I like fighting monsters. I played XIV for like 20 hours and basically just ran back and forth between cat girls doing fetch quests, and watched cutscenes. You spend your time doing the story for 200-300 hours and you have pretty much unlimited access to all activities in the game. Korean MMO? Grind fifty alts and play the game religiously for 1000+ hours and maybe get the foot in the door. WoW? Grind fifty activities, install add-ons, level 10 alts in case your main isn't the right choice for Mythic for the privilege of getting your foot in the door.

I still don't understand why Balmung's the issue. Balmung got locked down for a full year, no new characters could be made or even transferred onto it. Hell, Balmung even has a clean Limsa compared to a lot of other Crystal servers.

Previously, and hell even during the cutscene directly after Elpis, Venat is shown to have genuine concerns with the continuing Zodiark plan. We see her committing to summoning Hydaelyn as a last resort after genuinely trying to get them to understand that they need to move on, and that trying to deny the reality of the situation is what ultimately led them there in the first place. But with WoL's part in the Elpis segment, and with the lyrics of Flow backing it up, the actual truth is that Venat dedicated herself to the Hydaelyn plan before anything even happened solely because she was just absolutely fricking obsessed with WoL for some reason.

Grind fifty activities, install add-ons, level 10 alts in case your main isn't the right choice for Mythic for the privilege of getting your foot in the door.

The ability for belief and emotions to affect the aether, and especially as a major component in magic, has been part of the lore since 1.0. It's the entire basis for primal summoning even.

I swear why 90% of the people who shit on EW lavosgays and hydaelynbad gays. There is legitimate criticisms of EW like pacing (but if you ask me pacing has always been xiv's weak spot) and the final days only taking place in 2 zones.
I'm neither one of those and I think the big problem with EW is the entire Elpis zone introducing all sorts of stupid bullshit to the story that even ruins Venat's motivations.

Previously, and hell even during the cutscene directly after Elpis, Venat is shown to have genuine concerns with the continuing Zodiark plan. We see her committing to summoning Hydaelyn as a last resort after genuinely trying to get them to understand that they need to move on, and that trying to deny the reality of the situation is what ultimately led them there in the first place. But with WoL's part in the Elpis segment, and with the lyrics of Flow backing it up, the actual truth is that Venat dedicated herself to the Hydaelyn plan before anything even happened solely because she was just absolutely fricking obsessed with WoL for some reason.
It's not her fault. The entire universe literally revolves around the WoL.

She didn't WANT to do any of that though, the point is that it was a necessary evil. The same scene shows you how much she hates the suffering she's cause and how badly it's fricked her up.

With WoL's involvement in everything, Venat isn't hesitantly setting out on a path she believes is right because she believes it's right. She's doing it because (You) have already told her that she's going to do it, and she's so obsessed with you that she just accepts it as the outcome and waits for you to be born like a lost puppy.
But she didn't commit herself to that plan or else she wouldn't have tried to concince the ancients and just sundered their asses but she didn't and tried to save her people first and final resorted to sundering when they were about to go past the point of no return.
That's the fricking problem, anon. That scene contradicts the other shit we're shown during Elpis. Any genuine attempt to try and convince them is made moot by Venat already knowing exactly how it's going to turn out. She went into that situation already knowing she wouldn't convince them and would summon Hydaelyn.
That would make sense if multiple timelines weren't know to be possible by the fact that G'raha didn't dissipate after we save the first and that the eighth calamity timeline still trucking along.
