I still use mine. I also use my PS2. Why wouldn't I? A lot of great vidya on them that I still haven't played and most of them are better than what's on the PS4/5
Same. The jailbroken PS3 is one of the more kino hacked consoles you can have these days >Child's play to hack >Huge fricking library >Freeshop still online, disc ISOs easy to hunt down these days >Decent PS1/PS2 backwards compatibility even on new models >Can put any old laptop hard-drive in there easily for more storage >Online still works with some titles and costs nothing
Mine still gets plenty of use, only downside is the fan is loud as frick lol
I would be too if the fricking disc drive didn't pack up. Meanwhile I was playing Crash Bash and Die Hard Trilogy on my 20 year old PS2 last night with no issues.
>PS5 on side >Tiny space >Not standing upright out in the open
Must suck to live with pets who knock shit over, as for me I have mine sitting next to my PC on the table in the upright position with plenty of space, and I keep it clean and pristine looking.
I'd buy one to make it into the perfect retrocompatible console but holy shit the morons on online stores that know about jailbreaking and modding consoles ask ridiculous prices for these black bricks
my ps3 was on for hours a day solely for music and video content until a few years ago when i found out it eats through 80w at idle lmfao i just bought a shitty android stream box and loaded aosp on it.
>ace r >gundam uc
I hope that's just an exclusive list and not a good games list because theyre both trash. I fricking hate ace r so much that i gave it away.
Did you know that you can't copy PS5 game saves to a USB drive? People just gave up their ownership of their saves to Sorny. PS3 was basically the last console you could do what you wanted. PS4 stole online and locked it behind PS+, then PS5 stole even your save games.
>Did you know that you can't copy PS5 game saves to a USB drive?
Holy shit, seriously? what if I want to backup my saves in case they get corrupted? >PS3 was basically the last console you could do what you wanted.
Even then you could see inklings of the decline. Certain save files are "locked" to profile of the person who made the save and you can't transfer them via USB. While it only applies to a small amount of games (mainly Souls games), it was still there.
you can
you can also select specific games to back up to while in the screen
it not as easy as it was on ps4 which is shit, but saying you cant back of PS5 saves at all is not true
this link takes you directly to how to do it on ps5 on the official playstation website
https://www.playstation.com/en-us/support/hardware/back-up-ps5-data-USB/#:~:text=FAT%20and%20exFAT%20formatted%20USB,to%20save%20your%20backup%20data.
You have to back up all data at once and when you restore it will delete everything you have on there. That is not backing up saves and it is not useful or putting you in control of your data. Why do you fricks constantly come out of the woodwork to defend corporations? Are you on their payroll?

Actually, I just checked and while it is mainly From Software titles (Souls and Armored Core) some other devs implemented it too. While you could get around it on a jailbroken system and using Apollo Tools, people on an unmodded console are fricked over for no reason.
Holy shit I'm glad I'm not the only anon whose pissed off about that function on the ps5.
I still backup my ps3 with ps1 and my ps4 onto a USB stick but it's bullshit you can't do that on the ps5. Hell I just played the ps4 version of resident evil 4 remake just so I could back it up.
One thing I love about the PS3 is that PS4 controllers are able to work on it as well. Either plug it in via the charging cable or setup bluetooth. It isn't perfect as you'll still need a PS3 controller to enter the XMB while in game but it's better than the PS4 not allowing you to use PS5 controllers at all.
bros, what gaems are you looking for?
I have a hacked ps3 for >ps3/xbox only games not on pc or not remastered yet, still own some in physical >multiplats, doing a research on games with alive online in shit like cod, watch dogs and shit for >fun
But own a physical collection of exclusives.
For xbox360 owners beware that once the shutdown actually happens (and nu-snoy will surely follow with ps3 if xcucks don't retaliate against that decision) then if you don't buy some exclusives now expect a permanent price rise especially on rpg/tranime obscure stuff and horrors BUT DO NOT PANIC BUY, the prices usually go lower in 6-12 months, also look out for "lots" on ebay because clueless people might give away their collection without knowing it's real worth.
