It's got nothing to do with power. The storage is that low because they expect you to buy a microSD card. Additional onboard storage just drives up the cost, it's basically just there for edge cases like soneone without a card yet who's downloading DLC or their first digital game.
Dumbass, at least attempt the article in the OP. They say it will use Tegra T239, the chip that was in the Nvidia hack, and it smokes PS4.
You can't just pick parts of the """""rumor""""" you want and ignore the rest.
It hasn't been used in anything yet. We only know about it from the Nvidia hack last year when it was still being worked on and hasn't been taped out >T239 chip has 1536 Ampere Cuda cores, 48 Tensor cores, 12 RT cores and 128bit memory bus >T239 uses a single cluster, 8 core CPU (likely pointing to Cortex-A78C)
>same report also says 120Hz display
Whoever made this prediction is a tech illiterate moron. It's another nothingburger, people should just wait for the fricking reveal if this is the level of shit they're adding to the discussion.
Uh actually my uncle's homosexual lover(he doesn't tell his wife about)'s niece works with a guy who was Miyamoto's whipping boy until he got too old in late 2023 and he said that that's the Switch Mini 2 and not the Switch 2 Pro which will have 64GB of ram and 1TB of Storage. This information is two weeks old unfortunately, so they've probably upgraded to 2TB since.
No, it doesn't, matter of fact it needs less gimmicks to bring the cost down because gimmicks are gay. Just make a normal platform and stop playing gimmick snowflake.

If they give people more memory on the base model developers will make larger games. They're doing everyone a favor. Really we should thank Nintendo for hardcapping devs to 64 gigabytes per game.

There is no way this is true. Literally only a mouth breather would believe this report. SSDs get cheaper and cheaper every year, and they are very small. There is literally no reason it would have such limited storage.
Unless nintendo wants to start selling cloud storage like apple. But I highly doubt they are going that route.
>There is literally no reason it would have such limited storage.
unless they want to push cart's that is, Carts are in shop's and attract kids when shopping getting kid's into the nintendo ecosystem it also lets people who dont keep up with gaming magazines and sights see what's new out when shopping most normies dont check the digital store often if at all, It would be a smart move when the competition is trying to dump brick and morter.
>Their whole strategy is to get people paying monthly subscription.
if they are that stupid they can join the rest of the failing streaming services unless you are the only game in town it's a failing industry production is expensive people play/watch everything they wanted within a few years then you need to spend shit tons making loads of games to keep subscribers and even then they subscribe for a few months a year and bing what they want.
It can be be cheap, last a long time between charges, and behind upwards of two gens or it can be powerful, last 10 minutes, expensive, and still at least a gen behind thanks to physics. Those are your options.
>but muh dock
Just buy one of the others or - better yet - a proper PC and stop being beholden to a ™ if you don't want a handheld from the company whose niche has ALWAYS been handhelds, dipshit.
>Just buy one of the others or - better yet - a proper PC
do you really think zoomers can work a pc they are worse than boomers when it comes to machines.
And? Are you just going to ignore the fact that it's a handheld because of the (mostly western) marketing nobody gives a shit about and pretend a handheld can do what knock off PCS can or should without going way up in cost?
Power gays only have themselves to blame for massive increases to cost.
Nintendo has been absolutely mogging the industry with less powerful hardware for 2 decades now and you homosexuals still b***h and whine about them doing it again.
There is no actual way they would make it this weak. Pretty sure 64 gigs isnt enough for like most AAA games that are to be released over the next 8 years.
Why do you keep equating storage with power? Are you moronic? The internal storage is the bare minimum to drive costs down and then they expect you to get a SD card. PSP, 3DS, Vita and Switch were all like this.
no one cares about sales, stop pretending to be a nintendo shareholder. why wouldnt people b***h about some shitty port tablet with broken unity student tier pokemon games?
Nintendo has only isolated themselves in a very fragile mobile market with a garbage machine that has no games. Even their first party games are lazy as frick remakes these days, like TOTK.
You can pretend adding a HDMI dock = home console, but with that logic, you might as well sat The Sega Game Gear and Nomad were home consoles.
The SW for as succesful as it was, still marked a big retreat out of the core console market.
Better that they just stop pretending to care about the connect to a TV shitter entirely. No one wants them. Not theirs at least.
All of their non-handhelds are flops in comparison to them so the argument they're making has always been moronic when people demonstrably don't want them. >GB family outsold the NES and SNES combined >GBA family pushed that over both the N64 and GC as well >DS family outsold the Wii by over 50%. >3DS family outsold the Wii U by 460%

