Its kinda funny, but yeah does set a bad precedent.
Meta lobbied hard for the banning because zuckerberg has invested millions into his own apps. The government really doesn't even want it banned, they just want control of it. The bill gives china 9 months to sign over the rights to an american company or its gone, so this can't even be spun as some anti brain rot message.

Millennials actually know how to work computers, its only zoomies/alphas that can't.
There's a few reason, one is the walled garden phone/tablets like you mentioned, another is schools threw out computer classes.

You are basically asking for a video from president biden where he says: "zoomer just discovered emulation due to it being added to iphones", which is not how reality works.

Millenials still had to figure out technology. It had to be fricked with until they learned all the ins and outs, which was part of the fun. Zoomers don't have to figure it out, everything is too intuitive and simplified so they don't have to use their brain. Its even worse with the latest gen, they just stare at a tablet or phone while an algorithm delivers neverending content to them

              >or is it that just using some dumbshit like a tablet all day is so easy babies can do it?
Has always been the later. Companies found it better for their users to be dumb as shit so they locked away basic functions on their devices and software and want you to always take it to them if something is broken so they can always charge you. They unknowingly found a way to kill piracy, just make everyone too dumb with computers. Another layer to this is schools and colleges also stop teaching the basics creating even more dumber kids.

I have 2 family members who work in things like fraud and banking in their late 30's and 50's and would always tell me that the workers that get hired are dumb as frick with computers and can't even do basic functions or use spreadsheets. They don't even know how they keep getting hired either. Knowing that these are kids managing your money and security is far more scary honestly.

              >hows this happen, by all accounts, millenials, zoomers and now gen alpha, who have grown up with technology
Millenials grew up in the earlier stages of the internet so in many cases they learned how things worked from the ground up and watched computers evolve over time

              >or is it that just using some dumbshit like a tablet all day is so easy babies can do it?
Correct, many zoomer don't own a PC not even a laptop. They only have tablets and phones where you press a button to get your app in the app store, press a button to connect to the internet, press a button to post your personal info to Twitter. If they do have to save a file, which is rare since most of them don't create anything, then they put it on the cloud where it's magically stored. So they never have to think about memory cards or hard drives, or god forbid an optical disk.
They aren't setting up static IPs or switching out hardware, or installing new operating systems. They don't even root or jailbreak their phones despite using them all the time.

This of course is all by design. Companies don't want people to know how to do any of these things because the less you can do yourself the easier it is to push you into services that do everything for you. They won't complain about not owning or being able to reinstall a game if they think they are all magical online things. The will be forever subject to automatic updates constantly pulling the rug out from under them whenever the company feels fit.
Companies convince them that owning things and having independence is scary and complicated so they are better off owning nothing and being happy.

They will gladly pull their pants down and get fist fricked by Papa Klaus filling them with stupid globohomosexual bullshit that they will end up believing with no question. because zoomers have sponge like brains that are incapable of think for themselves.

I do feel sorry for them. It was all by design. It's both sad and terrifying to see how the powers that be used years of psychological studies and research to utterly destroy the human mind and create the ultimate slave.

Zoomers are unironically a fragile and sissified bunch of pussies, worse than the millennials. I say this because they have gaslit themselves into thinking quiet environments are "uncanny" and terrifying. "Liminal spaces" or whatever moronic coined moniker they've given it is repellant to them that they are afraid of being in isolated areas such as some shitty American cookie-cutter suburbs where there isn't much noise, outer city limits or in the quiet rural areas surrounded by vegetation.

Zoomers are also the most autistic and ADHD generation too, they will break down if they are in a quiet place for a long ass time. They need to be surrounded by loud noisy environments to keep their already fractured mental state in good condition.

Because they are, you stupid homosexual. If you took someone from ancient times and threw them in the middle of a wilderness, they'd probably start panicking and desperately seeking their people. If you took anyone and put them in a place that was actually completely, truly silent, they'd start going crazy no matter where they were.

"ancient times" is an entirely nebulous phrase.
There are countless tribes and cities that trained their inhabitants on how to live in the wild. They wouldn't panic, they would simply survive.
Unless, of course, you think that people who have had to endure countless daily brutalities would be incapable of the mental fortitude required for surviving alone in the wild.

Also, total silence doesn't really exist at all. You're kind of a moron.

