>SUPER MARIO 64 (temporary)
What did Nintendo mean by this? Was Mario 64 originally going to be called something different?

they couldn't think of a decent title before it shipped because it was a very slapdash production, just like they couldn't produce visuals that you'd actually want to look at before it shipped
because mario 64 existing is only temporary, one day it will disappear and so will the memory of it and no one will know
I always knew mario had the deepest lore.
Yeah, it was going to be called "Super Mario Fricks a Giant Ugly Snatch, Featuring Luigi Mario" until they managed to get Miyamoto on his meds. This is also why no following 3D Mario has been as fun to play.
the previous game was titled super mario world. seems bit of a downscale to go from WORLD to some random number sequence
It was called Super Mario 64 because the console was called Nintendo 64, and it was called that because it was more understandable to a global audience for marketing as per Miyamoto's own words. Also, I'm pretty sure advertising back then mentioned it was a 64-bit console. Many other games followed suit on that naming scheme like Donkey Kong 64, Kirby 64, and so on.
It means the final build is not out yet, duh.
Super Mario 5
>poker
Holy shit, cut mechanic?
>temporary
this was how nintendo use to refer to not final iterations of the game.
that's how many hits you can take.
mario 64 originally had a gambling minigame where you could insert real life coins into the N64 and use it as chips in bowser's casino. trust me, my nintendo works at my dad.
That was back when the console was called the pachindo 64.
funny joke but it says POWER
>6 Poker
What does it mean? Is it a Japanese thing?
it's Power.
like you have 6 Power Points of life left before you die.
It clearly says Poker
Nips use word temporary where we use beta. We just got taste of what the finished game is going to be. It’s going to be gigakino when it releases. Trust the plan.
>What did Nintendo mean by this?
It means SM64 never lasted that long, therefore it was only temporary. This is why so many people emulate it now.
Mario if he temporary.
I always wonder why we never saw Luigi in ANY of the beta videos or commercials or anything. Apparently Miyamoto said that Luigi was in the game all the way until about 6 months before completion then they decided to take him out.
Where the frick is he in any of these old vids?
He is buried buried under that one tree.
Who do you think was recording the gameplay?
Lakitu...
I meant the video at TGS '95. Luigi was there recording the video to support his brother's game.
No, luigi was in the game as a form of co op but they couldnt find a way to make it work so they axed him really early in development, way before the first spaceworld presentation.
Where are the first 63 Super Marios?
is this the thread where we all pretend to be morons?
