Stalker mods, first coc, then misery, now anomaly
I played Stalker a lot years ago but never got into freeplay mods. I also saw a shitload of add-ons for anomaly and I dropped it.
i play as lightweight as possible
have two selfmade mods i cant play without plus 4-5 other mods.
If you dont know what you want to mod, just play unmodded until you get a vague idea what is missing, chances are there is a mod for that

I bought the game for this, and stayed for the gameplay. They shouldve focused on the arena game modes and just made a narrative that tied them all together, theyve spread their resources too thin. and the updates for the mod are slow
The game only has one programmer and five artists while the mod is hampered by the spaghetti code of the game.
Had no idea, very impressive for such a small scale development honestly.
Natural Selection, it was a pretty cool half life mod
I wish there was actual effort put into it, especially the balance because its a fantastic idea for a game that no one has expanded upon.

Oblivion had tons of great quest mods, but that was back when people didn't demand voice acting and studio level quality form modders. Still, Skyrim has decent amount of such mods too.
Chronicles of Archolos is very decent, even if in the final act the writing is just not there.
Lecarde Chronicles 2 is a fan game, but one of the best Metroidvanias out there
Playing around with buildcraft as a kid shaped me as a person.
Lost Spires for Oblivion was really cool but I think the devs ended up forming a cult lmao
Midas Magic for Oblivion was really fun as a kid too.
New Vegas Bounties is a fun series.

No other quest mod can touch it, maybe Beyond Bruma for Skyrim, but even then, it's not nearly as inventive
Dylan's Mod for Far Cry 2. In fact, I've never played vanilla FC2.
It does bunch of stuff, but most importantly, enemies die after one or two shots. Immensely fun

Divide and Conquer for Total War Med 2. Best well ever get for a Lord of the Rings RTS in this style, its just a shame the engine is woefully outdated now and has built in limitations.
Stalker mods could have their own thread. Anomaly (and by extension GAMMA yeah frick you I like it) was a great freeplay experience. Lost Alpha is a classic. OGSR (with gunslinger addon) is cool. True Stalker is the new hotness but I haven't tried it yet I didn't like the UI on first glance.
MMod with HL2: Update, for HL2. Or HL2: 2004 if I'm feeling nostalgic.

Legacy of the Dragonborn. Needs a fair amount of mods to support it but it's worth it.
What did you like about it?
I think the world space has a good atmosphere and the dungeons were all different. It was like Fallout 3 but actually competent with an even dumber main story, but one you could ignore if you wanted.
Forgotten City for Skyrim. Or convergence for dks3 and elden ring.

The best mod I ever downloaded in any game is Wicked Whims for TS4. It completely changes the game into a porn simulator.
I also have to give a shout out the Sexout mod for Fallout New Vegas. I loved keeping slaves in my favorite RPG game.

>Turn the surrounding area of whiterun into a forest so visibility is down and you're in a never ending confusing dangerous forest for miles, and if you don't check your map good luck finding your way around
>If you join the stormcloaks you can't just enter the imperial side or vice versa, without getting murdered so you need to go undercover which adds a lot of immersion
I finally felt like Skyrim had become perfect. This mod list was the most fun I ever had. But then Todd ruined it with an update and I never bothered with mods ever since. I don't know how to change a games version, it's too autistic.