            >"ancient times" is an entirely nebulous phrase.
            Semantics.
Humans did not survive alone in the wild. Why the frick do you think they've gathered in tribes at all times? The only times they'd even go out in groups was for travelling or hunting. They never just took strolls into deep wilderness like modern day humans do, and it's not like every human had the smarts to just survive innawoods. Even if they did, they'd still want to gtfo back to a place where a predator can't just maul them to death with no one nearby to help them.

            >Also, total silence doesn't really exist at all. You're kind of a moron.
Consider that it's a hypothetical (you're capable of engaging with those, aren't you) that specifically has to do with the "liminal spaces" that you morons can't seem to grasp. If you were put in an abandoned mall with no readily apparent exit that was nearly completely silent, you'd constantly be on edge. Anyone who complains about the concept of liminal spaces lacks imagination.

              Anonymous

It doesn't. Liminal spaces can't have total silence, since that'd imply there'd be no air, which would mean you can't breathe. There is most definitely sound.
It's not like they're ginormous anechoic chambers.
You'd still be capable of creating sound either way.

Like I said before, they once coined 1997 to be the final millennial year at one point, then they considered anyone born after 1995 and onwards a zoomer until they chose 1997 as the "official" starting year for Gen Z. My point is, they are inconsistent. I'm going by the general consensus that 1995 and onwards is zoomer. Cope. About. It. gay.

Definitions are that upon which we agree, and the analysts more than likely noticed trends and differences in behavior between the generations, which is why the dates were changed lol.

This isn't a matter of pride, to say people who are just turning 30 and or approaching 30 is absolutely fricking delusional. And again, you've not interacted with zoomers, there's clear differences in behaviour between them and even 'younger' millennials.

                >I already do

You don't, because the cutoff date of 97 would be obvious if that were the actual case. It's almost like the cutoff date was changed from 95 to 97 due to behavioral and cultural observations, just a thought.

                Anonymous

The cutoff date was once 98, too. My entire point is that research centers are inconsistent with generational years and will subject to change every 5 or 6 years. With Gen Z, it fluctuates from 1995 to 1996 to 1997, then back to 1996 again. This is why the general consensus is 1995 - 2009 for zoomers.

                Anonymous

                >inconsistent
So we should just go with 95 for what reason?

Science or studies can be inconsistent, so we shouldn't believe in anything? Your own metrics are more arbitrary than the ones you're arguing against.

                Anonymous

Because for the longest time, before the new consensus coined by Pew, 1995 to 2009 was and still is the considered the general consensus for zoomer birth years.

Just like how at one point 1980 and 2000 was considered the loose consensus for millennials until people realized that 20 year generational spans were moronic.

                Anonymous

I mean, even 15 year generational spans are too long. Someone born in 1980 is going to have very different life experiences growing up compared to someone born in 1994.

                Anonymous

Someone born in 2000 and someone born in 2006 are different enough at this point I'd describe them as different generations. Like 06 is early Gen Alpha these people will have spent their entire formative years on tablets, while someone from 00 will have ended up being over 10 years old before the first iPad was made. Like the 2000s kid I'd describe as being closer to the helpless millennial type due to their life trajectory getting fricked by covid setting their becoming a normal functional adult phase of development back several years, something the 2006 kid wouldn't have had due to still being in school at the time.

Boomers gave women rights, gave Black folk rights, and sold out the generations that came after them with other shitty decisions that they made.
Gen X followed up on a lot of that homosexualry, pioneering a lot of shitty things we see today.
All generations are at fault. You're purity spiraling, bro.

            ok.
it was millennials who made shit like the source image for [...], the "mario but he's SICK and TWISTED and VIOLENT" videos, and who popularized stuff like "two girls one cup" and the jar video.
so i dunno, seems to me like they're more of the "GUYS THE JOKE IS SEX AND/OR [M-rated thing"]!" generation than zoomers.
            [...]
also seems more like a millennial thing, considering how they turned sex into a joke by popularizing gayginess, prostitute/sex work culture, and troons.

Daily Dose is fricking funny doe. Also DB isn't for children, but the punchline is Bejita getting fricked.

                and
                >Sex and porn exist
Like gachimuchi isn't funny because its just gay porn, its funny because the acting and writing are over the top silly as well. Zoomer gachi would just be a cropped clip of billy herrington jerking off with no context and no audio.

your argument is literally just "you dont get it bro, its funny because the porn SILLY!"

