didn't mod mat k, the old director say it was averaging 20-25% bot numbers?
It seems like it's gotten significantly WORSE in the last 2 years. I can go on any world and see most bosses have an unending trail of bots moving to and from the instance 24/7, many in the top 100 on the leaderboards for kc (meaning thousands of kills).

      Anonymous

When did he say 20-25%? If it was in 2012 or whatever they had way worse anti-cheat back then

        Anonymous

No, after he left, not that long ago in an interview on one of the like 80 thousand osrs "podcasts". It was a pretty popular topic but I can't find the link at the moment. He still mentions bot rates being very high in his streams though, said so last week even that it seems like the rates are getting higher based on his own experiences.

          Anonymous

How does he know the bot rates after he left when they implemented way better anti-cheat?

            Anonymous

Because he knows the actual systems and can see with the eyes in his skull that there are more bots than there ever were before?
I'm more inclined to believe the words of a (former) game director than literal whos on plebbit. And since gayex won't speak up on the matter as more and more worlds have content like wildy bosses ENTIRELY locked by bots, they incentivize botting by instancing stuff like tithe farm, and more, it seems like they want bots, to try and monetize them.

              Anonymous

So you are saying he doesnt believe the modern anti-cheat systems work at all?

                Anonymous

There's bots on the highscores who are literally top page for skills and bosses. They would have to be running 24/7 for months straight to achieve that. They don't get banned until people start crying about it on Reddit. Its a problem they don't actually want to fix because it makes them a shitload of money, so they just make more content instanced so you don't see them.

                Anonymous

But at the end of the day, all your examples are straight up reddit. Its not concrete numbers, something only the devs have.
Mod Mat K was the only relevant argument you had and you havent posted the source or when he said it

                >it's not concrete numbers
                ????
                it's jagex provided.
Go look at the oldschool hi scores. No I will not link it as you'll claim I'm fudging it. Go ahead, look at any instanced boss.

                Anonymous

So, if I see on hiscores theres a few bots. Does that mean the bot numbers are 25%? 50%? 1%
How do you actually go from seeing bots on hi-scores extrapolating the actual bot numbers? You're just taking about your feel and you seeing bots in cooks guild

I'm not the anon you were talking to before, just adding to what he was saying from what I had seen when I was still playing earlier this year. The anti-cheat system really does seem broken. I don't have numbers or figures or anything, I don't even play anymore.

Thats fine, im just pointing out, the community director says 1%-9% depending on the time of day

grug see ice mountain in water, but when grug see under water grug see a even bigger ice mountain.

if bots are allowed at the tippy top, they are there at the lower levels at greater numbers

                Anonymous

So, you do not see any relevance to the fact the top percentile of players by killcount, equating to THOUSANDS of hours (for bots like vorkath that also have a few dozen hours minimum stat and questing beforehand, and also have tens of thousands of kills equating to at the VERY least 1000, likely more hours) are left free to sit upon the hi scores?
It shows at the very very very bare minimum negligence from jagex, but the NATURAL extrapolation from the fact they allow many bots to sit free after thousands of hours, means there must be thousands, nay, tens of thousands of bots left free otherwise. That would fit in the 1-9%. Look now at more than just vorkath, and the wildy bosses, look with your EYES at popular resource gathering spots, on every single world, mlm is filled with plain old, obvious as frick, SUICIDE BOTS. That aren't banned, despite having twenty, thirty, up to a hundred million mining XP. This is not an argument or some "hurr jagex bad" shit, it is plain and simple that the owners do not care about maintaining the game's quality. They're more interested in pushing more and more novelty modes, gimmicks like ctc, and pumping out garbage content that ignores actual player wishes. Or are we going to pretend they didn't fumble the frick out of the new prayerbook (now scrapped, btw, and will very likely never be revisited) because they decided to change the prayers after people voted on them?

                Anonymous

The top percentile of players by killcount being bots should not be surprising at all, though. I mean yea it is a surprise that they arent more efficient at banning them but in a vacuum with no bans, every hiscore would be a bot simply because a bot can go 24/7

I watched a video of a bot that was linked to chatGTP and was having conversations with other players. It's only a matter of time until bots become undetectable. It might actually make the game feel more alive than it has in years funnily enough.

If you believe this you're in some kind of weird ass denial I've never even heard of. Realistically, the game is more like 40% bots, at least.

  13. 11 months ago
    Anonymous

    >1-9%
Lamo, do people actually believe this shit. A realistic very conservative estimate is 30%, probably 40%+ though since a lot of people use custom scripts which are near undetectable.
And that is not counting the goldfarmers actually playing and multiboxing 12+ accounts.

  14. 11 months ago
    Anonymous

    >1-9%
Its higher than that for sure, that's the propaganda number. If you include gold farmers from 3rd world countries, its likely around 25-30%. I played for a while but quit because the combat is really just boring to me. I don't get how people like the click and wait combat.
