No. It's not good on PS5. On PS5 it's 720p 60 fps, that is embarrassing. and its not even a constant 60
The ending is open but i fall in the camp of people who believe he did live and he's actually the one who wrote the book in the ending under Joshuas name, we only saw his hand get petrified doesnt mean the rest of him did
I dunno, at the end he seemed to use his new powers to heal Joshua. It feels like he may have died and Joshua was actually the survivor. I feel like that was kind of the point of that flashback of his life with Joshua, he was his shield and used his power to heal him before dying through destroying the last crystal heart
Yeah i dont completely disagree i mean Joshua is literally the phoenix and not dying is thee thing the phoenix does. Doing all the side content they really made sure to not make it clear because about a dozen characters talk about writing a book about the events during the game. Its just aa much chance Gav wrote the book as anyone, but i feel if he did it would be under the name Cid. Maybe i'm over thinking it

One of the brothers is at least alive. That's what the game wants you think, that's the intention. Either Joshua wrote it or Clive (honoring his brother). It would be such a big frick you to the fans if both brothers are dead

Arguing parts of the ending that are implied.. inferred that they are implied.. etc... just seems like a fool's errand. It was vague for whatever reason. I will wait for Jill-2 to learn what actually happened.

Yeah thats fair, we also have to think about how much time has passed as well. We're talking atleast 500 years i'd imagine
Bought a PS5 with a disc drive for 395€ (got both a discount and a cashback app) 50% due to this game. The other 50% was to catch up with exclusives and PS Plus games (Shadow of the Colossus Remake, Demons Souls, Ghost of Tsushima, Miles Morales, Detroit, etc.). Having a blast so far, I'm only a few hours in, though.
I hope you have fun anon. Almost Everytime I thought to myself "is this as good as it's gonna get?" The game would do some wild shit and keep me invested
If we're talking spectacle its Bahamut but a MILE, that shit was fricking insane. The best boss fight though as in piloting human Clive unironically i think was the Behemoth boss fight in Waloed
>Ultima weapon is locked behind new game+ >You literally have to play the game twice to get it
I dont like stuff like this, i enjoyed the game but i put 50 hours into my first play through i did EVERYTHING, i'm not doing that again so soon
Look maybe i'm a brainlet sure but what the frick was that red dot in the sky? Was it Ultimas home planet? I'd of loved more background to all that shit and what exactly happened between him and the fallen as well
Metia was a platform where Ultima could overlook humanity. Why astrologers didn't question why a star was following the moon through the night sky... I don't know... But whatever. It went dark when Ultima and Magick stopped died.
See this is probably my biggest issue with FF16, i really enjoyed the story but all the alien shit and magic shit and the Fallen all felt so glossed over and like they just couldnt be bothered really getting into the details about it
>Everything teased about The Fallen >turns out they were just copying Ultima's designs and that's their entire history in the game stated in 1 optional lore entry
Like how fricking long did the Fallen exist for? How the frick did they become so advanced they had fricking spaceships made out of materials so advanced that the only being on earth who can cut them is Barnabus using Odins powers. What the frick actually happened between them and Ultima? They really just didnt want to talk about any of it lmao
The civilizations that would eventually lead to the groups that would become the Fallen were around for centuries and centuries. They warred one another etc for generations. Then they got assfricked by Ultimate waking up. Which led to nomadic tribes, Bearers who were a part of society, city states being built. This falls apart during the Deluge of Blood war between Bearers and man, which leads to the continental accord like 875years prior to the game.
Ruins like the Apodetery, Reverie, and Obelisks are all Ultimas original structures. The first humans (who would become the Fallen) copied them and their materials for their airships. Airships used huge amounts of Magick/Aether to stay afloat. The people of the Fallen needed ever more crystal to power their machinations and moved to conquer the Mothercrystal of Dzymakes to supply this need. That is when Ultima first woke up from his slumber and saw what the frick humanity was up to. He self destructed the Mothercrystal of Dzymakes creating the region known as the Final Sin (the waterfalls), which destroyed most of mankinds fleet of warships. Then he fricking wrecked everything man had left over. That is when the second age starts where man was nomadic etc... until in Rosaria The Founder started building up civilization again.
I noticed Ultima was voiced by Z from Xenoblade 3 (who also played Viserys Targaryen from GoT season 1) How's the dub in that game? I used japanese audio without giving it a chance.
16 was primarily centered around English. The english is great overall, I just don't like how quiet Clive is in a lot of scenes, sounds like he's whispering for no reason
I just booted up the game to try out NG+ and get the ultima weapon and I'm finding out you can't actually craft the damn thing until near the end of your second playthrough. What the frick man, I was hoping this would be available early on, that kinda blows, for real
Like why do that? You'll barely have enough time to enjoy it, do they really expect you to enjoy the game enough to play it three times in a row just so you can have some time to have fun with the ultima weapon? This sucks
Clive being able to defeat Ultima just doesnt make any lore sense, even if Clive can absorb and use all the powers of the Eikons those very same Eikons were literally created by Ultima. and then Clive a human was literally made by Ultima, you cant just beat this guy by the power of friendship. It just doesnt make any fricking sense
Ultima created man in his own image. And his intent was to build a mortal vessel that was equal to Ultima Prime/Ultramalius (Ifrit Prime). Which was a copy of his race prior to them shedding their flesh to flee the blight. It makes perfect sense.
It makes even less sense when you consider after defeating Ultima Clive then absorbs him and uses his power to heal Joshua, after doing so he realises Ultimas power is too much for him and its going to turn him into a cuck stone. How can Clive have defeated a being who he then admits is too powerful for his own body to control? Shit literally doesnt make sense
Because Ultima himself was a flawed being just like humanity/Clive. Ultima however did not have the power of friendship and hundreds of years of mankind's suffering to strengthen him. So he lost. It really isn't that complex lol...

