I only played street fighter 2 and tekken 3 when I was young, oh and that crazy N64 game. I gotta say SF2 was a great game, but I remember having way more fun playing tekken 3
Arguably true but you used to be able to play defensively, wait for you opponent to frick up, then punish them. Now the game rewards you for spamming attacks
can you compile your replays where you get spammed wr?

I don't have any, I usually blow Azucena out the water. But you're a fool if you think her WR34 is balanced. There are videos by pros demonstrating its problems.
You only play Azucena so I expected this response from you.

A broken clock is right 2 times a day.
Unironically this. Knee and Arshlan Ash are notorious at playing defensive-keep away. Arshlan Ash won T7 by using Kazumi Mishima which safe moves and has good range. These two are just complaining because their gimmick won't work anymore
>Tekken 8 is more like a party game than something serious.
I'm sure that'll piss off the 1% of competitive Tekken players, but that sounds pretty good for the other 99% of casuals that buy Tekken games.
I don't know, it's hard to find people who do not have fun with the game. >HURRR THIS CHARACTER IS OP >HURRR THIS MOVE IS OP >HURRR *plugs*
Yeah this is all fighting games but Tekken 8 elevated this phenomenon to an absurd degree and it's because of its scrubby nature allowing players to randomly take games from each other regardless of the skill level
>New mechanics
This is one of the things that is always amusing to watch about new fighting games. New pros pop up and sometimes old pros get washed because they never adapt
That's fine and all but all the new mechanics even interesting? Is there depth to them? If not then I can understand why they wouldn't care. We all know how modern devs like to tack on shit to make it fresh but never truly thinking it through.
Esports players know nothing about how to make or balance a game. They often have the worst takes because they only argue in favor of themselves. If they lose to a character over and over then that character is "busted" even if that isn't even true.
This. I feel this way when people cry about Lili, she has the absolute WORST frame data in the game. Yet people are throwing her in A/S tier with someone like Victor and Azucena.
Then when those same people actually PLAY Lili they get washed up fricking instantly. PhiDX tried and fricking struggled with her. It was hard to watch.
frame data doesn't tell the entire story and never has, you need to take into account tons of other factors like speed/range/damage/pushback/followups/the move having a really subtle bullshit animation and the general mechanics of the game in order to know if a move is actually good or not, just going "bro she's -2 just react immediately and press you'll win" is a big midwit trap
This would be a good take in Street Fighter ir literally ANY other game. Tekken gives EVERYONE the SAME tools. Majority of Lili's kit is shut down by a simple jab. She same 11f jab that every character has the exact same framedata for. 99% of her strings leave her open to a jab. On top if that she has the WORST low launch with her db4. It is EXTREMELY slow and her animation literally tells you "BLOCK LOW NOW", it is slower and more readable than ANY other low launcher. Her Matador is also slow and launch punishable.
Again, people have this foolish idea of character balancing until they actually play the character. Watch PhiDX play her vs when he cries about her on his tier list.
>WHO????
Am example of players that are better than you but still don't know shit about balancing. No worries m8, no one expects a bronze rank like you to know more than a 10-hit combo.
again, we are talking about Tekken here, not your favorite youtuber or twitch streamer or whatever crap you're into.
At least name someone who won in SBO or EVO so we don't have to google who this loser is.
Also, we don't have bronze ranks in this game you fricking tourist.

Again, you are a fricking scrub. You don't get to talk. Period.
Honestly? I'd rather have a game that rewards defense than a game that punishes defense and encourages mashing or spam.
In T7 you know WHY you lost. You know that you pressed a button when you should have blocked. You know that next set if you see the same setup you can either block or sidestep and punish. In Tekken 8 you block, you lose. You sidestep a dash 3 4? You lose because either it tracks you up to 180° or she flies to the other side of the map. You now have to enter a cheatcode to counter a move that people literally press 2 buttons to input.
I want vf6 and sc7 without special attacks bullshit, that shit feels wrong in 3d games
The last few SC games had specials and flopped partly because of them. Other factors were rushed development (5), hentai art and covid (6).
As long as Bamco focuses on T8, there will be no SC7
As for VF6, it will have ads and worse microtransactions that will make everyone run back to Tekken 8 and Street Fighter 6
Hentai art is like 70% of the reason it even managed to sell 2 million, which makes it the second highest selling game in the series btw. The big problem to me at least is that fighting with weapons instead of fists just isn't fun. But yeah, I definitely wish they would get rid of the fricking supers already.
Nope, it's basically the only reason to buy the game. It's the second best selling game in the series, and the best selling is SCIV, the most sexualized entry in the entire series. It also had the shittiest gameplay in the series which kind of proves the point that the coom was carrying it hard. >doa6
It's the opposite, the entire lead up to release was the devs talking about how they want it to be a more serious fighter, characters like Kasumi wearing more clothes in default outfit with shrunken breasts, etc. They eventually reversed course, but by then it was way too late. It's the only DOA besides the first I never bought because of that.
>second highest selling game in the series btw.
So this is where the goalpost went after "best selling game in the franchise" failed to convince anyone. It sold 2mil units. Calling that a success would be like calling VF5US a success
I am 100% SC6 flopped because of RE