Always check "compeleted" deals on ebay to see for how much the games go and how many are sold, it's really a demand and supply question, so some games with limited disc print will have a massive price spike. >tfw he boughted the dip
Btw can't stop laughing at gradecucks. Lirerally the most pathetic "humans" on earth. Black person thinks it's okay to overpay hundreds for some shitty mid game and just because it says graded on the plastic box then xhe will be happy. Therefore this achieves two things >A moron falls for the scam and the game just sits on his shelf forever, he never had the intention to play but buyers remorse hits him just like the norwood hits his hairline and he will never give it away for cheaper >A normal person interested in some game sees the insane prices and will never play the game. Every sellers obviously will follow too.
Truly, the Black folk and audiogays of gaming.
It's a good legacy PS console. Many noteworthy games never got ported over. Plus it supports PS1 and PS2 discs, with the latter requiring jailbreaking for newer models. Free online is also a plus.
crazy to think that still with that many people playing older PS gaems on native hardware that sony still thinks its "not a huge playerbase" when it comes to supporting the emulation of said older consoles. such a horrible game company.
If Sony were not a bunch of moronic homosexuals they would release a console that has full backwards compatibility. Ps1-Ps5 disks can be popped in and played. We all know sooner or later they are gonna force fully digital games. One last hurrah for Physical media and the history of the Playstation brand.
Apparently it's to do with performance, its like having all consoles into one singular console and it would probably frick with the ps4/5 games but I'm not entirely sure. That or they want you to buy ps premium
>Apparently it's to do with performance, its like having all consoles into one singular console and it would probably frick with the ps4/5 games but I'm not entirely sure
No anon, that's not it. What it is is that supporting all that legacy stuff and assuring it all worked would cost a lot. They'd need to have an emulator that can run every PS1-2 game and probably a whole 1:1 copy of the PS3 hardware in there with the PS5 hardware and just no one would pay the price they'd have to ask. If they had from the start not made their architectures weird and shit for PS2 and 3, then it might have been possible. But Krazy Ken just had to have his emotion engine and THE POWER OF THE CELL. If the cell had worked, then it also might have been possible as they had good BC for PS1-2 in PS3 for awhile until they axed it to cut costs since PS3 was losing gen 7.
backwards compatibility goes wholly against Sony's current business model of just rehashing the same shit until we all die. It's easier to just tell people they don't want it.
They could just remake the fricking cheap ass CD disks and sell brand new copies of games that require literally 0 work. Because they were finished literal decades ago. Why let the consumer be the only ones to profit from the retro gaming market? It's obvious the demand is there.
> remake the fricking cheap ass CD disks and sell brand new copies of games
people would expect PS1 games for like $5~$10. The low volume, logistics, shipping, and handling would make it unprofitable. furthermore, they probably aren't at liberty to launch printing runs of old media unilaterally.
also, why sell CDs when you can just make the goyim download ISOs for much cheaper?
>Ps1-Ps5 disks can be popped in and played
doesn't make sense commercially. you 100% do not want to push people towards the second-hand market.
Apparently it's to do with performance, its like having all consoles into one singular console and it would probably frick with the ps4/5 games but I'm not entirely sure. That or they want you to buy ps premium
>performance
I'm sure they could find a way to run old games >PS2 and PS1 should run comfortably. the hardware is really weak and they have complete access to all the documentation on both systems >PS3 would be harder to emulate thanks to cell. And Considering how much PCs struggle with it, I doubt it's doable on console. >PS4 and newer run on X86_64, so I assume they don't need any emulation.
The problem is they need permission to sell anything that's 3rd party because of the same israelitepyright laws corpos love to use to sue people.
>PS3, a dead console for over a decade, has more than half as many users as Series X >And that's JUST ONLINE
Jesus Christ. No wonder there are so many seething Xbox shills investing the boards
hacked my ps3 maybe seven months ago, and it's probably the best experience I've had with a hacked console, at least in terms of how streamlined it is, with the online still functional, every game updates automatically, can download patches or non-official hacks on the console itself, so on
finished valkyria chronicles, tales of xillia 1 and 2, tales of graces f, and a bunch of little games no one cares about
gonna check out this janky white knight chronicles game, the ps3's library is a lot more expansive than I remember it being back when the console was alive and kicking
I remember not having internet in the house for a while as a teen, buying WKC2 during that, and finding out that the online was shut down literally a fricking WEEK after I bought it.
