with Godskin Nobel though, if I remember the layout correctly.

Oh that's right, forgot Rya did that. I don't have trouble with Godskins for some reason, they're one of the easier bosses for me, so it shouldn't be too bad.
You could just do the skip to Volcano manor from Raya Lucaria. If you die to the abductor virgin at the very bottom of the raya lucaria elevator, you get teleported to volcano manor, where you can jump down to the lava, then beat godskin noble, and move on to Rykard. No need for dectus medallions, you just need to make sure to die to the attack where the abductor pulls you inside of it.

Well it's not easy, but that's what I did on my last playthrough. You can cheese him if you really need to as well, just bait him into the roll attack then jump attack him safely from the other side of one of the pillars. I think there's also a glitch to break his AI so he doesn't attack you.

Godskin homosexuals are fine if you just make them fall asleep.
Doing a run with this pissed me off so bad, because I learned that many bosses have collisions bigger than their hitboxes. You basically have to hug Malenia's c**t to not whiff because her collision doesn't let you get close enough to touch her hitbox half the time and Maliketh was even worse.
I didn't know that the one handed R2 of that weapon had hyper armor, it's actually pretty fun to use it alongside a shield or casting tool.
Against players it can even poise through some big weapons like greatswords if used alongside the Bullgoat's Talisman.
I can't dual wield anything larger than a straight sword because I hate how the weapon in your offhand is held like it's completely weightless. It just looks so unpolished, like the whole idea was implemented last second and they had no time to make new idles.
I like that it looks stupid. There is nothing more moronic looking in the game than jumping on top of a wizard with two massive unga bunga sticks in my hands. Funniest shit ever.
In Godfrey's time, men were absolute chads who could smash a dragon's head in without a problem.
Then Marika kicked him out, put some book loving nerd in charge, and everyone became a weakling.
Kirkhammer, my beloved.
None of the weapons in ER has come close to feeling as good to use as the trick weapons in Bloodborne. I'm gonna be very upset if there isn't a Beast Cutter-like weapon in the DLC.
Hell, even the Holy Moonlight Sword is way better than the Dark Moon Greatsword. >HMLS had it's R2, charged R2, backstep R2, dodge R2, dash R2 and leaping R2 all launch moonlight beams with the unique L2 thrusting attack on top of all that >DMGS has... it's R2+R2 combo, and also it's charged R2s which is just the same attack but the beam goes a little bit further and does more damage... also it has to be charged up first with L2, because frick the L2 at least being the poke
I have to conclude, that, unfortunately, trick weapons in BB were mostly a failure of the concept. Or rather a failed implementation of the concept. There's little synergy or incentive to switch between the two forms of the weapons, and untricked form mostly being some short range swingy stick, completely devoid of personality. All those short form sawblades, swords and maces feel exactly the same. And in some cases, like Chikage, the tricked and untricked form even use completely different stat scaling, making half the weapon unusable for your build. But, as I said, most of them failed, but not all. Most notably the two whip weapons presented great variety of attacks between two forms, as well as the natural flow to transformation attacks, depending on the distance. Oh, and the small things like "serrated" modifier in whip form.
BB tried but failed to capture the design of transforming weapons from Monster Hunter.
Never played ER, how different is it from 3? I used to like watching 3 invasion videos but all the ER ones seem to be "one-shot with your art of war" and not nearly as entertaining
>I used to like watching 3 invasion videos but all the ER ones seem to be "one-shot with your art of war" and not nearly as entertaining
Try watching saint riot. He sometimes does this weird... "so le random schtick" dialogue that I hate, but you can just skip those videos. He does normal stuff too. And he absolutely refuses to use meta stuff, often making really shitty builds just to make fun videos.
>He sometimes does this weird... "so le random schtick" dialogue that I hate
I bet you believe the Powerful Poking Partizan video isn't his magnum opus.
Some of his older videos where he does his le random scthick were great. Like the Dungeon Master back in Dark Souls 3 was fantastic. But he's pushes it way too hard Elden Ring. He went from "haha silly video" to "trying way too hard"
Saint Riot and.... I forgot the other guys name. He makes these super stylized build videos for Invasions. They're the best content creators for Elden Ring.
That... Canadian Asian dude is the absolute worst. His tryhard bullshit rubs me the wrong way.
This thing was a real letdown. In DS3 it was close to the highest AR Strength weapon in the game, but it's pretty mediocre in ER. Worse design, too.
You're better off using almost any other greataxe.
As far as Fromsoft games are concerned cosplaying as Guts (or Griffith) is pretty cliche.
>tried to use dragon spells >the claw, the bite, and the breaths all take so long to cast it's been my hardest play through
Are you just not levelling vigor enough to be able to hyper-armour trade with dragonmaw? That incantation is so fricking busted just on its own, let alone with shit makes it even stronger like the canvas talisman and roar medallion.
Honestly I wanna see other cool big swords get love. I love any big sword that does fricking huge shockwaves in these games and I genuinely wish there were more with different effects and different projectiles.
Shit becomes generic because has wide appeal, combine that with the slightly more focused appeal of cosplaying characters you like, is it really any surprise that you see tons of Guts builds?
Because it's fun in it's simplicity. While everyone else is talking about their 10th Heaven Gate opening Technique to fight against their enemy the Daoist Root Black Soul Technique, you get a guy who's just "I got big sword and smash stuff"
Is it generic? Sure. But it's fun.
>Doesn't actually look like the Dragonslayer >Doesn't actually look like the Golden Age sword >You move slow as shit with UGS unlike Guts who is fast and acrobatic
I'm okay with dual wielding, but I HATE how if you're not jump attacking with it you're wrong
Jump attack spam is so fricking stupid unless you're using the naginata which gets an alt R1 moveset dual wielding
>have to either dump a ton of lv into end or waste one talisman slot for great jar arsenal >can hardly wear heavy armor >"not even a real tradeoff"
meanwhile one handing heavy weapon deals just a bit lesser stagger dmg. You can as well dump a few extra points in faith for god tier buffs
Yes, not a real tradeoff. There is a reason why all these; >dude look how fast I killed x Boss
used dual wielding 90% of the time.
Sorry you played a meme build. Get back to me when you actually beat the game.
all the >dude look how fast I killed x Boss
are either ash of war spam or spell spam though
like this >
>playing STR FAI >game is kinda hard but as long as I take it slow it's fine >get this first time I kill this enemy >it's a STR FAI item >frick yeah >level it up >great hammer moveset is cool as frick >doot a boss >mfw 60% of it's HP in one single attack
heh... yeah.... i beat the game

I can never stick with just one weapon, I usually have at least 10 at any given time. It's made me really realize how SHIT the upgrade system in this game is.
Depends.
First playthrough I fell in love with the highland axe and used it as my main with pyromancy on the side
Second playthrough I rotated through all katanas
I just started my 2nd playthrough after not having played since launch, so I don't remember/haven't seen everything in ER. I want to go strength/faith. Weapon suggestions? I don't care if it's amazing or not, just looking for cool weapon ideas without sifting through a million pages and comments on shitxtralife.
I already got brick hammer, golden halberd, great sword, lookin to get ghiza wheel when I make my way to volcano manor. I like unique movesets, ghiza wheel was my favorite weapon on playthrough #1
>try playing Magic >weapon arts can be put on anything you want >they range from huge giga damage one-shots to long range attacks >play STR >can do everything magic can do but better if you can git gud at hard swapping
Haha look at all these magics I'm totally doing.
>decide to do a STR build >might as well use a giant frickoff shield too >the equip load is so huge that I need to spend the whole time naked
STRbros is life really like this
at least now I understand the whole thing about staring at your character's ass all day now

