Snake doesn't even make the top 10 tqbh
>Big Boss
Not a hero. His autism about "muh Boss" nearly destroyed humanity >Big Medic
Basically a non-character. He is (You) >Solid
One of the only good MGS characters with a great arc from MGS1 through MGS2
Raiden perfectly exemplifies what Kojima tried to do with MGSV with Venom while also embodying and inheriting the spirit of Big Boss's vision of soldiers in a never-ending warzone. He's not tied down to any kind of genetic destiny that the Les Enfants Terribles were cursed with and he's had plenty of opportunity to abandon the life of a soldier, but instead dives headfirst back into the battlefield (MGS2, post-MGS2, MGS4, MGR) because Big Boss was right. Just some random dude with passing tangential similarities to Solid Snake.
That's the most ironic part of MGSV. He already did that character story before and better with Raiden. As cliche as it would have been he really should have just given us a Big Boss goes completely bad game all about his downfall.
Venom's fatal flaw is his apparent disinterest in absolutely anything. Where Raiden openly complains and cries about his predicament to his codec cast, Venom... doesn't even say anything for the most part, even the player doesn't know what he's thinking. There's some exception of course with things like Paz and Quiet but those scenes just come off as awkward more than anything. Hell, "awkward" is probably a good word to use to describe him.
His reaction to his own game's plot twist was essentially, "yeah ok whatever".
>man in skull mask occasionally in your periphery >you turn to look at him >nothing there >annoying sidekick shakalakalkaska will not shut the frick up >met a guy who drowned his wife and thinks your dog is a wolf >miller is ranting about fiddles again >male to female cheeseburgers
I'd go mute too tbqh
but he doesn't know that until like 5 minutes before Solid Snake caps his ass so as far as he was concerned he is Big Boss for all intensive purposes
and he didn't sound all too bothered by it

[...] >plot is so stupid that the self-insert character is incapable of verbalizing anything, just like how the player is feeling playing through the game
bravo kojima
It's Kojimas fault. He hired a fricking big budget VA he couldn't afford.
Voice actors aren't paid by the amount of words they have to say. Kojima just fell for the silent protagonist trope where it doesn't fit the MGS games.
I've read before that they recorded a lot of lines for Venom, but at some point during development Kojima watched the new Mad Max and thought "damn I should make my guy autistic too" and then he told the team to get rid of the recordings
It's honestly worse than that. It's not just that he did the character story before and better with Raiden, it's that Big Boss's monologue at the reveal betrays the entire point of swapping Snake with Raiden for MGS2 in the first place. The whole point was to slap the player across the face and tell them "You're not Solid Snake, Solid Snake is too cool to be controlled by you, know your place and play this clown", but Big Boss wouldn't shut up about how you, yes YOU, are Big Boss now. All it was missing was him turning to the camera and winking at you.
>He's not tied down to any kind of genetic destiny
He kind of is when you think about it. His skills as a child soldier and being a child soldier at all launched his entire life. He can never abandon that life because it's all he knows and he's quite fricked up. I think depending how you look at it Raiden has it even worse than the rest. His story is pretty dreary. I love MGS2 Raiden though, I think he's a great character and never found him whiney or anything like that. His response and questioning of what's happened does sort of fit, but might be a bit off base too for a lifelong soldier. You'd think at that point they would know to follow all orders without question.
Absolutely zero of what you said contracts the fact that Raiden is not tied down to any kind of genetic destiny. All that proves is that he's tied down to a memetic destiny, you know, the meme (rimshot) word of MGS2.
The Snakes are bound to their destiny by nature. Raiden is bound to this same destiny by nurture.
Snake and raiden honestly. Raiden got tossed into some shit way above his pay grade and came out ahead. He was being guided along, but he could’ve died at absolutely any time, but he came through. Raiden doesn’t get enough credit at all as one the protags.
Venom because he was dealt the worst hand and played it well anyway. Mostly silent protagonist, has alot of character as an obviously miserable but tough guy. He isnt an in your face protagonist, if the other snakes shut the frick up for a second and just let their actions speak for themselves theyd be better off.
I guess the protagonist that just never stops explaining himself and everything appeals to the crowd of people who need everything explained, so there was a purpose for it. Personally, never cared for the metal gear long winded soliloquys explaining geopolitics with an eternally confused protatonist asking "huh? What? Thats impossible! No!" Etc.
Venom is also a dumb fricker that gets played harder than either Big Boss and Solid Snake: Solid gets used by Big Boss and kills him in return, Big Boss gets used by the gubmint and creates MSF in return and then Outer Haven. Venom gets used by Big Boss and then holds the line until Solid kills him in the end - he's a mess and subby little piggy.
The one that canonically beat all the other ones? Also Big Boss reveled in war and tragedy, Solid was unwillingly cast unto it and only tried to solve problems.
Solid >good guy who is just merely bad minded
Big Boss >pure evil
Venom >good guy forced to do evil things by a israeliteed Big Boss
There, literally, summed it up.
Aww poor widdle venom forced by the big meanie to kidnap others and make nukes. Little baby is being taken advantage. Its not as if he HAD ANY WILLPOWER or was capable of deciding things FOR HIMSELF!. You know, as any other 50 year old!