Its fricked up because it was just NA servers that did that at the time. Japanese GeoNet was still booming and even had extra stories. What double blows about this is that the quest are designed around the fact that you should have a kill squad of other human players.
Still wish the combat was more than rock-paper-scissors, and the story actually involved your MC in some form so you're not standing around blank staring in every god damn cutscene in the back row.
Here is what you do.
A PC allows you to play all the Xbox games and functionally endless other exclusive games. Plus all the other bonuses of the Master Race.
A PS5, if you want a console game to sit and play on the couch with a big ass TV and nice sound system. There are exclusives but slowly but surely they are coming to PC as well.
Switch if you like Nintendo first party games or the few exclusives they get.
i haven't used it recently enough to be counted as one of the 2 mil (i assume) but it's not like i've put mine away forever either, i still have games i want to play and intend to play on it. (i don't mean in the steam backlog meme sense either, i mean games i actively think about playing a lot)
I'm fine with that since I have long moved away from depending on Steam.
What you don't want is all your games tied to a single service (or any service for that matter).
When he dies you will have 100TB storage and all your library today you will fit in 1% of the space. It's going to be fine. There will also be plenty of vydia to enjoy, as long as you aren't one of those guys who's always seeking the latest installments.
We are probably twenty years away from that. There's plenty of time to enjoy you current catalogue.
Then it'll also have another fee on top of that to use your own internet btw
>It burdens my soul knowing 4/5 years after gaben dies
Shouldn't have given all that power to the fat israelite and his company.
It's all (You) r fault stupid goyim.
>they had good BC for PS1-2 in PS3 for awhile
PS2 BC on PS3 was achieved by literally including PS2 hardware.
You're very dumb.
I used mine a lot until I got my PS5, frankly emulation is tolerable in most of the titles I'd want to play and those I don't I can still plug it in for.
It's still one of the best DVD players and bluray players on the market.
We play Ps3 to get trophies in games we liked 10+ years ago.
We play Enslaved, Lollipop chainsaw, Slaughterhouse, Shadows damned, Alien Vs predator, Transformers, Family guy, Ice Age, Overlord, Nier(father), drakengard, God of war, Dante inferno, Dragon ball raging blast 1-2-3
>have a dead fat PS3 >also a modern slim not compatible with cfw >Hen seems likes too much effort
Honestly I'd pay to fix the fat one but the hardware is so fricking bad it will die on me again.
Star Ocean 3 required it for one specific gimmick later in the game, and the GT series used it for both steering and acceleration if for some fricking reason you disliked using the analog sticks.
Still use mine. I wouldn't have to if Sony offered a means of playing native PS1/PS2/PS3 discs on a PS5 model, because FRICKING HELL the PS3 Slim gets warm when playing late-gen titles.
Literally turned off my PS3 like 15 minutes ago. I still play a lot on it. Specially to wrap up some games and post game content. I'll probably start a new Tales of Graces f playthrough.
I'm actually playing mine right now. I hook it up once or twice a year to replay some games on my couch. It helps that it was the last good PlayStation once it finally got games.
The three main things I hated about the PS3, that Sony didn't have the foresight for:
> OS not displaying labels before the accompanying icon loads (makes crawling through a large save/music/photo list tedious) > Hamfisting the 'ingame' OS in the 2.0 update, which was the slowest fricking thing on the planet. Should have just added friend-list/messagerr functionality to the text-only one it already had >Console requires a hard reset if the game crashes
Actually, a fourth thing > The HTML-based store - They had the fricking perfect store already and replaced it with a slower, crashier one with less sorting/search options
the HTML based store was literally pushed out to move people to ps4.
That's the whole reason. We saw this stated explicitly and plainly in multiple investor reports around the ps4 launch.
The thing is I *still* didn't use that store on the PS4. I used the webstore for the majority of the PS4's lifespan until they fricked that over too with the basic-as-frick one that was missing a ton of features.
