A thread for Jackbos
Trailer for the next DLC to release on the 20th of July https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6WVpKD8bJnQ
I also finally received the collector edition, I had to go outside so I only was able to screenshot a few things when home but still,.
Shopping Cart Returner Shirt $21.68 |
First, the collector edition also had an additional goodie, some kind of small frame with an art of the game, made for the 35th anniversary of FF.
Here's the tracks on the vinyl, it's only a few thing, for all the tracks you need to buy the official CD Which I bought
>Story continues right where it left off at the end of the base game, with the WoLs challenging Chaos
>There's a boss gauntlet with 3 different Bahamuts
>Next DLC will be about Gilgamesh from FF5 (and all the other games that same dude is in)
>Final DLC will be the conclusion of the story and will have Jack finally breaking free
Jackchads we just can't stop winning
Jack listening to My Way is canon.
Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if the next DLC or the second finish the story and the last DLC is an alternate ending.
Nomura personally believed that he would not have used the song had it not been Frank Sinatra’s original version.
bless the man and his autism
tbh if I could use any Frank Sinastra song for a vidya i'd do it
>3 bahamuts
caiusbros won
>>Next DLC will be about Gilgamesh from FF5 (and all the other games that same dude is in)
I can't take Gilgamesh seriously after XIV
Gilgamesh usually is a silly boy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TOrMIgf5tTU
Recently played 8 blind and this totally took me by surprise. Gilgy is just a conceptually rad character even if he's a goof.
I mean Gilgamesh isn't a serious dude beside in XV for some reason.
But considering i'm expecting the last dlc to be an alt ending, I wonder what role he will have in the ending of Jack's story
>beside in XV for some reason.
Not the same Gilgamesh, he has little or no relation to Gilgamesh as we usually see him throughout the series. I think they just wanted to do a Battle on the Big Bridge remix of their own and they figured "the character is already a Benkei reference in his own way so just call him Gilgamesh."
What if he meet the original Gilgamesh before the event of the game and took his name to honor him
>taking Gilgamesh seriously
XIV Gilgamesh is probably the closest he's been to his original V version anyway considering he's literally comic relief in his source game. His super form isn't even a proper boss in V.
Jack intro cutscene against chaos was seemingly more cinematic. Jack also was supposed to look more "demonic" when corrupted.
Fricking hell, this Nomura storyboard is incredible.
He would be an amazing mangaka.
I'm not sure if Nomura did the storyboards.
I brought my PS4 on travel just for this kek
Nomura 100% did the storyboards.
He did them for FF7 and 8, too.
main difference being that Nomura didn't wrote FFO.
He was the one who told the concept of "angry man defying fate" and is listed as character designer and creative producer, but that's all in the official credit.
I checked the credit and he's not listed in cutscenes direction or in the "storyboard" role.
He's never once been credited for those things in any prior games.
He got a "based on the story by Tetsuya Nomura" in FF7 even though he wrote like half of the plot points in that game.
The 'writing' credit goes to the person who writes the script and the dialogue. Nomura does the overarching story for a bunch of games he isn't credited for.
its really hard to tell if he did the storyboards for FFO, in my opinion anyway.
HIs kingdom hearts ones are much more stylish. He does do FF storyboards, like for 7 and 8, but the faces in this one don't seem to be exactly his style.
I checked the credit of the game for all the artist and it's pretty surreal. I expected 4-5 people max but instead there was a list of like 30 people from multiple countries, and that's just 2D artist
Why is Nomura so talented bros
IIRC he did think about going into manga. Forgot why he decided to join Square.
Did they run out of time or money or what happened here?
probably to make the scene easier. or just directional change, this type of stuff happens a lot.
Might have ran out of time, but SoP doesn't seem exceptionally high-budget to begin with.
Neon was supposed to have red hairs at first.
She looked a bit too similar to Kairi from KH when so...I prefer the ashen hairs.
Lufenian soldiers concept art. There's the normal variant and a gold variant.
Lufenian concept art.
frick I meant, Cornelian soldier.
Princess Sarah, aka Jack's waifu, concept art
These doesn't look like Nomura's. Who drew these? Ferrari?