if you didnt know
the giant crusher has the stability and damage negation of a great shield
if you 2 hand it you basically dont need a shield at all
you can block with it for 88%
and you still get the guard counters
once i realized this it felt like cheating when i went back to the duo crucible bros after getting filtered previously
Maybe more an intelligence issue since I didn't even find one until halfway through the game and it was ass compared to the other games parries. You're the one getting stuck tho. I adapted.
>shield >not 2handing
come back when you try a REAL strength build
Do colossal weapons have a block hardness of 2?
If not you could use Dragonbolt blessing to make any weapon feel like you're blocking with a greatshield.
Hardness dictates whether a weapon bounces off whatever your blocking with.
Hardness of 2 makes most enemies attacks bounce off your blocks.
Really good if you plan on guard countering.
Ant skullplate shield has a hardness of 3 where great weapons bounce off when blocking.
And tier 4 harness can be attained with barricade and or ironjar aromatic
Which causes colossal weapons to bounce off your blocks.
neato. all I'm saying is even without this hardness stat even the fricking claymore has like 60-70% damage reduction. it's worth blocking while two handing bounce or no.
Spears were the fricking breasts in ds1.
In 3 and ER everything other than the basic b***h grunt enemies moves too fast and far to actually make use of the range. Still really for shield poking, but the increased speed and range of bosses and elite enemies make spears much less fun for me. Every time I try to make a pokey build in ER I end up switching it to a shieldpoke or War Cry/charge attack build. Or spamming Giant Hunt.
Besides, Heavy Thrusting Swords are just better.
Yeah not a fan of power stancing spears, even if it is objectively the best way to play with them.. At that point how is it any different from any other power stance weapon set, right? For me the whole appeal of spears is keeping distance and poking when you have an opening. Sadly that playstyle has no place in ER with bosses like Mohg or Maliketh or Morgott etc which all fly around the arena like they're on wires. Or bosses like Radagon and Radahn where half (or all) of their moveset are big AoEs that outrange you completely.
It's a shame, ER just isn't a game where my favorite playstyle is an option. So I will always end up playing DS1 again whenever I get that spear itch.
Power stancing is supposed to be "your power stance attacks are slower and consume more stamina but you do twice the damage" But then they made twin spears faster than base spear or two hand spear which is completely moronic.
Spears already had a unique gimmick, they should have said "No we aren't letting you power stance with this.
flamelurker is still a b***h today. all other bosses in demon souls when I went back are easy, but he's definitely a elden ring boss through and through
I don't get how Flamelurker still has this much hype around it. He doesn't really feel much more difficult than other humanoid bosses.

Flamelurker filtered me way back then. I ran out of sticky white stuff, and then I ran out of healing herbs, and farming for that shit made me so bored that I couldn't be fricked going on. I really gotta set up an emulator and actually play through it to completion one of these days.
>cast hidden body >enter flamelurker arena >run to the pillar at the back and hide behind it >he can't find you and just stands around waiting >creep up behind him and blow toxic mist on him till he dies
>more AR than a Giant-Crusher despite weighting 10 units less >actual useable unique R2 so it deals even more damage on average
Just slap Holy Grease on it and the weapon works at any level or if you want to make a level 200 giga paladin it goes up to almost 1300 AR with Order Blade + 80 Faith.
The usefulness of Holy shutting down Skeletons is so greatly overblown. By the time I encounter any skellies in game I can two shot them easily and make way to their generators.
the only build i can think of that would really have trouble with skeletons is a dex build that only uses slash weapons, but you can always pick up a flail. lategame deathbirds are a pain in the ass so holy helps with them, but you can just use the pots.
do sorcerers ever complain about every enemy in raya lucaria resisting magic? fire and lightning have good spreads for beastial / metal-wearing enemies for their weaknesses, but i can't remember any enemy with an explicit magic weakness
There are very few enemies that resist holy damage. It's mostly the endgame bosses that do. Absolutely moronic to make this claim when holy is a perfectly serviceable damage type, especially since a lot of holy weapons also feature percentile health damage, too, and Faith users are easily able to swap to other damage types.
It's like saying Magic damage is unusable because of how many enemies in Raya Lucaria have outrageous Magic Resistance.
homosexuals here are just desperate to dismiss 90% of the playstyles and tools in the game, whether it's through YDBTG autism or crying about stuff not being "viable.
Very hard. Most enemies are resistant to it. And almost all bosses are heavily resistant to it. Then you have end game bosses like Elden Beast who have like 80% Damage Resistance to it. It's fricking absurd.
ACKSHUALLY you use Beast Threads. Or whatever that Faith Incantation is called. It's pure physical and it hits big enemies multiple times for thousands of damage.
Not exactly. I just want a level 1, no upgrades character to grab DLC weapons and frick around making different builds for co-op.
Now that I have a character this low level, I'm gonna farm DLC weapons, invade at low levels, and drop them for random people.
on my 120 STR/Faith homie the clawmark seal has like 261 power, but normally seals for faith characters get like 320-350 at that level. Feels bad trying to be a hybrid.
An infused Zweihander is pretty good for both INT, and FTH casters and the reqs aren't that high.
It even gets some unique combos against other players like Crouch R1 + Catch Flame or Carian Slicer.
yes, that's true. but str/fth hybrids get stuff like the ordovis greatsword and silura's lance, which works best when both stats are leveled up.
i admit i am a bit biased because i just like hybrid builds due to all the different weapons and spells you can use, im fine being suboptimal if it means i get to use a weapon like the godslayer greatsword
Do you mean INT OR FTH or both together? INT's late game spells are completely busted, FTH less so but still good
Using them both together is very sub-optimal because there isn't much that scales with both. Both have some great utility spells that make exploration easier and reduce the need for most items.
I meant both, I was looking at the few spells that use both stats and wanted to do a run with them.
I guess SoNaF but the weapon art spam seems boring.

int/fth has a great seal (the golden order one)
however in terms of magic the death sorcery staff is bad until VERY late game I mean above level 200 kind of thing.
The other thing is casting speed is based on dex and you won't reach it without dex unless you specifically use radagon's icon (talisman) + azur's staff
It sucks. My first playthrough was INT/FTH and believe me, it is just mediocre. Its like playing a gimped version of an INT or FTH build. You will be stuck putting all your points in these stats so you have less HP, less FP, and less damage than other builds. Your only real weapon is the sword of night and flame which actually is good but it's the ONLY weapon for your build. You won't have enough STR/DEX for other weapons so you're basically stuck using straight swords. I ended up just dual wielding frost straightswords and using catch flame to reset the frostbite. But hey maybe it'll get more support in the DLC.
I meant both, I was looking at the few spells that use both stats and wanted to do a run with them.
I guess SoNaF but the weapon art spam seems boring.
int/fai suffers from a lot of issues ranging from weirdly gimped base strength for its spells and gimped scaling to having no weapon support. It's by no means useless and actually shines at a high RL though. >Weapons
You have one weapon and it's meh due to triple split damage. The weapon arts aren't terrible though and you can also duel wield it with Golden Epitah or St. Trina's for an extra kick.
>Death Sorceries and PoDS
The Prince of Death Staff is actually one of the better staves in the game but only at over 80/80 int fai. It has backloaded scaling(Scaling starts rapidly increasing at high stats) and is absolute dog shit at 125-150.
The Death sorceries all have extremely high int/fai requirements for subpar performance. Rancorcall is niche in pvp and does sub par damage. Tibia's Summons is useless. Fia's Mist is pvp only and there are better ways to deathblight people.
Ghost Flame Explosion is funny for pvp but inferior to Zamor Ice Storm in PVE. ADR does subpar damage but is a stagger machine in PVE and will assrape Melania.
>Magma Sorceries and Gelmir Staff.
Gelmir Staff is a rare drop and boosts magma spell, but is really bad scaling wise. It will be stronger that PoDS at SL 150 but weaker than practically any other catalyst.
Magma Spells all have low FAI requirements with Rhykard's being like 18, so technically you can use these without much sacrifice with a high int build, defeating their exclusivity to int/fai.
Magma Shot is powerful and mana efficient but requires free aiming. Roiling Magma is like playing Demoman in souls. Gelmir's Fury is a niche AOE. RR is the ultimate "use in tunnels" spell and shreds big bosses.
I meant both, I was looking at the few spells that use both stats and wanted to do a run with them.
I guess SoNaF but the weapon art spam seems boring.

