It's insane to me that they failed on Eureka Orthos this hard when it is by far the easiest type of content produce. Worse in every way than both PotD and HoH. No one even uses it for leveling because its so shit.
The sad part is EO would be insanely easy to fix. Reduce the HP of all the mobs on floor 1-30 by 50%, then scale back the reduction each set until you hit floor 70 where it can be the same it is now.
Why can I go into EO floor 1, do the entire dark knight opener and only barely kill the first mob when when I go into HoH Floor 1, the first mob dies in 3 gcds.
The fanservice raids, Ultimates and Eureka saved Stormblood. In the other hand, EW made me abandon my 10 years account.

Personally always liked this idea. I enjoy the notion of working towards a big fricking boom ability that you get to unleash and LB3 isn't exactly it to me. I think a lot of people wouldn't like it, though.
But it's why I like Stardiver. It's a far shot from being that super explosive, super powerful personal finishing move, but it feels a bit like it.

The removal of Tank DPS stance is really dumb.
I feel like the obvious answer to get people to use both stances is simply put out damage that required the defense stance, and make MT dipping into damage stance part of the skill of learning a fight.
It would also help the OT player a lot when the devs forget to design 2 tank mechanics like they still do to this day.

I really don't know why Ganker has such a hate boner for this man in particular. I assume it's PC babies butt hurt over FF XVI but it is taking on meme proportions. Saw the guy at the FF XVI panel at PAX East, seemed like a pretty chill, funny and humble guy and while FF XVI has tons of problems like a bland open world and shitty quests, it's really not that bad overall. Certainly better than any other FF related project from the past decade aside from maybe Strangers.
Don't forget a terrible story and skill system, honestly the game has a base moveset and music exclusively going for it. The only FF related project I'd say it is better than is maybe 15 and Dissidia NT, and that last one is more because of the corpse it masqueraded as.

The Bahamut fight, Find the Flame and main battle theme are all top tier music tracks though.

FFs strength was never a single ost that is ok/good like the battle theme. It was the huge variety and how every ost had high quality. If i went by just the Battle theme then FF would lose to other franchises easily like Grandia 2 for me. FF8 was the peak in terms of music due to that as well, even FF13 got that. FF15 and 16 just straight up sucked for me in terms of music.

I thought the skill system was pretty fun to play around with. I feel like the biggest complaint about that is people who looked up a guide or saw a post about the best combination of abilities and then just used those the entire game and complained about lack of variety.
Story is subjective, but I thought it was serviceable. Didn't mind the GoT influence as much as a lot of people did. The characters are what really kept it afloat for me though. Making Joshua, Jill and Clive's relationships the focal point of the whole story was nice. I grew to really like all 3 of them.
They were using sexual tension "will they wont they" after a 6 year time skip for a 30 year old man. The villains were all cartoonishly evil to an absurd level, I think by memory Garuda was the closest to a character, but the mother is embarrassing. The story suffers from the same issues as 14 with stopping and starting constantly, "you want my help? help 3 of my friends and I'll give you your 14th badge to show you're okay." The inside of Clives cape would of ended up looking like a fricking scouts sash. That 2nd time skip though is probably the most pointless time skip I've seen in media with the only real consequence is they have a new base. It's also just hard to talk about the story without all it's attached quest design issues, but that's another can of worms that nobody disagrees with them being bad.

Absolutely untrue. Grouping basic enemies up with the Phoenix rush ability, then building up Zantetsu while they're all stunned and finishing them off with the Ultimate was a pretty common rotation for me. Most basic enemies don't even need a full meter, you can finish them off with a level 2 or 3. Same goes for Bahamut Megaflare, though that one I didn't like versus basic enemies as much since you have to dodge to build meter so it's way more passive and I liked to be more active.
Impulse is unlocked before Zan and that absolutely trivializes mooks. Not counting all of the other tools you already have, like Satellite, Wykes, Wicked Wheel, Upheaval, etc.
Even in stuff like the Stonhyrr mission where they spam the frick out of miniboss class enemies, the only time I ever used Zan was against Behemoth and Ultima because everything else died with minimal effort.
The issue is those nobles are hardly characters usually too. She has the depth of a fire emblem villain except she isn't around for a chapter but a constant throughout the game. She has no sympathetic traits she is just a perfect example of an evil person to a level that almost falls into parody. She was way too much of a story focus to end up with the characterisation she had.

