They all basically boil down to slamming your head against a wall that kills all of your cats that happen to be in range until it dies, so they all suck.
I have another Legend Rare slot coming up in 28 pulls time. I already have most of them, only missing Legeluga and colabs.
Should I wait and hope for the Street Fighter colab to return, or get Legeluga when next available?

Depending on how many gold tickets you have, and I guess if you still have the "first" time pull discounts saved, you could potentially be able to get to that 128th spot in time for the collab, since you are only 17 CFs short of going to 55, which is over 40% of the way.
From what I checked, the difference between Jap and ENG versions was two and a half months, so if this time it started mid-September for Japan, you could potentially have time until December.
So here's what I think: wait for the next news about the upcoming banners, and if the SFV Collab isn't on the list, go for Legaluga. Unless there's no banner with him either, in which case just hoard until the next banner-news-drop after that, and by then you should hopefully have enough juice to get both Luga and Akuma regardless of which one comes first. 128 spots means 17550 CFs if you're using only those - but again, there's also gold tickets to take into account.

Yup. Its shit. This was my lineup. Top row was just for max research up. I remember it was mostly a combination of high levels (at absolute minimum lv40) some fricky timing with the first duck (iirc let it hit the base once then 1hko with cadaver) then a lot of retries, wasting powerups and swearing. I ranted many times here about this stage. Holy blast did FRICK ALL becuase I'm not an austist that can add up damage on the fly to get the kill like the c**ts on youtube do. You've really got to time those high level cadavers and sneak a couple through.
high level holy blast + cannon charge combos works pretty well though. no timing needed, just stall as hard as you can and use the cannon whenever it's not on cooldown

I got all the limited rewards I could on the last one, and got as far on the challenge stage as I could've, so I ignored it for the last week or so - until I remembered yesterday evening that most of them had hi-score rewards on double/triple crown and shit, so I scrambled do get as much as I could. And after oversleeping today I nevertheless managed to squeeze in three more in the last five minutes.
Still, lesson learned for this new one.
I'm nowhere close challenging Merciless difficulties, but since we're on the topic of fighting zombies, what units should I look forward to? I've got Gardener and that f2p roadkill Cat out of the cheap ones, and Ganglion to sweep once I can afford it, but when it comes to mid-price I only really have Jameira Cat, and even then it's mostly to deal with all the other typings that might show up.
Shigong and housewife are absolutely key anti zombie units. Shigong is your main meatshield/tank, and housewife is just a great midranger with zombie kill. Don't sleep on ectoweight for knockbacks either. Gardener can occasionally save your ass but is very unreliable. Cadaverbear is mvp but it takes a frickton of work to get him. Island & manic island are surprisingly good for early game when you dont have many anti zombie units.

This is the only baron where I have to use Rich Cats for consistent farming. Without it, the first celeboodle + tackey is a test of RNG for clearing the run.
Damn, I don't know if it was the addition of Courier Cat or if I finally learned how to teambuild right, but the Hunter 1 Enigma stage was a cakewalk this time.

I made a list of Catfruits I need to trueform all the units I want, and I've been using the FruitFest to get an early start on the Yellow ones. I've farmed 7 of them so far, not counting seeds and a few tries with no reward, and I have yet to get either an Epic drop or a Jubilee continuation.
Obviously I'm only writing about this to invoke the "if you complain about it, it will change" rule.
if you can get decently far in heavenly tower which is coming up soon, it'll give you a load of easy seeds/fruit
What I'm really missing are Epic Catfruits, and the wiki compares the level that drops them to a 9-star difficulty map. The problem is, I'm only now getting to the point I can pass 8-stars consistently. But, we'll see.
I would personally not trust the star difficulties too much. sugar struggle only goes up to 7-star, but the last stage on 4* is ridiculously difficult even by 4* standards. try looking up video guides and seeing what loadouts people beat the stages with. many of them are really old, so you might find them to be more accessible than you expect.