Gahahaha, where the frick do you think you are?
                Reddit? Twitter?
This is Ganker. Go on /b/ and look at the child porn threads, then come back here so I can spit in your face.

"Nature's perfection" is designing our penises to be capable of scooping out the semen of other men so one man can ensure he has a child over another man.
Nature rewards raping women and forcing them to bear your child. Nature rewards murdering your competition in order to ensure that your superior seed bears a greater generation. Nature is raping a child the moment they hit estrus so they can have your kid.
Nature isn't perfect. Neither are humans. Our own higher purpose and design, however, is far better than what we would have to expect in Nature's domain.
The only reason puritan homosexuals like you even get to share your opinions is because we have risen above Nature.

Anyways, Bejita getting assraped is funny. The joke is multifaceted, since you can use it against bejita posters on Ganker. There's a myriad of reasons why it can be funny, but what matters is the fact that it IS funny.

The exceptions do not prove the rule. The fact is, if you are an animal, it is almost entirely better for you to rape your mate than it is to not do so.
If it weren't for rape, you wouldn't even exist.
Also, if I am such a part of nature, then it is entirely within my prerogative to constantly think about fricking and sex. Sex would be my entire purpose, since I'd need to recreate to continue my bloodline. Once I do that, all I need to do is satisfy my other basic desires, and I'm good.
The basic aspects of our nature lie in self preservation. Preservation of the species comes second, and is almost as important.
If you want to be bound by nature, you're actually saying that people should be more sexual and driven by their desires for pleasure and reproduction over anything else.

~5% of mammal species engage in sexual monogamy, with a majority of bird species also mating for life.
the precedent is there and is more than a mere exception.
"perfection" varies from species to species. and we transcend the need for barbaric practices like rape or polyamory.

                So, a very small minority?
                Are you moronic?
Do you actually think that what you've posted proves anything?
Even in regards to sexual monogamy, there can still be rape. There can still be coercion.
Of course, female animals that do have choice do not choose based on higher meaning. There is no love in the animal kingdom, only raw physical attraction based on instinct.
Do you really think that's better than human beings loving each other based on ephemeral things, such as the mind?
I have no doubt you'd get no pussy in caveman times. Why do you praise "Nature's perfection", when you're such a shitty example of nature's creation?

                >There is no love in the animal kingdom
ok you've gotten my interest one more time for a final question:
do you believe that animals can feel emotions, or if they are PURELY driven by instinct?

                Anonymous

Primitive emotions in tandem with instinct. They are incapable of higher reflection and understanding. They cannot love someone for their soul, they cannot even understand the thought of love. They can't even understand basic introspection besides recognizing themselves in a mirror, and even that feat is rare.
The instincts that determine preservation of the species are greater than any emotional attachments that can be observed. A bird isn't going to mate with another bird for life because they love each other, they'll do so because the female chose the best mate in terms of genetic strength available, in order to ensure the propagation of their species.

If they can love you, they can consent, no?
Bestiality has been a staple of human culture since our inception.

                >A bird isn't going to mate with another bird for life because they love each other, they'll do so because the female chose the best mate in terms of genetic strength available, in order to ensure the propagation of their species.
you know nothing about birds, evolution, genetics or love.
many birds, -especially rainforest birds- look and act fricking moronic specifically because they have no predators or even environmental stressors sometimes, and sexual selection has gone unchecked, leading them to develop characteristics that are extremely unfavorable if the environment changes at all
females of a species do not just magically frick the "best" mate and magically evolve the species to become more superior

So... birds who aren't in a position to even engage in sexual selection, don't?

wrong again, mating in the animal kingdom is also largely based on behavior, often ritualistic behavior similar to what humans do, like dancing, singing, making a nice place to frick and have kids in
my point is just that it isnt about le genetic superiority, thats a moronic notion people have to justify worshipping the female gender and being obsessed with sex
but if love actually exists the idea that only humans can do it is just fricking moronic. humans are hardly different from animals. the fact that we think we're so much better is possibly the main reason why we arent. its why we can barely inch past the achievements of societies from thousands of years ago before letting everything go to shit and having to start over again

Millennials went out more and went to places "that should have people" -when they don't have people- pretty frequently. I've been to a community pool with lots of people, and I've been to same pool with nobody else there. It's not scary to me, because I've personally experienced that situation, and nothing bad happened. Same with parking garages. Same with a lot of places! We're old enough to experience the same area with high traffic and low traffic and no traffic.

