There are definitely still affordable options, my only gripe with modern phones is their need to be xboxhueg, I have pretty large hands and the s6 was the perfect size.
If you're not america, xiaomi phone with custom rom is the best bang for your buck. Clean os with shit like lineage and come with headphone jack and sd card slot. If you aren't lucky, you can get defective hardware though. Their QA is shit
