I thought the game was pretty shitty to be honest. Unless you're a soicuck Spiderman fan that has to play all if Insomniac's games, ud skip it. Your backlog looks like dogshit too. I'd honestly quit vidya if I had to play those games.

It's the game that got insomniac the spiderman license, due to its open world traversal mechanics.
It's good but not without issues. The writing is reddit incarnate which I'm sure turns some people off immediately

Sunset wasn't junky. It was just cringe and soulless. Enemies and world was really lame. Controls/gameplay was tight but just not interesting or fun

Sunset's gameplay is a lot of fun, classic insomniac ratchet and clank combat mixed with tony hawk pro skater without the board
the writing is awful, lower the voice volume if the humor is ruining your experience.
Game was really fun when I played it, but skip all the cutscenes and just play the game.
Also I played it by trying to touch the ground as few times at possible which made it more fun imo
game is incredibly fun and modular. You can cater the gameplay to make the things you enjoy more or less rewarding or the things you dislike to be as well depending on if you want a more challenging experience or a fun brain off type thing. Movement is great and you should try pressing your movement options at different spots just to see what happens. generally a is up and b is down and x is through as I recall. Never touch the floor during fights.
The gameplay and music is great, and the cringe writing grew on me eventually but I'm sure I'm an outlier on that, it just felt like a parody of the cringe that existed on the surface level.
I feel like the voice acting carried the strange writing
It did have some great voice acting now that I think about it.
The game feels like one of those fake video games that actors are playing in a movie scene except its real and you actually have all the fun they are pretending to have

I'd say it's a solid 8.5/10 game if you can stand the le-wacky dialogues. Unironically one of their best since PS2 Ratchets.
The plot really pulls you from quest to quest sometimes but then you hit that mission where your character actually questions it and the other guy responds with "why don't you stop picking apart how we deliver the narrative and just have some fricking fun?". Maybe that's reddit-tier, I don't think so, but either way they were totally right. The game respects your time and calls you on your bullshit.
the movement is really good, feels better than infamous or spiderman to me and its m&k friendly, but unfortunately it boils fights down into grinding rails in circles and shooting. the soundtrack is great and i liked the weapon and skill customization, it had a good amount of options to it.
but the writing is pure dodo. its the most cringy eye rolling shit i've ever seen in a game. worse than watchdogs 2. the main mc riffs unfunny quips every 2 seconds like a diet bugs bunny, and if you pick the female mc, she sounds like she's voiced by tara strong off 5 packs of smokes. i beat the game, but i can see it being a legitimate deal breaker for some people.

To me it was the opposite. I hate to use gamepad for any games where you need to aim, but with kb+m it was straight up impossible to do precise grind direction switches because you only have 4 buttons for 4 angles while the controls are camera-sensitive.
i mostly play on console, hacked and pirated ofc, but i had no problems playing on m&k. i just used the mouse to aim my direction and quickly tapped the keys instead of holding whenever i needed land precisely.
Fair enough. I decided there's much more moving than shooting so ended up with gamepad aiming. It was okay.
Still had to switch to kb+m to beat last high score challenges for that sweet precise aiming.
It's a good game. It emits that teenage rebellious energy like jet set radio but in a more cringy way. There is also a cameo appearance from George Floyd, who cooks fentanyl for you (that gives you various combat buffs) that you steal from monsters by killing them (allegory for homeless people).
you know those threads you sometimes see that asks "what are some games that you were tricked by Ganker into playing"? this is the game for me. borderlands tier presentation aside, people always rave on about how great moving around and that it's the highlight of the game. the first thing you'd notice is that your moving around has absolutely no momentum, you can be grinding on a rail at a breakneck 0.2mph (as indicated by the totally radical speedlines) and then jump and face the other way and your character just suspends in midair like you were jumping in place, or get magnet glued onto another rail. and it's a fricking zombie shooter. they try to do a tony hawk style combo racking system going on but what this means is that you just grind a zipline in a loop pressing jump every 2 seconds while shooting down brainless mooks.
it's a lot like pic related if you ever played it, except a billion times worse.
I found the gameplay fun, grinding on rails shooting shit across the city. Don't remember the story at all, I'm trying and all I'm getting is cringe shit.
It’s one of my favorite games from the last 10 years. It feels like something you’d have played on the PS2. The humor is gay but who gives a shit. Plus you can make some really hot female characters to play as.
A sequel would make me buy a ps5.
Only Valkyrie Elysium and Scarlet Nexus are worth playing
