What's wrong is that you can get a much better experience elsewhere for much less. WoW asked for this sub but they originally made it so endgame was another much more complex layer of progression in many other ways, therefore the sub to play was justified. FFXIV is basically not an RPG. There's not really a reason to keep playing or anything in the game that justifies its price tag.
The situation is that unless its a single player game, you won't get a game as polished and complete as 14 for that money.
You can say some gacha F2P bullshit is better but lets be real, if you unironically enjoy those games as solely a f2p player then your taste is already trash and those games eventually asks for too much of your time of simply more money.

XIV has some of the most fun co-op PvE content among theme parks. There is only a few high end duties I would say are not designed to be fun, namely DSR.

Story content is chill fun. Carrying 7 shitters through a story trial can be a real rush if you are into panic healing.

I love getting Endsinger in trial roulette. While the fight is easy, the presentation is top notch and I enjoy dodging the planet mechanic.

To this day I still think Shinryu is the magnum opus of this game's casual fight design.
Everything is just executed so perfectly - the pacing is superb with a fairly easy first phase that teaches you some of the mechanics in a safe environment, leading into a non-braindead add phase that then gets into the final phase with the bombastic music and all the mechanics you learned in phase 1 on a larger but more dangerous arena.
The final phase itself is literally perfect, the gimmick that almost every mechanic revolves around people spreading out in a fight where the arena size dwindles over time is great, not to mention the way Shinryu zips around makes it feel way more dynamic than if he just stayed in one spot the entire time like most other giant bosses.
It's also constantly throwing new shit at you one after the other with no breaks, the moment one mechanic resolves you either have another mechanic right after, a tank buster or the tail to deal with. I can think of few non-EX or savage fights that felt as good to play as Shinryu, which sucks because I think the extreme version has almost none of this stuff present, they completely neutered everything that made normal mode so satisfying.

Pandemonium would be 100x more engaging of bosses still had Eden sized hitboxes. Listening to crying meleegays was a mistake in 6.0 when they made bosses huge and was a mistake in 6.08 and 6.1 when they overtuned every melee job.
Would be 100x better if they design the fricking castlevania tier 1 like alexander again and stop using the same dancing stack spreads and groups in all bosses

WoW already does this sort of shit all the time. There's nothing about mmos that prevents combat from being designed this way, FFXIV just doesn't because the players sperg out about even 1 second of rotational downtime.

I don't think this applies to *any* MMO in a way that actually matters. "Reactive elements" or "unpredictability" in these games tend to be random or semi-random shuffling around of its AI elements which is an extremely cheap way of introducing variance in its moveset.

That formula is never coming back. The reason FFXIV is a single player, chosen one story MMO is because of WoW, which streamlined a lot of shit and focused on story ever since Wrath.
XIV 1.0 was hated because it had a lot of "oldschool" MMO shit like no auction where you had to trade with players themselves and was basically fricking crucified for it because how DARE they not do everything as convenient and easy to minmax, 100% and finish as possible?
So Realm Reborn was basically remade from ground up and they admitted they basically looked at WoW as their Holy Bible on how to make an MMO.
The difference and advantage XIV had to WoW though is that since it was from ground up, they could use the convenience as their DNA, so it was a game always intended to be casual friendly instead of a game that tried to be hardcore but had to change it identity over the years. It allowed for a lot of shit that is objectively better, like the job system replacing the need to make shitton of alts.
I wish they bothered to make BLU relevant in all content, the idea of finding and learning spells in the overworld/in specific content would be so fun (esp. considering how boring all the other jobs are).

I wouldn't really change it too much but I'd let BLU be able to use the duty finder instead of having to set up BLU parties on PF. I think waiting for the mob or boss to cast the specific spell is tedious though, and it should just give you the spell when killing it regardless of if you've waited long enough (or had to cheese the enrage like the boss in The Burn).