Storage isn’t a real concern considering how cheap SD cards can be but I admit I was hoping for 12 GB of RAM. It’s not the end of the world but I hope it’s not the case that it’s only 8
8 GB of DDR5 RAM for software
4 GB of DDR4 RAM for OS/Switch Games
64GB Flash storage consumer unit for 399
256GB SSD storage Professional unit for 499
The Screen and console supports VRR and 120hz(For OS menus only)
Releases in June, Reveal in Mid April.

Thats beyond moronic, you're not even trying
Technically yes, but no
I ain't believing shit until I see a chinese kid taking a picture in the manufacturing warehouse like LAST time.
It doesn't matter if it's cheaper if they can make a profit.
The last and only time they sold for a loss was the Wii U hoping to make costs back from software (they did)
The Console itself only costed 129 dollars, but the controller for the Wii U was 450 dollar cost from the 5.2 GHz decoder it used to stream wirelessly.
>8 GB of DDR5 RAM for software >4 GB of DDR4 RAM for OS/Switch Games
what the frick does this mean?
8GB of ram for switch 2 games, while it only uses a different allocated set of 4GB ram for switch games???
does that also mean it'll be backwards compatible?
if so does that mean switch games will run like shit since only 4GB of ram will be used for them
It only has to get to about PS4 Pro/Xbox Series S level to still be a significant competitor. The future of gaming until Switch 3 will be middle market and indie titles not the dozen or so bloated AAA titles which people will just play on PC anyway.
>african model from europe dresses up as a tribal savage and pretends to eat dirt pies
What ethnicity is she and how do we breed more black girls like her instead of ugly sheboons?
There's been no point in mocking Nintendo consoles for being underpowered since the Wii. It just werks. Playstation and Xbox actually try to compete directly with PC gaming. Nintendo believes their first party IPs and unique peripherals are worth choosing over or in addition to relatively recent hardware and it is.
It's not cheap enough for them to take it without a serious reason, 120hz on a portable that is aiming to be as cheap as possible is completely moronic.
I'm paying for my gaming experience, not computer hardware I intend to resell for scraps
I already have a gaming PC that plays every game I want it to at 1440p, the relative value a Playstation or Xbox would offer me is next-to-nothing and for it to be worth it in the first place, the hardware will be obsolete by when I'd want to sell it anyway
But I own a Switch and haven't explored its library fully so I'll wait for some good titles for S2
I knew some assblasted Snoy is going to make a thread. Surprised it took this long.
1. Taiwanese Economic Forum never leaked anything of value. They post their opinions and hide them behind "My super secret sauce told me. Trust me bro." In this case it's an amalgamation of internet rumors compiled by someone technologically inept.
2. You, on purpose, failed to mention their rumor includes 120Hz screen. From your own link: >the processor will be equipped with NVIDIA's T239 chip, equipped with 8GB RAM and 64GB storage space, the battery life will also be greatly improved, and the screen refresh rate will be increased to 120Hz
Yes, Nintendo skimped on RAM and splurged on 120Hz screen when they'll be lucky to hit 60FPS. Brilliant
You're getting baby's first VR headset with shitty mini games at 720p per eye and you're going to like it. The vast majority of the general public has not tried VR yet so having a shitty mode that's slightly worse than gen1 VR will still impress some. They need a stopgap before going full blown VR, which is inevitable at some point.
There's a reason Facebook and apple are obsessed with it, wether you like it or not the technology is so fundamentally appealing it will be a core technology of the future. You have also been ignoring Nintendo's entire history in the hardware space. Pioneered motion controls, glasses free 3d, portable consoles, sterioscopic 3d. VR is a natural extension of everything they have been pushing for their entire existence as a hardware manufacturer.
Psvr also has no software, Nintendo knows free access to VR will be a selling point.
I'm not sold on Nintendo continuing the trend of innovation just yet. I'd actually love it if Nintendo tried their hand at VR though, I'd like to see some more VR games getting made and if it takes off then we might see third parties making games for the Switch 2 and PSVR2 along with the Index and Occulus. My only concern is that it might run them into a Kinect style scenario with the Xbox One where no one likes the gimmick and it's a detriment. It happened with the 3DS too, they had to price cut it early on and then they made the 2DS because no one cared about the gimmick.
It's a $400 tablet that they expect to sell for a profit
They're going to be balls to the wall trying to trim shit out of it to keep it reasonably powerful while not going over the magic price point that will destroy it
I knew some assblasted Snoy is going to make a thread. Surprised it took this long.

