I'm waiting until a month later to install the newest update. Since the update, I got like 50 hits on my malware scanners like hitmanpro. didn't even bother running the exe since I don't trust valve to not shove shit into my PC, so the whole install got nuked.
Once it's all sorted out, I'll reinstall.

This IS TF2, the red headed stepchild of the Valve family.It's not like there are going to be 50 programmers testing the update to make sure it's clean. They have maybe 2 skeleton crew members and a janitor keeping the game alive. that's the minimum needed to push out hat updates.

Dead by daylight used to be peer to peer with the killer player hosting the match. So it was easy for the killer players to get the other players IP.
They're on dedicated servers now since about three years ago if I remember right, but wouldn't be surprised if it still sends players IPs because of the morons working on the game.

I was already running at 400+ FPS before this, and had my FPS capped at 144 to match my monitor's refresh rate.

I haven't played casual in years since finding my favorite community server. Good thing too because I kept hearing how the bots make the game unplayable. Even before cathook Black folk, you have a bunch of queers/jobbers infesting them anyways. The only time I had fun with it was playing against a pubstomping party 1v6 style.
Really the main things that's probably got Eric not wanting to add new weapons is there's no beta for him to outsource testing like the old public beta

tf2 is fricked with linux at the moment. I have a friend who plays exclusively on the Steam Deck but i forgot how he got around with playing on it. It was something about a moronic command line fix.

Valve had to edit the "need workshop creators for summer update stuff" blog post because the original wording implied new weapons and balance changes. They are absolutely done with that shit.
No, they said it was an Update sized update, of which 14 new maps more than qualifies. moronic youtubers and comp players started screaming and shitting that they were going to update the scorch shot to post the home address and ip address and make all clients ddos them. To which it was quietly rewritten as a "holiday sized" update, which still would have been a floor of 4 maps, and the only real issue with the halloween and christmas updates is that we never got year round maps with the holiday ones, like when Harvest and Mountain Lab released.

Depends on the situation, honestly. Using the Buff Banner usually works well whenever your team needs a little extra push during a stalemate on a point but the Conch works better for when you're in defensive or low survivability situations
