It looks pretty good, and it runs better than DR2. If VR will be anyhow near as performant as flat mode, I dig it. Also, god damn, finally new rally content, all of the new stages, couple of new cool cars, I'm really happy this game dropped.

what? ue handles VR like it's nothing, I even have a bunch of UE5 VR projects and they were all as easy as selecting vr start scene and getting the right plugin. there's even a guy who wrote ue4/5 VR injector because apparently doing that to non-vr games is as easy as injecting the right libraries and then stitching the game together to use the right player actor thingy

One of the tings that really annoy me is the smear/ghosting of shadows or dark, moving objects in Unreal. I've seen people complain about it in different games and the devs said that its a "quirk" of the engine and there's nothing that can be done about it. Once you notice it you can't unsee it and its really fricking ugly and distracting.

Pic related, its the shadow of a helicopter.

It's a TAA or DLSS (or both) artifact. It's insane to me that devs still do this shit a fricking decade after UE4's release. And I know it's not really an engine problem because there are games that don't do this and look better.

        Anonymous

        >Check if it's not just TAA
not him but some games are designed around TAA and if you turn it off or switch to a different AA method it WILL make your eyes bleed. In layman terms, the base sharpness of the game is turned so high up you need the smoothing effect to be playable and bearable on the eyes.

I wish I were joking but that's the case in some UE games.

It's a nice piece of vidya. Graphics look just fine, not too dramatic, but definitely far from ugly, plus it's not like you have time to appreciate graphics in rally games where you hyperfocus on not dying all the time. Content variety is great, lots of stages, lots of new cars and classes. Gonna have fun for quite some time with all of that.

Though i was disappointed to hell and beyond when i realized that setting stages in winter season does not mean there will be snow in snowy countries, that was bullshit. Webm related is how winter in finland looks like, apparently.

i did lowest tier of amateur rally IRL (which is really more of conegayging) and i went out of money after two events. i hit race tracks every now and then, but overall, sim racing (or even just less-sim-ish cool car vidya like dirt rally) is not a direct replacement for driving, it's something you enjoy alongside each other
