They were in the past because it made developers come up with creative solutions to circumvent limitations, sometimes even affecting the identity and legacy of an IP. Silent Hill's a famous example of this, its use of fog is iconic but it was originally there to hide the PS1's notoriously shitty draw distances.
This has already been known for ages.
Why do you think all the AA games overwhelmingly ended up on handhelds like the PSP, 3DS, Vita, and now the Switch. Instead of you know, Xbox, PS3/4/5, or even Wii U or whatever.
If it's fully backwards compatible I might get it within the first year. It's stupid to buy a console at launch due to God knows what kind of technical issues and scant launch support.
I'm so sick of nintendo hamstringing their games with these dogshit consoles. BOTW, TOTK, and All 3 Xenoblade games ran like absolute DOGSHIT on the switch. My switch quickly turned from the main way I played games, to only nintendo and indie games, to only nintendo games, to dust collector.
Only if it's >just as portable as the Switch Lite >has a big OLED screen >no risk of stick drift >runs games AT THE VERY LEAST 720p60 consistently undocked >good battery life >customizable home screen
Imagine thinking Bobby Kotick knows what the frick he's talking about. Dude has probably never TOUCHED a videogame system in his entire life. He's a suit.
And I hate that we are going to see nothing but this fricking thread every single fricking day for over a year until the next hardware comes out. Frick me.
I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that the first couple years of Super Switch games will also be on Switch. I'll probably hold out for the inevitable second model of whatever follows the Switch.
1. Kotick said gen 8, which goes from 1.3TF Xbox One to 6TF Xbox One X.
2. Kotick also said he doesn't know the actual specs
3. The email which included the discussed conversation was from 2019
4. We've also known the specs since the Nvidia hack in 2020: >T239 chip has 1536 Ampere Cuda cores, 48 Tensor cores, 12 RT cores and 128bit memory bus >T239 uses a single cluster, 8 core CPU (likely pointing to Cortex-A78C)
At current Switch clocks that results in 1.4TF portable and 2.3TF docked + DLSS on top of all that.
6x stronger GPU than Switch and CPU that runs circles around PS4's Jaguar
can't wait to play:
Mario Bros. remake again
more Metroid remasters
more Zelda's ubisoft adventure
same pokemon game with less pokemon
$60 ports of N64 and Wii games
>believes
BLOODBORNE FOR SWITCH 2 FRICKING CONFIRMED
>Actually, hardware limitations are a good thing because
The cope has already begun
do you seriously expect a handheld to reach ps5-tier performance?
Nice reading comprehension
No dude hardware limitations are good because it makes companies get creative and stylize their games so they still look great.
>post a shitty generic JRPG
weebs are a blight
it's sarcasm dumbass, the pic looks like ass obviously
At least beano looks neat.

>he thinks PS4 isn't a gen behind PS5
okay moron
>hardware limitations are only ok if you are tethered to a wall
Portability/hybrid > whatever you think is good
Pico 8 is a thing.
Creative, low budget games and movies are a thing.
Limitations are known to foster creativity. Known as in we know this. Fool.
My man.
This has already been known for ages.

maybe if nintendo brings golden sun back
>2012 console tech instead of 2012 tablet tech
thanks nintendo!
It should be at least on par with the series S

Good luck 60fps isent happening
>no risk of stick drift
Literally every stick gets drift.
not before 2017
>not even as strong as 10 year old hardware
fricking... how
'on par' does not mean 'slightly below'
Also name a single important game that doesn't run on PS4 hardware. NOT SO FAST, Barry.
fricking brazil-cels need to be rangeblocked
this is a misquote. nintendo hasn't revealed specs to anyone outside the company yet
I'm sure nobody knows the specs but this is probably what someone told them to expect
Doesnt matter when their games look like shit.
didnt the uncharted franchise pulled a bunch of mega scummy bullshots on their trailers?
Yep, Uncharted 3 was famour for it
i'll get it but only because 1.0 nintendo systems are the only thing hackable
heh
Unironically:
How does the Steam Deck compare to a PS4 or XBONE?
It's probably exactly that
its somewhere inbetween a ps4 and PS5 when you compare how games actually run
troony thread
We know from the nvidia leaks that the switch 2 is actually around xbox series s tier, at lesst gpu wise
source

why not at last ps4 pro power

Already got a Deck
Having to open protondb every time you want to play a new game is ass
>on par with PS4 and Xbox One
lozl and lozmao.
>still going to be 1080p 30fps at best
lmao holy shit
Switch already does 1080p 60fps
Name 3 games
Steam Deck is $600, 800p why the frick would switch be 1080p?
If its BC then day one
If it's retrocompatible then maybe
No point since deck exists
deck flopped
>deck
Useless one trick pony
>what will be a ninth generation console will be on par eighth generation performance
>believes
Enough to run all current games in 700p upscaled at 30fps
Good enough for me. Graphics mostly peaked during the 7th gen anyway. Art design is far more important.
Nvidia Orin is DOA, so what is nintendo going to build it out of, and what shitty RAM layout is it going to have?
never ever
CARL THIS IS THE AAAAAAAAAAWK 60TH TIME YOU'VE TOLD US ABOUT A SWITCH PRO
This means stemadeck won't be able to run switch 2 games. Hell it barely runs regular switch games
I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that the first couple years of Super Switch games will also be on Switch. I'll probably hold out for the inevitable second model of whatever follows the Switch.
>on par with outdated console
I am so tired of nintendos gimmicks.
Just give a good up to date console.
Day one.
Better have
>Dark Souls Trilogy
>Elden Ring
>AC6
>Mario 3D all Stars
>Metal Gear Solid Master Collection
>FF 7,8,9
>Doom 1,2,64
I'll get it when Homebrew becomes available. I'm not paying for $70 games.

>OP, being a tendie troony took it as a fact
lmao
>PS4, this time with games other than 3rd person cinematic action games and FPS
Sign me the frick up