>Golden Order Incants
The bane of paladin builds for their int requirements. Golden Order Seal is a decent high scaling seal for around RL 150, but has a pitiful boost for GO incants (10%).
Holy Damage is the worst damage type in the game, being resisted by all things divine and dragon and only good against skeletons, death birds and Albinaurics. It has a lot of ways to be buffed more so than other damage types to compensate at least.
Golden Discus is the most fp efficient spell in game and great for clearing trash or mind games in pvp but has no tracking which can make it a poor choice on dodgy fights as it depends on both hits connecting to keep up with similar spells.
Triple Rings looks cool as frick and feels great to use but only ONE ring can connect against a target at a time. Their damage is incredibly bad for the fp cost and their best use is manually proccing Erdtree Greatshields holy missile ability which yields better results damage wise.
Rings of Radagon is a decently powerful holy AOE but suffers from speed problems, requiring skill to use right in PVE. It's wonky distance makes it effective in PVP which is something to consider. If it had hyper armor it would be better.
Order Blade only scales with your Faith Stat so it's not really meant for your build.
Immutable Shield is great in pvp by making you immune to status effects when blocking.
Law of Causality only works with Gideon Offnir, you will never live long enough for it to be useful.
Law of Regression kills the buff gay but it's a pure int incant.
Int FAI will obviously also benefit from any sorcery or incant you can get your hands on which I suppose is why From Software made all the actual int/fai spells kind of sub par compared to their pure counterparts while making the catalyst that works with them well extremely high RL.
I really wish FromSoftware would let you change the Ash of War for the Great Club so you can make it a Heavy weapon. I don't know how to feel about it solely being a Strength/Faith weapon. It has my favorite weapon out of every colossal weapon in Elden Ring so far.
It's not really a STR/FTH weapon.
You only get 40 AR by going all the way from 9 to 80 Faith.
Meanwhile is has AR comparable to the Giant Crusher if you go full STR.
And at least Golden Land is better than most other ashes, and scales mostly with the weapon's AR and reinforcement level.
>is has AR comparable to the Giant Crusher if you go full STR
My character currently has 99 Strength so I'll see how good it is compared to the Giant Crusher when I fully upgrade it.
>Not strong >no dexterity what so ever >just have magic ayy aura >weapon slices through shit basically on its own because of bullshit unexplained "qualities" I possess.
I would have it no other way.
Currently setting up a Crucible Knight Cosplay build to take into the dlc since there were some new crucible looking spells (I hope). I've just now collected the tree set and both weapons, but will not be doning them until after I defeat Morgot. So far I've managed to kill every region shardbearer while wearing their own knight's armor sets. Got pretty lucky with drops sometimes. Full set of knight armor except the banished knight helm because I'm a sucker for hoods and it looks fricking dope with the knight cape. Been maining greatswords mostly, but have been using Zweihander for some time and will only switch over to Ordovis' greatsword after morgot tastes my fury. Will end up leaving this run just before burning the erdtree at about 120 (if I can defeat mogh at that level) for the dlc. I'm also going to save Melina by getting diddled by the tres amigos, but will outisraelite the gigaisraelite and become Elden Lord of the fracuted age with Malenia and Ranni as my wives (the canon way to play the game)
I may also set up a blackflame monk quality build to the same spot right after. I REALLY want to do a pure blackflame run with Godslayer greatsword and godskin weapons. Plus the monk aspect might work well with the new barefist melee stuff the dlc is adding
i reccomend a blackflame monk build. it's pretty fun and has some nice edge to it. blackflame ritual is sorely underrated
also, i don't know if it's still like this, but if you put blackflame on your weapon then use phantom slash, your phantom guy has a blackflame damage aura around him. it doesn't do a ton of damage but it's cool i guess
Occult Great Stars, Occult Omen Killer Machetes, Occult Star Fists, Occult Grave Scythe, or basically bleed variants of any of those if you want more Str scalling and less arc?
You turn high STR scaling weapons to Bleed. Then you get High STR Scaling. Decent Arcane Scaling. And a huge boost in damage by Bleed. Then you trigger Bleed and get a huge AR buff by that Bleed Talisman.
If you're 150+ in Rune Level, it's the best way to build yourself. Though being that high is kinda pointless.
Charged R2s with War Cry active while using a Colossal sword or hammer deals 3 times the amount of status buildup of a normal swing.
A Blood Greatsword bleeds almost every single enemy in the game with a single R2 that way.
>make it a point to getting every single summoning point on my low level character so if I want to co-op I can co-op anywhere >don't think too hard about getting them in high level areas too >100% the game at level 30 >haha, time to co-op >keep getting summoned by level 20's who want to twink but are too shit to do it alone
I feel like I should have thought about this and now that I'm experiencing this, I fricking hate it. I just wanted to co-op with people in normal zones around my level.
>Charging Spell Talisman >Incantation Talisman 1 >Incantation Talisman 2 >Two Gravel or Two Frenzy Talismans >Shoot Frenzy Beam at someone for 1.5k DMG >Shoot Lighthing at someone for 1.5k DMG >Press Lightning Explosion for 5k+ DMG >Haha I am shitty boss, and I am immune to elementa--- >Pest Threads for 5k DMG
Nothing personell, STR Cucks. My faith guides me.
>start trying to get into being an invader >fun but very tough >look up what other invaders are doing >"Greatbow with Cheated in Golem Arrows" >*Spams Starlight Shards also cheated in* >this is 9/10 invaders >the other 1 are meta slaves using Dual Great Lance
No wonder people hate Invaders, this shit is pathetic.
A man can only take poor little red phantom gank squads with teabagging so many times. Yesterday I had a guy disconnect after his furled finger dropped dead, the souls community has gotten that pathetic so it's no wonder the ER invasions gave gotten that toxic.
A man can only take poor little red phantom gank squads with teabagging so many times. Yesterday I had a guy disconnect after his furled finger dropped dead, the souls community has gotten that pathetic so it's no wonder the ER invasions gave gotten that toxic.
Older souls games had a bit of diversity in invaders, You had meta slaves but also people doing their own thing.
Miyazki's plan to appease both parties failed because invaders weren't having fun at all until coming across the few methods of actually bullying people.
So this is definitely the fault of the 2 phantom homosexual with the hunter ring on.
it's 3v1 often times, elden ring is the worst game so far when it comes to things being in the invader's favor. I've been invading since demon's souls. I don't play meta builds I like to do meme ones but the odds are heavily stacked against you this time around.
Invading without a multi-hit aoe WA is basically suicide. At the very least though this comfy safe space shit for phantom gays invites the most pathetic players so fortunately it can be easy to break up a part and kill a host.
I've seen some especially moronic phantoms in my day.
Just started a lightning build with lightning fists weapons and lightning Nagakiba. Wonder whether my investment into faith was a mistake. Looks fun so far.
>three different talismans meant to amplify damage >potion that amplifies damage twice >shoot Madness Beam at an invader from 3 miles away >kills them in one hit
Elden Ring has way too much damage and way too much ability to stack damage.
my holy build can't do that >don't really use incants for damage >holy scorpion is all I get >holy tear >it doesn't kill them in one hit and they kill me
Magic/sorceries I know can stack like your example
It's pretty easy. >two seals to stack the same school of magic damage, i.e. two gravel talismans to make Dragon Cult Incantations more powerful x 2 >the two different canvas talismans to give yourself another huge boost x 2 >use spells with specific triggers then amplify those, for example, spells that you can charge then use Godfrey Icon to amplify it's charge damage by a great deal >two different damage buffs from your Potion
Even at level 50 with a +10 (normal, so this is the equivalent of a +4 special) seal and only 26 Faith, my Ancient Dragons' Lightning Strike can hit bosses for 2-3k depending on the boss.
I can hit players for 800-900's with Frenzied Burst.
>two gravel talismans to make Dragon Cult Incantations more powerful x 2
Huh? Is there a bug that scales spells with second-slot/off-hand catalysts like the candlestick in DS3? >two different canvas talismans
Wait, you can't equip two talismans from the same category, can you? I thought the game doesn't let you stack those.
>Meant Seals
Yeah, I figured that much.
Does it actually add the scaling of the seal in the other hand, despite you only ever using one seal at a time to cast a spell? That's gotta be a bug. There's no way dual-wielding catalysts is the intended way to play a spellcaster. But then again, it keeps happening in FromSoft's games...
Anonymous
No, it doesn't add the scaling. Some seals have specific damage buffs for specific schools of magic. For example, the Frenzy Seal gives you damage buffs for Frenzy Incantations.
It's not a bug, 100% intended. You just need to get to NG+ to be able to do it. Or get a friend to drop his one like I did.