But Clive literally admits after beating him that he was too powerful for Clive to control. How the frick did he beat him then? It just doesnt make sense

They were equals in the last fight. After which Clive absorbs Ultima. Ultima did not get to "empty the vessel." So you literally have the vessel Ultima wanted, plus Logos absorbing Ultima. Which is then way to fricking much Aether.

Ultima possessing Clive and Clive absorbing Ultimas power are two entirely different concepts.
Anyway wasnt Clive basically meant to be a single use vessel to cast one enormous spell? There was probably no intention for his body to survive that as he would have served his purpose.
Because someone on their team unironically browses Reddit. Probably Yoshida.
Funny it caused the story to fail to captivate people and the sales to plummet past the first week.
Even the ecelebs invited to XVI events like Maximilian and the literal troon universally agree the last part of the game was nonsense.

What is this games signature? its stamp on the franchise? what is the new thing that this added that we'll look back on in 15 years and remember it for?
All the characters are garbage though, even worse all of them are so bland that they became literal whos
OST is trash lmao, not one single memorable track, as expected from hack who's known for copying nobuo uematsu songs
cheap copy from asura's wrath fight that even asura's wrath dev are making fun / taking a jab at ff16 for blatantly copying them
Anon, I’m the biggest Jote fan on Ganker and even I have to admit nobody’s going to remember XVI for her. A Joshua DLC could fix this.
People are only gonna remember Barnabas for his utterly wasted potential. Words cannot express my disappointment with what they did to him. Shit antagonist that has nothing going for him other than being Ganker as frick and having a decent human form boss fight.
Barnabas and Ash were undercooked but he was still great. His inability to resolve the trauma of his mother's loss festers over the decades into a melancholic misanthropy and a rejection of life itself. His and his mother's actual God reveals himself to him, tells Barnabas what he wants to hear about paradise, the wretchedness of the human condition and his place in the solution and he's swept by it completely, losing his humanity in the process. It's his conflict with Clive that allows the latter's philosophy to truly take form. Clive affirms life, affirms the pain and the strife, says yes to the here and now that the good of the world might have meaning (very Nietzschean). The "strength of will" that they duel over is the strength of courageous affirmation versus the conviction of despair. That even such a mighty man can be made low by life's slings and arrows makes Clive all the more heroic by contrast. His place in the story (and Ultima in general) are I think what make the character less than he should be but on his own merits he's a great tragic villain
Yeah he and Ultima both say a lot without saying anything at all and contradict themselves often, writers used him as an exposition dump. Still had some good lines tho >as you would know, could you only look beyond the walls of your prison of self regard
Barnabas's boss fight was so disappointing. After the pure unfiltered kino bahamut and the buildup of barnabas after he beats clives ass twice and on the third encounter you'd expect another huge fight but there wasn't even an Eikon fight and it was just kind of lame
If you can look past that disappointment the fight itself was very good and the Odin cutscenes were still epic. Realistically how could they have topped or even matched the Bahamut fight? I think making it more personal was a good choice

Oh yeah i get why Batnabes is how he is and he had some great moments, but after 30+ hours it just got boring