Yeah he went uncredited for some reason, maybe cause these are characters from FF1 and the rest are new.
I suspect Nomura only did the design of the chaos gang + Astos.
Yeah this artist's designs seem to be closer to the Amano designs of the original, not the weird modern urban wear that Nomura did
Princess Mia concept art
Queen Jayce concept art.
How old is she?
Biike concept art
underrated character
Gardians concept art
Chaos Advent concept art
Notice how the armor was supposed to crack, showing Neon's face
So Chaos is actualy a womyn? I didn't play the game, just saw the J.O stones.
No. Chaos isn't real until the end of the game.
Chaos Advent is a fake chaos.
that's a chick larping as chaos
It's Neon LARPing as Chaos
It does literally crack in game and you can see her face
Shit it does? I never completely forgot.
It does but it's admittedly easy to miss. It took me until redoing that fight on Chaos mode to notice. Heck, I didnt even notice the first time around that the reason Chaos Advent loses his sword on the 2nd is because Jack shatters the sword by stomping on it.
stupid sexy chaos
And to finish for now, the Black Knight concept art.
Notice how the armor, just like Chaos Advent, looks similar to Garland chaos armor. Perhaps Astos made the knight using some memories of Jack.
The game is fricking shit and it blows my mind how much bought unreal/unity assets is in the game.
The game does not use Unity or Unreal...
He would have to play the game to know that first.
Imagine playing games on Ganker - Video Games
kek every time some homosexual comes in these threads they always reveal that they didn't actually play the fricking game
DMC5 all over again, remember everybody bawling for months that it was DmC 2 because they only saw the first five seconds of the announcement and saw Nero with shorter hair
>Trailer link isn't Never gonna give you up by Rick Astley
You have betrayed me anon.
>anon delivers
I love you anon, keep up the good work of chaos
>this flaming flop is getting a DLC
why is squeenix so moronic?
they sold a season pass, they are legally obligated to complete it.
Which is why they were able to get away with cancelling story DLC for XV because it wasn't sold as a season pass
>Which is why they were able to get away with cancelling story DLC for XV because it wasn't sold as a season pass
Was it not? I swear they sold a second season pass.
They got the Arden episode out but the others were cancelled.
It did, everything canceled made up the second season pass.
>going to be overseas for a month
>won't be able to play DLC when it comes out
Shit sucks, you guys will have to play even harder for me
The game was dark as shit in some parts, like when entering a room with minimal light sources. Googled this and a few people have this problems too. Any indications the dlc will fix it?
or i need to get a better pc?
They used a very old lighting technology, there's nothing to really be 'fixed'.
Alright anons, which OST from the game is the best?
Split between Maralith and Chaos Advent.

;__;
Tiamat and Marilith
The fricking percussion line/foreground beat to the song makes me hard
I unironically listen to shadow rising on repeat while doing sport
does it still run like shit ?
Yes, the models of the game are the reason of why. They can't make the gun run well unless they modify 90% of the models which will never happen
damn wanted to play but the slow downs on kill ruin it for me
Yeah many of the models have a gorillion vertices or whatever. IIRC the princess' harp thingy has as many polygons as Cloud or Noctis or some shit.
I'm just a scrub with a 10yo+ computer and 1050ti but I love the game regardless.
I got the game on PS4 due to this. Somehow it run at constant 60 fps even on a base PS4.
Perhaps the game was just developed with consoles in mind in it's code alone.
I wonder why the models even has so many polygons, everyone knows games must have the least polygon possible while still loooking good.
Unlikely until at least a year after the OG release. And that's if we are lucky
Yeah I'm gonna get it on PS4 as well. It seems to run way better there than on my potato computer.
JACKBROS WE CAN'T STOP WINNING HOLY SHIT
Surprise Steam release when?
Is WoL the bad guy?
No, you are.
No, you are. And even then you being the bad guy is a larger extension of you being the good guy.
does this game still run like shit and look blurry as frick on PC?
No, they fixed most of it.
What's the current version number? I see IGG Games has 1.02 uploaded.
want to play this but don't want to give in to squareshit or EGS. Are either DoDI or Fitgirl safe? Which repack should I get?