So, the school bonus does stack when dual-wielding? Interdasting. Does it beat just using the highest scaling catalyst instead? Maybe if I'll ever do a pure spellcaster playthrough I'll have to consider sticking to a specific school of magic then. Or I can take advantage of that on my endgame character who has multiple copies of almost every item in the game.

>Does it beat just using the highest scaling catalyst instead?
Sometimes, sometimes not. Sometimes it's best to have the highest scaling catalyst, then in your off-hand, have the catalyst that buffs that specific school of magic or incantation in your otherhand for the passive buff to that specific schools damage.
For example, the Frenzy Seal has really odd scaling, scaling from all stats making it one of the worst Seals for most levels under 150+. With two, lets say you can hit for 600 with a Frenzy Burst, but with the Erdtree Seal you can hit for 600 as well. So it'd be best to use your Erdtree Seal to cast the Incantation, then just have your other hand with the Frenzy Seal sitting their passively giving you 20% Damage with Frenzy Incantations, even without using it to cast stuff. So now your 600 with Erd Tree Seal turns into a 720. You just gotta test which stuff is better at which time.
https://jerp.tv/eldenring/spelltools/
This can help, but it'll only give you an idea of your best seal with your stats and specific upgrade level.

Catalyst stacking really depends on whether or not the % buffs of using both outweighs using a better catalyst.
For example, two Gelmir Staves will boost magma spells by 30% but the Gemir staff scaling is so poor I'm sure a single Lustat Staff would do more damage and a Gelmir and Lustat staff would certainly do more.
It's said Staff of Loss x2 is the best staff combo in the game when using night sorceries even at rune levels.
Sure. Here you go, it's nothing special yet. I'm just doing co-op around this level. It's not optimized at all for PVP, but that's why I use Vyke's Spear with the Madness Incantations. They give you huge advantages.
As for the "Eye" thing are you talking about my Seal? That's what you use to cast incantations. I have two of them. It makes my Frenzy Incantations do 20% more damage. If you have two of them, it's 40%, but then you can only cast through it. So you need to weigh that extra 20% versus another seal with higher Incant Scaling. With these stats, this is one of the better seals I can get. Only beaten by the Gravel Seal, which I also have two of for my Dragon Cult Incants (Pictured).
I haven't played since launch, they've buffed the attack speed for great hammers right? I was gonna recreate my intital build for the DLC, I was STR/FAI with the Brick Hammer.
>the special block-attack
The what? You mean guard counter? Or a some sort of guard point? I don't remember FUGS having those. But in ER there's actually a couple of weapons which do have it. Lazuli and Carian straight swords have a GP on their heavy attacks. Maybe some other weapons, I dunno. Straight swords aren't very viable for trading and parrying though. And by "trading" I'd usually assume superarmoring through an incoming attack with an attack of your own. Not just taking turns and blocking.
>The what? You mean guard counter? Or a some sort of guard point? I don't remember FUGS having those.
The Fume Ultra Greatsword's Skill: Stomp
It's a block that turns into an attack
You sure that's a block and not superarmor move with damage reduction instead? Does it cost extra stamina to block when you're hit, and does it make smaller weapons, like rapiers rebound when you're hit during the animation?
>You sure that's a block and not superarmor move with damage reduction instead?
?feature=shared&t=135
Here, in this video you can see what I mean, its a move that, with increased poise, first does a block move and then follows up with a slam attack that pancakes enemies. >Does it cost extra stamina to block when you're hit, and does it make smaller weapons, like rapiers rebound when you're hit during the animation?
No idea but I do remember using it against the Ringed Knight Paired Greatswords as a hard-counter.
Yeah, he takes extra stamina damage when hit. So it's a proper guard point.
Well, anyway, in ER you can trade with superarmor moves instead. It's more or less the same effect and playstyle. And the two other weapons I mentioned which have guard points, are light weapons, and I'm not sure they can continue the attack after blocking a hit from a heavier weapon. Provided you don't get guardbroken at all. On the upside - you can put stomp and similar superarmored ashes of war on a lot of different weapons. And then there's shield ashes of war as well, which have guard property while attacking the opponent.