>8 gigs of RAM >UGH!!! My manboob nipples got flaccid. If iPhone runs third party games better than Switch 2 then its a failure. Games can't run on 8 gigs of RAM anymore.
I wanted at least 10 gigs of RAM if only for better docked mode. Though it might be a decision for parity with the lite version of the console.
I'll be frank, Nintendo probably doesn't even need that much RAM.
That's more a concession for 3rd parties than anything else.
When +80% of the software you sell is 1st party and most of your games are fairly stylistic, then RAM constraints aren't really a big deal because it's not like you're selling yourself on how detailed your assets are like PS5 and Series X do.
The major things I want to see are: >DLSS + DLA >SSD compatibility and use to enhance asset streaming >Decent battery life
that's it.
That's literally all it needs to be to be a day 1 pick-up. Some next-gen upgrades for 1st party games would be appreciated but not even that mandatory
mario kart is still selling more than every single release on the system
no matter how many 3rd party games we get the ones that sell the tens of millions are first party nintendo titles
Theoretically speaking, could glasses free 3d like in the 3ds be used to output for each eye in a VR headset? Brining back 3d screens while also enabling VR would be so good.
>could glasses free 3d like in the 3ds be used to output for each eye in a VR headset
I have no idea what you're saying... You can't see 3D with one eye so what's the point of putting a glasses free 3D display on your head? Each eye can only see a 2D image, you would not see that 3D if you put it in front of each individual eyeball, as you would in VR
The only reason nintendo wins is when their console is half the price of the competition. Wii u was expensive and flopped. 3DS didn't gain any steam until they slashed the price
>8GB of ram and 64GB of Storage >ampere based soc with base ps4 level performance while docked >$450 >a low resolution camera >joycons that still drift
this is what the switch 2 will be and (you) will still buy it.
YOOO LETS FRICKIN GOOOO!
MK1 unironically looks good and runs good now
load times went from 45 seconds at launch to 15 now
so it's a portable ps4 just like expected
PS4 had a lot more than 64GB storage. They can't make a powerful Switch because it will kill the battery
Already have a 1TB MicroSD
PS4 is 10 years old.
When Tegra K1 was revealed in 2014, it was claimed to be more powerful than PS3 and 360, and Switch is more powerful than that.
Just don't make games that take that amount of space, jeez.
They cant? Or nvidia isnt in the market of producing power efficient lower sku chips?
It's got nothing to do with power. The storage is that low because they expect you to buy a microSD card. Additional onboard storage just drives up the cost, it's basically just there for edge cases like soneone without a card yet who's downloading DLC or their first digital game.

It hasn't been used in anything yet. We only know about it from the Nvidia hack last year when it was still being worked on and hasn't been taped out
>T239 chip has 1536 Ampere Cuda cores, 48 Tensor cores, 12 RT cores and 128bit memory bus

Games can’t be fun unless they are on a platform with 100000gb ram
to be fair, we both know that devs dont know how to optimize their games, so yeah, they need more ram
>bububut it's fun
How many fun gen 7 games do we need? They've been doing gen 7 games for two decades now. Move on to gen 8 for fricks sake
woah calm down, Nintendo wouldn't let this powerhouse out

No device needs a camera except a literal camera.

why would you even pay attention to this lol
It's probably VR capable, this would be the only explanation.

