Star wars galaxies with modern flying mechanics. Lightsaber combat out of jedi academy, but very few would get to see it as becoming a jedi or sith takes effort.

Battlefront with total customization. Pick a planet, pick your factions, vehicles, heroes, etc. Maybe even a random map generator on top of all the prebuilt maps, so you can get more Tatooine or whatever stupid fricking planet you want to fight on.

My ideal game would be Battlefront 2 2017 with some big changes
        >no sequel stuff, pt and ot only, maybe some legends/old republic characters/planets if they want a 3rd setting
        >make selecting heroes less cumbersome
        >better balance
        >better mod support
Basically I'd like them to keep going with 2017 and support it better.

Why has the younglings scene never been adapted in any of the games? Not even the LEGO games have it.

And before you say killing kids isn’t allowed in vidya, the LEGO games have cartoony violence, so they could get away with it.

what's there to adapt? It wouldn't be fun or enjoyable because it's not like it would be a challenge. Only reason I can think you'd want a level to murder children is because you're a psycho.

    >You can use armor, blasters, and bounty hunter gadgets
    >You get your own ship like in Swtor, and can customize it within reason

I suspect the cost of doing all the different game elements properly would be too high to justify given the relatively small player base of nerds like us who would love stuff like that. Most normie gamers just play action games or sports or whatever. And those are expensive enough to do well.

I think an Empire at War (spiritual) sequel should have combat similar to Empire at War, just with some more depth and variety. Star Wars space battles should have a heavy cinematic element to them.
The key change for space battles should just be more granularity and depth. Make Star Destroyers feel like high-level capital ships compared to patrol frigates and corvettes. In vanilla Empire at War, most ships feel way too fragile and frigates could get crippled by losing a single hard point.

Merging RTS with Grand Strategy is a 100 million dollar idea. Even DOWDark Crusade or Total War had limited implementation and were smash hits.

someone needs to fricking do it already

      >DOWDark Crusade
Empire at War has a better campaign than Dark Crusade in many ways. Its biggest flaw is that you can't do any micromanagement while paused.
Dark Crusade shines by having much, much better battles and base building compared to Empire at War's ground battles.

Small scale multiplayer pvp game (4v4, 6v6, 8v8, etc. No more than 12v12) where you pick one of a handful of classes/heroes/archetypes that represent either peak non-force user or average force user. Each match takes place in an era with a themed associated objective that are either original or ripped from a major set piece from a movie. Bots act as your grunt armies on either side ala Titanfall. There's a lightsaber v lightsaber combat system that approximates fighting game concepts in a 3D space like For Honor but more mobile and force powers mixed in. Combat has enough depth that a 1v1 mode is interesting. Blaster and lightsaber heroes are perfectly balanced somehow, despite controlling completely differently, while taking into account blaster heroes will be able to kill grunts from a distance and are better for taking out vehicles and are uniquely capable of completing secondary map objectives that give your team an advantage ie slicing terminals, setting explosives to open up new avenues, etc. TTK is high enough to allow for interesting interactions and counterplay. Explosives are useful for area denial but are suboptimal for direct damage so spam is kept under control.
Maybe a small campaign, but I prefer a "box of toys" approach.

Forgot to mention, visual and class customization is robust allowing for tons of unique looks and viable builds within an archetype. Certain force powers, light saber colors, outfits, weapons, and tools are only available for light/dark aligned classes but neither faction is overpowered and build dominance within classes is kept to a minimum.

Goddamn what a nice package that would be, you could keep yourself packed and entertained for a while. Republic Commando is a comparatively short and sweet experience you could replay every once in a while to switch things up while getting gud at Empire at War and committing to entire playthroughs of Kotor. This would've been sick to play in the summer as a kid alongside some MMO like Runescape, Maplestory, or FFXI

you play as anakin after order 66 is issued and kill all the kids at jedi academy, they hide in 85 spots so it turns into 40 hour puzzle game, in the end you find 15 at once at the Bridge for Slaughter which kicks off boss fight against nightmare difficulty jedi who has the high ground. You cant win the final fight.
After storymode ends, you do Trials of Vader random generated quests on sandbox city setting where you level up your Vader and network with the Sith.

Later on, Neon Genesis Evangelion and One Piece cross over DLC to keep people at their toes.

I would kill for the prequel era to come back. Not because of the movies but the absolute monsoon of quality EU content, like holy frick. Why isn’t there ever a game where you get to play as the empire the entire game? Sure they’ll advertise the shit as “THIS TIME YOU PLAY AS THE BADDIES!” but then they pull some bullshit where the protagonist switches sides to the rebels fairly quickly.

But there is. The old Battlefront 2 has the "Rise of the Empire" main campaign where you play first as the Republic and then as the Empire.
The same game also as a "galaxy conquest" campaign where you can play any of the 4 factions, two from prequel and two from OG trilogies, so you can play the Empire campaign there as well and demolish the Rebels.

Star Wars Jedi Knight III: Jedi Knighter
The Jedi knight games already have the best lightsaber and force power gameplay out of all SW games, for my perfect SW game you'd only need to make a new one, make it a continuation of the prior games following old canon, write a nice little story for it and most importantly give me a lot of levels and enemies to play through

I try not to think about star wars nowadays. Even if a 10/10 game came out I probably wouldn't play it. It's a painful memory, not a source of wonder or joy.

  30. 8 months ago
    Anonymous

There's multiple, specifically because there are too many niches in Star Wars that can fit entire games but no game can have all of them without making huge compromises.

For instance, Star Wars Squadrons comes close to being a perfect starfighter sim but it didn't have the budget to truly get over the line. Bigger maps, more players, prequel trilogy ships, and in-atmosphere dogfights are all necessary to make it feel complete.

Additionally, Star Wars is ripe for a CoD-like special forces game (in the vein of Republic Commando if not an outright sequel) which has a heavy reliance on spectacle and rule of cool without getting bogged down by trying to clunkily adapt modern geopolitics into a digestible mass-marketed video game.

Would also agree with others in the thread that another stab at an Empire at War style game is definitely warranted, with more Total War like emphasis on grand strategy and real-time battles. Personally think they should drop land battles though, they can be fun but for SW the most interesting spectacle is pretty much always the space battles. Especially with the Clone Wars stuff where you have ships exchanging broadside like it's the fricking battle of Trafalgar.

  31. 8 months ago
    Anonymous

A proper Republic Commando sequel with all the squad mechanics of the first one but improved with more enemies and levels, also add generic replayble missions after you finish the story to give the game replay value, add workshop support for the PC release so people can make their own levels, add enemies and so on.