>And then there's shield ashes of war as well, which have guard property while attacking the opponent.
That's too obvious, I wanted a move that can pretty much trade with everything which FUGS stomp did, now I have to be content with the next best thing like you said, super-armor moves which is fine but everyone already uses giant-hunt for example, I wonder how Lion's Claw performs against it.
Doesn't it have a unique hitbox compared to the rest of its weapon class though, which is why pvpgays are using it - to catch people with the giant ass hitbox?
>play through the game as STR with a little INT to use gravity weapons >get bored >respect STR/FTH >weapons are even more boring
Blasphemous Blade is just so OP it is boring.
I don't see the point of any colossus sword that isn't Greatsword so frick Maliketh Blade.
>playing STR FAI >game is kinda hard but as long as I take it slow it's fine >get this first time I kill this enemy >it's a STR FAI item >frick yeah >level it up >great hammer moveset is cool as frick >doot a boss >mfw 60% of it's HP in one single attack
heh... yeah.... i beat the game
STR/FAI bro I just started a new playthrough with this playstyle and I'm fricking miserable but still having fun somehow. Any tips? I'm currently using the winged scythe and the base fingers you get as confessor and I just beat Wolf of Radagon in Raya Lucaria. I got my FAI up to 24, str to 20 and now I'm focusing on VIG/MIN.
Unless you have a "Special" weapon that scales from STR / FAI, you should focus only on FAI, VIG, maybe a little END depending on what armor you want and MIND. Then go straight to Caelid and grab the Red-Hot Whetblade. This will let you put Flame Art on your weapons, making them primarily scale from FAI. This will save you stat points and let you focus on Health and Faith alone.
When you get a good Faith / Strength scaling weapon like the Flesh Greatsword, forgot it's name, or the DOOT DOOT Great Hammer, then you should start moving into STR. Another thing you should do is try and get the Ancestral Talisman and Bestial Vitality early on. Both of those combined will basically mean you'll never need to heal unless you do something stupid.
As an example of a good Flame Art weapon. Low Stat requirement. Then makes it basically only scale from Faith. Perfect low level weapon. STR FAI only really takes off later on.
The other alternative is to grab yourself the MAGMA WYRM'S SCALESWORD. That thing is an absolute beast. I've one-shot Meta players in the arena with that thing. It has B / B Scaling equally for STR / FAI
>STR/FAI bro I just started a new playthrough with this playstyle and I'm fricking miserable but still having fun somehow. Any tips? I'm currently using the winged scythe
Start using an STR/FTH weapon instead of a DEX weapon with an FTH tax
STR/FAI bro I just started a new playthrough with this playstyle and I'm fricking miserable but still having fun somehow. Any tips? I'm going to play STR/INT using this with cold infusion for a new playthrough for the expansion. Only melee, without using any ranged sorceries, only using stuff like Gavel of Haima. Can't fricking wait.
I agree that STR is more satisfying to play, but I wouldn't say that DEX isn't quick enough, or that it gives up much.
DEX does comparable damage per hit to STR, but swings much faster for higher "optimal DPS". Which also lets it apply status effects better. Really, the only thing STR has over DEX is poisebreak. But more often than not it's mostly useful against trash mobs, and those are easy anyway. But now DEX weapons are getting weapon arts and ashes of war and all the shiny new toys, which can stagger enemies just as easily.
>Ctrl+F "Starscourge" >1 result
I'm beating Radahn tonight, want to beat the game with his greatswords to have a character ready for the DLC, am I setting myself up for disappointment?
His UGS are quite strong AND fun to use. With some luck you can even catch people in PvP with it, better yet ledge them. Probably won't work in a duel though, because all the PvPgays know the timing for the roll. The AoE is great for ganking/brawls with multiple people.
>I'm not planning on doing any PvP
You don't necessarily need to plan on doing PvP to do PvP. I like to drop my signs throughout my playthroughs to stock up on rune arcs by helping the host with the boss. But sometimes I just get involved in PvP when an invasion happens.
Unless you mean no online whatsoever.
>intricate faith scaling but can be buffed >Order's Blade and Electrify Armament makes the weapon scale with the Faith portion of the used catalyst for 90 seconds (117 with Old talisman) >flat damage buff on top
Nobody uses it because the L2 is useless but this thing is like a chainsaw, its running R2 is three hit and shits out so much pressure anyone going for a heal is getting blendered. It's charged R2 is a delayed double hit guaranteeing either a rollcatch in PvP or a stagger in PvE. You can slap Black Flame on it as well. Absolute beast of a weapon, buffs are way cooler than boring invisible infusions and it let's you swap stuff on the fly depending on the situation. A knight/iron virgin? Slap on lightning. A deathbird/revenant? Slap on Order's Blade for free 100% extra damage. A putrid/tree Avatar? Slap on Black Flame.
And on top you can still use all of the OP Faith spells like Blessing's Boon, Black Blade and Pest Threads.
>l2 is useless
It's L2 is fricking great what are you smoking? It does absurd stagger and damage and it's dual hit combo often tricks even the best players in PVP.
I've dominated in the arena with that thing. Did a 100% clear of the game with it. And spend hundred + hours invading with it. It's easily one of my favorite weapons.
>summon a guy called Cleric Velstadt for a dungeon with skeletons in it >he has a mace >cool, I like RP stuff >he hits a skeleton for 1.5k >I'm a level 38
I didn't realize how utterly insane both Blunt and Holy absolutely destroy Undead.
Kinda makes me want an area in the DLC where it's just pure Undead so some Holy Chad can absolutely dominate the shit out of it.
That is because the buff itself already give you like +100% dmg bonus to undead. And the undead themself take an extra bonus holy dmg due to their resistance. that why combo like blunt weapon+sacred blade destroys all the death birds
Real strength
My favorite weapon, along with this backscratcher.
I wish you could start the game with the Serpent-Hunter Spear earlier.
At least you can rush it pretty well. If you got something locked behind Leyndell, you're fricked six ways from sunday and have to slog through a bunch of bullshit.
>At least you can rush it pretty well.
I'm not good enough at the game to beat the double Virgins low level.
the other way to rush it is the two medallion halves.
I rushed to a further weapon...
I honestly don't even know where they are I always climbed the cliff, guess I'll look it up for next time.
You just need to get the Dectus medallions, no?
No need for dectus medallions, you just need to make sure to die to the attack where the abductor pulls you inside of it.
>yeah just beat godskin noble on low rl bro it's easy
Dawg...
I use mace and my faith
I didn't know that the one handed R2 of that weapon had hyper armor, it's actually pretty fun to use it alongside a shield or casting tool.
Against players it can even poise through some big weapons like greatswords if used alongside the Bullgoat's Talisman.
All you need are the anchors
I'm gonna smash every fricking boss in the DLC with this massive hammer.
I was at a similar level and stats, with Radhan's armor set, but with the Berserk sword. Game is fun the simple way.
Faith kings we got this
horn tooter
This but Cipher Pata, Leveled up FAI and used it for the entire game.
>elden beast takes no damage from these
sad you cannot do a full playthrough with them
He does take damage and I did do a full playthrough, yes it was tedious and dog shit with his 80% resistance, yes I would never do it again.
There are some spells and ashes that can debuff resists, like Greyoll Roar, those probably help a ton if you want to bruteforce Elden Beast with Holy.
Insecure STRBlack folk ruined Souls games.
>gets immediately dual colossal sword jump attacked
I can't dual wield anything larger than a straight sword because I hate how the weapon in your offhand is held like it's completely weightless. It just looks so unpolished, like the whole idea was implemented last second and they had no time to make new idles.
I like that it looks stupid. There is nothing more moronic looking in the game than jumping on top of a wizard with two massive unga bunga sticks in my hands. Funniest shit ever.
My first love, felt like I was cheating my first playthrough.
In Godfrey's time, men were absolute chads who could smash a dragon's head in without a problem.
Then Marika kicked him out, put some book loving nerd in charge, and everyone became a weakling.
>dude what if we reused the bloodborne weapon model but removed the cool part of it being a sword + hammer combo LMAO
b team strikes again, fricking shit
Kirkhammer, my beloved.
None of the weapons in ER has come close to feeling as good to use as the trick weapons in Bloodborne. I'm gonna be very upset if there isn't a Beast Cutter-like weapon in the DLC.
Hell, even the Holy Moonlight Sword is way better than the Dark Moon Greatsword.
>HMLS had it's R2, charged R2, backstep R2, dodge R2, dash R2 and leaping R2 all launch moonlight beams with the unique L2 thrusting attack on top of all that
>DMGS has... it's R2+R2 combo, and also it's charged R2s which is just the same attack but the beam goes a little bit further and does more damage... also it has to be charged up first with L2, because frick the L2 at least being the poke
>that atrocious framepacing
Aren't you glad this game is stuck on a piece of shit console?
Not reading all that because you're definitely gay, and wrong on top of writing a wall of text nobody is going to read. Embarrassing.
Raped Malenia with this + fingerprint shield
I feel no remorse, the game was beat
I am a STR player like you :^)
Great stars, my beloved
Leave the DLC to me!
>cannot even see this weapon without that sax song from that Carbot animation running through my head
Never played ER, how different is it from 3? I used to like watching 3 invasion videos but all the ER ones seem to be "one-shot with your art of war" and not nearly as entertaining
>how different is it from 3?
You get punished if you rollspam and panicroll, you can jump, more skills
that's it
>I used to like watching 3 invasion videos but all the ER ones seem to be "one-shot with your art of war" and not nearly as entertaining
It’s not, the STR build video where he yells BLEE BILL for 5 minutes is
based Kenshin poster
>doesn't lol at his exaggerated southern old man bit
I'm not even american and I love me some ol sayn ryan characters
Saint Riot and.... I forgot the other guys name. He makes these super stylized build videos for Invasions. They're the best content creators for Elden Ring.
That... Canadian Asian dude is the absolute worst. His tryhard bullshit rubs me the wrong way.
Right here, bro.
This thing rules. Started a new str playthrough and I love how greataxes feel
>was excited to use Greataxe at start of run
>very fricking first Golem in the game drops his halberd
I'm so sorry greataxe
This thing was a real letdown. In DS3 it was close to the highest AR Strength weapon in the game, but it's pretty mediocre in ER. Worse design, too.
You're better off using almost any other greataxe.
I loved the DS3 one but to be fair it was stubby as frick.
I still like ER's greataxe, but it's definitely overshadowed by other options.
>N
Doing the Guts cosplay with this, the Night's Cavalry Set, and 99 Strength has been pretty fun.
pretty sure I've seen like 20 other guys doing that too around graces
What is it about Berserk that makes dudes go "I want to be the most generic thing ever."
>generic
Frickhuge greatswords are hardly generic, who else even popularized it besides Cloud and Guts?
>who else even popularized it besides Cloud and Guts?
Everyone?
>Frickhuge greatswords are hardly generic
Dude, like every other anime or RPG features at least one dude with a giant sword. It's very common.
I mean they are cool. I just don't get how without fail there's always a Gutsgay.
this homie is a pedophile ! trying to get his dick sucked by a 15 year old when he could get all the b***hes
Miura got the idea from Pygmalio, and I don't think 'big fricking sword' is that original of an idea.
As far as Fromsoft games are concerned cosplaying as Guts (or Griffith) is pretty cliche.
Are you just not levelling vigor enough to be able to hyper-armour trade with dragonmaw? That incantation is so fricking busted just on its own, let alone with shit makes it even stronger like the canvas talisman and roar medallion.
