Didn't like it in Rise, it doesn't flow as well as it did in World. And no I didn't spam perfect rush, I preferred staying on the ground with endless combos.
The shield attacks were much better in Rise, though. Fast and they actually knocked monsters out fairly often. They have this weird laggy hitstop and don't do jack shit in World.
world or rise, just pick which gimmicks you like more or if graphics is a deal breaker, old gen can be a pain to get into and they're very different. GU is still fine I guess, lots of qol, but again it's nearly a different franchise. the older you go the less qol there is.
I played the original game on the PS2 and playing Wirld now. Being actually aware of the difference seeing morons like you type stupid shit like this is genuinely cringeworthy.
Monster hunters were never hard, just had cumbersome controls, outdated gameplay and lots of unnecessary grinding.
The fact that people keep seething at World for adding much needed QoL adjustments is always hilarious to me.
What do they seethe about? The fact you don't need to throw paintballs anymore?
Worst part of World is the grapple beetle and then Iceborne doubled down on it by having you grapple onto enemies, and you can barely beat some enemies without it.
World base game already got impossible at 9 star quests because they try to nudge you to buy the Iceborne DLC for all the new mechanics
Between world and rise I've been warming up to the bow. It's great for speed farming the frick out of just about anything I don't like fighting but still makes it feel I think it's still about as easy once you get the dashing down and aren't trying to play it without gear like I actually have to try a bit compared to the bowguns.
>literally my mom's sword and shield
vs. >A SWORD AND SHIELD COMBO WITH A SHIELD THAT CAN FUSE WITH THE SWORD, TURNING IT INTO AN EXPLOSIVE AXE
Sorry buddy, it's clear who the winner here is. Don't blame the rule of cool.
how large should a shield be? i like the idea of having a smaller shield. that way, you are more mobile and can both block hits and also hit people with the mini-shield.
You don't really block hits with a small shield, you parry them. A big attack coming at you would probably tear through both the shield and your arm if the shield isn't big and sturdy

Well, for me, that's one of the reasons I can't bring myself to play S&S in MH. I love sword-and-board combat against humanoid opponents (parrying, blocking, bashing), but it seems ridiculous to bring a little human-sized shield against these big-ass monsters. The lances' giant shields seem more appropriate for monster hunting, even if their only use is blocking.
Holy shit what is that cancer filename OP?
I like the Sword and Shield
samegay
You like taking an extra 10 minutes to kill a monster? Cool.
STAB STAB STAB STAB STAB STAB
GET PERFECT RUSHED GET PERFECT RUSHED GET PERFECT RUSHED GET PERFECT RUSHED
>world bab posts a dead meme
yeah checks out

They got buffed in IB and I used them a fair amount, especially for the first KO.
I like Gunlance
Never even tried any other weapon
THAT'S WHY YOU'RE THE BEST BOSS
which MonHun is easy for newbies?
GU, World and RIse.
The one you can play with friends

world and rise are babies first vidya shit so you'll be fine with those

Wait for MH6 it will combine the best of 4U, World, and Sunbreak.
World, hands down

>unnecessary grinding
>missing QoL
those things makes a game hard, not in a good way but hard nonetheless
Grimding is not hard. Might as well consider candy crush players as hardcore gamers.
Imagine if the superior west made a Monster Hunter type game with good controls and modern gameplay...
Yes its hard nips like it because its hard so they have to play with friends thats fricking why its poppular in japland
MHP3rd, World is bad for beginners in that its QoL will spoil a lot of people, especially if they wanna try out GU or 4U.
Hey that’s really cool and super neato for you 🙂 <3
I only like it in NOW
It's a beginners weapon. What newbs use before they graduate to advanced weapons like the charge blade.
I use it in master rank hunts but only when there’s a full party.
>monster hunter
>advanced weapons
Pick one and only one
Name a single game with more advanced weapons than Monster Hunter
Nioh.
So many of you gays have never played portable 3rd and it actually makes me sad.
P3rd is still my favorite MH.
Switch axe is goated. Last Wyverian said it's only the 9th most popular weapon tho.
If only the weapon wasnt left handed of use it.
All weapons should be left handed by default
Charge blade mogs the shit out of it.

Bow was good before they made it meta to just spam one attack and not even bother with the regular charging shots

I don't need to put MY shield on a long pole to knock a monster the FRICK out.
but I can backstep
I hate that world ruined this and Greatsword. They where perfect before
>Sword and Shield
>Not Sword and Board
You didn't actually like the thing
MY MISSIONARIES IN A FOREIGN FIELD
Can I interest you in a Shield & Sword instead?
For me it's Lance.
