Suicide Squad "has fallen short of our expectations", say Warner Bros. Discovery

>Speaking during a financial call, Warner Bros. Discovery Chief Financial Officer, Gunnar Wiedenfels, admitted Rocksteady’s game hadn’t done the business the company had hoped for since going on sale on February 2 priced $70, saying it had “fallen short of our expectations.”
>Warner Bros. Discovery failed to mention a sales figure for Rocksteady’s game, but did say Suicide Squad’s failure had set up the company’s games business for a “tough year” when it comes to year-on-year comparisons. Last year, Warner Bros. Discovery released Hogwarts Legacy, which went on to become the best-selling game of 2023.
>Warner Bros. Discovery's comment perhaps doesn't come as much surprise, given Suicide Squad's high-profile struggles. On Steam, the live service action game peaked with 13,459 concurrent players, a figure that has fallen dramatically since launch. At the time of this article's publication, just 480 people were playing the game on Valve's platform, with a 24-hour peak of 888.

You mean a Suicide Squad game where you piss on the corpses of more popular heroes didn't work?
    How could this be

The funny thing is, they're working towards some twist where the justice league all comes back, but everyone's going to dump the game before they even get to that point. Not that it matters because even if this was a game where you played as the justice league the gameplay is all slop. The game just sucks, it has fricking MMO grinding style currencies.

Good lord. If it fell short of expectations, then it really fricked up. They knew the poor trailer reception that resulted in delays, terrible preview reception, and didn’t release review copies.

2077 was a good game all along if you had a beefy enough PC to run it and didn't expect it to be some super deep RPG which they made very clear about a year before it launched wasn't happening.

Pretty much. It's just a matter of time before Bethesda hires them to do a Starfield adaptation and then Ganker will do a 180° on the game like

                and

Nah I agree with him. Game was a 7-7.5/10 at launch if your PC could handle it. Outside of some texture / animation bugs that fixed themselves, I only encountered one problem where I had to reload to a save from 5-10 minutes ago because an event to progress a quest wasn’t being triggered. Gunplay was very solid and I enjoyed the main / side quests, I just wish there were more of them. People who were expecting a game where you could do anything should have tempered their expectations and known what they were getting from looking at CDPRs previous games. That being said, I do think it was a regression from TW3. My biggest gripes being that the world needed more interactivity outside of combat, like how TW3 had a pretty in depth card game with a lot of people to play and even some side quests oriented around it.

                did with Cyberpunk.

Why is it so hard for you to believe people thought 2077 was decent before the anime? The other anon straight up posted a screenshot of his 2021 dated completion achievement. Do you need my GoG one too?

It was by no means amazing, I even said it was a step back from TW3. While the patch / DLC did make quite a few QoL / Immersion adjustments, it didn’t change anything drastically and it basically still plays the same as it did at launch.

Because the entire company is ran by people who don't play or care what players want. It's ether cash amounts or a stupid agenda they're after. It's why so many AAA games are flopping and stuff like jrpgs are booming. It's like the other devs are focusing on fun things in their games

Because some writers are obsessed with the idea of "subverting the expectations". Harley blowing Batman's brain is one of those things that for them feels "bold" and "audacious". It's not that different from the usual "what if Superman was evil" or "we're pretending we're making a remake, but it's actually a sequel"
The Persona 3 remake having the exact same ending as the original feels like a breath of fresh air among all of those examples