That’s a fair assessment, but I feel like it’s bordering on conjecture since the execution in-game was so piss poor. It’s the same problem I have with Jill. The capacity for depth is definitely there, and it sounds good on paper, but the writers had no idea how to portray that it seems.
I think there were several different ways they could’ve accomplished his arc without completely removing any agency or threat he has in the story. I would’ve also liked to know more about his past in general, and his relationship with Bene and Cid. Marketing materials made it seem like like he was this cunning, charismatic warrior king with enough wits and tactical prowess to unite several warring tribes under one banner, but in reality he’s a borderline personalityless Lv. 99 mook just following orders.
Yeah I agree with you, they leant too much on suggestive cues in the codex to do the heavy lifting, finding out the details of his mother just before fighting the final boss is not good delivery. You can't help but feel he'd have been a more interesting person had we met him before he made contact with Ultima. As it stands the man we're in conflict with in-game is no longer the same one from his bio, which makes his past more interesting than his present. And yeah, I love Jill but anons are doing more work than the game bothers to do to flesh out her feelings and mentality from small details and inferences alone. It's show don't tell but they could have shown much more
Marketing the dominants as characters they were nothing like once you played the game was a mistake. Titan was supposed to be a schemer not a cuck. The lack of Bahamut during promo probably worked in his favor

>writing quality falls off a cliff after the 2nd timeskip >compelling cast of characters that sound great on paper but are regretfully underutilized and underdeveloped unless their name is Dion or Joshua. Clive’s character arc falls off the face of the earth after R3 + L3 kino >RPG elements were a complete afterthought because they we’re desperately trying to please everyone instead of committing to the action game they wanted to make >lack of enemy variety makes gameplay becomes tedious after a while >eikon customization surprisingly more rigid than it should’ve been, especially with modifier buttons readily available >no exploration whatsoever >nothing to do in the game besides hunts or sidequests >80% of sidequests are boring as frick and don’t offer much in terms of worldbuilding; shit like Yvan’s stew or saving Dorys’ friend from that cartoonishly evil Waloeder fortress were resources that could’ve been poured into exploring the central cast of characters >pacing is GODAWFUL >development feels like it was rushed for the last 25% of the game. Ash was an afterthought and Barnabas’ character is laughable, Origin wasn’t a final dungeon
The story kind of falls apart after the 2nd timeskip when you realize that fricking nobody outside of Clive’s sphere is really responding to what is for all intents and purposes an apocalyptic scenario of mothercrystals disappearing left and right. They abandoned all pretense of political intrigue to just focus on muh Ultima and I think that was a massive misstep.
It’s not a bad game by any means but it’s incredibly flawed. I don’t think it’ll stand the test of time the way greats like FF6, 7, and 10 do.
Also, I love Jote!
People also shat on FF7 for not being a "real Final Fantasy" when it released too moron. It was a controversial and divisive game for departing too much from the previous entry until 2014 or so when it got redeemed by video essays on Youtube.
FFXVI is already on track to win GOTY and be remembered as one of the better games in the decade.
Are you a bot? Where did I say it wasn’t a real FF?
It seems like you wanted an open world game, but that was never what was promised.
That’s not something I said either. I just think having such expansive maps was a waste of resources if they weren’t going to do anything interesting with them. Any exploration you do is rewarded with a chest full of 999 sharp fangs.
They probably should’ve just fully committed to being a tight, linear experience like other action games.
>FF7 was a controversial and divisive game that people didn't think was a "real ff" until youtubers in 2014 made video essays
if this is bait, i fricking hate you for even writing this kind of nonsense knowing it will get (you)s and being a disingenuous homosexual
if this is a legitimate opinion, i fricking hate you for being such a clueless zoomer frick that speaks with authority as if you know everything there is to know
your ilk have utterly ruined this site.
It didn't feel necessary at all. They wanted to have enough space in the plot for Clive to save the world as an outlaw but they didn't put in the work to show how he earned that position and respect. At the time of his expedition to smash the first crystal most people are still suspicious of him
it's funny because immediately after the timeskip he "frees" a bunch of slaves as his "super cool reintroduction" and they all hate him for doing it. You'd think after five years he'd have a bit more competence than just jump in and see what happens, they'll come around eventually. FWIW I basically stopped playing the game immediately after that section.
Everyone forgot 11
12 is pretty good but it's got some problems.
13 is shit
14 originally was even worse than 13 but in recent times it's one of the best FF, that is if you don't mind MMOs.
15 despite selling really well is the biggest stain on the franchise due to it having any lack of content thanks to development hell. SE tried doing the same thing that they did with XIV to save it's reputation but the game was just so fricked that they ultimately decided it wasn't worth saving and called it quits.
FF 2009 to 2019 (13 to 15) was just abysmal and it ruined the franchise's reputation in the latest years. Thankfully SE released shadow bringers and FF7 remake and ever since then FF as a franchise has been good.
How would you have improved the story? Jill not getting enough screen time has been talked about to death, but I would have appreciated some storylines to flesh out some characters that the devs could have done instead of pointless side quests. >Parallel storyline in the middle third where you play as Joshua, Jote and Dion and get to explore the unexplored cities >Bahamut fight being less about Dion being driven berserk and more about him going full nihilist and submitting to Ultima's will because he feels powerless and without agency >More tension between Clive and the hideaway that shows him earning his title (they suck his dick from day 1, there was room to do a "you'll never be Cid" sort of thing)
I would’ve absolutely loved Joshua/Jote/Dion shenanigans.
But first and foremost I would’ve included some flashbacks to Clive and Jill’s lives as slaves. The fact that we didn’t have any is absolutely criminal and makes their arcs fall a bit flat. The bad thing about all these time skips is that a lot of important character building shit happens off screen. I like your idea about Clive having to earn the hideaway’s trust being there to fill in that gap.
Since one of the main themes of this game is about the bonds between people I would also expound upon everyone’s interpersonal relationships. It was a glaring oversight to not have Joshua and Jill interact at all after their reunion. He doesn’t so much as hug her for frick’s sake. Jill could’ve done with some non-Clive relationships in general, but that’s a dead horse at this point. There were also missed opportunities to have threads like Clive and Jote bonding over their love for Joshua and their duties as his protector, or Clive and Dion developing a sort of connection based on everything they’ve suffered at the hands of Anabella. Then I would put some actual focus on the Waloeder dominants.
Lastly, I would give Outlaw Clive an actual arc. It’s extremely weird to me how Clive never once questions his objective to destroy all the crystals just based on the fact Cid had a hunch, especially since their destruction only hastened the Blight and toppled entire governments. Clive is for all intents and purposes an agent of chaos for no discernible benefits and with no backup plans, so it would’ve been nice to see him question if he was actually doing the right thing, which also could’ve tied beautifully into his fear about becoming the “monster” Ultima wants him to be.
By deleting Ultima from the fricking game, doubling down on the GoT atmosphere, and have Clive rebuild Rosaria in the end and make Jill his duchess instead of making a 2deep4u ambiguous ending for pretentious homosexuals to jerk off over. They were so close to greatness before they shoehorned in that evil god trope bullshit.
stop writing gay fanfiction. no one is reading this
>nooooooo stop pointing out the flaws in my shitty little video game story!!!!
I read it 🙂
This is why they should stop listening to the fandom and go full creative

