>tfw my co-workers who also collect retro look down on me because I don't have a Sega Saturn yet
Should I shell out for a Sega Saturn someone is selling on my area for $200?
>tfw my co-workers who also collect retro look down on me because I don't have a Sega Saturn yet
Should I shell out for a Sega Saturn someone is selling on my area for $200?
Sounds like your coworkers have shit taste.
yeah frick them. even in japan at the time it was fresh it was considered the Nipponese coomer console.
It's a great system but that seems awfully high unless it comes with a good game or two
absolutely not. your coworkers sound like nerds so they maybe would be more impressed with a (much cheaper) japanese system, and cheaper japanese games
they probably look down on you because you're a manlet
>buying a console out of peer pressure and not because you think you'd enjoy it
lel
do you like arcade ports anon? because that's what you'll get
>collecting Sega Saturn games in 2022
Do not do this.
Investing in Saturn today is a huge money sink.
This. I spent thousands of yen acquiring my Saturns. And only 8/12 came with a mod chip. You could literally almost buy a gallon of gas in the cheapest state for what I paid for them all.
Why? Japanese Saturn games are like 10 bucks a piece.
Not any more sadly.
just emulate it
Lol @ this horrible cope. Emulation is shit. Buy a Saturn if you will play multiplayer games with your mates.
"Lol" or "lol, pls"?
Imagine getting this booty blasted over Lol
Imagine being a turbo autist zoomie and having never messaged/texted someone Lol
Calm down seething chimp
>mocked for chimping out over over a phone
>chimps out even chimpier
lol @ this horrible arrest
sup ebay scalper
you're shit
and netplay has existed for years now
Saturn has become hipster shit, avoid
what about those of us who actually bought a saturn back in the 90s?
all 5 of you?
well? what about us?
You're all forgiven, but you'll have to don a license proving you're from back then. Yeah, I know that carrying papers are a drag and all that, but they're necessary to maintain order around here.
I have at least 2 Saturn games with the original sticker from a store that existed back in the 90s in my city, would that be enough? Coupled with my actual age reflected on my ID card (I look younger than I am)
That'll do it, son. Order maintained. I'm glad that I'm a good cop. Father would be proud.
Paperweight.
Get a Mister as a Saturn core is in development so you can pretend you give a shit about the Saturn even if you don't. Hopefully you'll end up liking it but even if you don't you can benefit from all the other consoles that can run off it. If your coworkers are original hardware elitists then that's their problem not yours.
I paid 70 for my saturn, don't do it.
Saturn really isn't that unreasonable to collect for. Plenty of games that still are under the $60 range, just nobody cares about them, but they're better than expected. As long as you aren't splurging and getting the expensive ones multiple times a month it's not that hard to get a shelf of Saturn games. I have 16 longbox games at the moment from about 2 years of casual buying, roughly once every two months or so
Imagine being bullied by other nerds into getting a Saturn. Yikes.
>have like 2 friends total
>the other one does not care about retro and the other just jerks off on his trinitron he paid 300 dollars for
To be honest we don't really even see or talk to each other anymore these days. I wish I had retro friends who would be happy just playing games and having good old retro fun. It's not fair.
Eh, depends.
If it's in good condition (most Saturns are, they're well built), has all the cables and 2 controllers, I'd say it's worth it, especially if it's in your area and you can pick it up yourself instead or relying on shipping services/costs.
You can probably get a cheaper one if you look around but then you'd have to deal with shipping and the possibility of malfunction if you have bad luck.
But I'd say try to bargain it to $150 or something.
>tfw my co-workers who also collect retro look down on me
Saturn is a wonderful system. Games are stupid expensive though. I would get the system, a controller and just burn any games you want to play on a cd.
OP here.
Don't be moronic, people. My co-workers are fun and it's all banter. They make fun of me because they know I also want a Saturn, I'm NOT going to buy one because of "peer pressure", don't be stupid.
But yeah they've been into retro since the early 00s so they got a lot of good stuff for pretty cheap.
Tell them you're waiting for a good exclusive before you bite the bullet
They'd probably just mention Panzer Dragoon Zwei or Dragon Force and call him a homosexual.
what are some good PS1 exclusives?