A shame they still use it to this day, and apparently the PS5 store is identical to PS4s, complete with assuming you have fast internet so it can load giant PNG banners and embedded videos on every page, when I just want to see some fricking description info, download size (which still doesn't show on half of the games), or simply FINDING a fricking game in the first place due to shit filtering options.
Their storefront and consumer practices is what pushed me off to sticking with PC/Steam this generation. At least i can find what I want there, along with consume friendly refunding options (refunding with Sony is like pulling teeth out, I've done it twice with them for reasons both their fault).
I'm not saying it was better but they put it out knowing it was about 40% slower (if not more in many cases) to push people to ps4.
And yeah the web store is what I used (and still use, because if you want to buy ps4 games to play on ps5, guess what, can't use ps5 store)
are PS3 games still playable online? I used to play Demons Souls and DaS1-2 on PS3 back in the day until my modded PS3 got banned on PSN. Several years ago though, I got another PS3 for five bucks at a flea market, but by that point I had never even bothered trying to go online with it. Would be nice to play Demons Souls online again though.
All up to the publisher. For whatever reason, the PS3 Ratchet & Clanks still have online support despite near every other Sony-published game losing them (even ones available on whatever PS Now is called nowadays), and I was surprised that Peace Walker HD still had functioning servers (played some bro-op with a friend a few months ago).
I feel like 360/PS3 benefit more from HLE than previous generations. That generation has the most to benefit from forcing decent anti-aliasing and texture filtering/LoD draws than anything prior, due to their inability to properly maintain 30fps with the push to 720p, with texture/shader detail that often was rarely fully resolved due to the resolution/bloom/etc abused at the time.

The list can be outdated and I made it for myself a while ago if I wanted to play any of those game in the future but I usually don't play online, and as far as I'm aware of ac4 was not taken down yet. Maybe try with another ubi game to see if the issue persists?
Also try reinstalling the game or logging out and in if you managed to connect on some games, also mind that the servers can just stop working and it's surprising they even made it available again, like what are they cooking fr.
Also I wil say that if you really want to find people that get together to play a game or two on weekends then your best bet is asking in the trooncord for that game. I'm not in any so won't provide links.
Also a reminder that this is the fate of all always online garbage out there and some single player games require you to be always online.
Have you seen the price of used PS3s? And there's no telling when they'll YLOD either if it's a PS3 fat or earlier Slim model.
That and the hassle being that you can't just drop your old HDD into the other PS3 and continue as normal, shit forces a format due to drive encryption key'd to the hardware, unlike the 360.
Speaking of hacks the PS3 is super easy to crack with just a USB dongle. Use it to emulate those wacky Japanese games you would never put money towards. It can also act as a PS1 and PS2 emulation station but those systems are easy to emulate on anything so less people might be interested in it
In addition to the PS4 and PS5, my PS3 plays all the following:

Not sure if any anons in this thread can help me, but I've been wanting to swap the CMOS battery out and to reapply some thermal paste on my softmodded PS3. Will swapping out the battery frick me over and wipe everything on my hard drive?
What do you have on the PS3 that means so much to you? I like Resistance 3, Ridge Racer 7, and Time Crisis Razing Storm quite a bit but I don't know if it's worth still keeping the console around for them.
>tfw og ps3 had the ylod >my family thinks I'm responsible for its death
I clearly remember when it happened, that scared me so much and for years I thought I had broken it by playing too much
I still use mine. I also use my PS2. Why wouldn't I? A lot of great vidya on them that I still haven't played and most of them are better than what's on the PS4/5
you have to toss away the old thing when new thing comes out silly goy
Frick that I still have my Turbo Grafx 16 hooked up in my bed room for whenever I want to do a few runs of Blazing Lazers.
And I'm one of them thanks to jaibreaking my PS3
same
I also have Demon Souls and Okami to play
Hey i have that cursed 16:10 monitor too. Stopped working unfortunately
Mine died like 10 years ago. It just simply stopped working one day iirc.
same. I've been using it for a few months now.
played trough and tried a bunch of games as well, even PS2 / psone games.
>Demon's Souls
Are you literally me?
still got a sealed copy of this gem
>Sealed Copy
>Greatest Hits
Ok.
