Same. I remember playing FF8 late into the night one summer evening, to the point my parents walked into the living room and asked why the frick I'm still awake. Turned out it was morning.
I can probably all the games that have ever had that effect on me rn: >Resident Evil 4, original and remake >Sly 1, 2 and 3 >Bully >Red Dead Redemption 1 & 2 >Bloodborne >The Evil Within 2 >Infamous 2
I think that's it.
I couldn't stop playing because it was so good and I even refused to sleep. My mind eventually drifted off and I fell asleep in the chair with the controller in my hand. The one and only time that ever happened. 🙂
Good thread, I’ve had a few over the years.
StarCraft
AoE2
Diablo 2
Metroid Prime
Phantasy Star Online
Wow
Counterstrike
Mario odyssey
My basic ass list. Getting old sucks, it’s just more and more existential dread as the years go by and it’s hard to enjoy shit. I really did find Mario odyssey so frickin comfy; I would rather have odyssey 2 than a dozen nuzeldas. Can’t believe no indies have done this to me. That’s mostly what I play nowadays.
Objectively not the best game there is, but I remember playing Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning for 20 hours straight, eating only snacks and taking toilet breaks when needed.
A bit shameful, but it was Dead Island back when it was released. I played for 11 hours straight and stopped at 5am.
Unsurprisingly, i got a fever when I woke up and my parents grounded me to frick while i was burning.
Super Bomberman and Worms 2.
I probably did it with stuff like Ultima IV too, but even as an adult playing Bomberman and Worms with friends has had that affect on me.
you're joking, right? the game has you walk hundreds of miles back and forth, and sometimes crawl miles to be safe. the pace is so disgustingly slow that it's not worth the interesting story. only game i have ever considered watching a playthrough of
>you're joking, right?
I am not, that much I can assure you.
Me, my wife, and all my friends played the game like ~12 hours a day, nonstop, every time we started. It's one of the most captivating, immersive and fun games we've played in a long while. My first playthrough took me a sweet 160 hours, and no, I did not "Platinum" anything.
>muh story
It's all about that kickass gameplay, sonny Jim. I played it for WEEKS without seeing a single cutscene.
The fact that the game delivers the main bulk of its subtext, its message, via the gameplay elements also elevates it to a status of true art piece.
>watching games >ever
Your opinion is instantly discarded as trash, and once again I praise the Lord for not being born as a tasteless ADHD scitzo.
when skyrim came out, I skipped sleep and just played it for hours
it was my first real open-world game, I was mesmerized and amazed, just running around and killing shit
still love it
Ragnarök Online
Haven't played in many years, but I've played an ungodly amount of time and sacrificed sleep for it.
Portal 2
Started playing in the evening. Didn't really plan on playing for long but I ended up going through the game in one single sitting and not getting any sleep that night. It was just so good.
>Factorio
Literally made me miss my final exam. I had to take a makeup exam for it. >Satisfactory
Missed a day of work because of it. Got reprimanded for not calling in sick before the workday started.
Heroes of Might and Magic 3
Jagged Alliance 2
Civilization 2 / Alpha Centauri
Basically everything where you can say 'just one more turn' is pretty dangerous for your sleep cycle
Powerstone 1+2. First game I ever stayed up and pulled an all nighter at my friends house. Other games include:
UT99
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2
CS:Source - especially the first time I found zombie mod
Orange Box
Fusion Frenzy
Serious Sam Next Encounter multiplayer for gamecube
Runescape
I've been looking for another comfy game to play and when I bought Roots of Pacha from the Steam sale I got absolutely addicted. Pretty promising indieshit farming game.
KOTOR back in high school was my first, I remember I had just found the Kashyyyk star map when I alt-tabbed and noticed it was 4AM on a school night, that's really horrifying the first time. If you liked Star Wars, the last time something of that scale came out was Tie Fighter
It didn't help I just got a 9800 Pro for Christmas, so I was going apeshit on everything a Geforce MX struggled with, I did the same with the newly-moddable System Shock 2 and Doom 3 after. WoW happened later that year, and it probably would've gotten bad enough for me to be held back if I wasn't graduating a year later. That was 2006, and missing sleep over vidya is still a semi-frequent thing
The only time I've played a game that long and wasn't able to go to sleep afterward was when I got Halo Reach. Played it from midnight launch until school in the morning.
Last summer I worked outside for 12h every day, then spent the evening playing Tales of Arise, and often kept playing deep into the night. I got comfy memories of that time. Well earned relaxation with some food and drink, and a great game.

How, shit like that makes me fall asleep earlier than usual if anything
Sex
Does it have cheat codes?
played it recently for the first time
was not enjoyable and felt pretty numb the whole time
i want my fricking wizard powers back
anyway i guess in terms of vidya it would be wolfestein new order, that was pretty good
Repetitive gameplay and shitty escort quests also can't skip cutscene at the end
P2W, too, unless you're an RNG GOD like me
I agree sex with your mom is amazing
Rimworld
amphetamine and Euro Truck Sim 2
sounds like the most boring use of powder ever
Skyrim
AC4 black flag
Witcher 3(blood and wine part)
I actually was supprised to see the sun rise
🙁 im so sorry

You! I like you.
I played Catherine Full Body for 10 hours straight, from the middle of night to morning. That game was a fricking roller coaster.
FB was a massive downgrade from the OG/Classic. I pity the fools who started with the demake.
Factorio
Ended up staying up 41 hours when I first got into it.
Ocarina of Time.
I couldn't stop playing because it was so good and I even refused to sleep. My mind eventually drifted off and I fell asleep in the chair with the controller in my hand. The one and only time that ever happened. 🙂

i see. the problem is not the game.
good day, lads, as I am off to work.
e-boy streams are not "work", troony.
That's right, back to work wagie.
I played it to completion three times, easily have well over 400 hours in it, and I'm thinking of doing a 4th playthrough with the directors cut.
You wouldn't walk 500 miles and you wouldn't walk 500 more?
you're not supposed to lie on Ganker anon

For this year, it’s Sekiro, VTMB, Deus Ex, and Elden Ring.
I remember suffering sleep deprivation for a week because of them. (Longer for ER)

Fable 2 when I was 12 felt fricking alpha my first time pulling an all nighter. Now I never stay up past 12 unless its a weekend. I'm close to 30
