Vesperia os one of the best games in the series, it doesn't excel at any one thing but it does everything well.
Good combat, good music, still the prettiest game in the series, good characters. Sure it doesn't have the best story, but only morons play Tales for the story.

Doubt. The characters felt more like vehicles moving the narrative forward than being an actual character. The music wasn't really that remarkable either other than a few tracks like Fury Sparks and one other battle song I can't remember the title of.

Combat doesn't get good until like 80 hours in, Hell it feels like absolute shit for the first 10 or so hours. if you have to beat a game then loop around to new game+ to enjoy it then it's not a good game.

I heard you gays praising Vesperia for over a decade before i finally bought it and played it, and after 50 hours of playing i realized i'd fallen for a meme all along. The game is overrated as frick.

card on people, then Tempest was so fricking bad they stripped it's mainline title status and basically never talked about it again.
Legendia wasn't very well received mostly for the graphics for being different to its contemporaries, it's an odd game that looks caught in between the PS1 and 2 eras, and not at all what people expected would follow up Symphonia.
Personally, while I don't love Legendia, I think it's obvious which are the worst 3 Tales games.
3rd worst is Graces, because it introduced everything wrong with modern Tales (combo tree, flash over substance, dogshit characters, destroyed the CC system which was invented for air combat). People jerk off over the gameplay, but it's restrictive because of the combo tree and because of how defense-oriented it is. You spend a lot of your time holding square in that game.
Second worst is Berseria as it is a sequel to Zestiria, and it made the combo tree formula by reducing it to just button mashing and getting rid of directional inputs. Only good thing about the game are Magilou and Eleanor.
Worst overall is Zestiria. Bad everything, there's a reason Baba got canned over it.

Outside of taking out the 3 basic attack strings, how is this really that different from something like Symphonia? Just like artes go from 1CC->2CC->etc, techs/artes go from basic->master->arcane. Zestiria at least made the improvement where you could mix in quicksteps and B-artes to quickly skip through tiers.
