ultimate is not only boring competitively it's also a shit game to play, like the last 2 smash titles. Smash has devolved to roster/crossover circlejerking, brawl, 4, and ult have horrible gameplay
Melee is dead because the big players are either gone or not as prominent as before. Armada/M2K retired, Hbox is primarily a businessman and continues to play melee jigglypuff as part of his "brand", mango is a diva who throws a hissyfit anytime he wets his pants, leffen has a significant amount of his comp time on other FGs. Zain exists as the top dog but eh. Melee's peak was 2016-2018 (arguably 2015 too), it's been downhill since armada left.

What's interesting about it? I think players are better at tech but fundamentals have gone down the drain. A yoshi/ice climbers would never ever win a major back in 2017, yet here we have players raping with mid tiers because players don't care about fundamentals anymore
