Ramen and Catasaurus are S+, especially if you crit+ on catasaurus with NP.
I made the list depending on each unit's usefulness during early/mid game (mostly ITF and CotC) that's why Sanzo, Wheel and Cattelite are so high (it's also because pretty much every meatshield but jangshi are very useful lol)
And while it's true that Necrodancer especially shines in boss battles, I hardly found myself using him over Sanzo (only against mecha bun bun pretty much), the only reason he's so high instead of B (Niche) is the cheap research combo
Gonna be real I see everyone talking about how good Cameraman cat is but it seems so underwhelming because its damage is so low. It seems like in pretty much every situation Courier is better. Maybe that's just because courier is a broken piece of shit though.
cameraman needs to stack and you need it super boosted.
It has high stackable AoE dps, it only drawbacks are speed and mid range and it can be spammed as a meatshield with research combos
Courier is so hilariously broken that PONOS made other eggs meh tier (except cactus, but holy shit it is hard to get)
It is a more cost effective and tanky cyborg.
Cyborg has same damage, more range, but not more traits.
I think that cyborg is on par with cameraman. Cameraman wins in cost efficiency but there's lots of stages where you have enough money for it to not matter. Cyborg excels on those stages due to her very short cooldown. And cameraman's 250 range means she struggles on some stages that cyborg (350 range) thrives on.
Chill's main use is in stages that spam swarms of high health aliens. It's fragile and its range is poor but it performs its role of high damage alien specialist area attacker. Miter is great and more widely useful but only single target + struggles on mixed stages due to relying on resistant ability.
Frick Sanzo! I know he is good but I never use him.
I wish I could remove talents. When they first came out I put a single level of knockback on Chill Cat which really fricks it.

Surfer cat was a key super rare that I couldn't get until recently and had already finished ITF3 before it was available on any track.

Didn't include the seasonals and advent units, you shouldn't be worrying about those until you get out of early game (which is more or less when you get the crazed cats and can finish into the future).
Only included courier as egg unit, the others are lower than low priority. Courier is basically a low cost uber-rare.
Also worth saying that mercat and commando are bad, and you should use Salon/cyborg instead until TF.
Rocker, Wushu, Rover, Salon are all useful before TF

Been on JP for a bit, but yeah it's new on EN.
Not the worst cat in the world. Costs the same as Weedwacker cat with the CD of Shigong cat, can outrange the majority of Zombies, but has terrible HP to the point it'll get oneshot by most things. Compared to Housewife you have a worse slow and dps but are far more spammable and only lose range on 2 enemies.
Soulstrike is the main draw, since while its dps is so shit you're not killing anything they also won't run past and get sprung on, so when something revives they're guaranteed to be slowed and won't annihilate your backline.
For a Special cat you get a pretty decent deal, but unless you're short on anti-Zombies there's not much reason to use it.
Mostly agree. I'd swap Sanzo with Necrodancer, floating is mostly a boss trait which you want disabled rather than just slowed. Also swap Maxim (one of the highest HP/Cost ratios vs non-Reds) with Chill (ineffective vs 3/4 the Aliens in the game)
Chill is extremely overrated, I've had nothing but bad experiences with it. I have both chill and mitre at roughly 50+25 and I'd use mitre over that piece of shit any day.
I thought the same thing about cameraman until he hit level 50+ and hes and absolute beast once talented. Once you get the feel for it you wont look back.

Thanks it looks like I'm not going to be able to get it with how my guarenteeds are lining up. I can get Sarukani right away and I probably will, but I've already got a lot of anti-zombie ubers so it feels a little wasteful even though it's a good improvement.
I really need something good against aku but the best it looks like I can get is Hevijak. Sparrow looks kind of meh since it's yet another anti-aku that doesn't do anything about shields.

