You mean 4 out of 5, it's nearly a perfect game.

4/10 is a little low but it's a shockingly flat and bland experience to me now (compared to how it felt to play when I was a kid). It's such a clear step back from SMB3 that I don't know how they got away with it back then.

SMB3 fans are just mad because SMW sold better and is the more popular (and better) game

          >SMW the more popular game
          That is demonstrably untrue.

      Delusional.
It's good, but it would be remembered a lot less fondly if it wasn't literally free.

For me is like a 3/5, but I never played world growing up, we had a nes until like 1996.

I bought an old crt with only antenna inputs. Same model I had growing up. Waiting on the converters to come today. Got an hdmi to rca. Then a an rca to rf modulator. Can't take pics yet but I imagine it would look sufficiently shitty.

    I understand the 4, but I give it a 7 which is being a little generous 😀

7-8. I really like the secret exits and the more open and fun approach. SMB3 was mostly just gimmick stages around environmental worlds and I didn't enjoy that, especially since most levels were short and basic (yes, even when playing the JP version and avoiding using P-Wings, clouds or skips and beating every level), so SMW having some pure stages like some of the stuff in the Special World (the ice one, the final time limit one and the forest one) and some of the later levels in the main game (one of my favorites is the night trampoline one in the Valley of Bowser) was great, especially since there was a ton of different paths and secrets, but it's still generally not too challenging nor replayable and sticks to the Mario basics that I feel are way too average to stand out. I prefer games like the DKC trilogy or Mega Man to any 2D Mario, and that includes this one, but I really don't get why so many people on here are hating SMW lately.

I agree that DKC and Mega Man are better than any 2D Mario
      >better music
      >better graphics
      >better story
      >better gameplay

      >I prefer games like the DKC trilogy or Mega Man to any 2D Mario
Me too, only I didn't realize that until recently, and having been a lifelong Mario fan, I feel alienated from myself now.

If you don't like Super Mario World you're not a good person, raiding zoomers

Great engine and tool/moveset but the levels underutilize them. Fixed by the community.

It’s one of those games I don’t really get the appeal of. I like platformers but the Mario games (except 2) put me to sleep.

still the 2d mario game with the best player physics, it's incredible how much control over mario you have

This, I don't know how they never got the controls down quite like they did in Super Mario World ever again. Lack of discernible input delay is definitely one of the best reasons to own a CRT.