When you buy a car, you expect it to go vroom vroom. But you want more than this bare minimum, don't you?
>the zeldaschizo woke up
Damn, it was a comfy thread
After 60+ hours, I can safely say I preferred Final Fantasy XV, but a mile, and I know the risks of saying that and that I'd be in the minority. I preferred the more light-hearted slice-of-life feel that FFXV had; also, the soundtrack has more songs on it that I preferred compared to FFXVI. Don't get me wrong, I like Soken, but overall FFXV had better tracks for my taste.
I also preferred the FFXV combat system, which was flashier, and I liked having AI party members to do combos with. It was also fun going camping, riding in the car, staying in hotels, cooking food, fishing, etc. FFXVI didn't have any of that stuff. I bought FFXV three times on two different platforms and collectively put well over 200+ hours into the game. And I still didn't platinum it, but I came close.
I won't even put 100 hours into FFXVI. I might give NG+ a try, but I have no desire or interest even to replay the game. FFXV felt more like Final Fantasy to me than FFXVI.
I like 15 too, but I didn't replay it like 95% of the games I own. I started replaying 16 right away because now I understood the plot. I even heard they make Luna more important and improved the game and I still won't replay 15. I also like cool hobo Ardyn more than Ultima who sounds like an autistic robot
16? I like watching it and while I did think it was easy I still enjoyed it and even then I still died a bit. FF mode is a shitton more enjoyable play wise
It was really good but frick me man it just needed to condense some of the sidequests down, also add more mini-games or something so every quest isn't just a fetch quest or kill something quest.
>The best Final Fantasy game since FF10
That's an extremely low bar but it fails even that
FF16 is the worst mainline release in the franchise and on par with shit like Dirge of Cerberus
joshua and jote misadventures to show what the frick they've been up to for 18 years
and joshua would somehow make a move on jote faster than cucklive did with jill lol
I think one of the big reasons I didn't like 12 is because their faces look like they were melting. They also have a sameface thing going on. Ashe was top tier though and probably the only reason I finished the game but I don't remember shit about the game except the cool Summoning music and that Ashe is a runaway princess whose husband got murdered
>homosexual Fantasy cultists are STILL going at it despite even square dropping all claims of "success" and admitting the game was mid and Japan giving the game away at over half discount that shortly after launch
Is this desperation? Just sad.