I don't mind that, what I do mind is that it's not a 100% spell get chance once you see it. It's already enough of a ballache to find each spell without any clue as to what the spell is, only a zone, without considering that you ALSO potentially have to get hit by the spell multiple times before you get it.
If I didn't give up and just look up the spells online I'd probably still be roaming the overworld letting myself get beaten up by monsters. Or (more likely) I would have given up after like an hour or so.
I think BLUs should be able to queue in with standard jobs honestly, they could easily do that if they fixed the levels and ranks of spells so you could only have x amount of 5*,4*, or 3* spells (similar to triple triad) and change spell levels so they're appropriate to the level of the content you're doing. Also yeah it's stupid that it's a % chance and that the BLU guide isn't useful at all for overworld mobs (it would make sense for mobs that drop BLU spells to have an icon over their head, similar to quest and Hunt Log mobs).

I suppose they are though I have yet to play around with them. Like any PVP type game, there are a lot of options, but you usually just stick to a few to get really good at them and while I jumped around, I prefer MNK the best right now.
RPR's gimmick in PVP is its Limit Break that causes all enemies in range to lose control of their characters and slowly move in the direction they were pointing when you execute it for like 2 seconds. Dancer has a similar Limit Break. It's best used in conjunction with your teammate's Limit Breaks so you can do maximum damage while your foe can't heal themselves, run away. or pop their Guard.

Sage's Limit Break pops a small AOE circle that heals your team when they stand inside of it and applies a DoT on enemies that come inside of it. Also, enemies attacking anyone inside the AOE who do NOT have the DoT do zero damage.

People are wise to SAM these days. I don't play SAM, but I'd guess your best bet is to use its LB only defensively. So, only use it when you're in trouble and trying to get away or something.

They use chiten, it's SAM defensive buff that reduce damage taken by 25%, also damage anyone who hit them, but more importantly, put a debuff on anyone that hit the SAM that make their Limitbreak Zantetsuken, eat out 100% of the enemy HP.
So all they had to do is pop Chiten, guard, everyone around him hit him stupidly, and pop limit break once guard is off to kill everyone around him.

That sucks, but on the other hand you can't really 'feel it' in anything that matters. Like I savage raid, I put in BiS as my static suggests but I can't really feel any difference in how fast the boss goes down even when getting the next tier of gear.
That's one of the worst parts of the game is the lack of feedback. Like I mentioned before, it can feel great in terms of sound effects and feedback when you nail a bunch of enemies with an AOE while in Infuriate + Bloodwhetting/Nascent Flash, but that's one of the few moves in the game that really feels like you did something.
Numbers are the shittiest way to convey attack feedback.
I mean, that's not necessarily true, the problem is XIV has had stat creep up the ass so the numbers are meaningless now.
Back in the day when the average DPS was 500 you had big damage thresholds like 1k or 10k which felt great to surpass with the most powerful skills in the game, but now even your basic auto attacks do 10k damage so it feels meaningless to see a Fire IV hit for 67,934.
That's just what happens if you have so many levels and have to balance them so there are meaningful differences between 10 levels or so.
Anyway, even if the numbers are small I dislike them as a means of telling you how well you're doing. Any game that has pop-up damage numbers I turn off, if it'll let me do it. It's lazy.
The game doesn't even tell you how much health the boss has with a numerical value, so it's not even a useful tool for that.

Not really, I'd wager if you're trying to get your money's worth and actually doing everything in the game a majority of your time is gonna be spent either in raids, messing with the crafting and gathering system or doing dungeons to level combat classes after you've exhausted every quest.
Despite how it's advertised by the people who play it the quests are a very small part of the overall package in XIV, it's just that they're the main focus when you're leveling your first few combat jobs.

WoW approaches leveling differently than XIV.
Quests aren't locked behind anything beyond your level and ability to reach their physical location on the map, so you have a plethora of ways to approach leveling your character that's not just following a particular quest chain - i.e. you can just spam dungeons until you get to max level and immediately start raiding, or if you want you can power level until you're high enough to start questing in the current expansion zones instead without doing any quests prior to that.
By contrast in XIV even if you wanted to just spam dungeons to max you'd have to do the story quests just to unlock said dungeons and then you'd still be locked out of everything until you beat the story, it's much more railroaded and less freeform.
This is the obvious truth. People somehow spin the railroading into being a good thing. Imagine new players trying to play together through this mess.
I'd say there's merits to both approaches.
Ironically I think it's apt to compare them to comics and manga.
WoW takes the comic approach where you're not really meant to read everything and just pick up the isolated stories that interest you.
XIV is a lot more like manga where it expects you to have been following from the beginning in order to understand what's going on and get the full picture.