If you're early game, I honestly wouldn't worry about grinding materials. As you progress through SoL and start completing higher difficulties, you'll accumulate them necessary. Besides, you're pretty far away from stages where the cannon matters (Z-Onel, Floor 43, CoTC, etc.) - or I assume at least.

I tried my kasli so many times man, she'd get a good juggle with the surge but always end up in puffys rebound range no matter what blockers I threw in front of her, so I could only get 3 sets of juggles and she was out. I stupidly thought I didnt have enough aku fruit for tf gold, turns out I had a shitload of seeds. I only realised this after I finally beat floor 50. Fml.

I used the same Balrog trick as normal floor 40 to get him low then used Idi, Catman, and Slime to finish him off. A pretty challenging and fun stage overall.

Ebisu and shadow gao together carried me through probably more than half the game. A stack of 3+ ebisus is where he really shines. I still use him in xp stages. Chronos pretty much retires him, but hes still one of my favorite units.
I refuse to believe it was intended for people to beat floor 50 without cheesing, lmao what the frick? Nothing penetrates that surge, even if you are using weaken, and shadow gao is not freezing at all.
I know, its bullshit hey. I used healer cheese, I had to, there was no other option. Every surge immune unit gets absolutley fricked on. I would like to see ponos official strategy or the methods the testers used to beat the stage.
I heard Jagando was supposed to be great for the floor but he never worked for me so I just went with Luffy, Cyberpunk, and Sniper.
Ive cleared it with cameraman cat spam with slapstick cats in the past but permaslowing Uril is much easier.

It's such an irritating enemy sub-class, high knockback count ensures your heavy backliners miss all their hits, and a cyborg stack works great until a Kurosawah appears and melts all your shit. God damn.
This. All the xp stages are Black, so get your anti-black team in check. Also try to get Freshman Cat Jobs for automatic xp up, and farm Cat Jobs the item on Wednesdays (although you need an anti-Red team for that one). Stacking these will net you a 165% bonus.
And then there's the proving grounds. The easiest difficulty drops 750k in total, while in the medium one you get that much just for the second-to-last round (2.7M in total). The last one gives you Catseyes, so whatever.
on top of what's been mentioned, the monthly quests are a good way to get xp. 10m+ xp if you go all the way, but that will most likely require you to have finished a good chunk of 4* sol which is probably too far off for you
Speaking of XP farming, I thought that with Bombercat I could finally get through Merciless XP, but I guess I'm still missing raw power. I guess it's time to start using Catseyes if I want to go beyond what I can do now.

vega is an ok anti-metal if you can keep enemies out of his blindspot
balrog is good just to start off zombie stages since he's cheap, but his cooldown means you usually only get to send one out
chun li is like a ranged demon cat with faster attacks and kb. she's ok but is a bit situational
ryu and bison are decent backliners
blanka is great, basically yukimura but for aliens. in exchange for a little damage and speed, you get more hp and omnistrike
all the other ubers aren't really much to speak of

You have to wait for them to appear, although destroying the base counts as long as they're on screen.
I forgot this board was a thing and thought this game just didn't get any kind of discussion on the site. I'm thinking of getting that legend ticket, so should I go for Miko Mitama or Kasli? I don't own any fest ubers and these 2 and dartanyan seem to be the best in the game
Both are really good. Mitama can hard carry a ton of stages and can let you progress through the game much faster, but she sucks on advent bosses typically.
Kasli is really strong statwise but her curse isn't very helpful for most of the game. It does however let her blow up certain advent bosses and turns many fights into an easy win.
If you're struggling with a lot of advent bosses go for Kasli. If you're struggling progressing through CotC, ItF, SoL, etc then get Mitama (Unless if your problem is R.OST, in which case you want D'artnyan
Looks like the dupe pull is gonna put me on track B which will skip Kasli but go straight for Miko on the legend ticket banner so that's what I'm getting I guess. Iz and both Gaos are on the way there too but if I'm spending shekels I might as well grab the best thing the game has to offer