Would be if the main story was 15 hours instead of 30 hours. and used their resources fleshing out levels like adding ways to interact with stuff and have something to explore.
16 is a 3/10
Most of the characters in the game as about as meaningful as Vaan and Penelo
The sidequests are the worst they have ever been
The plot is the same plot hole ridden shit as 13 complete with the exact same "Aha, the villain WANTED you to do everything you've been doing for the whole game!"
Terrible equipment system even worse than 13
ACTUAL homosexuals instead of just looking like homosexuals in XV
>„The thing that [Yoshida] wants to get across is that when we are creating games, at least with our team, we don’t go into them thinking that we’re going to be creating JRPGs, we just go into them thinking we’re going to create RPGs.”
>“For us as developers [in Japan], the first time we heard it, it was like a discriminatory term,” explained Yoshida. “As though we were being made fun of for creating these games, and so for some developers, the term JRPG can be something that will maybe trigger bad feelings because of what it was in the past.”
Why is this limp-wristed homosexual so pathetic? He talks about his feelings like a woman, he has a meltdown over negative comments on Japanese TV. He always fake cries on livestreams. Now that his shitty game flopped he probably takes anti-depressants, lmao.
If he wanted to rip off wow he'd need to put actual builds and equipment. RPG shit. He's incapable of doing that. We set out to make an RPG that's why gear and build doesn't matter and our encounters are 5 minutes of group jump rope in a circular room where everyone has the same gear same moves and the factor in winning is dancing in the right spot. You know RPG stuff.
People are right in saying that Ultima ruins the game and everything after Bahamut nosedives in quality. A shame too because it was 10/10 but that point.
Can someone explain to me what was achieved by Joshua absorbing Ultima into his chest? He was still floating around popping in and out wherever he wanted afterwards, he wasn't contained at all and all it did was make Joshy boy sick
How did XVI manage to have every major problem that plagued XIII and XV? >Cluttered uninteresting narrative >Boring side characters >Dull battle system >Dull NPCs >Dull plot in general >Awful exposition
Shame his boss fight was pure fricking shit. You go through this section where you have to dodge shit and get hits in, then you go up to space while the epic music plays and you just fly around shooting targets with a shit reticle just spamming the attack button and maybe dodging once in a while and then when the game actually lets you attack its just a matter of getting close and slapping him till the next sequence starts. The fight was so fricking long and I was waiting for it to actually be a reverse in which you fight Bahamut fully prime first and then Dion fights you semi-prime because HE IS A FRICKING DRAGOON! Such fricking potential to have an amazing one on one fight and they didn't do shit with it.
It would've been more fun if this game was a spin-off about fighting iconic summons from the series, without all the boring shit around the characters. Just make like 3-5 playable characters next to ifrit and have 20 or so fights in the series.
now you're making me want to play it
it was made by devs that care about the franchise and love what they do.
It was made by mmo devs and it has mmo game design
Clive is a fricking kino chad thats how
give me the fricking PC port AAAAAAAAAAAAAA
i'm not buying a white toaster

No. It's not good on PS5. On PS5 it's 720p 60 fps, that is embarrassing. and its not even a constant 60
Low bar. The series got so bad 12 became a classic despite a divisive reception.
Ending song is fricking kino
Every song gets better when you know the lyrics.
I agree but i just fricking love the ending song, its so good
Timing of treasure in the song and the ending was perfect.
god fricking damn
the lyrics are so good
Garuda's are pretty good, pretty much just a rage ballad about Cid leaving her.
Sokken in a nutshell.
All his killer tracks in FF14 are the same way.
I enjoyed her game. Was sad when I ran out of content and couldn't justify playing it anymore.
Just wait for her DLC
Its so easy to love a really hot guy that also isnt some major douchebag
Tied with FF7 for favorite and I’ve loved just about every final fantasy
Nobody cares Jillgay.
I finished it today, wasn't expecting such a sad ending
It depends on how you look at it, i'd argue its happy and not sad since they're finally free from the crystal israelite
In a way yeah but I really wanted him to come back to Jill like he promised
They both got to gaze upon the moon together once more at least... even if they weren't in the same place.
They didn't, you just have low standards.
What was the best boss fight? I think it's a close tie between bahamut and ultima
If we're talking spectacle its Bahamut but a MILE, that shit was fricking insane. The best boss fight though as in piloting human Clive unironically i think was the Behemoth boss fight in Waloed
Best test of regular mechanics was probably Barnabas, Beneditka was pretty good too but its a bit too early in terms of abilities.
Best test of Eikon mechanics was Typhon.
Titan, Bahamut and Ultimalius were fun as frick, but mostly spectacle over gameplay.
The characters are pretty good, but the plot is so damn boring. And the combat gets a little monotonous.
I thought the plot was engaging personally
I think it definitely has some high points, it just seems like it has some some stretches where it drags for awhile.
Oh yeah they dragged it out for sure but i didnt hate it since i thought most of the minor villlians kept it interesting like Kupka and Dion
I thought the plot was fine. Ultima was a decent villain.
>Ultima weapon is locked behind new game+
>You literally have to play the game twice to get it
I dont like stuff like this, i enjoyed the game but i put 50 hours into my first play through i did EVERYTHING, i'm not doing that again so soon