I started tracking as soon as I started playing.
My first Uber wasn't anything special, Mighty Drednot, but that first x11 allowed me to know all my future pulls and let me manipulate my seed into all the stuff I want.
The majority of your rare tickets will come from cat ticket conversions.
Once you max out the cat ticket base orbs the excess turns into (1/5th) rare tickets.
Track your seed. Store up cat food so you have an 11 pull ready.
Early in the game your moving through empire of cats and the first few stories of legend. Then you can be smacking super metal hippoe for cat tickets.
Its a weird curve, theres frick all early game, you'll seem to always have loads mid game then late game it sort of dries up but somehow remains consistent enough to always have 2k-3k banked for guaranteed rolls, and thats without watching ads. Use your first 11 pull get your seed.
You get 30 catfood midgame for finishing SoL chapters at each star level. That's 120cf if you finish stars 1 through 4 and the earliest SoL chapters are doable before finishing EoC3.
That's 1200cf from ten chapters plus gatamoto and other sources.
Endgame your not blowing through content very fast and so you're not getting the 30cf rewards as often.

jizo and momotaro are pretty much the highlight of Ultra souls but the rest of the units is also very good
it's all up to you if you want to continue but unless you are seeding, expect some dupes

How good is Iz and Kasli (traited versions), just peeking at rolls and found out they're pretty near for me.

great damage dealer to traited once boosted. she dies quick but she has a quick respawn time so it's easy to spam her. however she can get killed rather easily in some stages and her damage output is ass against traitless, so you'll need to plan ahead before using her on certain stages.

decent damage and crowd control with her surges and knockbacks. though it can be detrimental if you're facing a powerful enemy backliner and a surge proc knocks it and the peons back, making your backliners walk straight into a nuke. try to avoid using her if you're facing a lot of strong enemies that hit from afar. if you want to take control of a lot of stages, pair her with miko mitama and her slow against traited.

Is it really worth talenting Sanzo as much as people say? I've heard people talking like it's the absolute first talent you need to unlock, but I think I made him redundant because I had Mitama since the start of the game and I just unlocked Kintaro too. Should I still talent him?
the only mandatory talent is target angels, everything else is just for a bigger reliability
though if you have mitama you probably don't need him at all lol
Mitama is already one of the strongest carries in the entire game especially because it makes most cc units redundant.
That being said, you'll still want talented Sanzo for certain angel bosses in stages that disable your mitama.
The REALLY invaluable talent that I suggest you to pick up ASAP is double money on can can cat, and maybe some levels in speed up too.
The angel boar is a pain in the ass and sanzo make it easy, mainly for 4 crowns, also you completely need Sanzo for A cyclone. Mitama slow isn't enough for those 2 enemies.

Dark Iz is overrated, ton of abilities but short range, multihit, long ass animation make her die easily. She is also do medicore job as shield breaker. The most dangerous enemy in Aku realm is bear and she just get killed after broke the shield 1 or 2 times while lvl 39 talented Kai 1 shot it with ease. Jack of all trades, master of none

Fallen Bear is on its right most obnoxious enemy to shield break and with Kai you must waste frick ton of NP for situational at best talent in order to be reliable, and even then your timing must be lucky or nearly 4k cash will go down the drain

The 100% Surge chance gives her more range for the Shield Piercing which is something she desperately needed, since she can now strip the shields from approaching threats so long as she has a stepping stone, while also effectively doubling her damage if it procs nearby (alone she shaves off 16% of a Fallen Bear's HP). Her ehp jumps up to ~130k vs Aku/Angel which is quite sturdy for a non-frontliner. Oh, and just by putting her TF on the top row you get the Forbidden Formulation 1-cat combo of "Cat Cannon Charge Up [Sm]" which is an easy way to minimize your CD.
Idk about you but she seems like the best anti-Aku Uber out there and is a decent anti-Angel generalist too.
Oh, it's actually 100%? Then that's not as terrible. Her lack of Surge immunity is still pretty restricting, but I guess the HP compensates.
Month-old noob here, I'd like to thank the anon who suggested I wait for a guaranteed banner before using my noob multipull. I got a bunch of units that'll go great against types I'm currently struggling with. Now it's just a question of farming enough exp to get them up to snuff.
I don't have any ubers and i dont plan to seed because i think that kind of takes the fun out of things.

the new dragon fish is very good although the banner itself is kind of underpowered

Yulala TF seems like a pretty big upgrade, compared to Superfeline he's got 3.5x the CD and only a bit more dps, but is also far cheaper to raise and has more range to work with. Also means he finally has a niche unlike before.

