>Terapagos' cry is actually Terastal's sound effect you have been hearing since the beginning of the game

>Terapagos' cry is actually Terastal's sound effect you have been hearing since the beginning of the game
>Tera Raids directly take after the Terastal phenomenon
>Area Zero theme also uses the Terastal sound effect leitmotif
>AI Professor's battle theme uses both the Tera Raid theme and the Area Zero theme, and leads to the Koraidon and Miraidon battle
>this Koraidon and Miraidon theme share leitmotif with South Province theme (where you first meet them) and the final cutscene of the base game
>Kitakami's Crystal Pond has basically a slow version of Area Zero's theme and connects to the siblings Carmine and Kieran
>Kieran's theme then connects to Terapagos', which is also based on Area Zero Underdepth's theme (another theme based on Area Zero's)
>then Terastal Terapagos and the Tera Raid theme combine into Stellar Terapagos
What are other samples of Pokémon using music theory for lore/storytelling? I kinda recall Ultra-Necrozma's theme having similarities with Solgaleo and Lunala's but nothing to the scale of Terapagos' music.

I think it's interesting that the two area themes for each area get a second version after beating the plot missions for that area, which incorporate small hints to DP tracks. It was a nice little surprise when revisiting them.
Well, except for the mountain area. Why didn't that one get the same treatment?

Must be a reference to how the characters mention each base is scheduled to become a village in the future. Once you clear the area, the DP version of the place feels closer.

There’s one thing I don’t get with the motif list from the PLA soundtrack, Route 210 isn’t listed as a motif for Cobalt Coastlands 1-1 or 1-2 even though you can hear it clearly near the start, Route 210 is also missing from the full motif list as a result. The booklet says that both versions have Route 209 as a motif while the 1-2 version adds Hearthome City as a motif, but I don’t hear 209 in the 1-1 version at all, only in the 1-2 version where it’s obvious

Pokemon lacking dynamic music in general is really limiting their ability to do anything really good with it, unfortunately. Only Gen 5 and the Switch titles really experimented with it, and even then it's extremely limited.
As for other examples, I really like how Gen 7 used the champion theme to express the different themes of the two sets of games. In SM it's the main theme of the series, where if it's your first game it's just what was on the title screen which is nice, but for everyone else with a lot more experience they understand the use of the main theme in other cases such as the GS credits or BW's "Victory Lies Before You", representing a sort of culmination. On the other hand, USUM using a remix of Hau's theme instead reinforces that game's use of the main rivalry as a sort of inverse of Gen 1's Red/Blue dynamic. The game treats it as him overcoming the odds and finally catching up to you. I just think it's neat and it's a real shame there isn't a variable mix that shifts based on how many Pokemon you have left, that would be sick as hell to have a musical back and forth that ties with the flow of battle. It could even end with "Victory Lies Before You" kicking in at the last moment. But again, the 3DS titles just didn't have dynamic music like that unfortunately. Once again Game Freak can't even keep up with N64 era Rare on the 3DS, I shouldn't be surprised after Lumiose had a worse camera than the already disorientating DK64.

Route music changed with the seasons and extra instruments were added when you were moving; also Accumula, Icirrus, Opelucid and Village Bridge had dynamic music based on talking to people (Accumula, Village Bridge) or whether you were near certain npcs (Icirrus, Opelucid)

          Anonymous

I wouldn't count the seasonal thing because you literally have to close the game and change the date (or let time pass) for the music to ochange but you are right about the rest. Funny how many things Paldea and Unova share despite them refusing to make the remake

        >Eternatus is an alien that happened to become the wolves' enemy
        >Terapagos is the sender of the Cyclizar legendary paradoxes to this world
We didn't get a third brit wolf, we didn't get an eclipse evolution for Nebby, and now people separate Terapagos from Koraidon and Miraidon because it's not a "Presentdon". Fricking ridiculous

what’s the 3rd legendary to the raidons then moron? since tera crystals are the reason why the raidons exist, and tera crystals come from terapagos then that means terapagos is the 3rd legendary duh

It's funny, Terapagos is literally the only legendary that matters in Paldea, Koraidon and Miraidon instead are just super rare paradox pokemon and the plot would have been the pretty much the same without them, meanwhile Terastalization and Area Zero is the origin of almost every plot in the game, and even in Kitakami the loyal three are just glorified slaves of Pecharunt and the real jam is in Kieran's obsession and insecurities.
Yet I still see some guys saying Koraidon, Miraidon and Ogerpon feel like the real legendaries, not Terapagos... because they have arcs and spend time with the protagonist before the climax. Which is fricking great and makes me love them but it's pretty much a backwards logic, they are the super rare pokemon you bond with, while Terapagos is THE ancient legendary of unspeakable powers behind Area Zero, the professor, the tera orbs everyone uses, the masks in Kitakami, the advancements of BB Academy...
I think it speaks a lot of SV writing how people dismiss the actual legendary because they have bonded with others instead.