Soken is always great when it comes to having meaningful lyrics
considering 12, 13, and 15 are fricking awful, 16 being alright makes it the best
See this is probably my biggest issue with FF16, i really enjoyed the story but all the alien shit and magic shit and the Fallen all felt so glossed over and like they just couldnt be bothered really getting into the details about it
>Everything teased about The Fallen
>turns out they were just copying Ultima's designs and that's their entire history in the game stated in 1 optional lore entry
Clive atleast ask Torgal to leave because you rail Jill
Little more than an excuse for Yoshi P to throw in an old FF XIV reference.
This sucks
It was almost a 10/10 but the overall quality fricking nosedives after Bahamut. My final rating is a 7.
The Bahamut boss is the best I've ever played, surpassing Sword Saint Isshin. 10/10 boss.
God made man in his image, man cannot become god. Why would this be different for Ultima?
Because God didn't decide to go to sleep and let his kids frick around with themselves for 1000+ years.
didn't stop the 3 daughters from getting their dear old father drunk to carry his lineage
genesis was wild
Or maybe it just doesnt make logical sense in the story
Or it makes perfect sense and you are just being obtuse. Whatever lol.
>No u
Yeah, i won
You offered no logical response, just vagaries that showed your own ignorance. Go be moronic somewhere else.
>no u
I won again
Ultima possessing Clive and Clive absorbing Ultimas power are two entirely different concepts.
Anyway wasnt Clive basically meant to be a single use vessel to cast one enormous spell? There was probably no intention for his body to survive that as he would have served his purpose.
Because Ultima's goal was not just to recreate the image, he wanted a full on replacement body to inhabit.
Because ultimately man created god in his image (mentally ill schizo and all)
This shit is some old times fanfic bullshit that current era people are unironically reading due to their religion LMAO