How the FRICK am I supposed to clear Aguham without cat god? I have none of the lil'cats because fricking ponos hasn't given a single lucky capsule event since I started playing months ago
I did it with this utterly moronic lineup, so.. uh, these units and levels I guess.

You can use Moneko + crazed Moneko and Haniwa for meatshield replacements + Riceball cat. Then you pretty much need a good Bahumut hit to kill everything.
Step 1: Stall the Shiba alien to build up funds (Just spamming Gato amigo + Haniwa should work, usually I get my worker cat up to level 4 or 4)
Step 2: When the Shiba alien inevitably dies, only send Gato Amigos until your units hit the enemy base. The goal is to get BOTH star pengs lined up, then have them advance towards the base.
Step 3: When the star pengs get very close to your base, spam out your meat shields and then summon Bahaumut, he should destroy the Pengs and Shibas. Keep spamming Riceball cats because you need them to bait out the Solar's attack.
Step 4: Hopefully Bahaumut should break the Solar's shield. Then afterwards you should be able to beat the stage by spamming Lil legs, Ururunn or some other ranged attacker. You may want Lion cloth to break the barrier just in case or for CotC 2.
So I'm looking at my seed rn still new to this and checking the upcoming uberfest event and i just wanna know if im right.
ied get satoru on my next pull and then ied get fortune teller but because i already have Fortune would it count as a dupe and switch to track b? and then because i have neither tin nor wushu it would continue along B until i get mitama on my 5th ticket right?
you only switch tracks if you have consecutive rare dupes from a banner while pulling. so if 3A had both fortune teller cat and mer-cat in the box, you would pull mer-cat and switch over to track B and end up on 5B. but since you're going from Satoru > fortune teller > mer-cat without any consecutive rare dupes, you would stay on track A. you can see how this works in this screenshot at 25B and 26B. because of the consecutive rare dupes, the game gives me bishop cat instead of another witch cat, then switches me over to track A on 28.
I still dont really get it especially since i already have mer cat and fortune teller maybe im just stupid i guess ill just do what it tells me and click on whatever i get

the seed tracker doesn't count dupes of rares you already have, just the rares on the track that are listed in each box. since you're already at 1A, you wouldn't be able to switch tracks to 5B in time, even with a guaranteed pull.
Plat ticket is the next 4 rolls to force a track shift is the only only way to get that 5B Mitama. Unlucky, she is a busted unit too.
You're incorrect, theres no such thing as a plat ticket track shift, at most, you can use a plat ticket to SKIP a track switch

I just ask because whenever I see people talking about farming materials usually they're talking about Story of Legends and not stuff like Strait of Wings.

Im up to date with the last set of stages and never spent a penny, I almost feel bad, maybe someday i'll cash in something. I even play uberless, they really aint needed, however, tracking your seed is great, if you are a collector like me.

kamukura is meh, you can treat him like a more expensive crazed bahamut with red cc
ganglion is pretty good, you'll need to be aware of his blindspot since he has both ld and high speed, but he has enough hp and damage to make it worthwhile

Can someone give me the rundown on orbs? Sounds like attack orbs are completely worthless and defense orbs are the only ones I should be caring about from what I've read.

