Nominations are now open for the 2023 GankerGAs! Come celebrate the best and worst in vidya this year. You are also able to tell us if an award is shit, and suggest less shitty ones yourself :^ )
Feel free to discuss this year's games below.

Do you part and don't let the games you don't like get the final spots.
Why ? Rankings and awards are pretty meaningless on the industry.
Where is Zelda
don't tell me ganondorf took her again
hopefully in the trash where it belongs
sobbing in the corner after losing to Baldur's Gate
When does the voting start?
As soon as nomination ends.
Hey OP are all the nominations for 2023 only? Only a few awards explicitly say 2023 in it
Unless specified, it's this year's. The only ones we add "of this year" are for Least Worst and Most Hated because they are the main two awards.
assume 2023 only unless it says a different year, all time, or nominate whatever, we don't give a frick
Water is the ultimate choice for the calvinball award, btw
Of course you don't give a frick i don't either but the idea is to try and get something that makes some sense so we can keep getting these VGA
I need suggestions for 2023 eroges
The mainstay awards near the top are always for current year. The weird shit at bottom usually has to be specified (2023/all time/etc)
Flipwitch came out this year, but I only know that one because of steam. Rance also came out, but I don't need to tell Ganker anything about a rance game
Flipwitch has no e-girls. All the flat characters are traps
I'm done with my nominations but some of the my awards lack shit
>Rance also came out
So Rance wins by name recognition like every other year there was a Rance release
May as well just retire the award at this point
>a game is popular therefore I don't like it
kojima had this problem he just had to stop making trailers and we were good
The eroge award has a small, but dedicated following in the show. They got a proper run last year, so they'd rather keep the award around anyways, so they always have a chance on the next year.
>They got a proper run last year
Last year there wasn't a Rance release. And the winner was a scene viewer with no gameplay.
Shit, we did it to ourselves then. Why the frick didn't we nominate it in 2014?
Anon, I'm going to level with you. You have expectations from the average Ganker user that you won't be satisfied with. It's like visual novel award last year, the average Ganker goer doesn't have that deep of knowledge of niche genres like these. Unless you are willing to shill the games you think are worthy the nominations and votes for the next threads, there's not much else you or we can do short of rigging, which we don't do. We let Ganker deal with their own picks one way or the other.
Take the award as a list of interesting games that managed to even catch the attention of the more surface level person that comes to Ganker. If you really want to get a more precise poll/voting, you can always do it yourself, like many other people have done here for best game of the year or the king/queen threads.
Gakuen Abaddon... IS WHAT I WOULD SAY IF THESE FRICKERS WOULD GET OFF THEIR ASSES AND RELEASE IT
Everyone's gonna forget about Destiny 2 but it deserves to be mocked and scorned at every chance especially this year
We do have a "best layoffs" award this year. Also the usual "Crimes against gaming"
Don't forget to vote for
Halo 2 is the best game this year
Did I miss another Master Chief Collection?
No, but it is 2004.
The situation is so bad that I don't think I've played any games that released this year.
Best soundtrack too. Halo 2 wins, this can end now.
There's no big elden ring release, which leaves the door open for interesting races in theory. Zelda ToTK was really popular for like a minute, which is intriguing because I'm not sure how much people enjoyed it outside of hot polycule action and gmod. The gameplay seemed like a carbon copy of BotW

>best RPGmaker game
Is it even a contest?
>Some shit I've never heard of
versus
>Hylics
>OFF
>Lisa: The Painful
and even your bog-standard horror-themed walking simulators like
>Yume Nikki (as well as the fangames 2kki and .flow)
>The Witch's House
>Ib
>OneShot
>To the Moon
>>OFF
>>Lisa: The Painful
dare I say it? TRA-
Kirby Warrior RPG 2.
GET FUKT.
I nominate this
Use the website, not the thread.
>not 2
Cum on, man.
No.
>Baldur's Gate 3 (PS5)
This tickles my autism. Who the frick plays a fricking CRPG on a console?
You did anon
In the same way the XCOM reboot was playable on console. Not very well at all.
