i try socializing any chance i get online in the off-chance I meet more people like us that I know are out there, and once in awhile it actually works out. And given how things are, we tend to stick together once we find each other, so keep trying.
That, and the zoomers who can actually speak in anything beyond those parrot terms at all or aren't weirdly freaked out by any form of socialization outside of twitch chat or whatever are generally worth talking to, and the more we find each other in the mess that is the current internet the more we can form and grow our little grown-up 'secret bases' and have places of comfort to come back to once again like the whole internet used to be. I have so many games I'm happy with right now and not one of them was broken on launch, has Denuvo DRM, or has microtransactions.
Frankly, I don't know how zoomers put up with that shit, there's so many games out there right now that are good that don't frick you like that, but maybe getting fricked by publishers is part of the appeal for them, who knows.

There are more competitive games than shitty MOBA and BR. Play 1v1 Quake or Third Strike and see the world of difference it is to trying to cater to teammates whether they be random or someone you know.

I don't think anyone's really taken in account the micro-annoyances modern gaming has now -- for 30+ year olds with FT jobs to bother taking 90 minutes out of their week to play something... It needs to just fricking work and be ready to play.
Getting a group of 4-5 people to have the all have same game installed at the same time, and be past the mandatory tutorials etc is a massive hassle, some of these bloated shitter AAA's weigh in at 200gbs, meaning you'll have it installed and updated by the time everyone's done for the night, and then uninstall it you want that space back and everyone won't get together again for another 3-4 weeks.
Add on top of it random disconnects and lobby drops, 'planned maintenance', driver updates and reboots (for pc gays), and random homosexuals going AFK unannounced to attend to home things you easily need an hour just to get everyone ready to play the same thing.
The only MP games we play consistently are shit that is relatively quick to setup (has to be under 10 minutes to download and hit the main menu) is fun and has some semblance of reliability.
Picrel, its like 3gbs, has a huge library of workshop content thats well-integrated. Its been in our playlist regularly for like 2 years now, and makes a great lunch game for work from homos.
I've literally bought a long time friends an extra 1TB SSD for their steam libraries so they wouldn't pull the 'oops I don't have it installed' bit, and it still takes like 10 minutes for everyone to ready up.

I'm still here but I find it very hard to actually talk about games here now. People seem unable to enjoy things and are too busy posting /misc/, bbc, or ironic shit.

We mostly just diversified the websites we go to is all and focus more on dedicated communities, and started playing a lot more single player games and older multiplayer games since new multiplayer games suck ass and are no fun allowed + have no actual communities that can form around dedicated servers because everything's a fricking matchmaking based game now where you may as well be playing with npcs since a literal bot in Quake 3 Arena is more of a conversationalist than these fricking people and sadly I am not even exaggerating.
I have so many games I'm happy with right now and not one of them was broken on launch, has Denuvo DRM, or has microtransactions.

New multiplayer games aren't fun anymore, whether it's because they're excessively sanitized, lack custom servers, or are just not as good as what we had back in the day. Multiplayer Star Citizen is a slow burn I don't play it much except when there are updates and events, I've played with people of all ages and everyone's been having a blast together on voip despite the age gap.
For multiplayer I just play some other MMO to fill the content gap like FFXIV despite it feeling like a barren singleplayer wasteland you still see players going about their business.

There are more competitive games than shitty MOBA and BR. Play 1v1 Quake or Third Strike and see the world of difference it is to trying to cater to teammates whether they be random or someone you know.

I haven't played a multiplayer game since I got bored of payday 2 3 or so years ago, and even longer before that.
I only played with friends and people from the payday general here so most were at the very least in their mid 20s.
me and my mid 30s friends play a lot of valorant and believe me when i say zoomers are soulless zorgs who have 0 mental fortitude (they'll always try and forfeit if you're like 4 rounds behind), dumb as pigshit (if you kill them pushing a lane for no reason, they'll push it twice as hard the next), stat fiends (if you have 3 v 2 with the bomb down they'll always go off site looking for ego kills, have their head taken off and make it winnable) and worst of all are completely and utterly obsessed with entirely cosmetic skins like the little hyper consumer b***h boys they are.
worst of all, they're all terminally unfunny and have no banter. the times when we get queued with other old timers is only time i feel like we're playing with the same species.

I don't think anyone's really taken in account the micro-annoyances modern gaming has now -- for 30+ year olds with FT jobs to bother taking 90 minutes out of their week to play something... It needs to just fricking work and be ready to play.
Getting a group of 4-5 people to have the all have same game installed at the same time, and be past the mandatory tutorials etc is a massive hassle, some of these bloated shitter AAA's weigh in at 200gbs, meaning you'll have it installed and updated by the time everyone's done for the night, and then uninstall it you want that space back and everyone won't get together again for another 3-4 weeks.
Add on top of it random disconnects and lobby drops, 'planned maintenance', driver updates and reboots (for pc gays), and random homosexuals going AFK unannounced to attend to home things you easily need an hour just to get everyone ready to play the same thing.
The only MP games we play consistently are shit that is relatively quick to setup (has to be under 10 minutes to download and hit the main menu) is fun and has some semblance of reliability.
Picrel, its like 3gbs, has a huge library of workshop content thats well-integrated. Its been in our playlist regularly for like 2 years now, and makes a great lunch game for work from homos.
Steam remote play for couch co-op shit has been nice to avoid dealing with midwits that can't keep games installed or their drivers updated etc.
I've literally bought a long time friends an extra 1TB SSD for their steam libraries so they wouldn't pull the 'oops I don't have it installed' bit, and it still takes like 10 minutes for everyone to ready up.