Got Baby Gao and Ganglion. I've heard people say good things about both but are they useful heading into UL?
Baby Gao is good anywhere you would use Cyborg Cat, except for having a longer recharge time. Base stats are better and strong against buffs him up further, which makes him good for stages where you don't have as much money to throw around. You usually want to toss out a meatshield in front of him anyways since he does get knockbacked fairly easily but like a lot of the Ultra Souls he's a great "Rare as an Uber" cat. Evolved form costs a lot so it's not good for stages that starve you on cash, but it's a solid bruiser and wave immune is good if you can't wave shield everyone.
UL might wreck a lot of this since curse takes away his damage and defense, but at least in evolved form his has decent range to avoid getting cursed.
Can't say much on Ganglion though.
Turning around the question, I just got a free plat and I have both forms of Iz lined up on the plat track and I'm wondering which I should get. I'm leaning towards Dance of Grief since it does more unique things that aren't covered by generalist or specialist cats (I already have D'ark though so the massive damage isn't one of those) but I'm wondering what people think about the two in comparison.
I'm afraid I can't say much about either Iz, but looking on paper I would opt for Grief. Better base stats and a whole lot of immunities mean that Grief is better (I would imagine that regular Iz gets buttfricked by curse a lot in UL).
Curse immunity does give her utility against traitless in UL that D'ark doesn't have, and she's a more disposable rusher either way from what I've read on the wiki. Plus some utility against Aku that I don't really have yet, with pierce and surge immunity. Thanks for the advice, I think I just needed a little push in that direction.

Chronos can be pulled from Almighties basically anytime. Definitely go with D'ark.
D'ark it is, then. Already got all crazed and manics, but hopefully he'll come in handy for the second Clan of the Maniacs stage next month.
Always go for Fest exclusives if you can. D'ark is a really good one to get too, he tears through traitless and his LR attack is useful enough on its own that I have him almost permanently on my general lineup. Crazed/Manic stages become a joke if you haven't already done them.

well you probably don't need a beginner's guide since the game has a fairly gentle difficulty curve. but as far as gacha goes, if you want to get the most bang for your buck you should spend your rare tickets on uberfest or epicfest, preferably epicfest since it has the better exclusive ubers, all of the fest exclusives are good though.
as for catfood, try to avoid using it on continues unless it's an important stage and you know you'll win if you use it. wait for a sale before buying powerups or equip slots. buyable special cats also go on sale sometimes, but much less frequently, so it's up to you if you want to wait.
oh and you probably want to know about seed tracking. it's an exploit that let's you know exactly what you're going to pull, and you can use it to manipulate the gacha. in fact, the exploit is even more powerful when combined with guaranteed draws. it's kind of confusing but just read the instructions on the site carefully, if you still don't understand there are some anons here who i'm sure will be willing to help.
always wait for a guarantee to spend catfood on gacha. we just had some so it might be a while til we get more, but trust me it's worth it.
oh and ONE MORE THING... some good banners to draw from are the almighties and ultra souls, they have some of the best ubers in the game like amaterasu, aphrodite, and kasa jizo. huh, i guess i had more to say in a "beginner's guide" than i thought... other anons, feel free to chime in with your thoughts on who the most top tier cats are

you don't need to spend to get gacha units, they drip feed you tickets and catfood over time and as you progress. clear facing danger whenever it appears, once you've gotten enough silver tickets they start converting into gold tickets
you'll get some new free non-gacha units after each empire of cats subchapter, but you don't get the really good stuff until you get a decent way into stories of legend
if you mean gacha units, then there are some ways you can get the resources for them, but they're mostly time-limited. by far the most 'grindable' resource is rare tickets, which you can get from cat tickets, which drop from facing danger/siege of hippoe/cat ticket chance stages that appear on a regular basis. apart from that, it's mostly a matter of waiting around and accumulating your catfood/rare tickets/platinum tickets from whatever the game gives you.
Track your seed. Some people consider it cheating - They'll also be the same people that drop the game when they inevitably get walled. I can't imagine playing this game without tracking. It gets spastically difficult without very specific units for certain stages. If you track, you can collect your waifu trash to your hearts content, for free. It will still take hundreds of hours, I have just shy of 700 hours playtime and still havent completed all the content or collected anywhere near all the units.