It's plenty of power we need to go back not chase ever growing budgets and graphics.
i would rather nintendo actually make some new games instead of rehashes, rereleases, and ports.
That's a developer problem, not a console problem.
a console is worthless without games. switch 2 needs a killer app that isn't just a rerelease or glorified dlc.

I don't know if you know this but SSD just means storage with no moving parts. It doesn't have to be the PS5 one in order to count.
It's believable because it's Nintendo console
>There is literally no reason it would have such limited storage.
unless they want to push cart's that is, Carts are in shop's and attract kids when shopping getting kid's into the nintendo ecosystem it also lets people who dont keep up with gaming magazines and sights see what's new out when shopping most normies dont check the digital store often if at all, It would be a smart move when the competition is trying to dump brick and morter.
They don't. Their whole strategy is to get people paying monthly subscription.
Vidya is already consolidated. There are only 3 players. In movie/show streaming there is too much competition.
Its the way of the future, all these companies know they can make a lot more money with it so they are going to push for it.
nintendo releases a fricking phone
except it has games made for it and it's battery last more than 1 hour.
post >yfw you bought a PS5 so you'll never have to worry about game drought
What the frick are you talking about.
I’ve been hearing about “Switch 2” for like the entire lifespan of the Switch it’s a HOAX
What the frick is Nintendo just regressing technologically at this point?
It can be be cheap, last a long time between charges, and behind upwards of two gens or it can be powerful, last 10 minutes, expensive, and still at least a gen behind thanks to physics. Those are your options.
>but muh dock
Just buy one of the others or - better yet - a proper PC and stop being beholden to a ™ if you don't want a handheld from the company whose niche has ALWAYS been handhelds, dipshit.
>Just buy one of the others or - better yet - a proper PC
do you really think zoomers can work a pc they are worse than boomers when it comes to machines.
>因此市場預料今年任天堂很可能在下半年推出新一代產品
They're literally just reporting that rumors are saying that that's what the switch 2 might be
there's no way it'd only have 8gb of ram, right...?
No, not happening. 12 is the bare minimum, but 16 is likely.
8GB is plenty, no computer or game console needs more than 8.
Whoa? The pro is only going to be a slight upgrade because they don't want to kill battery life on their portable system?! Whoever would've thunk it?
it's also apparently going to be 100 bucks more expensive
And? Are you just going to ignore the fact that it's a handheld because of the (mostly western) marketing nobody gives a shit about and pretend a handheld can do what knock off PCS can or should without going way up in cost?
Power gays only have themselves to blame for massive increases to cost.
Why would I care about what some chinese guy has to say?
Nintendo has been absolutely mogging the industry with less powerful hardware for 2 decades now and you homosexuals still b***h and whine about them doing it again.
There is no actual way they would make it this weak. Pretty sure 64 gigs isnt enough for like most AAA games that are to be released over the next 8 years.
Why do you keep equating storage with power? Are you moronic? The internal storage is the bare minimum to drive costs down and then they expect you to get a SD card. PSP, 3DS, Vita and Switch were all like this.
It's called critical thinking and deduction.
low storage = games are tiny = low res assets = shit 240p graphics again
Must not be that critical if you're dedicated to denying the existence of SD cards.
>low storage = games are tiny
or again just use the carts then you have plenty of space.
no one cares about sales, stop pretending to be a nintendo shareholder. why wouldnt people b***h about some shitty port tablet with broken unity student tier pokemon games?
Try that with Wii U
Nintendo is the king of handhelds. No one cares about their knock off PCs.
The SW for as succesful as it was, still marked a big retreat out of the core console market.
>being this delusional
and you pretend that a shitty pc with no games is a console.
>multiplats don't count as games
This is why people look at you like you have schizophrenia.
No, they don't.
If your machine does not have exclusives then it's not a console, it's a shitty pc.
>2 decades
You're memory holing the Wii U. I get why but it still exists.
I'm sure Arkham Knight will at least hit a constant 20FPS on this new beast of a machine.