It's not better than 12, kid.
Anything is better than 12
I will not stop hating on this game until it comes on PC, then I will do a 360 and praise it.
The story in this game is the blandest shit in the entire franchise.
I don't know, considering no one seems to understand it. But your opinion is just as valid as mine.
What is this games signature? its stamp on the franchise? what is the new thing that this added that we'll look back on in 15 years and remember it for?
A protagonist that isn't femboy bait? I dunno... seems like a pretty big switch.
We've had that already. Final Fantasy existed before 7.
Barnabas, Dion, Clive, Jote
10/10 OST
First M-rated FF
10/10 boss fights
For me, its Asta.
Best NPC of all time. she's so horny
All the characters are garbage though, even worse all of them are so bland that they became literal whos
OST is trash lmao, not one single memorable track, as expected from hack who's known for copying nobuo uematsu songs
cheap copy from asura's wrath fight that even asura's wrath dev are making fun / taking a jab at ff16 for blatantly copying them
if you disagree then your mother fricks dog
Enough bait to turn the whole thread Akashic.
I'd of liked Barnabas if he could go 2 seconds without saying some wanky poetry shit
Yeah he and Ultima both say a lot without saying anything at all and contradict themselves often, writers used him as an exposition dump. Still had some good lines tho
>as you would know, could you only look beyond the walls of your prison of self regard
>Faceapp smile
Not worthwhile
Barnabas's boss fight was so disappointing. After the pure unfiltered kino bahamut and the buildup of barnabas after he beats clives ass twice and on the third encounter you'd expect another huge fight but there wasn't even an Eikon fight and it was just kind of lame
It was better because it didnt have a serious Eikon fight, the Eikon fights are just fricking cutscenes
Trendchasing DMC/GoT/AoT.
Sick fricking boss fights. I only wish they were much harder. Like KH2 critical mode hard at least.
It's okay anon, you don't need to pretend and cope anymore. SE admitted it was a sales failure. You don't have to put on the act anymore.
I highly recommend some shotgun mouthwash
Square enix, forbex, bloomberg, Fidelity Investments, TOYO Financial Group, Jefferies Group Investment banking, Citigroup Inc. Investment banking, JPMorgan Chase & Co, BNY Mellon, TD Ameritrade, Fisher Investments, Charles Schwab, Bridgewater Associates, other Banking and Invesment Companies, and share holders are laughing at you
Forspoken bombed, not FF16
honestly its because its the first ff game since the mmo that has good voice acting
I love Barnabas!
I want him to sit on my face
The ending reaction thread with people shitting on the game left and right has certainly been one of the better moments of the year in this board.
Way better than FFXV.
>writing quality falls off a cliff after the 2nd timeskip
>compelling cast of characters that sound great on paper but are regretfully underutilized and underdeveloped unless their name is Dion or Joshua. Clive’s character arc falls off the face of the earth after R3 + L3 kino
>RPG elements were a complete afterthought because they we’re desperately trying to please everyone instead of committing to the action game they wanted to make
>lack of enemy variety makes gameplay becomes tedious after a while
>eikon customization surprisingly more rigid than it should’ve been, especially with modifier buttons readily available
>no exploration whatsoever
>nothing to do in the game besides hunts or sidequests
>80% of sidequests are boring as frick and don’t offer much in terms of worldbuilding; shit like Yvan’s stew or saving Dorys’ friend from that cartoonishly evil Waloeder fortress were resources that could’ve been poured into exploring the central cast of characters
>pacing is GODAWFUL
>development feels like it was rushed for the last 25% of the game.
This is bait, this guy falseflagging as jillgay and is probably a tendie
No one is saying ffvii was hated or ffxvi is going to win goty
Anon, OP is the same falseflag speaking to himself and switching VPNs occasionally. It's pretty sad.
Are you a bot? Where did I say it wasn’t a real FF?
That’s not something I said either. I just think having such expansive maps was a waste of resources if they weren’t going to do anything interesting with them. Any exploration you do is rewarded with a chest full of 999 sharp fangs.
They probably should’ve just fully committed to being a tight, linear experience like other action games.
>until 2014
could you make it any more obvious that you are a zoomer? you’re probably not even old enough to be posting here
>FF7 was a controversial and divisive game that people didn't think was a "real ff" until youtubers in 2014 made video essays
if this is bait, i fricking hate you for even writing this kind of nonsense knowing it will get (you)s and being a disingenuous homosexual
if this is a legitimate opinion, i fricking hate you for being such a clueless zoomer frick that speaks with authority as if you know everything there is to know
your ilk have utterly ruined this site.
Yeah i think once he started destroying the mother crystals they shoudl have started focusing the story on that and not le ebin war between nations
It seems like you wanted an open world game, but that was never what was promised.
Jote is way too pretty
>Origin wasn’t a final dungeon
Holy shit, I just realized this, your right. wtf
the real question is why the frick was there a 5 year time skip? Especially after what happened.
Essentially the same problems as XIII and XV. Why didn't SE learn?
It was pretty mediocre
A solid 7 out of 10, pretty sad that's good for the franchise now but it was still better than xv
>The best Final Fantasy game since FF10
>HOW did they do it?
Make any shit and it'll be the best FF since FF10.
Everything since FFX was really shit?
>FF 2009 to 2019 (13 to 15) was just abysmal and it ruined the franchise's reputation in the latest years.
Dissidia 012 was released in 2011.
>A game so boring even Vinny Pedosauce can't save it
Dont even try compare those 2 games. This shouldn't even be considered final fantasy
Finished it just now. Loved it, best one since FF10 for sure (my 14 sub lapsed and I didn't renew). I will play my tradwife Jill's game.
How would you have improved the story? Jill not getting enough screen time has been talked about to death, but I would have appreciated some storylines to flesh out some characters that the devs could have done instead of pointless side quests.
>Parallel storyline in the middle third where you play as Joshua, Jote and Dion and get to explore the unexplored cities