best are the heavenly tower and catfruit buffets but regular catfruit stages usually suffice

at the end of each catfruit stage (highest chance on the highest difficulty), you have a chance of getting a bonus stage with every enemy variant + kory that yields an extra catfruit, usually an epic one
there's also a growing epic stage but that's way too far into late game
There's also a chance for an Epic Fruit to drop during regular Growing stages. And there's a guaranteed Jubilee stage at the end of Buffet.
As for Growing Epic - what the other anon by "late game" is that it is on;y unlocked after you beat the first stage of Uncanny Legends, which are unlocked after you beat all Stories of Legend.

Should I bother with Kintaro if I already have Daliasan? Kins true form seems outclassed outside cost and speed, though the basic form seems like a more offensive Sanzo
kintaro also gets some stuff that daliasan doesn't have like curse, slightly more uptime on slow (or at least it feels that way), and that first form. but yeah, outside of those it's hard to think of a situation where I'd use kintaro over daliasan.

I don't own either, but I would go for Saki. Although she takes some skill to use properly, Saki has a high performance ceiling and better niches than Luke (who has shield pierce and savage blow ... at 10 and 5% respectively).

The enemy. Black with fast, far-reaching area attacks. He clears all my units that are within his range in one hit, knocking back the ones that are strong enough to survive it, and is ready with another one by the time the units that were far enough to survive come near. The wiki practically says "if you don't have these specific units, just use treasure radar on the easier stage". The only chance to permafreeze him is by stacking freeze up and speed up combos. How is that a nine start difficulty map?

Now I remember why I stopped playing this game, CotC2. Just managed to beat it with absolute RNG that I can't replicate, A.Bahamut got warped to safety by the enemy. Managed to beat that fricking stage, forgot I didn't put on Treasure Cat, but luckily got the treasure anyway.

For stages that don't have that "no continue" on the stage name you can just close the app and reopen to restart the stage if you accidentally screw up

How often do stages require multiple attempts later on in the game? With some measured usage of Shadow Gao and frequent wiki consultations I've been able to avoid costly defeats thus far. There are quite a few accounts of people taking ten or fifteen goes at more difficult stages, so I'm wondering if that's exclusive to moronic wiki commenters or it can actually happen to real people too. Asking because I don't have the temperament to endure a good shafting by some unseen RNG mechanic.
No, at much harder stages this is a given, although I rarely had to (due to some busted cats and carefully picking strategy before stage) some can be so much bullshit that can frick you up if your strategy is off for 10 seconds, for example that rushdown stage with croakley, Loris, sir rels and two m. osts being huge pain in ass that I had to retake multiple times despite having competent line-up
About unseen RNG, unfortunately, some stages’ difficulty is determined RNG spawns of enemies, either being manageable or downright hellish to beat
About the rewards that rely on RNG, cat treasures are prime example of this bullshit: not worthy enough to waste treasure radar on, but costing enough energy to make a dent on your leaderships should you take multiple attempts and being so infrequent it will practically force you to retake stages
Sorry for pseudo-rant, but I remember some load and loads of pain I took before I rose to rank above 10000 I am today

I didn't want to invest in target Relic talents on Vars or Rodeo Cat so soon
Rodeo was pretty much the first relic typing I used to access the rest of the game, just treat it like a one off np investment to unwall yourself. Ebisu is also a lifesaver in those early stages past relic bun bun.

This SF collab has been real good to me. Not in the pulling sense, since I'm yet to do that, but thanks to the abundance of "New Challenger" stages I've finally reached over 100 leaderships. And because they drop EXP as well, I was finally able to get to the point where I can level up my Crazed units to lvl. 30.