>Greatest Hits
doesnt count
your setup is nigh identical to mine
I miss the brutalist ps4 like you wouldnt imagine.
Same. The jailbroken PS3 is one of the more kino hacked consoles you can have these days
>Child's play to hack
>Huge fricking library
>Freeshop still online, disc ISOs easy to hunt down these days
>Decent PS1/PS2 backwards compatibility even on new models
>Can put any old laptop hard-drive in there easily for more storage
>Online still works with some titles and costs nothing
Mine still gets plenty of use, only downside is the fan is loud as frick lol
>laptop hard-drive
please don't do that. any laptop made in the last 10 years comes with a shitty SMR HDD.
Mine is still hooked up, not using it much outside of Okami and dragons crown
I would be too if the fricking disc drive didn't pack up. Meanwhile I was playing Crash Bash and Die Hard Trilogy on my 20 year old PS2 last night with no issues.
Hola
Where's the silicone arm?
>that pic
lmfao that was a great thread
post archive link?
I do hope you clean your vents out every weekend.
>black ps3 with white controllers
>white cat with black accents
I didn't even see the black PS3. I was looking at the white PS3
lol I didn't see the white ps3 till you mentioned it
>PS5 on side
>Tiny space
>Not standing upright out in the open
Must suck to live with pets who knock shit over, as for me I have mine sitting next to my PC on the table in the upright position with plenty of space, and I keep it clean and pristine looking.
Still use mine as well, and have a second softmodded one right next to it.
I broke out my softmodded PS3 a few months ago to play a few games. Didn't touch it in 5+ years prior to that.
thats just people who phone home back to psn? probably countless more still using ps3 offline or using spoof apps.
>Thanks to the hack
which hack, is there an article stating those numbers?
The recent Insomniac hack.
They had documents showing that ~2 million people still use their PSN account on PS3.
Cool, PS3 rules
Jak yes the rest no, those are notoriously bad versions
thanks anon, I was confused.
Still using my jailbroken PS3 from time to time
Based. Ps3 is truly the last good console. I play black ops and dark souls from time to time on bad boy
It's neither the last console nor a good console.
Do people hack on Black Ops?
I'd buy one to make it into the perfect retrocompatible console but holy shit the morons on online stores that know about jailbreaking and modding consoles ask ridiculous prices for these black bricks
It's terrible for that.
Why? I wanna play PS1,2 and 3 games on it
I'd try finding one with the Emotion Engine or whatever
Yeah, those have stupid high failure rates. PS1 emulation on it is mediocre too.
PS1 on PS3 is unfortunately 480i, not 240p so it looks pretty terrible if you hook it up to a real CRT
PS2 > PS3 > PS4 > PS > PS5
PS2>PS>PS4>=PSP>PS3>PSVita>>PS5
The PS4 has zero games, frick off moron.
I’m using mine to play Mafia 2 and 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand
I still play every weekend. I gave my little brother the PS4 in exchange for the PS3 because of the free online.
your mom > my dick
ps3 has no games
One of those is me.
I never turned off cloud synch so it uploads my data every day at 5am. Scares the shit out of me sometimes.
Haven't played a game on it for like a year though.
I still use it to play deadliest warrior.
Threw an ssd in mine and played through 3D Dot Game Heroes earlier this year. It wasn’t very good. I plan on finally playing Trusty Bell next year.
PS3 has the best version of Jak and Daxter HD collection. Same goes for Ratchet and Clank and Devil May Cry HD collections as well.
>Microsoft using x86 already
>Wii is just an OCed Gamecube
>PS4 already jumped on the x86 bandwagon
It's the last home console, what do you expect?
The Xbox 360 used PowerPC not x86
>It's the last home console
that would be the wii u, otherwise agreed
Until the Xillia games get an HD remaster, I'm not putting away my ps3.
RPCS3 is better. Now that AMD drivers have motion frames you can play Xillia 2 at 120fps.
You mean FSR3 or that AMFM shit?
