I meant the infrastructure itself. You spend way more time waiting than playing.
t. pentaBlack person getting rammed at every last lap.
wdym
Good, good. Now watch this.
Sorry for the low quality webm, I don't have the original file anymore.
that rest of the lobby got replaced by CPU, I presume
how'd the rest of the race go, did the stage eventually load in correctly?
No, eventually I had to quit myself because I couldn't see where I was going.
that's hilarious
No, whenever that happens the rest of the track never loads in
Only that starting section is visible
He's not wrong
That shit was barely holding itself together and there are plenty of cases where it didn't
It did create some wild races though
dude the online was horrible they dropped the ball hard
To be fair, if you don't luck out on escaping from all the shitters who pop items the second they get them, you're probably gonna have a terrible time. For such a skill based kart racer, I always wanted them to add the ability to turn off debilitating items, but alas, the game's life cycle came and went with no such changes. Playing online was miserable by default anyway because of fricking load times though. This shit still needs a definitive port with all the shit either unlocked or relegated to purely unlockables and improved load times. Literally my two biggest issues with the game.
>This shit still needs a definitive port with all the shit either unlocked or relegated to purely unlockables and improved load times. Literally my two biggest issues with the game.
so basically the emulated version of nitro fueled on yuzu
gotcha
I want to play against other people you moron.
get your friends on the emulated version then.
I just want sequal. There's no racer that feels as good to play.
Friends are not down to race daily homosexual.
Specifically because I'm much better than them.
then eat shit and weep at the lack of a pc port.
better yet, go beg iron galaxy to make one like reddit is doing.
I don't want a PC port, I want a sequal.
a sequel of what, they ported all the fricking maps from nitro cart
They made buncha new ones
Maybe your shitty connection is the problem.
anon, the room dies whenever somebody leaves during the countdown when it's in the red.
Too bad
The devs are in the cod mines
I don't want a sequel to NF anymore as the original devs at Beenox that made it are no longer there, it's honestly been too long
PS4 version is still alive and well anon if you want to play with others
though if there's anything you should be practicing it's the original CTR because that's getting the actual PC port thanks to the decomp
OG CTR is already 100% decomped and like 40% rewritten
you're delusional if you think they will make a pc port of the original ctr
Not an official port, it's a decompilation by fans.
literally a copy of emulated parts of the psx emulator.
doesn't count.
You need to be 18+ to post here.
have you been living under a rock anon
>the original CTR because that's getting the actual PC port thanks to the decomp
>OG CTR is already 100% decomped and like 40% rewritten
Did they make a GitHub/Lab/Gud repo for it yet?
I played a ton back then and unlocked everything both in the GPs and the item shop including the top 5% decals, but I'd wager over half the time was spent in loading screens. It was aggravating whenever you'd have to wait a minute after everyone joined to start loading the race and the host would disconnect a few seconds before then. Peer to peer with no host migration is ridiculous.
Yeah, I think they put the minimum amount of effort into CTR's online mode, with there only being single races and battles. I've heard that the online is even more fricked now due to PS5 users loading faster than PS4 users.
Buggy sometimes. But its playable.
really?
I actually tried this on PS5 the other day to see if the load times were less atrocious than what they were on ps4, as well as the framerate
turns out they're both shit on the ps5 as well, truly a disgrace of a game
They never optimized the game for PS5, but CTR does load slightly faster on it, but that causes a bug in online races where PS5 users load faster than PS4 users, so the PS4 users get kicked out of the race.
Pros:
Got rid of froggy-ing
airbrake no longer nukes reserves
more characters
stats no longer tied to character
Nitro wheels
Best way to play Nitro Kart tracks
blue fire is overall a positive despite totally changing the flow of Cortex Castle and N-gin Labs
Velo and Dev ghosts
Cons:
Worse visual style and lighting than PS1
Turning is far worse, to the point that Speed in ps1 has better handling than Turn in NF
weird geometry
Sewer speedway
loading times
MTX
Original CTR is the best way to play the CTR tracks, but the other half of NF's track make it worth picking up.
Of course the multiplayer in a time trial game is going to be half baked...
said no one (without mental illness) ever.
>Crash Team Racing
>there are no teams
You can race as teams.
You team with your kart. homosexual
The team refers to the characters teaming up to beat oxide. Although they could have added the team feature from CNK since they added everything else from that game
I am more of a Coco Team Racer myself
It is. Too bad it's been butchered to hell because of the shoddy servers and Activision don't want to fix it.
What servers? The game is entirely p2p, there are no servers.
It really is. I don't know if the original CTR had anything over the NF remake (never played the original), but I've heard its really close to the original.
My favorire kart racing games before were Diddy Kong Racing, then Mario Kart DS, and Double Dash being in close third. CTR:NF takes the cake in terms of gameplay and content.
ami's wumpas
see, here's a guy that appreciates quality kart racing. DS and DD! are great.
I can't imagine being in your shoes and never playing the original.
I definitely recommend it, its my favorite game. But the remake did such a good job that idk what the original offers.
I'll argue Its worth a playthrough for the crisp visuals and story that can be beaten in a few hours. Plus its satisfying to 100% so the smaller package has completionist appeal. also playstation historical curiosity.