If you drove through a populated town every weekend and then one weekend it was suddenly completely deserted, you'd at least wonder what happened to the populace and what was wrong with the place.

                >You'd also look at pic related and think it wasn't scary because
Wrong, the jungle could be scary due to the fact you would be be injured trying to navigate through the brush. The fact that you could not see at night. There is also risk of starvation and wildlife though that is not the same as being afraid of the forest itself.

An office building is entirely different, office building are designed to be relatively safe. There is much less in it to injure you and your original claim was that the atmosphere was the scary part not the hazards. The forest would be equally un-scary without any threats to my life. You are correct in that it would not give me "Existential dread".

                >You can't even comprehend context or reasoning.
There is no reason that people aren't supposed to be in large rooms or buildings alone. They are not "supposed to be packed with people". Your train of logic is clearly the result of corporate conditioning to discourage you from owning anything or desiring large personal property. There are people who own many acres of land and prohibit trespassing and they are not terrified to be on their property.

Holy shit, the point isn't that an empty location that is otherwise packed is inherently dangerous, as if the floor itself was suddenly going to fall out from under you. It's that a place that is normally and routinely occupied is for no observable reason completely empty, which means that something has occurred that is preventing or keeping other people away, or that the place itself is not what it seems. A town that is suddenly deserted is an immediate cause for alarm, and if you woke up one day and found your neighborhood devoid of all human life, you'd be lying to me if you said "Oh finally some peace and quiet I guess this is cool lol".

The fact that you fail to comprehend that you're inventing this weird strawman in your head is also very concerning. There are literally real abandoned malls all over america that you can just go to right now and nothing bad will happen. You'll even probably have a signal in them and can be comforted from your snapchat group (or whatever shit you people use now to be constantly in contact with everyone you've ever met, despite never having actually seen any of them in person - who am I kidding, you'd be using your phone to chat about your spooky situation into the void of your favorite twitch channel).
If the situations you're talking about were happening, yes obviously everybody would notice and care. But you know damn well that's not what the backrooms is about. It's about people thinking a picture of a swimming pool with no context feels 'eerie' because people on the internet told you it is.

Don't worry, It's not even just zoomers. Millenials also have stupid made up shit like trypophobia, a fear of poorly photoshopped images.

those arent scary because they have been closed for a while. the precedent is there that nobody is in the place, you KNOW why nobody's there. if anything it would be scarier to find proof that someone else frequents the area.
the argument is a place that should explicitly have people at that very moment.
if the mall is bustling the day before, and then is completely empty the day after for no discernable reason, then there's something that's keeping the people away.
if a well populated town is suddenly empty, despite everyone being fine and happy the day before, then there's something that's keeping the people away.
you KNOW why the people are away from a closed mall - because its closed. but if the mall isnt closed and nobody's there during prime shopping hours, then you should at least be aware that something's wrong and that you should probably make like everyone else and leave.

I literally used to fantasize about that shit. Just exploring my empty town, going into homes and looking through people's things and doing whatever I want. Exploring normally off-limits areas at stores and factories and government buildings. Travelling across the country exploring. I would fricking love that shit. Obviously if there were monsters or something roaming the streets, that would be different, but that's not the scenario presented.

The reason something like the backrooms would be scary isn't because
                >you don't KNOW why nobody's in this pool room!
It's because you're in an endless chain of random bullshit. The reason nobody's there is irrelevant, you're just regurgitating it because some liminal spaces youtube video told you that was the reason. Frick the backrooms would arguably be way worse if it were full of other people who were stuck there.

because in order to understand why the backrooms would be "a little spooky", you have to understand why "the entire town's populace suddenly disappeared and i dont know why" would set off mental alarms.

If everyone just vanished without a trace, there's probably nothing I could do to stop the same thing from happening to me anyways. It's not like the streets are littered with ripped apart bodies. Everyone's just gone. What acts of self-preservation am I supposed to be engaged in to counter that?

