I wish they would at least do things with a bit more earnest. Like it's fine to be all wacky and stuff, but do it in the way that old media used to do it where the story was at least played straight, but there was some subtle humor to it too.
I played the game and rather than feeling genuine it feels more like the typical modern artist trying to "emulate" 80s anime but only sticking to a certain style and over exaggerating everything rather, which might be the actual idea but I personally don't like it. They even did the Akira slide because of course it had to be there.
Other than that, I'd still say it looks good in general, and it's pretty fun.

It's like half mecha game half dating sim because I know there was always a girl you could work with in the corner of the screen and if you kept working with one of them they'd eventually start crushing on you. It wasn't Sakura Wars but I'm like 99% sure it was either a Saturn or Dreamcast game

I really like this game from the demo but it needs another difficulty between normal and hard, looks like there is going to be a 5th difficulty but harder than hard instead.
I also think maybe it should just let you choose your weapon but it seems like there are heavier weapons in the full thing, unless what I saw was level 2 of the SMG
In saying that I just finally reached the last boss on hard
but I think I probably would have died on floor 18 if I hadn't gotten the slow down in last 3 seconds perk, still not bad, I always intended to do this but thought I would need an in between mode to train up to this level

Looking at the easy mode it gives you a marker for the exit door (without the upgrade that usually needs) which unless I was too distracted to notice was not in journalist mode, journalist mode had full heals saying they gave 15 seconds like in easy mode though
