The Switch was a good return to form era but be honest most of it's library, while good, is pretty standard Nintendo stuff.
They need to start putting out games on par with what they were doing for Gamecube. Just do more weird shit that makes it stand out, make a game where you play as Zelda, do a Kirby RPG, do a fully singleplayer Splatoon, it doesn't have to be the next BOTW, just do something inventive and do it good, picrel.
The Switch library already has a lot of weird stuff. We've just either gotten used to it or forgot about it since it was a while ago >Open world Zelda >Mario acting like Kirby by capturing enemies >Mario teams up with the Rabbids and uses a gun in an XCOM-like game >Cardboard constructor >Sushi game >Marvel Ultimate Alliance >Crypt of the Necrodancer meets Zelda >Battle Royale game with Tetris >Fire Emblem Harry Potter >Astral Chain, aka Platinum making a cyberpunk anime cop game >RPG where you have to exercise to move and attack >Buddy cop VN (JP only) >Remakes of the Famicom Detective Club games of all things >Metroid Dread - the game everyone thought was cancelled back in 2005 >Open world Pokemon (Arceus not S/V) >Bayonetta storybook adventure >Mario, Pacman, and F-Zero Battle Royale games
Can't imagine why it wouldn't be, especially with the way their online service is set up now. That's why I expect this will be less of a case of "lightning striking twice," and more "Switch, Part 2." Not a revolution, maybe just an upgrade and a continuation of what they've been doing for the past few years
Though, hopefully that means some actual new games and not just the downgraded things they've squeezed out the past few years to extend the Switch's lifespan (and maybe some decent fricking mario sports games too)
Well like the Switch is Xbox 360 tier so how could the Switch 2 not at least be base PS4 tier? My guess is that it will have a much better cpu than the base ps4 but the gpu will be about the power of the base ps4. It will probably end up being some middle ground thing between ps4 and series s.
>mario kart 9 >3D mario >metroid prime 4 >monolith soft new IP >kid icarus uprising remaster >monhun wilds, ff7R and a bunch of other modern third parties
nintendo about to save vidya again while Ganker dilates to death once more, can't wait
I'm kinda looking forward to this. I didn't really care at all about the reveal of the PS5 and Xbox Series X. You never know what Nintendo is going to do. They could do something mental and outlandish.
>They could do something mental and outlandish.
they'd be highly moronic to not do a simple powered up switch considering
A) Everyone wants that
B) They fused their console and handheld dev teams
C) Their consoles have ALWAYS declined in sales (except Wii) until this.
Nintendo's goal is to make the Switch, look like the fat DS when compared to the Lite / DSi.
Think a smaller increase in power, but a larger improvement in build quality, industrial design, and mainstream appeal.
It's hard not to, Nintendo needs to go full moronic to make it flop. Even if it doesn't sell as much as the current Switch, it's probably a 100 million+ seller.
I get your point but it probably won't be as powerful as the series s considering it is a portable. Could see it being closer to the ps4 pro or whatever the xbox 1 pro was called.
I just don't see it being PS4 Pro or Xbox One X (Xbone Pro) levels of powerful. x86 handheld PCs that are vaguely in that ballpark and are played at higher screen resolutions (like 1080p or even 1200p) do not have long battery life, especially when you give their APU the power needed to run graphically intensive titles well. Even the Steam Deck's battery life can take a major hit when running more graphically demanding titles.
Plus they're a lot more expensive than what Nintendo usually charges their products, and that still feels like more than what Nintendo would ordinarily do in terms of follow up consoles. I think it's more fair to expect something along the lines of a base Xbone or base PS4 when docked, with concessions being made when played portably.
if they're still going with the soc that was in the leaked documents from the nvidia hack and if the chip is clocked at the same speed as the original switch, the switch 2 should be around 3.5 teraflops docked so between ps4 and ps4 pro
Why do people try to do a console war thing between Sony and Nintendo considering these days most people who have a PS4/PS5 probably have a Switch as well. Its like how a lot of people who had the Wii probably had an Xbox 360 or PS3 as well.
>Why do people try to do a console war thing between Sony and Nintendo
because sony fans have been anally devastated at the switch's success since its release, how new r u
Well the point I was trying to make was who are these sony fans when most people have both consoles. Its not like the Ps1/n64, PS2/Gamecube era. Who the hell is a fan of any one machine these days.
Because the schizos who waste their lives sucking off a multinational corporation in a mongolian tapestry weaving seminar are not part of that overlap, and they also happen to be very vocal with their moronation.
My Switch doesn't get much action. I do appreciate a lot of the older ports but really all that tells me is I should have waited for the Steam Deck instead of buying a Switch. That's probably what I will do when I finally decide to upgrade on portable.
>it's going to be much better than the Switch
the rumors are promising but often with nintendo the actual hardware ends up being much worse than what the "leaks" implied
It's not that they're a significant percentage of the people playing games, but they're far more likely to post their ugly mugs online in a desperate attempt to get validation for their mental illness.
>a hostage of the Pokemon franchise
used to be just like you, started as a kid and didn't skip an entry until BDSP came along. Couldn't justify it for sixty fricking dollars, haven't looked back.
will be interesting to see how bad they fumble naming and marketing it, having been burned by the wii u.
least moronic thing they could do is just call it "switch 2" and label all its games "only compatible with switch 2" but they have too much pride to do that so comedy will ensue.
Nintendo needs to quit being a b***h and make a similar service like Steam so people can play their games on PC. Otherwise Nintendo will fall into irrelevancy.
No.
why not? they have a winning formula and negative competition.
Nintendo has never followed a hit with a hit.
?????
>Nintendo has never followed a hit with a hit.
NES and SNES?
1(One)(Uno) time.
PS5 is just a boosted PS4. If Switch 2 is a boosted Switch, it's game over for you.
If it's named the switch 2 it won't do well. See: Wii U.
Wait I'm moronic. But PS5 isn't doing that well.
>Nintendo has never followed a hit with a hit
Game Boy to GBA to DS. GBA was replaced by the DS in only 3 years and still cleared 80 million

