It stinks

Now I will play your game.

Hey, what if the DPS guys strapped on some heavy armour and carried bandages and healing potions? Why not ignore the moronic World of Warcraft game mnechanics?
These are simply consumable items that everyone can carry. Just make sure that players can't use them while in striking distance from enemies and the problem is solved.
Can be trained to be a better healer. A combat medic.
For 5e that'd probably be the sword & board guy taking the healer feat since the other two guys need their own damage feats, which S&B doesn't have.
Or can get a rogue with the Thief subclass who can heal twice a turn with Fast Hands. Or heal and attack.
>Combat medic
Pic related. Had a shotgun revolver loaded with beanbag rounds that would knock the opponent back, opening up enough room to patch himself or a friend up.
Aren't potion crafting/bandages each part of a profession in WoW?
>noo, stop putting so much game in my games!
What about debuffing? That's the most fun role in combat, whether martial or caster.
For ~~*some reason*~~ MMOs don't have debuffers.
What? Lots of MMOs have debuffers.
I don't see a problem with damage having a debuff effect. Of course, if the game is designed from the very beginning for dps to have utility, it's a bad idea to just throw it into a dnd campaign.
then don't do that
I can't think of any ttrpg that has rules trying to enforce a tank/healer/dps mechanic and even if I did, you can still just go ahead and not do that
did you miss Ganker?
>what is mage-cleric-barbarian in dnd?
Ok nogames.
then don't do that
the game can't make you do that
>what is balance based on a clear meta?
Keep exposing yourself as nogames moron, it's entertaining.
then don't be meta
most games don't require you to play against "your level" and even if they do, you can just not do that
are you referring to a specific game?
>just have a nice day in the foot by making the game even more crap than it already is
You are a really funny clown.
Are you moronic or something? Math is literally something for math nerds, if you don't care about numbers are shit yiu can just have fun.
Sure if you do like meta you can do it, but if you don't it's not the end of the world.
Did you forget to take your pills or something? What the frick are you saying, psycho?
which game?
Dnd of course. Hipsters can pretend that tank-healer-dps is not the core on which the balance of this system is built on, but that won't change the fact.
are you exclusively playing prebuilt modules or something?
if you're getting into enough protracted combat engagements where you NEED a healer, then stop doing that
play smarter and pick your fights, and if you can't then tell your gm that you want to try doing something different
if you're gm then it's just a matter of telling your players you don't want that setup and, again, not pitting them against shit that would require something like healing mid-combat
lots of systems out there don't even have something like CR for you to gauge the difficulty of potential fights
if that all sounds too hard then try another system, there's a whole thread about posting them
blah blah blah, a load of bullcrap. Unlike you, I have experience with games and know that monsters balanced based on the core mechanics. And if you remove one of these mechanics, the balance is completely broken and you have to change so much in the game that it is easier to write a new system than to hammer the existing one into new frameworks. STFU, moron nogames.
so what do you want?
bump
Wrong board
>no teamplay
>no interparty reliance
You think youre smart but youre a dumbass
>to be such a selfish moron that interaction with party members should be reinforced at gunpoint
Have you thought about psychological help and behavior correction? It is not okay when you are not able to interact with other people without coercion even in the game.
Not that Anon, but I don't see how your logic follows.
>Only War
>our machine gunner lays down suppressive fire
>our sniper hunts down enemy officers, gunmen and other snipers
>while our officer tries to call for help
>while our grenadier tries to get close enough to throw grenades
Only dnd drones can think that team play is just throwing spells at each other.
Your strategy sounds terrible, but I applaud your attitude.
>just roleplay your class synergy bro
It's funny considering that this is exactly what dndrons do.
Instead of having pigeonholed roles, my game allows a choice of what abilities, and styles of those abilities you want. So in addition to being able to choose to master the shield, you can choose your investment in its protective skills and its offensive skills.
Have a high reflex stat? Use defensive shield-based reactions to interpose yourself between the attacker and an ally.
High vitality? Dig in your heels and take a stance that allows an ally to use you as cover.
Want to be a gladitorial hero? Charge across the battlefield, bashing with your shield and throwing it like a discus.
Mix and match as desired!
Want to be a healer? Take the mystic's gemstone. Not only does it have healing powers, but it can shoot rays of light that are more effective against undead. Or, you can flick it like a dagger, causing a debilitating effect where it becomes lodged.
Like dealing lots of damage? Fire magic causes a burn effect that makes enemies more vulnerable to damage and take damage per turn.
Instead of having "the weapons guy" or "deeps" or "the magic guy", you can deal damage how you want while having the utilities you want.
Why do people consistently act like they're the first person to ever create classless systems?
I'm not acting like I'm the first one, I'm just making sure all the morons who told me to rewrite what I don't like know what I do, and I encourage others to make what they want too.
Besides, my ability system is totally a class system, it just has more freedom.
>Classless system
I'm just gonna take whichever abilities synergize the hardest, then.
>>>/vg/ ?
>MMO shit
True homosexualry
>Playing a character instead of a class/role
Now I will allow you to play
>Playing a character instead of a class/role
This is a lie for 90% of all players. Although 90% of any population is shit, no exceptions..