AFMF
?t=331
you gays have motion interpolation enabled on your TV as well, don't you? disgusting
Run on pc perfectly with upscaled graphics. Only x1 has slight audio issues which you can fix via the ini profile
my ps3 was on for hours a day solely for music and video content until a few years ago when i found out it eats through 80w at idle lmfao i just bought a shitty android stream box and loaded aosp on it.
Remember the meltdown Ganker had when it discovered ps3 had games?
>Remember the meltdown Ganker had when it discovered ps3 had games?
Eh, not many and neither worth a damn.
The first three years of PS3 were dire. It got much better after that. Compared to PS5 it's infinitely superior.
The PS3 was always fine. Wii was the one that struggled early on.
>ace r
>gundam uc
I hope that's just an exclusive list and not a good games list because theyre both trash. I fricking hate ace r so much that i gave it away.
Now post the 360's exclusives list.
Amusingly, the 360 really did have no games. Unless you adored the Kinect.
hey now, xbox also had brown fps game, and brown third person shoot game
360 was the way to go for multiplatform games, I tried Bayonetta on PS3 and it runs like shit.
Sadly, multithreading was some kind of esoteric knowledge back when the PS3 released.
So leave the store up
Frick Microsoft for influencing sony to make ps4/5 have paid online
Yeah we should kill Microsoft and Sony.
I am one of them.
Are you on their payroll?
nuh uh
see
>" When restoring data, your PS5 console will erase all data saved on your console."
>" When restoring data, your PS5 console will erase all data saved on your console."
If you only select specific games, doesn't that mean when you restore by that wording it will delete your other saves you still had on the console?
Yeah I remember Bayonetta save file was protected so I couldn't back it up though you can back up the ps4 remaster version
Some PS2 games like The Sims 2 Pets wouldn't let you copy from memory card to memory card
My PS3 games look like ass in my 27" monitor.
Based. Wish I still had mine, miss playing Resistance
I still use mine but never online. Won't read discs anymore but otherwise going strong, playing MGS Peace Walker currently.
>PS5 has no theme options
>PS5 got rid of PS4 communities and groups
it's a failure
I wish the newer models had fully backwards compatibility with ps1 and 2 but apparently made ps3 games suffer due to shit performance
probably more than xbox users
>20 year old console still has 2 million active users
It's sad how they fail to realize the raw power of not making people pay for online
They don't care, they want money from whales more than nothing from normal people
In 3 years, we will hear people saying PS3 is a retro console as 2026 will be its 20th anniversary.
>PS3 is almost 20 years old
what
One thing I love about the PS3 is that PS4 controllers are able to work on it as well. Either plug it in via the charging cable or setup bluetooth. It isn't perfect as you'll still need a PS3 controller to enter the XMB while in game but it's better than the PS4 not allowing you to use PS5 controllers at all.
PS5 controllers do too.
>PS5 controllers do too.
Oh shit! I just tried it and it actually does work. I had no idea, thanks anon.
if you jailbrake it you can use whatever USB controller you want and can open the XMB with the PS4/5 controller
bros, what gaems are you looking for?
I have a hacked ps3 for
>ps3/xbox only games not on pc or not remastered yet, still own some in physical
>multiplats, doing a research on games with alive online in shit like cod, watch dogs and shit for >fun
Therefore this achieves two things
>A moron falls for the scam and the game just sits on his shelf forever, he never had the intention to play but buyers remorse hits him just like the norwood hits his hairline and he will never give it away for cheaper
>A normal person interested in some game sees the insane prices and will never play the game.
I want to play ps2 games on mine but I'm too much of a coward to jailbreak it.
It wont die anytime soon because sony themselves use actual PS3's to run PS3 games over PS+ Premium
crazy to think that still with that many people playing older PS gaems on native hardware that sony still thinks its "not a huge playerbase" when it comes to supporting the emulation of said older consoles. such a horrible game company.
>sony concerned about profit margins
>Jim ryan wanted to shut down PS3 a few years ago when it had 6M active users
He'll try again eventually.
And why not? It was the last Sony system worth purchasing
If the cell had worked, then it also might have been possible as they had good BC for PS1-2 in PS3 for awhile until they axed it to cut costs since PS3 was losing gen 7.