If they could do less ports next time, that'd be nice,
My guess is it'll probably do decent but not as well as the first Switch, though it is a wildcard.
>do a Kirby RPG
Based, long overdue.
The Switch library already has a lot of weird stuff. We've just either gotten used to it or forgot about it since it was a while ago

>Open world Pokemon (Arceus not S/V)
>Bayonetta storybook adventure
>Mario, Pacman, and F-Zero Battle Royale games
this is actually a fair point. It's certainly more inventive than it's been in the Wii and Wii U days. Maybe they just need to keep it going.
only if it's backwards compatible
Can't imagine why it wouldn't be, especially with the way their online service is set up now. That's why I expect this will be less of a case of "lightning striking twice," and more "Switch, Part 2." So Sony can do it but not Nintendo? Only a Snoy asks that question, OP.
Only if it has the power of the base PS4 in handheld mode, otherwise is a dead console for third party AAA
Well like the Switch is Xbox 360 tier so how could the Switch 2 not at least be base PS4 tier? My guess is that it will have a much better cpu than the base ps4 but the gpu will be about the power of the base ps4. It will probably end up being some middle ground thing between ps4 and series s.

never count them out
>Can they make lightning strike twice?
yeah, just not one after the other anymore.
The Switch 1 will be the “Series S” and will play new games, they’ll just look like shit in comparison. It’s the ONLY way to keep the momentum.
I get your point but it probably won't be as powerful as the series s considering it is a portable. Could see it being closer to the ps4 pro or whatever the xbox 1 pro was called.

Bets of Nintendo calling the new Switch literally the 'New Switch'?
You mean like the Wii 'U'?
Damn near certain.
I don't think it'll be Switch 2 but New Switch would be hogwash
>Super Switch
>Switch Advance
>Switch Plus
any of these would be better than that.
It will be called the Switcheroo
My Switch doesn't get much action. I do appreciate a lot of the older ports but really all that tells me is I should have waited for the Steam Deck instead of buying a Switch. That's probably what I will do when I finally decide to upgrade on portable.
I'm convinced it's going to be much better than the Switch, just not as big of a hit. 100m+ will be easy though.
>it's going to be much better than the Switch
the rumors are promising but often with nintendo the actual hardware ends up being much worse than what the "leaks" implied
Only if it can run current gen games.
"current gen" games are still mostly ps4 games
nintendo consoles haven't been running current gen since the n64
I think they're referring to it being able to run Switch games. I'd bet Switch 2 is backwards compatible though.
By the time Nintendo makes a system that can run current gen games, everyone else will be two generations ahead.
I can't wait for this thing to drop and embarrass everyone who bought a steam deck
someone post that one botw image
why are so many gamers trans?
It's not that they're a significant percentage of the people playing games, but they're far more likely to post their ugly mugs online in a desperate attempt to get validation for their mental illness.
the switch 2 is gonna be called the switch up. calling it now
The original switch will be instantly obsolete when switch 2 releases since switch hardware is trash right now.
Nintendo fans are really stupid, including me, a hostage of the Pokemon franchise.
>a hostage of the Pokemon franchise
used to be just like you, started as a kid and didn't skip an entry until BDSP came along. Couldn't justify it for sixty fricking dollars, haven't looked back.
>The original switch will be instantly obsolete when switch 2 releases
what point are you trying to make here exactly
switch is 7 year old, it's been obsolete for a while
>tfw Nintendo will never release an oval shaped console called the Game2ube
KINO
>twoube
SwitchCube
will be interesting to see how bad they fumble naming and marketing it, having been burned by the wii u.
least moronic thing they could do is just call it "switch 2" and label all its games "only compatible with switch 2" but they have too much pride to do that so comedy will ensue.
When's Microsoft bringing Fallout, Halo, and Fable to the Switch 2?
no
Hardware doesn't matter if there are no fricking games.
Nintendo needs to quit being a b***h and make a similar service like Steam so people can play their games on PC. Otherwise Nintendo will fall into irrelevancy.