These stages are meant for very late game players correct? I've done a couple while I was in late SoL and even the first stage was already pretty tough so I haven't really touched them since
yeah, the enemies get buffed to hell and back as as you go up to level 20. even the easier ones like seal and angel (with curse) will run you over without good units
if you have the patience for it, it's still worthwhile to give it a shot even if you don't expect to go all the way since you get some ok rewards

For reference, the Ch1 Outbreak Aliens in that stage are 20% stranger than the Ch2 regular Aliens, same stage. So if you can beat Mertoz Ch2 easily, Outbreak should be doable.
I did beat Ch2 Mertoz, but don't remember if it was done "easily". I have one single clear with a gold treasure dropped through sheer luck, and I remember that happening only on stages I wanted to never go through again after completing them by the skin of my teeth.
Then you should keep pushing treasures for now and use Ch2 Mertoz as a benchmark for comparison.

Kunio is just a combo slave for +2 worker cat level but actually usable as a unit compared to Rich Cat, nothing impressive but nice to have. You can get him guaranteed when making a 10-roll on his banner I think so might as well save up 1500 cat food for it if you want him for the utility
Fricking zombie Saturn, it's the fourth stage, how did I have such problems with it? Fricking zeal burrowing under all my defenses. Took me several tries to get the timing right to kill the first one, and it still came down to whether my 15 units can destroy the enemy base faster than the second Zeal could destroy mine.

pretty good. mid range generalist tank with weaken. she won't out DPS fish against colossus units but she can do a decent job of weakening them while tanking some hits. the toxic immunity is great against zompeng and zollow.

I'm fairly sure it just goes to 1A because it's only "guaranteed" because the pool guarantees it rather than altering/adding a roll, but I just wanted to check.

Some of them are great, and some not so much. Brainwashed Cat, Gross, Bird, and Fish are great units. Meanwhile, Tank, Axe, and Cow are just horrendous. Lizard is debatable since it's literally just a slightly stronger version of King Dragon Cat

Is she the best generalist Legend Rare right now? My legend rare pull is coming up soon and I'm thinking of saving it for Nanaho, though Momoco seemed nice too until I found out that her wave comes out only on the weak first hit or something
I dunno about generalist, but she's my first and only Legend so far and I use her to clear metal enemies. Whomever she sweeps away on her way to do it I don't even notice.
honestly, the freeze is way more useful than the damage, and the fact that it comes out on the first hit makes her able to land them pretty consistently. she dies pretty easily, though.
best generalist legend is probably between emperor and nanaho

I always hear he is in top of legend rares, how he does fare with other units?
He's pretty good mostly because of his range, but honestly I think Aphrodite is better than him. Emperor lacks a blind spot but he has less range and Aphrodite tends to do more damage because of her LD, even if his DPS is slighty higher. His survivability is also noticeably worse.
He has a bunch of random CC effects, but you can't really rely on them so they're more of a bonus. That said, if you're fighting something that has ginormous range, he's one of the best CC cats available just because he can safely apply CC effects to most enemies, even if they're very random. This makes him very useful vs things like Barons that tend to outrange all your other CC options, as well as some late game enemies.
TL;DR: Worse generalist than Aphrodite, but very useful CC against long 500+ range enemies
I personally really like him. He pairs really well with mitama/chronos since he moves very slowly and can cover their blindspots.

I actually did get the 3DS version before they ended purchases on the console eshop. It's based on the older versions of the real game though since there's no cat combos or true forms. What do you guys think about uber-heavy teams? I've been using picrel to pretty much brute force my way through all of ITF and half of SoL and I'm wondering if that viability drops off a bit towards the end of the game.
Also, which ubers/banners should I keep an eye out for while seed tracking? I have no specialists against most enemy classes, with the fortuitous exception of aliens and traitless.
shadow gao stays top tier at nuking traitless and is still a solid generalist
kasli sweeps the entire game pretty much, very few enemies/stages that she isn't useful against and those are a ways off