>almost year of our lord Anno Domini 2024
>STILL assmad about based Kutaragi's proprietary design philosphy
KWAB
backwards compatibility goes wholly against Sony's current business model of just rehashing the same shit until we all die.
>Ps1-Ps5 disks can be popped in and played
doesn't make sense commercially. you 100% do not want to push people towards the second-hand market.
>performance
I'm sure they could find a way to run old games
>PS2 and PS1 should run comfortably. the hardware is really weak and they have complete access to all the documentation on both systems
>PS3 would be harder to emulate thanks to cell. And Considering how much PCs struggle with it, I doubt it's doable on console.
>PS4 and newer run on X86_64, so I assume they don't need any emulation.
The problem is they need permission to sell anything that's 3rd party because of the same israelitepyright laws corpos love to use to sue people.
I 100% do want to push people towards the second-hand market.
>I 100% do want to
enjoy paying $300 for a copy of mr. driller.
I won't be buying Mr. Driller. I already own all the past gen games I want already
Hopefully that's what the PlayStation 6 is.
>PS3, a dead console for over a decade, has more than half as many users as Series X
>And that's JUST ONLINE
Jesus Christ. No wonder there are so many seething Xbox shills investing the boards
hacked my ps3 maybe seven months ago, and it's probably the best experience I've had with a hacked console, at least in terms of how streamlined it is, with the online still functional, every game updates automatically, can download patches or non-official hacks on the console itself, so on
finished valkyria chronicles, tales of xillia 1 and 2, tales of graces f, and a bunch of little games no one cares about
gonna check out this janky white knight chronicles game, the ps3's library is a lot more expansive than I remember it being back when the console was alive and kicking
>white knight chronicles
Have that but didn't play yet, remember to play WKC 2 because apparently it also contains the first game remastered.
God, I wish I could play WKC2 online...
Almost like the meme of "no gaems" is just that, a meme.
it wasn't a meme until 2-3+ years into the life of the console
it did get better, but the meme didn't exist for nothing
grab yourself outrun online arcade and afterburner climax if you haven't already
What hack?
Is it worth converting to Playstation?
Yeah me
It has some good games that hold up today, and it was my last console as I refuse to pay for online. So why not?
It burdens my soul knowing 4/5 years after gaben dies, steam will have a monthly fee
I hate the video industry so god damn much
We are probably twenty years away from that. There's plenty of time to enjoy you current catalogue.
Then it'll also have another fee on top of that to use your own internet btw
I'm fine with that since I have long moved away from depending on Steam.
What you don't want is all your games tied to a single service (or any service for that matter).
When he dies you will have 100TB storage and all your library today you will fit in 1% of the space. It's going to be fine. There will also be plenty of vydia to enjoy, as long as you aren't one of those guys who's always seeking the latest installments.
>100tb
>1% of the space
lol
my collection so far is over 500tb and I have barely anything.
Tbqh I was thinking on my own library when I wrote that. kek
You are right. It's not enough, especially counting these 200G behemoths we got lately.
500tb is easily every game ever worth owning
I want to play warhawk and killzone and maybe a bit of uncharted MP again
man i missed how fun Warhawk's MP was, i fricking loved spinning in the VTOL jets
>have a dead fat PS3
>also a modern slim not compatible with cfw
>Hen seems likes too much effort
Honestly I'd pay to fix the fat one but the hardware is so fricking bad it will die on me again.
Ps3 controller was just the best, i much prefer the round analog sticks then the ps4 and ps5 ones.
The Ps2 one was perfect, I hate the way the left and right trigger at the back go down.
Main problems with DS2 are
>no analog triggers
>not USB
>no gyro
>one less button (if you care)
>not USB
It has.
>3rd party
might as well buy a shitty chinesium controller and emulate
>no analog triggers
kek
what part of fully analog buttons don't you get, bucko?
>every button besides start/select are analog pressure
>only four games made actual use of it in a library of 2,000
>only four games
I only know of Mad Maestro and MGS 2 and 3. What's the last one?
Star Ocean 3 required it for one specific gimmick later in the game, and the GT series used it for both steering and acceleration if for some fricking reason you disliked using the analog sticks.