Honestly I wanna see other cool big swords get love. I love any big sword that does fricking huge shockwaves in these games and I genuinely wish there were more with different effects and different projectiles.
i cant believe im reading someone say "frickhuge greatswords are hardly generic"
Sure. But it's fun.
>wasting 19 levels
>Doesn't actually look like the Dragonslayer
>Doesn't actually look like the Golden Age sword
>You move slow as shit with UGS unlike Guts who is fast and acrobatic
>where you at?
Killing everything with my superior range
why do you hate fun and nice things?
The one thing I fricking HATE about Elden Ring is how Dual Wielding does more damage than anything else.
God, I fricking hate dual wielding.
2 > 1
That's just how dual wielding is. It's either very strong or has way too many restrictions on it for it to be useful. Never any inbetween.
I'm okay with dual wielding, but I HATE how if you're not jump attacking with it you're wrong
Jump attack spam is so fricking stupid
unless you're using the naginata which gets an alt R1 moveset dual wielding
Jump spam is only optimal for greathammers, colossals and maybe halberds. Most other weapons do way more poise damage with charged R2s.
if you're dual wielding you should be jumping. That even goes for bleed weapons
Whats wrong with dual wielding?
Looks like shit. And you're obviously a meta slave with 0 originality.
I just don't like what it looks like. I've always hated it. Plus, it just feels like shit to play.
You cannot convince me that the Starscourge Greatswords aren't the best fricking weapon in the game.
it's not even str/int weapon
that would be blaidd's sword
Nuh uh
>Mfw Blaidd's sword doesn't have innate frost buildup
It was so close to be perfection.
They didn't want it stepping too close to the Moonlight Greatsword. And I think they did both a disservice.
>jumping L1 jumping L1 jumping L1 jumping L1
>I'm an individual!
>Jumping R1
>Jumping R1
>Jumping R1
>implying I'm not constantly getting killed because I keep going for charged R2s with the giant-crusher
2handing STR weapons is pretty viable.
Weapon + casting tool is also solid.
Two Greatswords do more damage than one Greatsword but weigh twice as much. It's a tradeoff.
A single Greatsword can still compete using Ashes of War.
kek it's not even a real tradeoff
>dude more weight though!?!?
as if that barely means anything
not for katanas and shit but two giant crushers are 50+
Yes, not a real tradeoff. There is a reason why all these;
>dude look how fast I killed x Boss
used dual wielding 90% of the time.
Sorry you played a meme build. Get back to me when you actually beat the game.
Fully debunked.
literally dual wielding
Yeah, that's another issue with Elden Ring. Stacking so many buffs is moronic.
Dual Wielding is also moronic.
all the
>dude look how fast I killed x Boss
are either ash of war spam or spell spam though
like this >
dual wielding is not as strong as you think
>dual wielding is not as strong as you think
Bahahahahahahahahahaha
True I was mad at myself for not figuring out to use two colossal swords instead of one until Farum Azula
>have to either dump a ton of lv into end or waste one talisman slot for great jar arsenal
>can hardly wear heavy armor
>"not even a real tradeoff"
meanwhile one handing heavy weapon deals just a bit lesser stagger dmg. You can as well dump a few extra points in faith for god tier buffs
>one handing
mean for 2h
>tried to use dragon spells
>the claw, the bite, and the breaths all take so long to cast it's been my hardest play through
activate endure first problem solved
Do you bros like to only use 1 weapon for a playthrough? Only having a blade weapon is pretty poopy against all the rock and crystal dudes
I used the hammer from the gladiator guy all the way back in Limgrave to kill Fire Giant.
I can never stick with just one weapon, I usually have at least 10 at any given time. It's made me really realize how SHIT the upgrade system in this game is.
I was gonna use nothing but a blood giant-crusher with some incantation supplementation (
) but then it occurred to me the Marais sword scales well with strength so I'll probably use that a little bit too.
Depends.
First playthrough I fell in love with the highland axe and used it as my main with pyromancy on the side
Second playthrough I rotated through all katanas
Easy, the Crescent Moon Axe.
>actually slightly biased towards dex
Okay... The Duelist Greataxe then
>actually slightly biased towards dex
I just started my 2nd playthrough after not having played since launch, so I don't remember/haven't seen everything in ER. I want to go strength/faith. Weapon suggestions? I don't care if it's amazing or not, just looking for cool weapon ideas without sifting through a million pages and comments on shitxtralife.
I already got brick hammer, golden halberd, great sword, lookin to get ghiza wheel when I make my way to volcano manor. I like unique movesets, ghiza wheel was my favorite weapon on playthrough #1
str/fth can use the erdtree avatar staff
str can usually make use of jar cannon for any long range needs
maliketh's stuff is cool but super late game
My holy brother in Gold, you only need rock in your life
cipher pata
godslayer greatsword
crucible greatsword/lance
magma wyrm scalesword
envoy horns
halo/wing scythes
>flamberge with fire strike
>everything pyromancy in offhand when not two handing
What more do you need?
Blasphemous Blade
Fire Scorpion Charm
Shard of Alexander
Taker's Cameo
Carian Filigreed Crest
Flame Grant Me Strength
Golden Vow
become UNBEARABLE
If you used weapons, fists or magic you didn't beat the game
>fists
>expands dong
>bleed
that's not true STR
Hope the DLC has cool weapons and armor.
>Bone Fist
>Bewitched Alonne Sword
>Fume Knight Greatsword
>Ivory King' Greatsword
>Friede's Great Scythe
>Ring Knight Paired Greatswords
>Frayed Blade
>Gael's Greatsword
>Whirligig Saw
>Simon's Bowblade
>Holy Moonlight Blade
>Kos Parasite
They always save the coolest shit for the DLCs.
>not mentioning Beast Cutter
>try playing Magic
>weapon arts can be put on anything you want
>they range from huge giga damage one-shots to long range attacks
>play STR
>can do everything magic can do but better if you can git gud at hard swapping
Haha look at all these magics I'm totally doing.
I'm hoping for holy DMG to be useful in the DLC, nearly every main boss of the base game had holy RES, pretty lame.
I'm an intellectual
>intelligence
>the most braindead easy playstyle
really makes you think
Work smarter, not harder
you little cheeky shit
thats a bleed weapon you dishonorable cretin!
I fell in love with this badboy by the end of the game. Not optimal in the slightest but felt so fricking good.
I know giant crusher is objectively better in terms of stats, but this thing was peak aesthetics for me.
>decide to do a STR build
>might as well use a giant frickoff shield too
>the equip load is so huge that I need to spend the whole time naked
STRbros is life really like this
at least now I understand the whole thing about staring at your character's ass all day now
>shield
>not 2handing
come back when you try a REAL strength build
I WILL block everything and there's nothing you can do to convince me otherwise
Guard counters just feel so fricking good
if you didnt know
the giant crusher has the stability and damage negation of a great shield
if you 2 hand it you basically dont need a shield at all
you can block with it for 88%
and you still get the guard counters
once i realized this it felt like cheating when i went back to the duo crucible bros after getting filtered previously
That sounds fricking neat, I'll keep it in mind
Current plans are fingerprint shield with great stars but I'll see when I get there
I didn't use a shield the entire game because the parry was dogshit. Just 2-hand bro.
>because the parry was dogshit
skill issue I’m afraid
Maybe more an intelligence issue since I didn't even find one until halfway through the game and it was ass compared to the other games parries. You're the one getting stuck tho. I adapted.
Bro, your Carian Retaliation?
Your Golden Parry?
Do colossal weapons have a block hardness of 2?
If not you could use Dragonbolt blessing to make any weapon feel like you're blocking with a greatshield.
I don't know about hardness but blocking with greatsword/colossal weapons does have pretty good resistance. worth using at least.
Which causes colossal weapons to bounce off your blocks.
neato. all I'm saying is even without this hardness stat even the fricking claymore has like 60-70% damage reduction. it's worth blocking while two handing bounce or no.
>using crutches
couldn't be me
*crack* *sips*
Yup this right here is a man's weapon.
Daily reminder that spears are to swords as an AR-15 is to a Glock.
Duel wielding spears is basically the only way to use spears though due to the broken hitbox and speed.
I hate this though, because while power stancing is a great concept it is completely moronic with spears.
Spears already had a unique gimmick, they should have said "No we aren't letting you power stance with this.
i'm just partying with winged and halo scythes and a bunch of faith
move aside, homosexuals. The OG is here
>knocks everything back in one swing
>only available if you don't frick up your world tendency
my only gripe is that you dont get to use this till a bit later, and you dont even smash the big ass dragon with it
I rushed it but man frick flamelurker kek
flamelurker is still a b***h today. all other bosses in demon souls when I went back are easy, but he's definitely a elden ring boss through and through
I don't get how Flamelurker still has this much hype around it. He doesn't really feel much more difficult than other humanoid bosses.
he still gives me ptsd
you pray he gets stuck on a brick and doesn't rape your ass. At least on the ps3 version idk about the remaster or w/e
It always seemed pretty straightforward: stick and move and you'll be alright. I went through the game my first run with a Regen build like a silly boy but I never felt too worried about him giving me pressure.
He's the first actually challenging boss in the entire Souls series, so people remember him.
you get the purple tower shield and poke him to death with a spear
Flamelurker filtered me way back then. I ran out of sticky white stuff, and then I ran out of healing herbs, and farming for that shit made me so bored that I couldn't be fricked going on. I really gotta set up an emulator and actually play through it to completion one of these days.
>cast hidden body
>enter flamelurker arena
>run to the pillar at the back and hide behind it
>he can't find you and just stands around waiting
>creep up behind him and blow toxic mist on him till he dies
My favorite bonk. It smashes, it has a homing magic for fricks I can't reach or bonk, it looks sweet.
>bleed
Not a true STR weapon.
These are the weapons I used to invade with on my STR guy. They're my favorite weapons in the game.
Mostly I use Claymore and Dual Messer.
>Mostly I use Claymore
such is life
>that fextralife watermark
cringe
Give me a place to make that image otherwise. I wasn't gonna spend 20 minutes googling shit to make some disposable image.
Reminder what they did to mah boi
>more AR than a Giant-Crusher despite weighting 10 units less
>actual useable unique R2 so it deals even more damage on average
Just slap Holy Grease on it and the weapon works at any level or if you want to make a level 200 giga paladin it goes up to almost 1300 AR with Order Blade + 80 Faith.
>90% of the enemies in the game are resistant to holy damage
>99% of all bosses are resistant to holy damage
Anon might just be preparing for the dlc.
Surely the dlc will have enemies weak to holy damage right?
The weapon is 90% physical damage, and outside of Maliketh/Radagon/Elden Beast that have 80% holy resist, no other enemy gives holy builds trouble.
Cipher Pata build is basically just dumping all your points into Faith, so you can just use Incantations if a particular enemy resists Holy too much.
>90%
my ass. and people always forget how holy damage deletes skeletons and deathbirds
skeletons are like 3% of the enemies and deathbirds are uncommon.
t. played a holy build and skeletons weren't a problem for any build.
>>90% of the enemies in the game are resistant to holy damage
Because they're resistant to all elemental damage moron
>R2 move sucks dick
>ash sucks dick
>can't remove it or change the scaling
look how they massacred my boy
I hope you're not implying the R2 on the giant-crusher is unusable.
Against other players it absolutely is.
The Great Club's is way faster and is great to smack people going for jump attacks.