can't wait for you being mad for the next 6 years, anon.
GC was the last "strong" console from N.
So?
You are mad about a tablet and you will be mad for the next 6 years.
t.
The market is big enough for everyone.
Didn't the original Xbox outsell the GC?
yeah but i think he means the power of the console itself.
Why are people Arthurposting over consoles
>only 8GB
Due to better optimizations 8 GiB of ram on switch is equivalent to 16 GiB of ram on PS5 or pc.
more cope
you will pay $400 for a playschool tablet with 8gb and shitty ports
Yeah and the GPU will have that Nintendo magic sauce, running games in 4K60 with ray tracing.
Honey, we're not talking about storage.
We're talking about RAM.
The 'hybrid console' concept was neat in theory, but I think I'd rather go back to separate consoles and handhelds tbh
No.
I like having all my nintendoslop in one place. Frick you.
No, frick YOU >:(
Better that they just stop pretending to care about the connect to a TV shitter entirely. No one wants them. Not theirs at least.
Storage isn’t a real concern considering how cheap SD cards can be but I admit I was hoping for 12 GB of RAM. It’s not the end of the world but I hope it’s not the case that it’s only 8
Good. Make it underpowered so i can still emulate it with my trash pc
8 GB of DDR5 RAM for software
4 GB of DDR4 RAM for OS/Switch Games
64GB Flash storage consumer unit for 399
256GB SSD storage Professional unit for 499
The Screen and console supports VRR and 120hz(For OS menus only)
Releases in June, Reveal in Mid April.
So 12GB of RAM then.
Technically yes, but no
Technically yes, but no
Technically yes, but no
I ain't believing shit until I see a chinese kid taking a picture in the manufacturing warehouse like LAST time.
And watch Journalists scream fake
>64GB Flash storage consumer unit for 399
>256GB SSD storage Professional unit for 499
Both are solid state, moron.
>64GB Flash storage consumer unit for 399
>256GB SSD storage Professional unit for 499
Thats beyond moronic, you're not even trying
> +$100 for a built in $15 256GB micro SD card
jesus frick, what the absolute frick are they thinking?
Money
They got away with 32 GB for the Switch at an estimate cost of 158 dollars of manufacturing and shipping, for easy peasy profits.
You think they wouldn't do it again?
They're not gonna spend 789 dollars to make a PS5 like Sony is willing to do (The "Slim" costs them 482 dollars now)
ARM hardware is cheaper than x86 hardware though.
Yeah and?
It doesn't matter if it's cheaper if they can make a profit.
The last and only time they sold for a loss was the Wii U hoping to make costs back from software (they did)
The Console itself only costed 129 dollars, but the controller for the Wii U was 450 dollar cost from the 5.2 GHz decoder it used to stream wirelessly.
Again, they wouldn't have Nvidia to make such a strong custom chip if they wanted to penny pinch
>8 GB of DDR5 RAM for software
>4 GB of DDR4 RAM for OS/Switch Games
what the frick does this mean?
8GB of ram for switch 2 games, while it only uses a different allocated set of 4GB ram for switch games???
does that also mean it'll be backwards compatible?
if so does that mean switch games will run like shit since only 4GB of ram will be used for them
please explain
He's just being a moron.
There will be no enhancements for Switch games, any improves to FPS is only a technical circumstance.
If the screen is 1080p or over and 120hz it's 100% going to slot into a makeshift VR headset.
can't read chink, it's a nothingburger if true
There's been no point in mocking Nintendo consoles for being underpowered since the Wii. It just werks. Playstation and Xbox actually try to compete directly with PC gaming. Nintendo believes their first party IPs and unique peripherals are worth choosing over or in addition to relatively recent hardware and it is.
>but muh sales!
no one cares
120hz display is significant if true because it confirms VR is part of their strategy.
It's so cheap to do this now I wouldn't get your hopes up
>but muh underpowered Nintendo!
no one cares
It's not cheap enough for them to take it without a serious reason, 120hz on a portable that is aiming to be as cheap as possible is completely moronic.
i know you dont care because youre a simp, but you should care that youre paying $400 for a mobile tablet that Amazon sells for $25
I'm paying for my gaming experience, not computer hardware I intend to resell for scraps
Ummm already deboonked by FamiGODS, sweetie 🙂
I knew some assblasted Snoy is going to make a thread. Surprised it took this long.