But there is an observable reason, you're in the backrooms. This isn't an office building you worked in. You have no reason to assume anybody was ever there aside from presumably whoever created it. It visibly isn't designed in a way that would make it productive to work in. It visibly appears to have been designed as a maze.

                >A town that is suddenly deserted is an immediate cause for alarm, and if you woke up one day and found your neighborhood devoid of all human life.
Again this is an entirely different argument, the scary part of that is not the town but the fact my friends or family are presumably dead.

If I was able to buy an abandoned town out in the middle of nowhere cheap and live there, it would not be scary just because it is an abandoned town or there are supposed to be people there.

Now you're misunderstanding. Let's assume that this byproduct of a byproduct is completely normal human reaction. Even if it is, only zoomers have this anxiety with empty parking garages, pools, schools, etc.. Not millennials, not gen X, not boomers. The reason is incredibly simple; your subconscious belief that "these places should have people" is 100% wrong.

              >your subconscious KNOWS that something is wrong because this is very explicitly -not- the established pattern
Every place zoomers are freaked out about are places that commonly both do and don't have a lot of people walking around. But you never experienced it! So, -to you-, it doesn't match the pattern. To -us-, it's totally normal. In the real world, there are very few areas with high traffic that don't also have low traffic. You feel anxiety from empty parking garages, but do you feel anxiety from empty city streets? No, because walking down empty city streets is normal as frick. There's no reason to develop an anxiety over something normal, unless due to fiction you think it's abnormal.

So the idea of empty rooms with no sensory stimulation causes their minds to implode into themselves leading to an existential crisis and knowledge that everything ends in cold silence causing them to realize their own mortality and the futility of existence and that the only thing that matters is having a good time....

Most people in general are moronic. The average person sees the stupidity of younger people and immediately starts playing with their nipples and circlejerking at how smart they are in comparison, when they themselves are only slightly less moronic, if not equally so. It's like children making fun of downies, they're both fricking stupid.
"life experience" doesn't make you any less ignorant or stupid to the nature of this world.
Most old people I've spoken to still believe in MSM, still blindly trust their government, still think their vote matters, ect.
Same goes for every other demographic I've spoke to.

Most generations have something they're good at, Gen-X and Millenials are garbage in their own way but at least they can use computers. Most Boomers know how to work on a car.
I can't see anything zoomers are good at other then being completely submissive to internet and corporate authority figures and that's not out of some kind of moral code or work ethic but simply out of incompetence. But who knows it could turn out that being woke and non-binary will be the most profitable skill of all.

I think the concept has potential as kind of a survival dungeon crawler.
Add like 50 floors with creatures and denizens sort of like oddworld, then let you craft weapons out of furniture. You could have secret passageways through the walls, cafeterias, server rooms, pools with fish in them, dark parking garage like rooms etc. Don't think it would really be a scary game though.

            So stop whining about it.

Remember they don't understand the very concept of time. It's why they are always late, because they straight up can't understand what the difference is.

They understand what time is. They understand what a promise is. They even understand the benefits of understanding both. It's that the way their lives have been engineered by political parties to make them useful idiots makes it so that they are promised more benefits for not practicing these concepts. They are even promised benefits for purposefully misconstruing them into absurd "blacked" versions of the concepts.

He probably lived in a country that gets 4 seasons instead of 1. The problem wasn't that they couldn't conceptualize time, it's that he made a category mistake and thought the concept of time was actually useful in a place where it has no use. I believe that was even part of the hypothesis/conclusion or what have you and yet people turn it around and use it to excuse lazy western Blacks whose former ancestors knew perfectly well how to not show up late. They knew timing so well that they actually made music worth a piss too.

TikTok has six months to sell their US operation to an approved company before the ban kicks in. The US doesn't actually want the platform banned, they just want control of it.

