So which one is it? From what I've heard, it's either the Dreamcast version(the series creator's personal favorite) or the PC version(an enhanced port of the original N64 version).

PS2 version
DC > PC > shit > the rest
Enjoy your interlaced video, massive fps drops, pointless new hub world, worse textures and lighting, and long-ass loading times.
It's the second smoothest running console version and the best looking version, also has full 480p support. Ask me how i know you never played it.
>It's the second smoothest running console version
That's still less smooth than the DC version.
Dreamcast version looks like an N64 game. Oh no the epic skillful gameplay won't be at 60fps on PS2 how will I juggle enemies and do frame perfect qcf inputs in this casual baby game?
You're selling it short, the textures and render resolution are all very crisp. PS2 does have some improvements to geometry but I'd honestly take more consistent performance.
>PS2 does have some improvements to geometry
You're selling it short, the game is completely redone.
Yeah I don't know why more people don't acknowledge that Revolution is practically a different game altogether. The levels are very obviously different. It makes me feel like most shit talkers haven't actually played it.
That's just the thing, it's so different it's not even like playing the same game any more. PS1 is sorta like that too but not as good. It's hard to deny that the Dreamcast is the best version of the "original" Rayman 2.
>it's so different it's not even like playing the same game any more
Oh no, we have 10000 ways to play the same rayman 2, and then one that's like a new game. We should b***h and fight over the ones that have a slightly lower res 31x30 texture instead of the proper 32x32 texture for this single tile and declare the one that's actually DIFFERENT useless and shit. Fricking stupidity. Go play the DS version PS2 also has all the same fricking level designs just improved. You literally get the same experience just completely redone.
PS2's the same game you never fricking played it.
>PS2's the same game you never fricking played it.
It was actually the first version I played, followed by the PC version. It's the one with the most differences by far.
>You literally get the same experience just completely redone.
insane and incomprehensible
Activision ceo detected
>Dreamcast version looks like an n64 game
lmao what are you smoking
DC > PC > N64 > PS1(PS2 version's practically a different game so I didn't include it)
Every version seems to be worth playing, really
Except maybe the N64 version, which is literally just the PC version with worse graphics and shitty MIDI music
Astoundingly, it's the PS1 version.
n64 of course
I always being disapointed playing the PC version after playing the PS2 because the hub world was gone. Was it really so bad?
The PC version was released first, I don't think the hub world was even conceptualized back then.
I played it first on ps2 way back when it came out and got to play it again on PC when you got it for pre ordering one of the new 2d games. That was the first time I found out about the version differences
Whatever happened to that fan-made enhanced PC version project?
PS2 version on the left, N64 version on the right. As anyone can tell, the game play here is completely different and not remotely alike. Yes the PS2 version looks about 10 times better and runs smoother, but unlike on the N64 version, when you have the bombs come at you, you must stand in place, throw a shot and catch the barrel then resume until you reach the machine and throw the barrel. The game handles the aiming for you. However unlike the PS2 version in the N64 version when you have the bombs come at you, you must stand in place, throw a shot and catch the barrel then resume until you reach the machine and throw the barrel. The game handles the aiming for you.
The games are completely different.
Why did they tinker with it so much between platforms? Why did they release it on so many platforms? It's not like it was such a great game they just had to saturate the market with raymans, was it?
I had the os1 version as a kid, and played the 3DS version to completion recently- I missed the boss dialog.
Also, the game feels incredibly unfinished, the fourth mask sneaks up on you, with a paper thin explanation
The PS2 version actually has a new boss for the fourth mask iirc
That feel when my mom bought the one with maths in it
The 3DS version is actually my favorite, but ONLY on a New 3DS with CFW installed. Reason being, the New 3DS can run software at 804 MHz, but all old 3DS games are locked at 268 MHz unless you override it with Luma3DS. The difference is night and day. Normally 3DS Rayman chugs along at 20-30fps, but with the higher clock speed it goes up to a solid 60. If I'm not mistaken, none of the other versions can get to 60 unless you use an emulator or physically overclock the console.
Dreamcast can hit 60 pretty consistently, IIRC Rayman 3D is the same game but with a few bugs tha make 100% completion impossible.
Yeah and they removed the multiplayer minigames.
The PC and Dreamcast versions can reach 60fps easily.
Still fricking kooky to me that Rayman 2 is both an early DS and 3DS title.
The PC version because I don't understand many of the small changes that they made in the DC version. Some levels have more enemies or slightly different platforming sections in the DC version, but what was wrong with the original level design? The Hall of Doors is now the Isle of Doors, but why? I am not a fan of changes for the sake of changes.
iOS
I played PC and it was fine. The game itself is one of the most overrated btw, unremarkable. But it's a ok 6/10
>the PlayStation versions are the ones with the biggest changes
Why is that?