Go here, then roll some units in-game (more is more accurate, usually need 7 or 8 to know your seed precisely), and input them in the same order you got them.
The system will process and then spit out your seed. Roll 1 more time to make sure it's actually your seed (unless you did like an x11, these are 100% accurate). If it's not your seed, go back and add the new roll, then seek again.
Once you have your seed, you will know every drop you will ever get (system's a bit jank to figure out at first, but very reliable once you know how it works).
To explain: BC runs off of a seed system, so you never actually roll anything when you pull from the Gacha, you just progress down a predetermined list of rarity slots with the exact contents being determined by the banner that's up at the time.
Tracking your seed tells you what is in each slot. So while it doesn't give you any more high-value cats faster than you'd otherwise get, it does let you show some discretion and avoid dupes of Ubers before those become useful (lategame you can recycle them for important currency but early on you want to build your army).
Being able to track makes the game feel less like a gacha, which is to its benefit I think. I've spent a solid chunk of money on it specifically because it would let me get something I knew I wanted, something I just don't bother with in truly random gachas because I don't like gambling.
You have to first draw 10 cats from the gacha blind, and then once you've got them and written them down in order you can go to the tracking site and input them to get your seed. As long as you keep it, and update it to what the tracking site shows you after you make further pulls, you'll never have to pull blind again.

If you get to 1% in something like crazed wall cat stage it would be stupid to not spend 30 cat food and get the free win. It even gives you back the food as first clear bonus.

don't be afraid to spawn low cost units, in fact the basic strategy for most stages all the way up to endgame is to spam a bunch of $75 cats/$150 walls so that they take the hits while your long range attackers stay safe
don't neglect treasures, wait until a treasure festival comes around and farm as much as you can. don't be afraid to farm for superior treasures, eventually you will want all superiors. the game has an ingame calendar (menu -> events) where you can see when these festivals happen
get ninja cat, he costs catfood but will carry you through the early game. he's also somewhat useful later on for some decent catcombos
Anyone got any tips to get gamatoto helpers? I''ve been sitting on the same lineup of 6 gold + 4 silver for fricking months and only had a couple of bronzes pass by in the meantime, if even that. Should I fire these silver fricks shitting up my lineup to try and force some new recruits to spawn?
they spawn more often if you have 5 engineers and the only way to increase your gamatoto helpers is by doing 1 hour expeditions
I might still fire those silvers to show potential recruits I run a no nonsense organisation. Maybe that will dissuade the riff-raff from handing in their resumes.

Surfer is 100% worth it, it's a staple anti-alien cat and will save you a lot of headache in many stages. Don't worry too much about waifus, there's plenty of banners with them and you'll collect them easier once you get to the point where you're farming tickets.
I can't say much about the new brainwashed, it's ability isn't very good but if you need a rusher for timed stages and you don't have many others it can help.

I'm biased by what I have but I'd say Nanaho. Gaia is raw damage but from the reports I've gotten you have to fight with her a bit to line enemies up with her damage zone. Nanaho is a multitool who works for just about anything, but works better for her specialties. She has a bunch of piercing range which is great for clearing peons and hitting backliners, and 50% crit on a multihit means she shreds metal enemies like crazy. Zombie killer isn't that big but it does mean she can be included in anti-zombie lineups as a reliable critter for the stages that mix metal/zombie.
How is the new user experience in this game? Can a new player finish the old story mode and join the veteran rank in a month or less?

No, but while the grind is pretty long, it's not super hard. You also get plenty of Energy restores just from playing, so if you ever want to binge play, you can. The worst part for a new player is the very start, cause of just how little Energy you have to work with. It gets significantly better after the first hours of a new account.

Merciless XP is a scam to steal people's radar. They should make it a no continues stage to hammer in the point and make sure everyone avoids this trash.
Why are you using radars on xp stages? I mean I guess you could if you're pretty confident you've got most rewards units and have finished your treasure grind. Otherwise just use xp ups like a normal person.