People who shame "uber carrying" are casuals who are intimidated by the concept of learning how seed tracking works (Reminder most mobile users are incredibly tech/video game illiterate) and as a result have bad ubers. Because of this they resort to calling people who use ubers bad at the game, as if a mobile game should be competitive.
The game is heavily designed around you using uber cats. I don't mind the idea of handicapping yourself for a challenge, that's fine, but the issue is that the game preys on your real life time (Stamina) and tries to get you to waste currency that can be bought with real money, so unless if you want to encourage people to smash their head into a brick wall you shouldn't shame "Uber carrying". Not only that, but the ability for different users to get different units/ubers is what makes the game interesting, since a lot of the fun of Battle Cats is figuring out how to beat a stage with the specific cats you own. Plus, there's no reason to complain about it when 4 crown is proof you can beat stages without uber carrying anyways.
To answer your question about viability, ubers become even more important in the end game and many end game stages/challenges are basically impossible without spamming ubers or having some of the best ones. ~4 ubers on each stage is pretty common.

Yep, this is pretty much the impression I've been left with so far. There's stages with stacks of >450 range enemies which would likely take 20-30 minutes to clear with a non gacha loadout, and that's just in the opening parts of SoL. The gameplay definitely feels like it's built around the player probably owning one decent tank or backline uber by this point.

as far as uber heavy teams go, it could be a fun challenge to do stages without ubers, but frankly the stages are getting so difficult lately that I think it's more of an exercise in masochism than anything else.
for banners, you can't really go wrong with almighties unless you have all the good ones already. chronos in particular will work great with those three ubers you have. iron legion might also be worth trying too, especially if you lack good anti-zombies.

He's by far the most awkward unit I use regularly. He's got huge potential DPS, which is wasted by frequent missed hits. Definitely a good unit, and probably the coolest uber around. The attack animation in the attached webm has to be one of the best of any unit.

she's expensive to deploy but she's great for hitting backliner aliens. Im currently using her true form to deal with long range relic and alien stages in UL.
Nice range and power, but she's too fast leading to clipping issues and target only kinda blows.

loris has a pitiful damage and saki is curse immune so it's irrelevant
unless my memory is failing me (which it could be) her standing range is deceptively closer to your targets than you would expect. So certain things you would want to try to out range like Zamelles are going to smack her anyway which is highly irritating. She doesn't have a lot of health, but she does have a fairly quick recharge time.

The three-leg race made me realize I have been banking on tanks and Bombercat to stall while Pizza Cat or Ubers slowly get to the enemy, and don't have quick anti-blacks that won't die to two Gory Blacks before they even land a punch. Any suggestions? I just unlocked Gas Mask Cat, but haven't tried him out yet, is he what I'm looking for?

Gas mask is okay but it's too expensive and has too long between spawn times to be a reliable black meat shield. Cost isn't a problem in pure black stages which give loads of money, but in mixed stages its flaws become real apparent
I've just been using Maglev Cat to kill them for cash and then spawn in an expensive unit to clear the rest of the stage..
And now (well, earlier today) that I've reached the tenth stage of Gapra with the behemoth Gory, which is immune to freeze, making bombercat useless, my question gains even more weight. Maybe Chun-Li really is the way to goas

Pizza is probably your best bet, although you can try Talented Heavy Assault C.A.T. (lots of NP though, be warned). As for meatshields against black, I think you're out of luck; the only one I can really think of is picrel, who only drops from Merc Storia.

Should I even bother with Viking or Swordsman Cat when Crazed Island and Courier exist (Courier for 4 crown too)? I've been sitting on their dupes for a while now since they'd probably like being buffed, but I just hit UL with both units still at level 1
Viking is good as a 4star red meatshield as there's no other alternative, with enough boost and the slow immunity he can even kill master a.
Swordsman however is completely outclassed by courier and mushroom, in theory he can reach higher damage than courier but his single target and range is holding him down. the egg units made him completely redundant
I use true form Viking for stalling on seals and pigs, decent enough damage plus decent enough defense makes him qn overall good meatshield, and cheaper than either Courier or any of the Islands.
Huh yeah Viking TF does have decent HP compared to the other low cost anti reds like Swordsman, Dark Cat variants and Golden Kabuto. Guess I'll consider leveling him when I start getting into SoL 4 crown

I'm not so sure, I feel like it's how when you get a guaranteed Uber, you won't also get a platinum shard. Speaking of which, you don't get a plat shard from the River City banner either, so I guess it's one special gift per multi.

