3 is better but I prefer world
Both are god-tier, while some may say you can invalidate World with just the Cape and understanding how to fly, that requires some skill to pull off.
I'm always going to be loyal to 3. Pretty much entirely because of the artwork(and because it's what I played first and because I percieve it as the underdog)
When I say the artwork of SMB3 I mean more specifically SMA4. Though maybe that doesn't count as points towards 3.
>I percieve it as the underdog)
How? Literally every time this debate resurfaces, it's 90% people constantly wailing on World's wrongdoings.
my first game ever was super mario world but i played super mario bros 3 in the gba and i liked everything about it more than world. World was 2 ez
Super Mario World is an Adventure
Super Mario Bros 3 is a Journey
mario if he real
mario if he real
mario if he real.
mario if he real
Super Mario World
Mario if he real
mario if he real
mario if he real
mario if he real
mario if he real
mario if he real
hope for you that this will work anon, otherwise i will find you and beat you.
mario if he real
Mario if he real

mario if he real
I wish it was like, the SNES graphics for 3 but done properly and not All-Stars style.
Either way 3 is based
It's not even a debate.
3 is better by every metric sans difficulty and even that only applies to star world stuff in world.
Star Road and the reskin you get for beating it are bigger on their own than SMB3:
SMW is better by every metric, especially blue Yoshi's ability to fly while holding any color of shell in his mouth.
Bigger does not equal better.
3 > World, deal with it and cry.
Everything from the 90s AKA dea is better than everything from the 80s and the 2000s combined.
I like 3's level design better, but world's overworld and secret exit stuff better
I hate 3, I have no idea how it's considered a classic
I hate how it interrupt you with shitty minigames, I hate how it has so many random power up like the frog suit and the one that turns you into a statue, I hate the music
>random power up like the frog suit
Since when are random power ups bad? Also the frog suit is god tier in underwater levels
okay
Why did Mario have black overalls and not blue in 3???
What the frick is up with that shit???
Color palette limitations. NES sprites can only display 4 colors, including transparency when applicable. They wanted Mario to have a black outline, so his overalls needed to be black as well.
So then why did he have blue ones in all stars moron
Because that's a super Nintendo game, you fricking troglodyte
have a nice day.
World is more comfy and I prefer the graphics, sound and aesthetic more.
ias a kid I preferred World simply because I didn't like mashing the A button so I preferred the Cape to the Raccoon Leaf (also for aesthetic reasons I guess)
now that I actually have taste it's 3 and it's not close
3 is and also was a piece of shit, so there is no debate. The only game in the series worse than 3 is 64.
3 has more creative world gimmicks and commits to them but overall the gameplay in world is much nicer.
Sonic mogs both.
3
3's level design is way more varied, the levels in World all look and play the same
NES games just aren't as good as SNES games; people may disagree but the NES was the bridging gap between unplayable atari garbage and modern video games and most of the time, they were pretty trashy. Except SMB3 but it being an NES game, with the flaws of the system, just make it inferior to Super Mario World
3:
>variety of worlds
>variety of enemies
>variety of powerups
>variety of bonus stages
>actually challenging
World:
>Yoshi
>branching paths
SMB3's OST isn't worth a frick.
The airship music was tight though.
Holy shit you have awful taste.
You are not worth a frick.
>doesn't like I CUM
3's levels are more consistent and well-crafted. Many of World's levels just seem to be haphazardly slapped together and aren't fun to play through. The only gameplay advantage SMW has is that you can return to previously beaten worlds
This again? I swear this was posted just the other day. Anyway, the answer is SMB3. More level theme variety than grass, grass, and more grass, and the same goes for the soundtrack having more than one song.
SMB3 is better, but Sonic 3 & Knuckles shits on both
As a Sonicgay who only just started playing Mario for the first time a few months ago, I preferred World.
Neither game was exactly hard, they had their moments, but World felt more rewarding, going around and exploring to find all the alternate routes I could. Getting into the special world before I even got through Vanilla Dome was cool as frick.
SMB3 is in a close 3rd though.
World, if only I really enjoyed doing dumb shit like dragging blue yoshi to maps he shouldnt be.
Going back to old stages and finding moons.
In SMB3 it always felt like theres no reason to explore even though there was at times, it just felt like I had to b-line to the end if im running out of time to play.
world levels feel like rehashes of the same 5 levels while 3 levels are memorable and are unique the shoe literally only appears on one level
It's so obviously world I can't take anyone seriously who thinks otherwise
Best of both worlds
That's ⅓ of All Stars: That's literall ⅓ of a SNES port.
No, I don't: You have the suckiest taste possible for not hating all 80s things on principle.
NTA but so what? It's the best way to experience SMB3. More levels, voice acting, and power-ups.
3 is better, it's more refined, tighter level design and much better power up balance
both are still fantastic games
Super Mario World was good, but Super Mario Bros 3 was fricking amazing.
Allstars
3 had better power ups. World seems so barebones but I like the overworld better. 3 just had better soul.
Impossible question to answer fairly. I grew up playing 3 on my Dad's Nintendo and didn't play World until I was in Middle School.
I'm still going to say objectively 3 is a stronger game than world.
3 easily how is this a contest? 3 has more stage variety, better powerups and more songs. SMW's entire soundtrack is re-arranges of one fricking melody it's tedious as shit. World has Yoshi and some nice physics but that's about it. It was a rushed out the door tech demo for the SNES whereas Mario 3 was a culmination of everything the NES could do. If they made a proper World 2 at the end of the SNES lifespan maybe then we'd have a real comparison on our hands.
Power-ups are too trivial in SMW. You can keep an item in reserve, you can re-enter levels and immediately exit them after obtaining your desired items, and the levels themselves have way too many ! boxes. With very little effort, you can grab a couple of feathers (and a Yoshi if you so desire). You can fly over half of the levels without even seeing an enemy. Most of the levels that you *can't* fly over are kind of boring. I wasn't a a fan of the underground levels with the rising-and-falling yellow stuff. Forced-scrolling levels are tedious when they're slow-moving.
The power-ups in SMB3 actually felt important, so you had to be careful with how you used them. The levels felt more creative, in general, and it offered more surprises.
They're both classics, but SMB3 is the clear winner.
3 is just better.
The real ludo connoisseur debate is 1 vs. 3.
I like both.
Do I have to pick aside?
3 is more impressive as an NES game but World is the more enjoyable experience. I don't like the bite-sized level design of 3. The game is lacking in color and overall it just pisses me off.
I find World to be a step back because of the aesthetics. There's so many samey levels and they all run together in my mind, whereas 3 had better theming all around. World still plays fine and has a really good area in it, though. (Forest of Illusion)
I hated the Boo levels in World.
World is the worst of the entire 2D series (3D need not apply at all because they're all shatformers).
The only one worth playing on the SNES is Yoshi's Island.
world has more interesting levels
3 is a more standard mario game but it might be the best one when it comes to that
You can save your progress in World.
World wins.
3
I honestly didn't even like world that much.