How do they get fricked over exactly? Like yeah, Clive is the main character, but all the secondary characters still get their own sidequests and arcs throughout the story. It didn't feel as static to me as XV, where the characters disappeared, had 0 impact on the narrative and then popped up again only when they were relevant to the story. Even when XVI's characters weren't with you, they were still doing stuff in the world, giving the narrative a sense of movement.
yeah, they get their own side quests at the end of the game and only one if you're not blackthorn or a town representative, even in that case, i was very annoyed how most of the towns quests concluded (looking at you dalimmil), the only good one was boklad

the only time i remember them accomplishing something is saving some bigshots in ran'dellah and even that is iffy since it was just used as a plot device to get the other party to stonhyrr (except they didn't get to do anything there anyways)
I was mainly talking about the main, "party," members (that being Jill, Joshua, Dion and to a much lesser extent Gav). And Joshua taking several years to find the name of an elusive God figure that has destroyed most traces of his existence aside from really spread our and hard to reach ruins isn't that odd for me. But that's all during the time skip anyway. When we're reintroduced to Joshua, he's traveling to Dion to enlist his help, taking charge of his secret Phoenix Illuminati organization and keeping tabs on Clive. There's many cut scenes of him doing stuff that drives the plot forward. Same goes for Dion when he goes MIA.
I can understand I'd you don't find it particularly interesting or engaging, that's personal preference, but the characters in XVI do exist beyond the main character unlike XV (without paying extra for DLC's)

Both games aren't great combat but the rating system and depth the fights get if you really want to push them with the late game side content is pretty good, but for most it's pretty static and nothing.
Both have pretty good endings, though 15 has Tabata's one trick and it's probably the weakest of the others, granted I haven't played 3rd birthday but I can take a stab at what its ending might be.

I never played KMMOs so I can't speak on them, but most MMOs pre-WoW did not have instanced dungeons or raids. Which made dungeons feel like a part of the world, rather than another chore on the bucket list to tick off.

In the main game yeah, but in FF14 you get deep dungeons, criterions, and ultimates. And FF16 just added Kairos Gate which is the biggest ballbuster in the FF series, by a wide margin.

I am a WoWrat, but tbh I just didn’t play any mmos from like 2013-2020. I felt like playing one during lockdown, and WoW had become completely unrecognizable to me. Good days WoW and current Xiv appeal to different things, and it took me a while ti stop being bummed at the ways xiv is worse than when WoW was good, but it has its own charms that grow on you. Raiding is much more fun in xiv; in WoW it was mostly doing logistics on 40 subhumans so they can all be present during the same 2 hour window and not frick up the most baby mechanics imaginable. Xiv is 8 people and more about playing your class than herding 40 minimum wage stoners across a finish line.

Cloud didn't physically teleport and get the materia to give to Aerith, he was hanging out on Barret's shoulder that whole time in reality. But you do see him go through the Lifestream mind tunnel thingy from the original game in the meantime. And pic related is the sky rift you see in the Zack scenes.

It's just the Cloud Lifestream segment from the original but expanded to the memories of other people. And Sephiroth has control of some of the jannies so the Lifestream is losing grip on what actually happened and what the dead are imagining happened or what they wish had happened. Which lines up pretty well with Cloud's whole story.
It doesn't matter if you consider them memories or timelines or alternate worlds, the fact is that they do affect the real/prime world and things carry over, such as the white materia.

The problem with Rebirth is that story-wise, it did nothing good.
It coasts on an already beloved story, and every narrative change and decision made for Rebirth is for the worse. You just repackaged FFVII but worse, with fancy cutscenes and a shitload of padding and filler.
ARR and HW were the only good eras for combat because it felt like they were at least trying to find their position in the MMO sphere but then FF fans and ERP enthusiasts complained so hard they turned a 180 and made a non-MMO DDR simulator which is just tragic. people aren’t ready for the lecture though and just love to keep pretending the game is in a better state battle content wise(it isn’t) experimentation breeds innovation and unsurprisingly the game hasn’t innovated since 3.0. god i miss coils and alexander pre-nerf