Funny, too, because the XCOM reboot was originally designed for console and the mouse controls SUCKED UTTER SHIT at launch
I dunno. I found it easy enough to play on KB+M, except for when you had to walk up and down stairs or any non-obvious elevation. It was a fricking nightmare.
It was a shitshow on launch. The cursor kept getting caught on doors/obstacles/etc but they fixed it pretty quick
Remember- keep the videos a good mix and balance between autistic gamer rage and funny
Ok
You're getting a sappy story about a group of spiky-haired teens killing god with the power of friendship and you're going to like it
Anon, you can always submit some skits or videos, to keep the mood just as you like it.
I don’t have any friends or talent 🙁
that hasn't stopped us
We are accepting AI generated skits this year, anon. Even a loser like you can write down prompts, right?
thoughts on this award suggestion?
Best game of the vga awards?
The problem with that is that games can win multiple awards, including both positive and negative ones
GTA Trilogy was worst winner? Of a negative award? So are we rubbing the salt in further, or saying it wasn't deserved?
Cyberpunk won multiple negative awards, but it's since improved. So "Worst winner" in the sense that it redeemed itself, or none of the updates matter, it's still on our mind and it still sucks?
Undertale won both best soundtrack and worst fanbase. It was the worst winner, but why?
Elden Ring won 6 awards last year. If it gets in, are we saying it was overhyped, or it took up too much room and kept something better from winning a specific award like Best Soundtrack?
as I worded it, it'd just be for GOTY winners. it could include the retro GOTYs as well
>implying Metal Gear Solid wouldn't win AGAIN anyways
>Award for technical blunder
>No award for moronic devs
crimes against gaming?
That award is full of nominations
Does this count as a new twist on jet set radio?
damn, that's a good question
No, dumbass.
Yes, dumbass.
Maybe, dumbass
I don't know, dumbass.
Can you repeat the question, dumbass?
You don't have to repeat the question. Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is a new IP, so it's not a IP twist. We counted Elden Ring as a new IP and we will count Bomb Rush as a new IP too.
YOU'RE NOT THE BOSS OF ME NOW, dumbass.
It's not so big, from an indie studio, so it's probably a new IP as opposed to a twist
Okay, so the stinkers this year are Forspoken, Redfall, Gollum, The Day Before, that King Kong game... what else? I know I'm forgetting some trashfires.
Dead Space
Spiderfridge
Many ESG indies
Street Fighter 6
What's wrong with Street Fighter 6? Pretty much everyone loves that game.
Modern controls
Driver bar and super bar
ESG
It's like a SF4.5. If you like close ups when you use your super you can enjoy this ESG slop
but it's NOT on the epic games store, it's on Steam as well
>Environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) is a set of considerations, including environmental issues, social issues and corporate governance that can be considered in investing.
>In the 1960s and 1970s, Milton Friedman, in direct response to the prevailing mood of philanthropy, argued that social responsibility adversely affects a firm's financial performance and that regulation and interference from "big government" will always damage the macro economy.
>In the early 2000s, the success of Moskowitz's list and its impact on companies' ease of recruitment and brand reputation began to challenge the historical assumptions regarding the financial effect of ESG factors
>In 2005, the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative commissioned a report from the international law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer on the interpretation of the law with respect to investors and ESG issues.
>This follows the publication in September 2015 of Fiduciary Duty in the 21st Century by the PRI, UNEP FI, UNEP Inquiry and UN Global Compact.[26] The report concluded that "Failing to consider all long-term investment value drivers, including ESG issues, is a failure of fiduciary duty".
>During the COVID-19 Pandemic, BlackRock, Fidelity, and Amundi among other asset management companies, placed pressure on pharmaceutical companies in which they had a large stake in to cooperate with each other. [31]
In 2023 Vanguard distanced itself from ESG investing as its CEO states that it's not compatible with its fiduciary duties to the investors. Fewer than 1 in 7 of their active equity managers outperformed the broad market in any five-year period and none of them relied exclusively on a net-zero investment methodology.
>ESG has been adopted throughout the United States financial industry to describe and measure the sustainability and societal impact of a company or business.
>the US military is a prime example of races and genders working well together
Oh jesus, I completely forgot about the Dead Space Remake.
