It's definitely a product of its time with all the running and hiding, but damn if the tone and environments aren't still great to this day. Also some people hated it but I tend to like the "supernatural monster has a rational explanation" idea so I liked the Walrider being a nanomachine swarm being controlled by an autistic kid tortured by a glowie company. *Also* also, great theme
Still can't fathom how hard they dropped the ball immediately afterwards. Outlast 2 was a disappointment, and the least I say about the multiplayer game the better.
Outlast peaked in the DLC for the first game.
Which in a way is also a product of its time, it came out in 2014 right before the start of the current troony craze and the story would obviously be seen through that today.
Outlast 2 was so bad I wish they instead made the DLC the real sequel(prequel) nd made it longer
Trials is a waste of time, they really killed the ip too soon with outlast 2, at least Amnesia tried to redeem itself with Bunker

What problem do you have with it? It's pretty tense even with the multiplayer aspect slightly lowering the fear factor.

This is literally how you get the Insanity achievement, its just streamlining your route running past 90% of things in the game.
Its not even the best horror game its in genre

I thought it was total garbage honestly, the AI was moronic, the plot sucked, the whole game is just a stupid gimmick.

I beat this game in one sitting and my brain was on autopilot the whole time. Too much of a haunted house type horror for me. I was led to believe it's similar to Amnesia, when the two are nothing alike.
That being said I did appreciate how blatant it was with some of its visuals. Very few games show straight up necrophilia, not implied or off screen, you just see it happening in front of you.

I like Outlast 2 because it had a better story/narrative but even then everything just comes down to the radio signal making everyone insane.
