I'm not some speedrun autist but I usually have the clentaminator before anything can spread too close to me.
3 blocks, dynamite is extreme overkill unless you really need stone for some reason.
Bombs don't go through every block and they're much smaller in destroyed tiles than dynamite.
But I mean it's more like, why NOT take dynamite, because you should have a shitload of cash by the time you want to do something like this.

Now that hard mode is actually just the second half of the game it's just kind of silly.

Just play with a mod to remove biome spread
Biome spread is the worst thing added to the game. You build a nice cozy castle, and suddenly it turns into literal aids over night. Hope they never do the same thing with terraria 2, if that is even a thing.

Biome spread is a unfun game mechanic but using TEdit takes like 5 seconds to make barriers around your evil biomes
Why do people care about biome spread so much? You can change the biomes however you want with the Clentaminator.
takes me like 20-30 minutes to fully quarantine the evil biomes on a large world

IIRC you could build dirt pillars to prevent biomes from spreading. Or maybe you also had to turn them into mushroom biomes. It doesn't really matter because early hardmode sucks ass and you shouldn't linger in it.
You can use Dirt,
IF and only if none of the dirt is anywhere close enough for grass to spread to, and at that point you're better off just making slabstone.
I have never understood how people ever wind up being bothered by corruption spread. By the time it becomes an actual problem you'd have the Clentaminator.

And on top of that they also removed the effect of broken Demon Altars infecting a random block in the world.