>Metal Gear So-
also on PC
>Final Fantasy sev-
Also on PC
>Tomb Raid-
Also on PC
>Symphony of the Ni-
Also on Saturn
>uuuh, mizzurna falls!
nobody plays it, it's just cool to pretend that you do.
Ape Escape
R Type Delta?
(you)
Actual OP here. I made up the whole story because I love low effort Saturn shitposting. Also I don't actually have any work colleagues because i'm a 500lb NEET who never leaves the house.
Go for it.
Get a superior startup sound and cheaper price JP one. It's one of the easiest classic consoles to hard or soft mod and a lot of the best games are still dirt cheap in Japan just don't bother with US releases.
I like how all the sound effects from his OSD are saturn sounds
Do not fall for the shiturn meme, Bernie did not die for this
have a nice day schizo
>Verification not required.
back to the psych ward auster
Sad that the bernie thread you were bumping for days died, ostorlio?
>don't have a Sega Saturn
Shameful.
kek you could get one of these for $20-40 just a few years ago
I bought a Japanese one for $3 just a few months ago.
lol i remember like 15 years ago my local vidya stores had cib saturns for $40 collecting dust on shelves nobody wanted that shit
ironic, is it not
I loved visiting random shops and buying bulks of Saturn, N64 and PS1 games in like 2002/2003.
>Person looks down on you for not playing with your toys in the exact way they want
They are being a Black person Anon, we don't listen to Black folk Anon
You aren't a retro collector if you don't own a Saturn
Bernie dropped the ball with the RAM cartridge. Will you drop it too?
>Should I shell out for a Sega Saturn someone is selling on my area for $200?
They're like 70 dollars on Ebay.
plus shipping, plus maybe malfunctioning parts or something getting fricked in the shipping process.
>plus shipping
ok 80 dollars then. The point is not 200 genius.
>plus maybe malfunctioning parts or something getting fricked in the shipping process.
>what is Ebay's return policy?
Literally get your money back for free and Ebay always sides with the customer. What is the benefit of OP spending 200?
no, i found one at a swap meet booth, not a gaming shill one, a junk one for $30.
>create powerhouse 2d machine
>develop zero(0) impressive 2d games for it
What did Sega mean by this?
keyo flying squad 2 exists. still, the console sucks, and I like Sega in general.
I mean by Sega specifically. There's a handful of impressive 2d games that are on the platform like Cotton 2. They aren't by Sega.
>He doesn't own a Saturn
HAHAHAH
homosexual
Not owning a Sega Saturn at this point is australia-kun levels of moronic.
My wife literally just walked past me at the computer, gave me a kiss and walked away laughing. I asked her what's so funny and she replied "I can't believe OP doesn't own a Saturn" and we both started laughing. Get a Saturn already, it's a great system.
Verification not required.
Same thing happened to me. But I said "true story" instead of "verification not required". Because I'm old enough for teh 4chin.
stop being a gay that cares about what other people think and collect what you like
if you dont like the saturn then dont buy it, end of story
Frankly you need to LEAVE THIS BOARD until you own a Saturn (in box).
This place is for genuine retro enjoyers only.
just embarrassing
You've missed the boat mate, by about 15-20 years. The good games for it cost over $400 each now.
Thankfully a stack of blank cds is really cheap.
Learn Japanese and buy a Japanese Saturn and a bunch of games for around 100 dollars and then look down on them for being EOP scum that overpays for retro.
>Just spend 10 years learning Japanese to save a few hundred dollars on video games, bro. I'm so much smarter than everybody else haha
>just keep begging for fan translations from trannies bro
>Should I shell out for a Sega Saturn someone is selling on my area for $200?
buy a white one from japan, it will be cheaper, in better condition and look nicer
none of this happened
I'm actually someone who secretly looks down on my coworkers that only play/are aware of, Nintendo stuff.
This but I run an independent game store and do the same thing. But hey, Nintendo brings in the spenders so...
Holy shit dude what dicks..>That being said there are a ton of great games for Saturn. Mostly imports. PRETTY easy to mod to load cd backups also which I did. That being said I can't believe I bought mine for 15 dollars years ago and its went up so much.