I love when they do kino songs for 20 seconds fight https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2iAEyPlm0Y&list=PLou6uxgBqCi_corfEgsduDX4SVxHBUoJJ&index=105
Where can I get the patches for my pirated copy?
is it out on steam yet?
No, probably not gonna be until the game's complete (all DLC) either. Think Nioh/Nioh 2.
90% of chance the "warrior of light" in the DLC will actually be pretenders.
This is why the design is the Dissidia WoL. it's not the true one.
Dissidia WoL is the real one and dates back to Amano's concept and promotional art for the game. Though the whole point of the game is there IS no real "chosen one" story to the world.
Would be kino if the final warrior of light has red hairs liked based on the old spirit. a design fixing the blue warrior and the red warrior.
I was hoping you'd play as WOL for the DLC.
Name this band
Dragoon, White Mage, Ninja and WoL is the final party? Huh, strange party makeup.
it's not the same group as the final. it's either fake warriors or a previous version of the Warrior of Light (with Garland doing even more timeloop until he find THE ONES)
Makes sense, starting jobs for the Jack party themselves comprise jobs found in FF1. Rough analogues for Fighter/Warrior (Jack), Black Belt (Ash), Thief (Jed), Red Mage (Neon), and Black Mage (Sophia).
So what jobs did you use lads? I ended up using Sage + a rotating one almost all the time, usually Liberator or Breaker.
Fun game, but honestly Team Ninja needs to learn to design interesting levels if they want to level up as game designers. Everything but the combat system and the last leg of the game was super forgettable.
I mostly used Warrior and Ronin
Ended up mainly choosing Dragoon, Breaker, Tyrant and Red Mage whenever I wasn't using Sage. Was actually surprised that if you're not into self-buffing, Marauder is a better choice than Berserker or Dark Knight.
Party members were fabulously well-implemented and struck an extremely difficult balance, being helpful without overshadowing you. The only other games I can think of that really accomplish that are Kingdom Hearts 1 and to a lesser extent Kingdom Hearts 3.
>Party members were fabulously well-implemented and struck an extremely difficult balance, being helpful without overshadowing you. The only other games I can think of that really accomplish that are Kingdom Hearts 1 and to a lesser extent Kingdom Hearts 3.
That's until Sophia gets Sage, learns Ultima and transforms every boss into a fuming crater. That woman is nasty.
White mage/sage for haste+occasional and breaker or whatever job for unga Weapons.
>Hastega + axe job
R A P E T R A I N
Monk/White Mage
Berserker/Red Mage
Dark Knight + Paladin, even though they're kinda ass without a dedicated build, I just found comboing them together kino
I love that they gave Dark Knight a scythe for an "axe" and scythes have skills unique to them.
Played most of chaos mode with Samurai. Once I got all the parry bonus things unlocked it was really good.
There better be a fricking transmog system, Nioh had it and they mentioned specifically excluding it but didn't give a reason why. It's really jarring when the game has job-specific armor sets.
eeeeyooooooooo
I tend to constantly swap around but Knight/Berserker is what I usually turn to whenever I hit a wall during my first playthrough. As for Chaos mode, I'm only realizing just now how good Tyrant/Breaker is.
Breaker honestly felt like the ez mode class to me. Zantetsuken does such insane damage.
For me, Breaker feels balanced by Zantetsuken needing 2MP and a full charge to make the most out of. It's Berserker that I find OP.
Why did they perfect magic system in a fricking sidegame like this? I'm pretty sure ffxvi won't have a magic system as good as this.
This is legit the first game I've ever played where I loved the magic classes. I mean sure, you can cast powerful spells in other games but it feels unsatisfying. Only Jack could pull off such a chad feat
>be mage/sage
>bash people's skulls in with a fricking mace
>use cool spells to finish them off
He did it HIS way, bros.
I never liked the Axe jobs, felt like I was taking too much damage that I couldn't afford to take later in the game.
I think the issue is they didn't stagger as much as I felt they should for all the wind up time, I usually ended up getting staggered out of my charges.
Pairing off an axe job with a job that has access to Haste mitigates a lot of that. Dark Knight is the bugaboo regardless, a job expected to tank a lot of damage that also has an HP draining active buff doesn't survive long.