How hard does Holy Damage fall off? I wanna do a pure Ciper Pata build
Very hard. Most enemies are resistant to it. And almost all bosses are heavily resistant to it. Then you have end game bosses like Elden Beast who have like 80% Damage Resistance to it. It's fricking absurd.
There aren't really that many holy resistant enemies.
>How hard does Holy Damage fall off?
Not much at all. You can kill the Elden Beast with it pretty easily.
*by using fire which scales with faith
ACKSHUALLY you use Beast Threads. Or whatever that Faith Incantation is called. It's pure physical and it hits big enemies multiple times for thousands of damage.
That's how Faith kills bosses.
well, sure but I thought we were talking about hitting shit with weapons, not just using Ancient Dragon I Win and collecting your souls
Mmmmmmpgh Ooohmmp VerY WeLl.
TOGETHAAAAAAAA
you'll be fine if you agree to use howl of shabriri on top of golden vow or last rites
I get the feeling like they deliberately made everything resist holy damage because they wanted to encourage it as a support playstyle
by 80% on the last two bosses
sad that this is one of the shortest curved greatswords
Is this the best bleed weapon for STR? I remember using it but I swapped to the lazor sword later like a homosexual
For me, it's the omen cleaver
>+3 flask
>those bars
nice lad, you trying to clear the base game with DLC weapons or something?
i did the same, gonna beat liurnia with bone fist
Not exactly. I just want a level 1, no upgrades character to grab DLC weapons and frick around making different builds for co-op.
Now that I have a character this low level, I'm gonna farm DLC weapons, invade at low levels, and drop them for random people.
did they ever buff the beast talisman or is it still dogshit?
>beast talisman
I mean the clawmark seal. been awhile since I played. Was wondering if it ever stopped being the worst seal in the game
it was never dogshit. or at least, not the most dogshit, as that would be the frenzy seal
on my 120 STR/Faith homie the clawmark seal has like 261 power, but normally seals for faith characters get like 320-350 at that level. Feels bad trying to be a hybrid.
yeah, but pure faith characters don't get ultragreatswords. i played dex/fth with the godslayer seal and was doing solid damage overall
Is INT/FTH a meme? Planning on doing it on my dlc rerun
INT/FTH is fine, just grab some weapons you like and use weapon buffs.
But hey maybe it'll get more support in the DLC.
int/fai suffers from a lot of issues ranging from weirdly gimped base strength for its spells and gimped scaling to having no weapon support.
FRICK IT WE BONK