The ps3 controller also had a motion sensor though I only know of two games that used it, heavenly sword, and Mirror's edge.
They should have kept the four shoulder buttons, and added triggers for your ring fingers (or middle, if you want to shift your index fingers around)
based
extra based
DS2 > DS3 > SixAxis > DS4 > DS1 > the other PS1 controllers > DualPuke
Still use mine. I wouldn't have to if Sony offered a means of playing native PS1/PS2/PS3 discs on a PS5 model, because FRICKING HELL the PS3 Slim gets warm when playing late-gen titles.
It has so much great fightan(PS2 included)
>Free Online
>Cheap physical games
I can see why.
Literally turned off my PS3 like 15 minutes ago. I still play a lot on it. Specially to wrap up some games and post game content. I'll probably start a new Tales of Graces f playthrough.
What are some PS3 games worth playing?
I'm actually playing mine right now. I hook it up once or twice a year to replay some games on my couch. It helps that it was the last good PlayStation once it finally got games.
The three main things I hated about the PS3, that Sony didn't have the foresight for:
> OS not displaying labels before the accompanying icon loads (makes crawling through a large save/music/photo list tedious)
> Hamfisting the 'ingame' OS in the 2.0 update, which was the slowest fricking thing on the planet. Should have just added friend-list/messagerr functionality to the text-only one it already had
>Console requires a hard reset if the game crashes
Actually, a fourth thing
> The HTML-based store - They had the fricking perfect store already and replaced it with a slower, crashier one with less sorting/search options
the HTML based store was literally pushed out to move people to ps4.
That’s not true? I just got a ps5 and I can see ps4 games just fine.
are PS3 games still playable online? I used to play Demons Souls and DaS1-2 on PS3 back in the day until my modded PS3 got banned on PSN. Several years ago though, I got another PS3 for five bucks at a flea market, but by that point I had never even bothered trying to go online with it. Would be nice to play Demons Souls online again though.
Depends, like 90% of them are shut down.
the most popular ones (demons souls, MGO2) have private servers up that are very easy to connect to.
that one has private servers but not sure about how you use them.
GTA 4 is still alive, so are battlefield 3 and 4
I tried GG rev2 and there were like 20 people
I still play skate 3 on mine sometimes
runs better than emulation
Yeah, I still have games on there that are actually worth playing. Too bad my disc drive doesn't work anymore.
Last Sony home console with video games available on it, so, makes sense.
yeah, im one of them
Is it easy to jailbreak ps3 and put pirated games on it? Still got one
It's still a decent movie machine that doubles as a space heater.
What online games are still playable on ps3?

how do you play AC4 online? i can't connect to ubisoft
I played Tekken 6 and Tag Tournament 2 not too long ago.

>Only option is (faulty) emulation or PSNow
You could just... buy a different PS3
Yeah, under 100 euro. What were you expecting?
Speaking of hacks the PS3 is super easy to crack with just a USB dongle. Use it to emulate those wacky Japanese games you would never put money towards. It can also act as a PS1 and PS2 emulation station but those systems are easy to emulate on anything so less people might be interested in it
got a guide? i need to play policenauts on a console conveniently

I still use mine as my dedicated bluray player, I disconnected it from the internet cause I don't want Sony to brick it with an update.
Not sure if any anons in this thread can help me, but I've been wanting to swap the CMOS battery out and to reapply some thermal paste on my softmodded PS3. Will swapping out the battery frick me over and wipe everything on my hard drive?
they fixed that years ago through an update
Any Wingman XE2 chads itt?
I have the xb2 but these are unironically great
Why isn't there BC for this yet? Do I need to kill Jim Ryan in minecraft to get it?
I'm still using mine but the wifi card has been broken since 2018
I have been compulsively buying PS3s for the past two years because I'm scared of my main one breaking.
What do you have on the PS3 that means so much to you? I like Resistance 3, Ridge Racer 7, and Time Crisis Razing Storm quite a bit but I don't know if it's worth still keeping the console around for them.
Irrationally intense nostalgia
>tfw og ps3 had the ylod
>my family thinks I'm responsible for its death
I clearly remember when it happened, that scared me so much and for years I thought I had broken it by playing too much
