Using Gen 3 is a really bad example, as there's plenty of available Pokemon in RSE that are roughly on curve with the game's power level. Gen 5 is pretty similar. It's not like Gen 4 where only a few good Pokemon are available without jumping through hoops, or Gen 2 where some Pokemon are rarer for lore or "we only just finished the game" reasons, or even Gen 1's big "we cut like 40 Pokemon" related problems. Gen 6-8 go pretty overboard, but they're functionally on par with SV in the amount of time you can get them. Gen 6/7 do have a slight problem with padding out the encounter tables with comparative shitmons, but given how easy XY specifically is it's hardly a problem there and in SM that arguably enhances the experience.
No that's BW which gives you Patrats and Purrloins until you're halfway through the game and locks evos of the cooler mons to postgame since they evolve late as frick
BW drowns you in busted shit, like, people can cry about how much of a pain in the ass it is to get Braviary and Hydregion but fricking Lillipup is right there from the word go ready to spam strong normal STAB moves and Bite/Crunch for the entire game.
Oh and the dog gets fricking Intimidate and the elemental fangs for coverage so it will last you the whole game, I ditched my starter for it last time I played through the game and it was completely worth it.

the people who complain the most about BW haven't played it
I don't like most of the new mons, I don't like seasons, and I don't like the map in general but the soundtrack is still stuck in my head and I love it
If every Pokemon in the game is a shitmon, that means that the game is balanced. Unless you're implying that gym leaders get non-shitmons.

The only exceptionally bad part of BW's encounter tables is before the first gym, which is so bad it doesn't let you use the shitty regional bird. Thankfully Route 3 onwards is some of the best encounter tables in the classic smaller Pokedex style (compare to Gen 6 onward where they just put dozens of Pokemon on a single route), with new Pokemon available consistently over the course of the entire game.
BW is the worst about it. So many cool mons you don’t get until late in the game and evolution levels are rediculous. Why the frick does Rufflet evolve at lv 54
In RBY and it's remakes you can pick up a Nidoran before the first gym, evolve it to Nidoking before the second gym, and run literally anything in your other 5 slots because he's unstoppable.
Being able to get the pseudo of the generation right after the tutorial was fricking great. Well, the pseudo of the generation and every other pseudo in the game. Being free to catch almost every pokemon (starters, legendaries and Gholdengo aside) right away was just amazing in general, and Kitakami only makes it better for future replays.
Galar wild area had the right idea, but was too half-assed.
i WILL have fun with the shit bird and insect for 99% of the game, thank you
coming up with strats or gimmicks to make shitmons usable is some of the more fun aspects of the game
>coming up with strats or gimmicks to make shitmons usable is some of the more fun aspects of the game
Cue in mental gymnastics on why "um actually you're wasting your time" and a collage-grade essay on why suddenly appears.
Any argument that says you're being suboptimal making shitmons work in early gens basically destroys SV as well because optimal play in SV won't have you run to one side of the map to grab the psuedo the second you can either.
they obey you if you catch and train them at a level you can handle
so, you can for instance go to casseroya lake, get a lvl 45 dratini, breed it, and you'll be able to use it without it not obeying you because you will have it at lvl.1
>go to casseroya lake, get a lvl 45 dratini, breed it
Catch chances for things that far beyond your badge level are like, legendary tier even for deadbeat shitmons. I don't believe you'd realistically have the money for all the balls you'd need to throw, not to mention the store inventory is locked to your badge level so you wouldn't even have a quick ball before gym 1.
>want to use goodra in a playthrough
LOL SORRY YOU HAVE TO HAVE BEATEN ALL THE GYMS FIRST EL EM AY OH
is a moron but yeah, you can't realistically catch things too far beyond your level without wasting a lot of time and resources.
Also if you're just going to breed it anyway, you should trade for one instead.

Gen 3 is a bad example since it had quite a large variety of species available within the first hour of the game. Also, Gens 6-8 are all nearly on par with SV when it comes to Pokémon variety and availability. It’s only really 1, 2, 4, 5 that have this issue.
Not 2.
In contrary to popular belief, gen 2 has quite high amount of variety in early game. It's just that the encounters are spread across all times of day so it may be quite a bit waiting (or manipulating clock lmao) to get certain mons.
Still, I think Crystal and HGSS are the only games pre-gen VI where you can get Fire-Water-Grass core going on before first gym no matter of which starter you choose.
HMs are fine as long as theres just like 5 of em. It helps add some delth to your team and its cool to have each member cintribute to your progress in the overworld a little. Its when you start getting shit like rock climbe, waterfall, whirlpool, defog and dive that ut becimes moronic. A pokemon using surf should just be able to do all that water shit in general, just make it unlock it with subsequent badges
This. If HM moves like Rock Smash didn't suck shit in combat I wouldn't even have as much of a problem dedicating a specific slot to each party member. If not that then I'd fix HMs by having it required to carry a pokemon that *can* learn the move but doesn't need it in their moveset to use it in the overworld.
The old game are good however, yes, SV are good games too. SV also does a lot of things better than previous games I think they have a good base to build upon future games. Gamefreak simply needs to release it without any game breaking glitches and a better art direction (more in line with gen 5-6) next time.
scarlet violet are the best games in the entire series
only homosexuals who grew up playing really shit games where half your team is hm slaves and the difficulty is artificial due to requiring leveling up every single mon in your team separately for hours think otherwise
Seething in 3..2...1....
Beautiful prediction, even more beautiful seething ITT.

Holy mother of reddit no one is reading that
RSE is consistently the worst teambuilding experience, nothing but shitmons everywhere.
No that's BW which gives you Patrats and Purrloins until you're halfway through the game and locks evos of the cooler mons to postgame since they evolve late as frick
you have never played BW

Ruffles evolves at 54 because the DOI was signed that day
Fun fact
Man, don't remind me... worth it though.
Dreepy in SwSh, on the other hand...

My man on the top with raticate crawdawnt and not a single frick to spare about type overlaps, that's a beautiful team not going to lie
There's no point if they don't obey you.

Then just savescum
I went and caught a lvl 45 or so dratini when my team was lvl 25
Maybe I was lucky but I did manage to catch one in 10-15 balls
>not using surprise encounters
>not using right balls
>not pulling off status conditions even with underleveled mons
Skill issue.
sv pokemon are so ugly
I don't see a single cool pokemon
crawdaunt and shiftry are a thousand times cooler, swellow is nice
OP picked truly horrible examples
Cool robot

That's because you have shit taste
moron

You can literally catch a Goomy before beating the first gym.

They're barely games, you're better off playing a minecraft mod for the same experience but better.