Because their only other use is getting reward units and I still have 28 even after hard-farming coliseum when I returned to the game.
The drop rates for most units are high enough, and the energy costs for the stages are low enough, that for most Advent stages it's not worth popping one for. Legend units sort of are since their rate is only 3% or something but most of the time you might as well just grab the extra XP.
I use radars on the enigma ticket stages, the max ticket drop (3 or 4) is only a 10% rate, so I think it's worthwhile if you have excess radars
you could also make the argument for using radars to get .7 extra tickets from facing danger, although I'm not sure if that's really worth it in comparison

I just finished the new empress reports - but I had lv50 jizo, lv50 courier, lv75 ramen, thauma weakening, momoco freezing, octo blocking and I still couldnt kill the motherfricker before the second one came out. Just beated 1st try in the catamin stage using rich cat only, because I didn't drop catway cat because lmao no treasure radars.
Manic lion is at 20, maglev is at 30, jizo is at 34 but lower level works too. You can replace le fish with any gigahomie uber that can kill the gory squads.
Spam ramen, time lion/maglev/jizo to enter the blindspot. When the gory spawn you gotta "reset", which means stop spamming and wait for them to push away from the boss (and horse), then start spamming again using the uber of your choice to clear a path.
When you have cannon, it's time to use bahamuth. Time it to make him enter the blindspot without getting hit, then after he does one attack use the cannon to stagger the boss, so bahamuth can do a second attack. If you are lucky, the horse is also going to knockback your bahamuth while clionel is attacking, making him "dodge" and giving you a third, maybe even a fourth attack.
Tl/dr spam rushers and ramen, reset when gorys spawn, use cannon+baha for burst. Rich cat makes the stage extremely more manageable. Do not do this without maglev and lion, it's just going to be pain. Add in more uber rushers, if you have them.

Without manic eraser the wild doges are hard to deal with. Wild doges are the main problem, any anti-traitless is very important.
Keep in mind that the red birb is immune to slow and freeze.

Most people will use Cyberpunk and Sniper as it ensures that Uril is distanced, but the actual way to beat Uril without gacha units is well-timed Awakened Bahamut and Idi chains using said CC units. You can use Bullet Train Cat and Superfeline(believe if you want to) for sniping off peons in tight spots. Closeup stalling is not the way at all.
Jr.Jagando is the best carry for this stage if you don't have epic fest, close range tend to trigger uril attack so I used hyper max slapstick to tank and clear peons.

floor 49 is more about bringing in the strongest, fastest units and spamming them all than any actual strategy since the stage gives you so much cash. units that work well are advents like the anti traitlesses, maglev, boulder, etc, fast units like fishman, manic lion, and manic mohawk, shield blockers/immune like octopus or gold cat, and of course any epicfest exclusives

Ok I can confirm that now aguham is beatable at a decent winrate without items or cat god, by using the event insects at level 30ish.

>Second line: bugs, loincloth, baha, and something else, I had samba but didn't use it
Level:
>Only spawn 1 loincloth, hopefully it can solo the sheep, if your rng is bad spawn more loincloth and bugs, but you should be building up your wallet and saving up now
>Stall the shibalien, the bugs have trash attack, build up money but don't level up the wallet
>When the shibalien dies, start spawning the bugs, but always make sure you have enough for baha
>When the boss spawns, use breakerblast to break the sheep's barrier
>Stall the enemies using bugs at best you can. Still save the money for bahamuth
>Spawn bahamuth when the two pengs are synchronized and there is a sonewhat stable flux of bugs coming out from your base
>Hopefully, baha+meatshields will be enough to kill the pengs
>Once pengs die, use the money you got to spawn loincloth and break the elephant's barrier. The bugs should be enough to kill it

How the frick do I beat Wrath of Carnage. I'm all the way in Uncanny legends and I still can't beat this stage. The wiki's strategy is useless because I'm pretty sure it expects me to have my normal cats and thunderbolt cannon at double their level.

I actually just beat it now by brute forcing my way through with ubers and hyper maxing the dumb summer event beetle, yeah seriously that thing.
I lost a few attempts though just because the stupid R.OST double crit my entire stack of ubers at the same time, whoever decided that R.OST should be able to crit should be arrested.
Easiest way without uber is using tourist cat > abraham 1 hit > freeze canon >2nd hit then spam meat shield + ururun.
4 meatshield + A baha + Ururun + tourist cat+ roe+courier. Replace Ururun with any uber that can deal better dmg to trait less.