It's not that it wouldn't be scary if it happened irl but it's just kind of lame as a horror concept. Like, the idea that you can glitch through reality if you move wrong is more interesting than scary because it's so far removed from something that could actually happen. Then the actual "scary" parts aren't anything special. You can starve to death or be chased by le epic monster anywhere. It was fine as a one off creepypasta post, but we didn't need the Backrooms Cinematic Universe.

it is very reflective of what bothers zoomers as opposed to boomers: high concept (occasionally slow burn and atmosphere driven) horror that is occasionally controlled or broken down on a wiki

So, as previously stated in this thread, you lack imagination. Nobody sees an image of the backrooms and gets scared by the image alone. It's when they get immersed in the scenario of the backrooms that the image becomes scary.

this image is so incomparable to backrooms shit
the room is lit, and the doorway is dark so it juxtaposes known and unknown states
the dog is staring into the darkness which implies it has sensed something that we have not yet
              that's a scary setup

                >a hallway you fill with your own existential dread is not the same
Because it's always posted within the context of the backrooms. The image I posted was specifically meant to show that the image is more than just what is depicted itself. It's just that the backrooms image specifically had context provided with it. Pic related would just be a foggy street unless you knew that it was specifically a still from the Silent Hill series.

but the other image you posted quite literally gives you all the information you need for it to be scary
yeah without the context of silent hill, this would just be a foggy street. but the foggy street isn't what makes silent hill scary, it's the fricking monsters trying to kill you
likewise, the backrooms isn't scary because of the setting, it's scary because of your own existential dread. you are scared of purgatory, not the backrooms specifically

                Anonymous

                >the backrooms isn't scary because of the setting
Again, being stuck in a never ending maze of any sort is terrifying. I'm not saying you should be shaking in your seat right now, but whether you are thinking of the "greater implication" or not, nobody is going to be completely fine mentally if they were dropped in the backrooms.

it would be just as scary to be in solitary confinement. the hallways makes no difference, it's about complete isolation with no escape
that is purgatory. it doesn't even have to be a physical place it could just be a stasis for your mind. that IS scary I agree, but the room itself is so secondary to the actual fear at play that I cannot give any credit to the backrooms

then the room isn't the scary part, incarceration is
it doesn't matter if it's a pool or a hallway or whatever

Yeah but it's not any scarier to be lost in a maze of office space than it is to be lost in a cave or a jungle or catacombs.

I'd rather be there forever than dead and non-existent. I'm pretty sure I could find ways to entertain myself there, the people who are scared don't seem very creative.

that's interesting, I would rather be dead than immortal but in isolation

when I have to go to work super early sometimes my entire drive is on empty freeways
freeways that are normally full of people and cars
it's fricking amazing and not at all eerie

never said there was anything wrong with peace and quiet.
but there's a MASSIVE difference between "a nice quiet place" and "this place should explicitly be very active at this very moment, but its not"
a quiet room in a university library? thats fine, thats relatively common to find.
a quiet stretch on the freeway? yeah, thats common enough too.
but if its something like a mall, town square, or in the middle of a big city in the middle of the day, and its devoid of ALL life, then there's very clearly something wrong and you probably shouldnt stick around to find out what that thing is.

There is no robot-vulture, moron. Zoomers hate empty spaces because they can't be the center of attention.

Dude, just because a room is empty in a photo doesn't mean it's always empty.
The idea that somebody hasn't had the pleasant experience of finally finding a room all to themselves at night at their university library that's usually bustling blows my mind. you're missing out.

True, but fwiw everybody has ruined every internet based thing since forever. I hate zoomers but I can't blame them for that specific thing.

Even in the very first screencap of liminal spaces it said 'and then you hear him coming...' or something, therefore it wasn't ruined, it just reached it's logical conclusion.

I remember writing SCP creepypasta on /x/ when I was in high school 15 years ago. Seeing normies and shit referencing it nowadays is fricking surreal.

No, I didn't like boxxy either. I never got what made people obsessive over stuff like that. I mostly wrote creepypasta, I was an old writegay on /tg/, too. I wrote some of the old Kharn the Betrayer stories.

That's fine. I mean I'm with you on boxxy, but I'll keep my creepy chan nostalgia posting to myself then. I liked /x/ for the other stuff too though, it was the only board I frequented for a long time. We probably chatted 15 years ago a few times.

We probably did, then. Now it's a bunch of shit people actually believe like horoscopes and divination and stuff instead of dudes urban exploring and going to graveyards for ghost orbs or writing fun ghost stories. I miss the old days.

I think the list stickies ruined it to some extent. Like half of /x/ activity was just rehashing the same old spooky wikipedia articles and youtube videos with occasionally new things. One might whine about reposts but they were still fun threads. Once all the common stuff just got consolidated in a sticky, and all the creepypastas were just on the creepypasta wiki, there wasn't much reason to engage anymore, at least as much.