Yeah, that counts, without a doubt.
starfield
Skullgirls
Skullgirls deserved to be in the layoff award
Censorship or actual gameplay frickups?
iirc they redrew a number of the sprites to remove the pantyshots. After looking it up, they also toned down some of the historical themes and violence
https://www.techradar.com/gaming/skullgirls-has-received-a-cosmetic-update-and-fans-are-displeased
Oh right. Why did Ahad making them not!nazis to begin with? What a dumbass, lol.
>Build a large dedicated fanbase of degenerates off of things you made that you know to be degenerate
>Try to erase and abandon that past when you no longer find it convenient
Very sad, many such cases
i played 4 games released in 2023. im such a gamer
List them.
>people posting nominees of Mega Man X
lol, morons.
This is cringe and moronic.
>Mobile user
Look, you brought that upon yourself.
You need to use a computer Jamal
Please nominate Tevi. I love her so much.
For what, worst follow up? Worst art?
>worst follow up
I liked it more than Rabi Ribi. Eat my ass.
>nobody talking about persona 5 tactica
GOOD.
It's trash but there are bigger offenders
Thank you for reminding me to nominate that busted-ass naruto game with the AI voice acting for technical blunder
Frick Bamco for a never-ending stream of turds like this being released but EXVS is trapped in some stinky arcades on their little island.
Can I get bombergirl if you get EXVS?
You first
Everyone knows armored core 6 will win
Ganker does like From Soft games. There's always a chance.
Don't forget about your 93 games
Are we gonna make a statement on the palestinian genocide?
Who?
4x game mostly played by the USA government body
Service game with a lot of useless bloated updates
Not a video game
Skyroads needs to be in the conversation for best of 93. It's free and fully playable in current year. Don't worry about the dating sim from a few years ago. It's not real and it can't hurt you
>2023 isn't even over
this ideally shouldn't happen until half way through next year
We have enough trouble getting people to remember games now, forget about next April
just saying it's moronic to have the games voted on before most people have even played more than 2 of them
It's also moronic to sell halloween merchandise in August, but the market 'will bear it' and if you don't keep up with the zeitgeist you'll lose the attention of the public when you finally catch up with what everybody else is doing
I don't disagree you, mind, but good luck getting anyone excited about the games of 2023 in June of 2024
the bracket bracketgay boomer is apparently coming back to do 2023 goty next year so I guess we'll see.
But you're not wrong yourself. People have the attention span of a fly these days. I blame social media.
I remember that guy!
His threads were some of the best salt on Ganker
What were some good characters this year?
Frey (Forspoken)
Do you choose the bad character for the Scrappy Doo? I leave it open since games like Forspoken have no redeeming qualities
GOTY coming thru
Jackie Chan will win the Calvinball Award
there's only one proper winner for calvinball
and it's water
Like a Dragon Gaiden is looking good for Best Representation of Men. What about women? What's a good waifu series this year with plot and backstory? and don't say Fire Emblem
Fire emble- DRAGON QUEST MONSTERS: THE DARK PRINCE
Picks for visual passion award, besides Gollum?
Kong: Skull Island and Mortal Kombat 1 (the switch port looks fricking terrible)
There wasnt any good games this year almost at all.
There were good games, there just wasn't an exceptional standout with massive appeal
>Baldur's Gate 3
>Story-heavy CRPG
>Armored Core 6
>Niche genre, being FROMsoft won't bail them out this time
>Super Mario Wonder
>A new and interesting 2d mario about 15 years too late, switch exclusive
>Tears of the kingdom
>BotW with a bunch of builder stuff tacked on, switch exclusive
>Pizza tower
>Indie as frick
Every game has it's flaws, and there is no objectively best game which makes for an exciting year. So, what is Ganker's favorite game?
Hi-Fi Rush and Dredge were pretty good too.
And Rogue Trader is good so far.
Anons, dont forget to nominate the best game of the year 2003: Warcraft 3: TFT
Wheres Coffin?
The most pointless controversy.
Early Access, doesn't qualify this year
Though the controversy certainly happened this year
I hope I win goty
Don't worry mate, I'll vote for you.
I put Spider-Man 2 for everything bad
nominating baldur's gay 3 for most homosexual game of the year