It's worth it for brutal tackle alone
Use Berserk/Reinforce + Blood Weapon. Berserk and Reinforce both make you harder to stagger while Blood Weapon heals you every time you land an attack. Reinforce also speeds up charging times for charge attacks making it great for abusing Axe skills like Cyclone Rush/Tomahawk/Brutal Tackle/Starfall.
What is the best looking armor set?
And why is it red set?
I'm most partial to the Dragoon set, I love the fusion of Aranea's armor in XV with the Drachen armor from XIV and SoP's own "contemporary" or modern and sleek armor approach. The half-cape on the back is mwah.
I love that this game made me replay FF1 and read through 8bit theater again
They did a miracle and made a game with a new story that actually enhances Dissidia and FF1 by proxy.
I got back into the game and I'm at the side mission with the Tonberries. Am I supposed to magic the frick outta them or something?
Tonberries are brutal if you don't stunlock them in some way. Keep your distance if possible and duck-and-weave attack them, if you don't have access to any typical stunlock methods. They can and will one-shot you.
There's a tutorial for a gun in the game's files. Maybe with the DLC?
You can melee them but don't be greedy and hold circle as soon as you see Chef's knife come out. They don't have any particular element weaknesses that I remember but their break gauge isn't that big.
I got you Jackbro
>Aeroga
>Aeroga
>TAKE IT FROM HERE NEON
>ASH, SHOW ME WHAT YOU CAN DO
>Aeroga
>block the attacks to get MP and not die
You can cheese it by using basic mage's mp regeneration to slowly kill them with magic from far away
Remember that Soul Shield is mashable on a succesful block, so you can abuse Tonberry's multi-hit long range spells to build up your MP and you can just bombard it with spells once you've built ul enough. If you have Void Knight unlocked you can also absorb its magic attacks with Runic and then hit it with the counter.
where is my gun job
A leak of dubious nature did mention a "cannon" weapon in the dlc, it was in a previous thread
Should I keep my fingers crossed for some better optimization on last gen consoles when the new update drops or is it too much to ask for
All patches so far have had optimization work, I'd expect some progress in that regard.
Give me a Gunblade job, Nomura.
I want some kind of Shuriken/Chakram you can throw but also melee with to spice up Ninja
0 people care nor respect jack's strength. He will get raped by wol
please jesus just put this on steam already so I can fricking find people to play with online
This game was done so dirty by its advertising. The story actually ends up being pretty alright but all people see are the CHAOS? memes which admittedly are pretty entertaining
So all Final Fantasy are connected? Haven't finished the game just returned to Cornelia and got the population seething.
Am I close to the end?
Very close
Like how many hours? I've done the quests that unlocks the jobs for my party. Kinda short if I'm close to ending. 30 hour playtime. I got more out of Nioh.
I see.
>So all Final Fantasy are connected?
Only in the sense that the multiverse exists and that a handful of characters crossover from time to time.
Only 3 more dungeons to go and then one last runback to Chaos Shrine.
Sort-of-but-not-really. Final Fantasy has a shared multiverse but it's extremely, extremely difficult to travel between worlds or influence other worlds. The characters that do it with regularity are:
>Shinryu, an extremely powerful dragon
>Omega, an extremely powerful robot that chases Shinryu
>Gilgamesh, who floats aimlessly in the space between worlds after having the Banish spell casted on him, but seems to be "kind of" able to control his travel now
>The Lufenians, who are so technically advanced that they're able to influence and control their own elemental balance of light and dark. They seem to believe they're not human This is a lie, they generate darkness, a human trait
>Shantotto, the franchise's "Squirrel Girl" character who's all-powerful because the devs think it's funny
Oh I didn't know that. Good to know. I only ever remember Shinryu in X though did that dragon ever appear anywhere else? And how can Gilgamesh's differing looks each game be explained?
Shinryu and Omega both first appeared in FF5 and have made sporadic appearances since. The biggest appearance for Shinryu is Dissidia where he's central to the plot alongside Chaos and FF1's version of Cid (who did not exist in the original game, Cid is a Lufenian).
>Gilgamesh's differing looks each game be explained?