>Bahamut fight being less about Dion being driven berserk and more about him going full nihilist and submitting to Ultima's will because he feels powerless and without agency
>More tension between Clive and the hideaway that shows him earning his title (they suck his dick from day 1, there was room to do a "you'll never be Cid" sort of thing)
Clive is for all intents and purposes an agent of chaos for no discernible benefits and with no backup plans, so it would’ve been nice to see him question if he was actually doing the right thing, which also could’ve tied beautifully into his fear about becoming the “monster” Ultima wants him to be.
stop writing gay fanfiction. no one is reading this
No.
By deleting Ultima from the fricking game, doubling down on the GoT atmosphere, and have Clive rebuild Rosaria in the end and make Jill his duchess instead of making a 2deep4u ambiguous ending for pretentious homosexuals to jerk off over. They were so close to greatness before they shoehorned in that evil god trope bullshit.
>nooooooo stop pointing out the flaws in my shitty little video game story!!!!
I read it 🙂
This is why they should stop listening to the fandom and go full creative
I remember DmC was going to be about a schizo thinking himself as Dante, homosexuals complained and we just got a worse dmc3 version
But the cult is everything he has...
>the zeldaschizo woke up
Damn, it was a comfy thread
I also like cool hobo Ardyn more than Ultima who sounds like an autistic robot
watched it. you rewatched it. a game that has enemies that just stand there waiting to be murdered doesn't get to be something you said you played.
16? I like watching it and while I did think it was easy I still enjoyed it and even then I still died a bit. FF mode is a shitton more enjoyable play wise
>the best game in a zombie series since a mediocre game
>how did they do it
By lowering standards, obviously.
It was really good but frick me man it just needed to condense some of the sidequests down, also add more mini-games or something so every quest isn't just a fetch quest or kill something quest.
>6 top tier
Yup, stopping right there.
worst list ive ever seen in my life
It's not final fantasy. It's not even an rpg.
>The best Final Fantasy game since FF10
That's an extremely low bar but it fails even that
FF16 is the worst mainline release in the franchise and on par with shit like Dirge of Cerberus
Its not the best, but I liked it
What do you want for dlc?
joshua and jote misadventures to show what the frick they've been up to for 18 years
and joshua would somehow make a move on jote faster than cucklive did with jill lol
12 is still the best.
16 was mid.
He has standards.
>homosexual Fantasy cultists are STILL going at it despite even square dropping all claims of "success" and admitting the game was mid and Japan giving the game away at over half discount that shortly after launch
Is this desperation? Just sad.
>and admitting the game was mid
frfr no cap ong dis shit ain't bussin sheeesh
>Liking a game makes you a cultist
Can you at least focus this autism on the actual shill threads that are spammed on Ganker?
FF16 was good btw
>we're not shills anymore because some other slop is getting forced now
Once a shill, always a shill. FF16 was weak and square agrees.
>b-but they said it met the expe-
When you buy a car, you expect it to go vroom vroom. But you want more than this bare minimum, don't you?
Not everyone who talks about a game in a positive way is a shill and/or cultist, schizo
Tendies call cultists to everyone, ignore them
Would be if the main story was 15 hours instead of 30 hours. and used their resources fleshing out levels like adding ways to interact with stuff and have something to explore.
That's not saying much.
12 was a 6/10
13 was a 4/10
15 was a 5/10
16 is a 3/10
Most of the characters in the game as about as meaningful as Vaan and Penelo
The sidequests are the worst they have ever been
The plot is the same plot hole ridden shit as 13 complete with the exact same "Aha, the villain WANTED you to do everything you've been doing for the whole game!"
Terrible equipment system even worse than 13
ACTUAL homosexuals instead of just looking like homosexuals in XV
XVI is better than X
Now that’s what I call bait!
Why are you so in love with him anon?
Why do you keep defending your bf online, mmo cultist?
This man wishes every waking day of his life that he was a westoid developer and willingly chooses to act like one
I could tell that by the way he deifies GoT and WoW to make direct rip-offs.
Not a high bar to beat 12, 13 and 15 but it did.
also anyone that think Clive lives is a brainlet redditor
shartal shartasy sharteen is wgoty
Everything post X has been a marked reduction in quality
People are right in saying that Ultima ruins the game and everything after Bahamut nosedives in quality. A shame too because it was 10/10 but that point.
By making 11-15 so dogshit that the bar to clear for 16 is unfathomably low.
Still dogshit next to 1-10.
Can someone explain to me what was achieved by Joshua absorbing Ultima into his chest? He was still floating around popping in and out wherever he wanted afterwards, he wasn't contained at all and all it did was make Joshy boy sick
He didnt know each mothercrystal was basically another ultima, or rather a fragment of the collective.
Now as to why he actively avoided Clive until they reunite after fighting bahamut, who knows.
Reckon he thought he had absorbed the one and only Ultima initially.
Over time realised that it was just a fragment.
How did XVI manage to have every major problem that plagued XIII and XV?
>Cluttered uninteresting narrative
>Boring side characters
>Dull battle system
>Dull NPCs
>Dull plot in general
>Awful exposition
>XIII
>npcs
For me its Dion.
I want him to rape me
Shame his boss fight was pure fricking shit. Such fricking potential to have an amazing one on one fight and they didn't do shit with it.
>used prices already collapsing because no one is actually interested in buying the game
It would've been more fun if this game was a spin-off about fighting iconic summons from the series, without all the boring shit around the characters. Just make like 3-5 playable characters next to ifrit and have 20 or so fights in the series.
So ff x persona?
How does anything I just described have anything to do with persona?
>>The best Final Fantasy game since FF10
Do you have any idea how low of a bar that is?
well i think i'm done for the rest of the fest
all these mirror matches really suck the fun out of the game, feels like i'm just playing regular turf wars
