Has anyone ever added the additional features the GBA port brought onto the SNES version of the game? Like pressing L to swap between Luigi and Mario, select button to show which stages you've collected all the yoishi coins for, the princess coins, the fast warp feature, etc? Always wanted to play the SNES version with all these features, would be a plus if someone also added the voices and color palette from the GBA version. It's always been sad you have to pick between the correct aspect ratio or the more polished product.

nope
i was wondering that too. gba version actually gives you real reason not to fly over levels because dragon coins are proper collectibles now
but then issue with gba version is that it looks too bright and is even easier than already easy original game
you cant have perfect world
There's a Super Mario World 35th anniversary hack that adds a lot of that stuff. Seeing your coins and exits is a god send.

japanese original version is the best because getting hit with a power up makes you small and not super
That was also in the US SMW, but the GBA version in Japan incorporated the two-hit damage system and it's been the standard for all Mario games everywhere since.
huh i see
The GBA version tracks your dinosaur collecting? That's pretty cool.
yeah its pretty epic to go through the game and getting them all
on the snes version they mean nothing
What do u get for getting them
they turn into peach coins
pretty bad reward but its still worth doing once i mo
besides the autumn change only happens when you get all exits
Yeah it tracks them like so in the top image, they also add dragon coins to levels they weren't originally in so all levels have them. Keeps track of who you beat what level with too and time and once you've beaten bowser you can use it to fast travel to levels.
The bottom picture is what the coins turn into, similar to the other GBA games they don't really do anything its just a cosmetic change to show you've done it
>the soulful curved apple stem vs the soulless straight apple stem
GBA color palette is atrocious
it was made to compensate the lack of backlight
There are patches to fix that
i know but for some reason OP wanted this palette on the snes version...
Its brighter which is what Miyamoto-san was originally going for.
originally, ridley scott wanted the alien to look straight at the camera and say "hello" for the movie's ending.
sometimes ideas are better left to rest...
this still somewhat can be helpful even today. ie you playing outside on shitty lcd where you can barely see shit, brightness increase helps a lot there actually
i miss reflective screens. how did we go from 0 backlight and you can see perfectly outside to maximum brightness and overheating but you still cant see the screen outside
Not how it looks like on a AGS-101 screen.
I don't believe you
Hard to take a picture with a phone camera, the contrast is way better when using it in person though, nothing like the palette shown in the screenshots above.
I guess most people don't have 101 screens but aftermarket replacements that frick the colors more.
Don't have to believe me though, just wanted to mention that as someone who does use a AGS-101.
Looks like your phone is compensating for the brightness, I can't even see the bush shadows being another shade
I can see the apples being much redder though
>the voices and color palette
bait
Score map yes. What are princess coins again? Luigi is gay and level design was aimed around mario's features.
>gba
>more polished
Play more than the vanilla garbage games. Jesus. They're so fricking easy.
Ive always loved the progression screen on the GBA Version.
But the color palette is awful...
I like the idea that this thread is putting on the table, adding many of the elements from the GBA port to the SNES Rom sounds like an amazing idea, honestly, SMW is peak Mario.
I'm not sure what everyone is b***hing about - the palette has been fixed for a while:

Same with the music being off:

Yes.

Ruined by unnecessarily inserting his name into the intro like he had anything to do with production, and ruined because of the "muh 30 year anniversary" title screen. That's just what I saw in two minutes. Frick homosexuals like this. Just use the available assets. No one cares about your personal touches. They look foreign; like they DON'T BELONG.
Okay. SMW is piss-easy for babies anyway. So it's all gucci.
Don't forget Yoshi's island too. Arguably the most impactful changes of the gba remakes. Six new levels and they're all hard as hell.