It's usually the same guy in an updated costume or wearing a cowl. Depending on the game it's also a character referencing Gilgamesh but is not the same character. FF9's Gilgamesh and Enkidu ("Enkido") are different characters but feature many of the same personality traits and tendencies, with the biggest one being Gilgamesh looking for the Excalibur II in Memoria, and FFXV's Gilgamesh is also a totally different character but this one has less in common with Gilgamesh the recurring character than FF9's.
XI's Gilgamesh is a far off portrayal from standard of Gilgamesh too, but there are also hints in that, that he's the same Gilgamesh as normal. Like I remember at one point Shantotto is talking about different worlds and how hard it is to travel them, then talks about Gilgamesh having a strange quality to him and that he seems to be able to travel worlds easier then others.
Which, if true opens the way for IX and XV's Gilgamesh to be the same Gilgamesh, and his appearance is influenced by the worlds he visits.
He's comic relief, but he's also got some of the best trials in the game. The fight with him in Kugane is so damn awesome, and suggests he kicked the crap out of a bunch of primals and stole their moves/weapons.
Could probably add Ultros and Typhon to that list. They show up as bonus bosses often and seem to be the same ones from FF6.
the thing with the Lufenians is that they are originally from Cornelia, it's just they managed to enter some kind of limbo world where they can watch most other worlds.
However, since Jack returned back in time, the Lufenians are now a paradox : because their old self probably won't be able to advance in the other dimension due to Jack now being in the past (leading to the Lufenian of FF1)
So the FFO Lufenians basically can't do shit anymore beside watching the events of other world. Jack did them the ultimate frick you.
Reminder that the canon Warriors of Light are Shadow, Kain in a dumb helmet, Mr. Finalfantasy, and Minwu.
I recognize the sets that the Dragoon and White Mage are wearing, but what is the Ninja using?
Not sure. It's not a great angle to look at his gear.
SoP's own Ninja set. It's modeled after FF5's Ninja set for Bartz.
How often do you guys actually use Lightbringer? I rarely get any significant results when I use it, so I tend to forget it exists most of the time. It also doesnt help that a lot of the cheaper Command Abilities are way too good and doesnt reduce your Max MP.
Basically never, unless I'm doing RDM meme chainspell. You have barely any time to make use of it and the max MP loss is just too harsh a trade-off for me.
Then again I never used Living Weapon or Yokai-form in Nioh/Nioh2 regularly either so maybe I just don't like using limited super moves?
Call me when they release the DLC where they optimize the frick out of their shitty code tyvm.
I didn't really get the ending, Jack reset the world but it seems like the Lufenians kind of got away with it? They just lost one station, didn't they?
Based on original FF, he should've destroyed all of the Lufenians aside from Cid.
I think when he did the thing, it prevented them from doing their thing and got them caught between worlds so they can only watch and not influence World A
Jack seems to have power over crystals in some way and the basis of their ability to reset time is a crystal structure given to them by Shinryu. Jack took it and now they have zero influence over the Cornelian world; Jack is the only one who controls the cycle and all they can do now is watch.
Also Sophia/Tiamat runs back, every single cycle, to genocide the Flying Fortress, and has apparently been doing it on almost every cycle, even with Lufenians in charge.
why is she so pissed against the fortress?
Full of Lufenians
That fortress knows good and well what it did.
>play SoPFFO
>puts on an obscure alternative metal/rock album in the background as I play
>time shit to match with the high points of the songs
I can't be the only one who does this...right?
DMC5 was a joy to play for this reason, the game's designed for its music to hit a high point when you're doing really well.
Ironically enough, DMCV was the last game I was truly hyped for before Origin. Games with this kind of edgy vibe that are gameplay-heavy are what I gravitate towards most.
I don't like most modern games where you're just walking from A to B and getting nagged at. But normalgays love it apparently.
>t. Jack
I hope the DLC cutscenes have even more moments of Jack whipping out his playlist
So what are the chances that rick roll is in the dlc?
Was it really just an accident?
I hope we actually get to use the Garland armor at some point
I hope when we fight the WoL, Jack tells him that he will knock them all down.
I hope he tells them he doesn't give a frick who they are.