I was able to beat it with only level 30 seal or so the first time it showed up, but I also used op units like wave blocker miku, both kaslis, and mitama. If you have a bunch of wave immunes, spamming them could be a viable strategy.

Are you a new player? Then you should do at least one guaranteed pull on the dynamites banner just so you have a decent uber and you can track your seed if you write down what you get, then use your tracked seed to see what galaxy girls you can get. If you aren't new then you should have a better idea of what kind of draws would help you more than anyone else here.
waiting for galaxy gals isn't a bad idea, it's got some crappy and mediocre units but also some pretty good ones too. i'd recommend not rolling on it immediately though since we should get some new event data by then and there's a chance ponos could put something in like guaranteed almighties after it

getting all treasures (especially the alien ones) is probably the best thing you can do. if you had trouble with the nimoy bore on floating continent, try to get tf psychocat or surfer since he'll keep showing up and those units will help out a lot against him
trying to get any treasure on ITF is a pain in the ass for me. And it takes forever to see a treasure festival
Check the calendar, if you haven't been doing that already. Festivals actually happen pretty often (the entire day once every two days, or 1 hour every day) once you know when they happen.
I'm in the same boat, I've been doing events, and also trying to farm catfruits and behemoth stones while I wait for Festivals I can only reliably farm the second stages on Growing maps and Gapra, but I'm slowly getting there. RIP Ghost Guests or whatever though, didn't even get near the enemy base on the first one.
Also collecting Leaderships. Sat down last week and completed most of the daily stages, now I'm getting the daily blitzes which means six more Leaderships. The Aliens on today's one sure took me by surprise though.

Getting Dancer + Weightlifter up to 30 are the two main ones. Swimmer cat can also be pretty good since he's fast since some levels desperately need rushers, but he sort of gets out classed by Courier in most situations.
Also don't bother spending cat food on the special cats until there's a sale. Most of them are total garbage without heavy investment or are only good later when you desperately need them for combos or special only stages. The only one that can be worth getting early is Boogie cat and that's just so you have another cheap meatshield to spam for early game bosses.

I said she was good and people didn't believe me. 100% pierce is already useful, pair that with a goddamn Surge and suddenly wow Aku are a complete joke.
When maxed Dancer cat has double the HP and dps of a Mushroom cat, while also having +40 range and a big spike in damage with Surge procs. On maps where you're short on cash (or vs Angels) Mushroom may be a bit better but in all other cases you'll get more value out of individual Dancers.
Being the first, people had serious doubts and honestly, prior to TF, her meh range drags her down hard. But the Surge does totally fix that.
Not to mention that huge increase in HP, now she can actually tank some damage to deliver the pierce.
I will never get tired of seeing fallen bears getting wombo combo'd by the initial hit and the subsequent surge

What kinds of stages are you talking about? Some stages can be heavy on RNG (crits, freeze/slow procs, etc.) or timing.
Third Gapra and the first stage on the next Behemoth map (Ashkenazi Desert or whatever) are the biggest pain in my dick right now. I'm not sure if I even managed to reach the enemy base once since defeating them.

Cat Cactus is the most optimal choice for aku meatshield, and he's damn good at it but getting to him can be a bit of a challenge.
Aside from that, talented(immune to surge) gato amigo and bellydancers are really your only choice.
Bellydancers is also good, but say goodbye to your wallet when using it

Epicfest is probably your best bet
Increased uber chance and most of the epicfest exclusives are great generalists or straight up busted
Dynastyfest also has increased uberchance but the uber lineup for that banner is.... questionable

Cute, but it's impossible to clear levels this late into the game without at least knowing what the enemy line up is.
It's not even the fact that the enemies are bullshit, it's how little cash stages give now that force you to be as efficient as possible.

can't weigh in on mekako but I'd go with yoshimoto unless you already have some other good snipers. hayabusa is one of the best critters and also has decent cc in his other forms + shield breaker, but I think he's more of a luxury unless you've been getting really unlucky with anti-alien ccs

Emperor cat looks stronger, but with Mitama + Aphrodite and Chronos I'm wondering if he might be redundant. Kyosaka is apparently considered really good though.