not good bait, I'd recommend putting rose closer to the bottom to make it more believable,
>Doesn't parrot npc opinion so it can't be legitmate.
Ok dumbfrick he’s obviously talking about playable characters
The Che Guevara fanboy

Not a hero. His autism about "muh Boss" nearly destroyed humanity

solid snake.
Solid snake is an incel
Solid and Big Boss are good at different things but Solid is the hero of the series.
snake and it isn't even close
Medic was the only one with a good heart.
Correct me if I am wrong. I know one is big boss (The last game and MG3), the other is solid snake (metal gear 1 and 4). Who is the third?
Venom Snake. Previously a medic for BB in MSF (Peace Walker) turned into BB's doppelganger
God Venom was such a homosexual. No wonder they used him like they did

Raiden wasn't brainwashed to think that he's literally Solid Snake. What Venom experiences is much worse.
but he doesn't know that until like 5 minutes before Solid Snake caps his ass so as far as he was concerned he is Big Boss for all intensive purposes

MGSV is not a happy ending
MGS2 is
that's the difference

It's arguable and the topic is a rabbit hole. My point that they're all tied to similar fates.
Snake and raiden honestly. Raiden got tossed into some shit way above his pay grade and came out ahead. He was being guided along, but he could’ve died at absolutely any time, but he came through. Raiden doesn’t get enough credit at all as one the protags.
I miss the Bowie one, it was better than meme man
Venom because he got the worst deal but still played his part until the end
He got a great deal wtf are you talking about? I swear venom fanboys say this shit because of his name only
I like Solid Snake the best.
Venom, no name medic somehow surpasses the original and the future clones.
Venom gets absolutely killed by Solid in Metal Gear.
Raiden
Solid and Ocelot are tied for best
Venom because he was dealt the worst hand and played it well anyway. Mostly silent protagonist, has alot of character as an obviously miserable but tough guy. He isnt an in your face protagonist, if the other snakes shut the frick up for a second and just let their actions speak for themselves theyd be better off.

Which snake canonically kills?
Solidus
Big boss is the best looking one
The one that canonically beat all the other ones? Also Big Boss reveled in war and tragedy, Solid was unwillingly cast unto it and only tried to solve problems.
Imagine if mgs5 wasn't incomplete mess, what's happened here in this gif that made him so emotional
At first I was debating between Snake and Snake, but ultimately I have to give it to Snake
My tier list:
>Snake
>Snake?
>Snaaaaake!
Solid is no hero, never was, never will be, he's just an old killer hired to do some wet work.
Solid
>good guy who is just merely bad minded
Big Boss
>pure evil
Venom
>good guy forced to do evil things by a israeliteed Big Boss
There, literally, summed it up.
when did BiBo do evil things
big boss wasn't evil he was just massively autistic
Aww poor widdle venom forced by the big meanie to kidnap others and make nukes. Little baby is being taken advantage. Its not as if he HAD ANY WILLPOWER or was capable of deciding things FOR HIMSELF!. You know, as any other 50 year old!
Big Boss>Solid>
Don't care, would have hot gay sex with all three of them.
