Man I fricking love the Mishima dynasty. In Tekken 1 I was all about Kazuya, didn't even touch the other characters, just got seriously good with him. In Tekken 2 I started messing around with Heihachi a bit too and loved his aggressive style, and Devil was also a favourite but using him felt unfair so I never did. Tekken 3 I was iffy about Jin at first but after I got the hang of him I really liked his hybridization of his parents fighting styles, it was a nice way to add some variation so it wasn't just Kazuya reskins forever. Ever since then Jin has been my favourite character in the Tekken games, he's just so fun to use and his combos are really good. Then again I haven't played Tekken since 5.

It’s not dumbed down and never was. They removed simple strategies like low parry that worked universally and now you have to know specific frames of both your punishes and opponent’s moves. If you block a low you gotta know if it’s -11 or -12 or etc, or else you’ll be missing a lot of damage. Like it was in tekken prior.
They made backdash worse but sidestepping better, sidestepping always being the more difficult and precise movement option
They removed easy mode ch tools like magic 4s, and removed random wake up options that used to launch
They added the entire heat system on top of that

Man I fricking love the Mishima dynasty. In Tekken 1 I was all about Kazuya, didn't even touch the other characters, just got seriously good with him. In Tekken 2 I started messing around with Heihachi a bit too and loved his aggressive style, and Devil was also a favourite but using him felt unfair so I never did. Tekken 3 I was iffy about Jin at first but after I got the hang of him I really liked his hybridization of his parents fighting styles, it was a nice way to add some variation so it wasn't just Kazuya reskins forever. Ever since then Jin has been my favourite character in the Tekken games, he's just so fun to use and his combos are really good. Then again I haven't played Tekken since 5.

It’s not dumbed down and never was. They removed simple strategies like low parry that worked universally and now you have to know specific frames of both your punishes and opponent’s moves. If you block a low you gotta know if it’s -11 or -12 or etc, or else you’ll be missing a lot of damage. Like it was in tekken prior.
They made backdash worse but sidestepping better, sidestepping always being the more difficult and precise movement option
They removed easy mode ch tools like magic 4s, and removed random wake up options that used to launch
