I liked it. I played it seriously for the first time 10 years ago or so.
It's pretty good. If you get past the first part and level a bit it's a pretty smooth curve through the rest of the game. I still enjoy the mix of horror-theming/adventure game design/RPG-gameplay.
i remember giving this a shot in the early 2000s. it was the first time i ever played a translated rom. i absolutely love the aesthetic. but i remember not getting far in the game. even though i grew up with turn based rpgs, i find playing the nes ones a bit too slow and annoying.
It's always surprised me that no one's tried to capitalize on the Resident Evil connection and bring the movie to the US. It seems like the kind of thing that would be right up Discotek's alley.

The movie's pretty weak... impressive giant ghost puppet at the end, though
The game is okay. While it could be interesting to control two teams, it quickly becomes tedious since you always need to swap your teams to use one special ability (tool) to advance.
The movie is pretty average, too.
Imagine if we had a Hausu game instead.
Played a translation of it ages ago and really enjoyed it, should probably play it again soon.
We need more genuine horror RPGs in this miserable timeline of ours.
I think it's neat and I like the ideas and mechanics a lot, but even though I enjoy Dragon Quest I lost interest early on. I guess I found walking back and forth with the separate parties a bit tedious.
If you're not used to it, it's hard for people to adapt. It also has permanent death for characters. I remember that being weird to me when I first played it as a kid.
I think Deathlord on Apple II and C64 was the worst. Get killed once? Game over and it writes your death to the save file so you have to start over from the beginning. And this was a long game.
its one of the best games ever made and not an rpg at all. you wont get far in the labyrinth if you rely on conventional grinding. you need to plan resources and split your team accordingly. the random battles make for excellent tension, in fact this famicom is more survival horror than any of the biohazards.
>Was also inspired by other stuff but yes, Sweet Home was a big one.
I dislike how it's mostly reminded as a VN now... the PC-98 original is where its at.
Blood covered repeated fear was pretty great, but everything that came after it, including the anime just turned into edgy dogshit
the manga was really good though at least
Agreed, it was a worthy remake, but instead of it attracting the horror audience, it attracted the teenage audience that's into edge, shipping and yuri, usually all of them... and they catered to that ever since.
Wish we had more ACTUAL horror RPGs instead of "horror" games 5hat happened to be made made in RPG Maker
Perut-Em-Heru was good

Good stuff.
very detailed for a NES game

yea you kinda had to be there
as in japan in the 80s
NES is the far and away the best console ever made. Get a bigger brain.
That's not how you spell Amiga
Amiga's a computer not a console.
But yes it's a great platform for games
Only ever watched the movie

That home doesn't look very sweet to me
It's because of the song. The game is set in Alabama.

The reason why I dropped the game
>oh no i have to plan my party and resources
just say you hate old games and go back to /v.

Well, to be fair they advertised it right in the name.

This is some good pixel art. I especially like how they did the sword
It’s a fun game!
Great game. Me and my wife cleared it together a few years ago. This is one of those games that's worth learning Japanese for.
It inspired Corpse Party, so I love it for that alone.
>that VN
Was also inspired by other stuff but yes, Sweet Home was a big one.

Is that the VN where you can frick a girl possessed by a e-girl ghost I think?
I'm surprised no one posted the pasta yet.
Which one?