It’s not even cinematic, it’s just annoying

Melty Blood, then. But I agree as a movement enjoyer that generally this aspect of FGs has been getting neglected a lot. And very deliberately, because most modern FGs try to avoid giving players too many options so that situations are simple and solvable for any moron.
Truth is Tekken 7 had defense being too strong, that way frauds like Arslan could win. But offense in Tekken has always been dumb unga bunga plus frames, so now that emphasize it the flaws of the game series are kind of exposed.

This depends on the player. Majority of players are literal mouth breathers so you are right mostly. Some people like the original Halo and Doom devs made good games BECAUSE they actually played them.
haha weird how during the times that street fighter 2 boomers in america said that fighting games were dead actually dozens and dozens of anime games were coming out and then all those people grew up and got jobs
You've never played them. GG is pretty much the antithesis of this sort of modern unga bullshit. They're the sort of games where a relatively small difference in skill levels between players means that the weaker player probably isn't ever getting a single round.
its not just fighting games, its sports as well. Its because analytics say offense generate more engagement and clicks on the internet more than defense from a marketing perspective. So now everyone is punishing defensive play to generate more views and highlights.
>say this day 1, people shit on me for "not giving the game time to develop"
I knew this game was going to fricking suck when I say heat and the "tekken is 3" netcode bullshit, but I swear to fricking god nu-fighting game players will eat any shit served to them on a $70 plate. I think it's time to accept that fighting games are dead to me.
albeit it's funny - people act like t7 at the end wasnt a complete snore fest because ash just played "perfect" tekken nonstop for years
so they implemented more get out of jail cards just to level things out and buck broken the pro players. albeit itll be all for naught if arseland wins evo again
Soul Calibur 6 already felt like playing 20 different type of Victors, always in heat mode and mashing safe moves until they chip off the opponent's life bar.
At least that game had decent sidesteps to avoid morons from mashing safe on guard mids, this game doesn't even let you do that is fricking insane.
>Harada is the best because he is le backtalk man that tells people to frick off and they should never ask him for anything >oh no it turns out Harada fricking sucks when the game he makes is shit and he is le backtalk man and tells people to frick off when they want him to fix his awful decisions get those cheeks spread for lootboxes in the next update

samsho being two guys standing at fullscreen for 30 seconds and then someone dies to a single heavy slash is a fantasy
Tekken 8 is designed like every nu fighting game now. Basically system mechanics are insanely powerful and character kit individually suck balls as a result. Because of that games are very one dimensional because kits are toned down and individual characters can now abuse very powerful system mechanics. Ones that kits synergize well with those systems ofcourse become top tiers. This on top of movement being insanely dumbed down makes games play very samey. Why give players a lot of different options when they can design one dimensional strong system mechanics. This is just another design layer when it comes to dumbing down shit and its funny how FGC homosexuals finally realized that. Make character options streamlined while system mechanics become very strong in one dimensional way so casuals will grasp those faster.
>soul burst, soul smash, power souls, soul engagers, sows
Tekken 8 is soul. Cope.

you can literally airdash in strive. it's actually more mindless now because you can airblock out of it and instant airdashing is way easier

SFV is to blame for Guilty Gear and Tekken becoming braindead monkey games.
Guilty Gear was always a braindead monkey game. If anything Strive is less monkey than it was before.

Reminder that Soul Calibur got fricked over in favor of Kekken.
Tekken 7 sold 12 million copies
Sc6 sold 2 million copies

Tekken 4 part 2
It feels more like Soul Calibur 6.1
I just mean they nuked movement again and had a moronic focus on generic "aggression" at every level
I wonder if there was ever a chance they'd bring back pre round movement
SNK games are better.
tekken got way too popular for its own good in T7. It was never meant to be a top 3 game
To be fair he also hated 7
7 was kind of shit too, yes
I enjoyed T7 a lot, the only Tekken games I think are competitive worthy is 3 and 5DR
Who the frick does nerfing movement appeal to?
People who just want to mash