I really wish FromSoftware would let you change the Ash of War for the Great Club so you can make it a Heavy weapon. I don't know how to feel about it solely being a Strength/Faith weapon. It has my favorite weapon out of every colossal weapon in Elden Ring so far.
I meant to say it has my favorite move set out of every colossal weapon.

Plus the monk aspect might work well with the new barefist melee stuff the dlc is adding
i reccomend a blackflame monk build. it's pretty fun and has some nice edge to it. blackflame ritual is sorely underrated
also, i don't know if it's still like this, but if you put blackflame on your weapon then use phantom slash, your phantom guy has a blackflame damage aura around him. it doesn't do a ton of damage but it's cool i guess
if you didnt use claws, you didnt beat the game
Are you still a strength chad if you go full occult but use a colossal weapon?
STR/Arcane is one of the best types of builds, to be quite honest.
How? What does it actually get?
Marais Executioner Sword and Mohg's spear
that's about it really
Sounds like it has everything it could want
Occult Great Stars, Occult Omen Killer Machetes, Occult Star Fists, Occult Grave Scythe, or basically bleed variants of any of those if you want more Str scalling and less arc?
STR arc has plenty of options.
>Though being that high is kinda pointless.
150 is literally pvp level aka where you will get summoned most or invade
If you care about mini games, sure.
What the frick does this even mean. Don't tell me you're a 125 duelist.
He's quite obviously calling all online content a mini game.
Draeguns breh
Str/Arc, not Str/Arc/Fai
Already listed. There are several STR weapons with natural bleed. Slap on bleed or occult based on your arc stat preferences.
If you mean Somber you have three. Mohg's spear, Executioner and the really shitty Varre roses.
Charged R2s with War Cry active while using a Colossal sword or hammer deals 3 times the amount of status buildup of a normal swing.
A Blood Greatsword bleeds almost every single enemy in the game with a single R2 that way.
>make it a point to getting every single summoning point on my low level character so if I want to co-op I can co-op anywhere
>don't think too hard about getting them in high level areas too
>100% the game at level 30
>haha, time to co-op
>keep getting summoned by level 20's who want to twink but are too shit to do it alone
I feel like I should have thought about this and now that I'm experiencing this, I fricking hate it. I just wanted to co-op with people in normal zones around my level.
What else do you actually need?
my homie. long sword + knight armor, we gamin

>*Spams Starlight Shards also cheated in*
>this is 9/10 invaders
>the other 1 are meta slaves using Dual Great Lance
No wonder people hate Invaders, this shit is pathetic.
A man can only take poor little red phantom gank squads with teabagging so many times. Yesterday I had a guy disconnect after his furled finger dropped dead, the souls community has gotten that pathetic so it's no wonder the ER invasions gave gotten that toxic.
what came first, the chicken or the egg?
>He didn't effortlessly smite Radagon with the Slam of Ice and Fire
Never getting pussy
You call that "effortlessly"?
Just started a lightning build with lightning fists weapons and lightning Nagakiba. Wonder whether my investment into faith was a mistake. Looks fun so far.
Dragon lightening spells can frick hard, dw
There are two ways to do lightning. High dex Lighting WA or high faith dragon incants using electrify to give your weapon Fai benefits.
Honestly I would just do FAI/STR. Get the dragon toe hammer.

>three different talismans meant to amplify damage

>shoot Madness Beam at an invader from 3 miles away

Elden Ring has way too much damage and way too much ability to stack damage.
my holy build can't do that
>don't really use incants for damage
>holy scorpion is all I get
>holy tear
>it doesn't kill them in one hit and they kill me
Magic/sorceries I know can stack like your example
It's pretty easy.
>two seals to stack the same school of magic damage, i.e. two gravel talismans to make Dragon Cult Incantations more powerful x 2
>the two different canvas talismans to give yourself another huge boost x 2
>use spells with specific triggers then amplify those, for example, spells that you can charge then use Godfrey Icon to amplify it's charge damage by a great deal
>two different damage buffs from your Potion
I thought the game doesn't let you stack those.
>two Gravel Talismans
Meant Seals, sorry.
Pic.
It's said Staff of Loss x2 is the best staff combo in the game when using night sorceries even at rune levels.
>two Gelmir Staves
Yeah, I'm not farming that.
I did it in like 2 hours.
can you share your build? Also what's the eye thing
How do I stop myself from only using bleed weapons? They're so OP compared to other types

The Library is my gym.
Claymore, no infusion, 40 vig, no summons.
I really wish this game had something like the FUGS so I can just do the special block-attack and trade with morons all day.
>the special block-attack
Probably stunlocking bosses for le epic webumz for 43631st time this day, or seething about already nerfed to shit dex weapons on reddit

It’s such a bummer this weapon doesn’t have a unique skill or moveset that match its look.
Doesn't it have a unique hitbox compared to the rest of its weapon class though, which is why pvpgays are using it - to catch people with the giant ass hitbox?

>mfw 60% of it's HP in one single attack
heh... yeah.... i beat the game
>STR FAI
>game is kinda hard
I mean...
I'm going to beat the game with this weapon in a preparation for the DLC and you can't stop me
I'm going to play STR/INT using this with cold infusion for a new playthrough for the expansion. Only melee, without using any ranged sorceries, only using stuff like Gavel of Haima. Can't fricking wait.
>the truth broken his mind
sad
>Asmongold used dual wielding
All I need to know if it's OP. That moron always goes to the most meta shit to make up for his lack of skill.
he didn't use katanas at all
Yeah, he used dual wield halberds and killed shit in seconds before it could do anything.
Literally the most OP shit you could do.
actual cope
>str weapons are all just stupidly big or ugly large pieces of junk
gross
that one is nice for what it is, some of them are just so hideous tho
Still better than dex weapons.
But, really, you can just put any scaling on almost any weapon with the whetstones.
I hate how you just slam all of the big swords into the ground.
Real STR Chads don't abuse overtuned easy mode status effects
If you aren't exploding the blood of your enemies out of their bodies then can you really say you're truly pulverising them?
DEX never feels like you are quick enough to make up for everything you give up.
STR is by far the most satisfying way to play.
I'll never forgive From for ER's dogshit paired axe moveset.

Thanks, but I'm not planning on doing any PvP whatsoever
>I'm not planning on doing any PvP
You don't necessarily need to plan on doing PvP to do PvP. I like to drop my signs throughout my playthroughs to stock up on rune arcs by helping the host with the boss. But sometimes I just get involved in PvP when an invasion happens.
Unless you mean no online whatsoever.
>intricate faith scaling but can be buffed
>Order's Blade and Electrify Armament makes the weapon scale with the Faith portion of the used catalyst for 90 seconds (117 with Old talisman)
>flat damage buff on top
L2 is the AoW buff, it's extremely shit compared to just slapping Order's Blade (the incantation) on it.
I'm moronic and probably need to sleep. For some reason I saw R2. Sorry, anon.
>summon a guy called Cleric Velstadt for a dungeon with skeletons in it
>he has a mace
>cool, I like RP stuff
>he hits a skeleton for 1.5k
>I'm a level 38
I didn't realize how utterly insane both Blunt and Holy absolutely destroy Undead.
Kinda makes me want an area in the DLC where it's just pure Undead so some Holy Chad can absolutely dominate the shit out of it.
That is because the buff itself already give you like +100% dmg bonus to undead. And the undead themself take an extra bonus holy dmg due to their resistance. that why combo like blunt weapon+sacred blade destroys all the death birds
i remember farming for the guardian armour set then this dropped
from the very moment i saw it's moveset
i was in love
My autism won't let me use this weapon since I've read its description and found out it's made of wood
That's erdtree wood isn't it? It's powered by miracles.