1. Taiwanese Economic Forum never leaked anything of value. They post their opinions and hide them behind "My super secret sauce told me. Trust me bro." In this case it's an amalgamation of internet rumors compiled by someone technologically inept.
2. You, on purpose, failed to mention their rumor includes 120Hz screen. From your own link:
>the processor will be equipped with NVIDIA's T239 chip, equipped with 8GB RAM and 64GB storage space, the battery life will also be greatly improved, and the screen refresh rate will be increased to 120Hz
Yes, Nintendo skimped on RAM and splurged on 120Hz screen when they'll be lucky to hit 60FPS. Brilliant
The 120hz shit is what makes me think it's true, Nintendo wants VR and that is the only way they can get it.
With 4GB of RAM?
You're getting baby's first VR headset with shitty mini games at 720p per eye and you're going to like it. The vast majority of the general public has not tried VR yet so having a shitty mode that's slightly worse than gen1 VR will still impress some. They need a stopgap before going full blown VR, which is inevitable at some point.
because the psvr and psvr2 have done so well that it's worth exploring that market...?
Shhhhh Anon, let them have their fun
It's a $400 tablet that they expect to sell for a profit
They're going to be balls to the wall trying to trim shit out of it to keep it reasonably powerful while not going over the magic price point that will destroy it
If that was the case they wouldn't have commissioned Nvidia for a custom, cutting edge mobile chip
what does this even mean can you explain in english please?
is it as or more powerful than a PS4?
Read
i still don't understand what any of this means other than it having a moronic screen when 90% of the games will struggle to reach 60fps much less 120
so is it rumored to be as or more powerful than a ps4? like i need a point of reference, numbers mean nothing.
how much ram does the switch have ?
4GB
and you can thank capcom for that, otherwise it'd be 2GB
4gb
>8 gigs of RAM
>UGH!!!
The major things I want to see are:
>DLSS + DLA
>SSD compatibility and use to enhance asset streaming
>Decent battery life
that's it.
That's literally all it needs to be to be a day 1 pick-up. Some next-gen upgrades for 1st party games would be appreciated but not even that mandatory
>Nintendo probably doesn't even need that much RAM.
but ever since the Switch, Nintendo's output is the minority of the system's lineup
mario kart is still selling more than every single release on the system
no matter how many 3rd party games we get the ones that sell the tens of millions are first party nintendo titles
>"It doesn't matter because profits!"
That doesn't have anything to do with how games may or may not run.
>SSD compatibility
Has been ever since the Wii.
Seems kinda redundant.
Theoretically speaking, could glasses free 3d like in the 3ds be used to output for each eye in a VR headset? Brining back 3d screens while also enabling VR would be so good.
They would just do they same thing that labo shit did and render both on the same screen.
The touch screen would interfere too much with 3D. That’s the exact reason why both screens weren’t 3D on the 3DS, according to Nintendo.
That was a membrane touch screen. Now we have capacitive screens.
>could glasses free 3d like in the 3ds be used to output for each eye in a VR headset
I have no idea what you're saying... You can't see 3D with one eye so what's the point of putting a glasses free 3D display on your head? Each eye can only see a 2D image, you would not see that 3D if you put it in front of each individual eyeball, as you would in VR
Storage is dirt cheap today. What possible excuse could there be to cheap out on it besides pure israelitery?
The excuse is tha OP is full of BS
It's Nintendo we're talking about. They take great joy in mocking their cultist fanbase and treating them like cattle.
Man, you're moronic.
The only reason nintendo wins is when their console is half the price of the competition. Wii u was expensive and flopped. 3DS didn't gain any steam until they slashed the price
Switch was mogging PS4 since 2017 despite being more expensive
Can't translate the page. I bet it's 2019 tech sold for $400
>64 GB
Really? They couldn't even spring for 128? I had to get bargain bin phone recently and even that had more memory on it
Nope. It's all made up with zero credence
>8GB of ram and 64GB of Storage
>ampere based soc with base ps4 level performance while docked
>$450
>a low resolution camera
>joycons that still drift
this is what the switch 2 will be and (you) will still buy it.
>this is what the switch 2 will be and (you) will still buy it
yes, and?
Kid Icarus Uprising remake
This is unironically our time