What hot garbage. In JRPGs you're actually doing things with your party. In FFXIV you're basically walking from point A to B rinse-and-repeat for 300 hours.
There's literally no reason to not make BLU a full job. This is a fact.
They would balance the skills, which would take away a lot of the fun cheese that BLUs have access to.
All the "fun" and "cheese" is already sanitized, anon. Wow you can kill 1 pack of mobs every 2 minutes? And only if you trade 2 spells for it that is less dmg to the boss? Wow. SE just dont care about dungeons anyway. They already revamped all the old ones to be super easy and corridor-like.
Considering that many of the spells mostly boil down to "deals 200-220 potency of damage and 50% less to nearby enemies" with a specific element and a gimmick there's not much to balance around, really.

Alexander ultimately was a machine and the Tycoon is a magitek recreation of Alexander Prime. It's not impossible to recreate a primal's abilities with machinery, magitek, or even just being such an excellent mage that you scrape the end of a primal's raw affinity for their element. There's multiple fire wizards like Saurtovoir that can use Eruption, a spell from Ifrit, for example.
Mimicking an elemental magic spell and recreating fully functional time travel seems to be like apples and oranges though.
Even more so considering there was nothing to reverse engineer since Alexander went poof.

A century or two is a pretty damn long time to single-mindedly focus on recreation of a primal's abilities, and they had Omega's help.
Please correct me if wrong about this, but also in our timeline why is there no Emet? In Graha's timeline, why isn't their a Zenos? If we saved that timeline, does it really affect our timeline that we're in? This confuses me on many levels, but I just discount the game being for 16 year olds and wanna turn off my brain at some point.
WoL won at the Ghimlyt Dark in G'raha's timeline, and Zenos is insanely skilled, but isn't as powerful without his body.
Graha's timeline is the exact same as ours up until the end of Stormblood, where Garlameld was successful in releasing Black Rose.
Graha's timeline has a Zenos and an Emet. In fact Emet was successful in the 8th calamity and rejoined the First.
Graha's actions only effected our timeline. There's no indication his was saved or changed at all.

We stopped the release of Black Rose in our timeline, and Graha got to adventure with us. So it all worked out in the end.

It's true that stormblood being shit and zenos being shit are two different things, but they're closely linked. Stormblood Zenos could have potentially been a good character but he wasn't, so they wrung what was left of him into an ok character for EW

What the frick are you even saying? Both Emet and Zenos exist in both timelines, the doomed timeline is the exact same as the one the game follows except for the part where you pass out in front of Elidibus in Zenos's body due to the Exarch pulling your soul away and Estinien has to rescue you.
The timeline stuff is confusing but at the end of the day there's a pretty simple solution - it's a stable time loop, G'raha's time travel shenanigans happen every time even if he himself comes from an alternate timeline.

SB in particular feels like it had to condense two expansions into one so they could have an expansion dedicated to the shitty filler First content, it just so happened to be so much better written than the Source stuff that nobody cared that it was filler for most of it.

PvP GNB is a pretty good harrier job and can weave in and out of combat. Continuation lets you get some sneaky kill-confirms with the extra attack and being able to mimic an enemy role for a themed ability makes you versatile. You're not the best at anything but you're another good frontliner and you can heal a little bit *in a pinch,* do some tanking with a slightly worse Holy Sheltron *in a pinch,* or get in a heavy hit *in a pinch.* Assuming of course the enemy team is composed of appropriate jobs for you to copy.

Less than half of the healers I encounter will bother to cleanse removable debuffs, unless it's Doom or something.
Make healer remember they're not dps. Make all damage not scripted, more things to esuna, i know ma6be resistances and weakness would not work but make the fcking game more interactive between the members other than reduct the dmg taken or increased by a %. Hell people hate the pacification meme but it was an interaction between jobs.