Generally what level should I get my units up to? Just unlocked level 50 but I've been seeing people mentioning that they stop at 45 for certain units since level 46 onward require 2 cateyes each, and there are diminishing returns on higher levels. I've maxed Manic Eraser, Ramen and Courier to 50 so far
Eh, I usually just get my units up to 40 with a few exceptions. I do have a lot of plus levels though thinking about it.
Getting units up to 50 isn't a waste if they're incredibly important units. Spending 2 catseyes to boost a useful unit is better than spending 1 on a unit you never use. There's no diminishing return on level ups either.

How many battle formation slots do you guys have unlocked? The sale's on now, so I'm wondering what the correct quantity to purchase is.
How many medals do you have? Apparently it dictates what's your max.

It depends on how convenient you want your life to be. There's no real reason to get extra slots unless you have an idea of what you want to use it for (ex. Dojo lineup with shit ton of money combos, XP stage/black lineup, etc.)

I only bought one extra slot and it's enough for what I need. I have one dedicated slot for 4 crown and another for the most generalist build for me to copy and modify as needed into the other slots

generally lugas are some of the most interesting and fun to use units so outside of furi, papa and nobi it's not really unreasonable to get any of them
that being said Tecoluga is, while not exactly essential, one of the most unique and powerful units if utilized right on the right stages

I'd go with Yuki myself. I never really got the Balrog meme (although that could be because I haven't bothered to invest in his talents yet) and Yukimura will help tremendously in XP stages (another Bahumut never hurt anyone anyways)
It's gonna cost me all my current cat food and rare tickets to get all the way from 1A to 42A, but if the tracks are going to line up this nicely I might as well go for it

Does anyone else here really enjoy planning out their uber gets with the seed tracker? It's a fun little optimisation puzzle and you can grab some tremendous units with a bit of patience. Sometimes it's more enjoyable than the game itself.
Also, I've got the option to pick up either Kenshin + Myrcia + Lucifer OR Nurse + Aphrodite in a couple of days. Which set is better, given that I generally lack specialist ubers?

Now that my normal cats exchange for 2NP, I'm thinking of just converting the spare vanilla, Axe, Cow, Flying and maybe Gross Cats that I pull since I don't see any future use/need to level up. Would that be fine? I think maybe Cow Cat might appreciate the buff in stages like King Wahwahs first stage but I already beat that a while ago
The UR bonus is nice; 90 x 9 so about 810 or whatever it is in the end. Those units do generally seem to fricking suck, and I get punished hard for including them in my team. But then again that's a solid few percent of the entire UR rewards system you lose out on. Depends on what you value more. But it scarcely seems possible that Axe cat can be genuinely useful anywhere. It's a dogshit unit and I am upset when cat tickets are wasted on it. A unit I do not recall using one single time outside of EoC 1.

Tried taking on https://battle-cats.fandom.com/wiki/Agape%27s_Cage for the first time and boy howdy, I did NOT expect the Pigeons to gang up on me like that right off the bat. I guess Octopus Cat is getting a spot on the team.
After clearing that stage and advancing to the L'il Nyandam stage, I managed, with some testing, clear that one as well, but when I went in for a second time, I brought the wrong team, and when I cancelled out and went back, I must've forgotten to turn on Treasure Radar again.
Now I'll have to clear it for a THIRD time and I'm still not sure if I can consistently defeat Bun Bun.
