The PS2 isn't retro because games of that era still fundamentally play the same way that modern games do. Compare a NES game to a PS2 game and there's a massive difference in every way. Compare a PS2 game to a PS4 game and the only differences are graphics, physics, etc, designed the same way most PS2 games were, just with better tech. PS2 won't be retro until gaming moves on to something different, like if VR games take off for real.
