Personally I think the version of the Fusion suit they had in the Dread intro looked better as far as the blue parts of the suit went. The muscle fiber look versus the latex look of the original concept makes the suit look more biomechanical, which it is. The Dread suit even keeps that muscle fiber look inbetween the metallic portions of the suit to show that it is just a progression of her suit's recovery over time.
That, and part of the point of the Fusion suit is to look incredibly vulnerable and fricked up to show off just how badly the X-parasite fricks people up. Her suit looking like someone that survived an acid attack displays that incredibly high threat level.