The game is wicked smooth, you'll be shocked how similar it really is to NF (which feels amazing. Imagine how it felt in '99 on ps1. Imagine how maddening it was that everyone and their mothers preferred mk64 when such bandicoot perfection existed)
NF is defintely more similar to CTR than PS2 nitrokart. NK isnt great, NF redeemed its tracks.
thats not a kart racer. idk where all you whiney GX fans came from but its starting to be annoying. (I love GX, X, and 99. Pls stop being an elitist absolutist. I used to be like you and lost friends because I shat on MKwii for being too casual. Pls just cherish all racing games and quit bein autistic)
as a CTR and Crash trilogy mega fan, I think Nitrofueled (Beenox) did a much better job than N.Sane trilogy. beenox could've saved crash but activision wont port their game to PC and gave the IP to goys for zog and now we suffer.
Oh yeah, I was thinking of playing the original for the longest time until the remake was announced. I'm really happy with how the remake came out, had a blast when the Grand Prixes were going on.
>Imagine how maddening it was that everyone and their mothers preferred mk64 when
Agreed. I didn't play Mario Kart 64 until much later and I was shocked with how bare bones it was compared to others at the time. Diddy Kong Racing is a much better game (3x I'd argue) than it and came out only like a year or so afterwards. Thankfully the later Mario Kart games got better.

No frick that stage
I find the high skill ceiling in regards to pulling off the shortcuts to be highly satisfying, the music is hectic, the story behind it is fun what with the war going on in the background adding to the chaos, the pacing is perfect, and it's one of those courses where it's an exhilarating close match if you're at an equal skill level with your opponent. An absolute blast for me.
Filtered. Best bonus stage alongside Megamix Mania and very satisfying to master.
Online is too skill based. I know how drift, but some sweat tryhards trying too beat dev time. I just want some casual fun.
they needed to separate online into competitive and casual, with casual having no usf and way more items that knock off the person in first place, and comp having no items and full usf.
Totally agree
>I want blue shells
have a nice day
Online is fricked regardless of skill tbh. The item RNG and laggy weapons during the first 15-30 secs of the race will generally frick most of the players out of their reserves, and 2 or 3 players will end up so far ahead of the pack that even equally skilled players will have little chance to catch up, especially if it's a USF track.
It's a good time trial simulator but not very good for some casual online kart racing fun. Going fast is cool but it's so limited so it's kinda impossible to recover sometimes
>It's a good time trial simulator but not very good for some casual online kart racing fun.
I agree. I really like CTR as a single player racer, but I think there's not much multiplayer balance because there's too much disparity between skilled and unskilled players.
>disparity
the problem is not the "skill cap." it's that you need to play speedtroony-tier autistic minigames if you don't want to cripple yourself.
same problem befell Crash 4 when the morons at cucks for bob deliberately made dashing+spinning faster than sprinting.
What minigame do you mean? Boosting has been a core mechanic since the first one
frame-perfect timing on boosts and reserves autism.
drop your reserves? kiss 1st place goodbye unless moron at the front fricks up too.
I don't think there's really anything deep to the reserves, you just have some or don't. Although it would probably be better if there was a meter indicating when you're running out. The boosting is just tapping a button so I'm not sure it's that special either, it's been there since the PS1 game
>going fast in a game about going fast is autistic troony speedrunning
>any boost mechanic that isn't "hold drift button to win" is a minigame
>having the gall to compare it with the train wreck that is IAT
Boy I hope you dont look at the genre you're b***hing ahout or you'll find yourself looking awfully silly.
>nooooooo comparisons don't count
it's a stupid speedtroony minigame. I don't remember NFS requiring you to chain turbos while looking at a fricking meter.
Do you want to b***h about mashing left-right to driftboost in Mario Kart too? If you just want to drive lines, go play a boring realistic sim instead of an arcade racer.
Literal children were able to understand CTR's boosting mechanics in 99, are you still having trouble almost 25 years later?
>Literal children were able to understand CTR's boosting mechanics in 99
You forgot the part about the SF/USF autism that no one knew about and only got popular in the months leading up to NF's release
Anon… it's okay if you weren't born back then but we've been playing this for two decades now
https://www.neoseeker.com/forums/1161/t615745-sacred-fire-ultimate-saffi-fire/
>we
you mean a group of tens of autists on an online forum, unlike the hundreds of thousands who played the game? way to undermine your argument.
What undermining? Are you stupid? This was discovered early in the game's life and it's legitimately impossible to beat oxide on the time trial challenges without knowing how to take advantage of it. You would get your ass wiped, search online and find info about the game on early internet.
You’re a confirmed zoomzoom, every game was like this on the 90s and early 00s because there wasn't youtube, reddit, twitter and your normie feeds, mechanics were taken advantage of and shared by word of mouth and players that cared about games beyond the surface level.
You're just a shit player, go back to mario kart.
>USF and reserves
what the frick are you talking about? I don't remember maintaining a turbo for an entire fricking race, let alone an entire lap
Reserves werent calculated the same as in NF but USF (or sapphi fire back in the day) was always discussed, theres nothing wrong with you having played casually as a child but that doesnt mean these things didnt exist out of your sphere of knowledge for frick sake anon.
And yet NF made it even easier to understand and hes still having trouble.
Its literally just "do you want to continue going fast?" and this dumbass answers 'no'
You can comlete normal story mod on ps1 without drifting. I did it in 00s.
That's nice sweetie, but people online won't just race like morons in a straight line without hopping.
>looking at a meter
shitter detected, you get it by feel pretty quick.
CGA bear girl
alot of the problems with items in NF get fixed if you set the laps to 5, especially with short courses
kinda wish beenox did that for online because 3 laps goes by really quickly even on the longer tracks like electron avenue
not on pc, almost it's only fault
the shitty online store can suck dick
Has to be my fave game of the PS4 era. The whole game was perfect. It was the best celebration of Crash ever. All the random characters being added monthly. Characters from random shitty mobile games. All the extra tracks. It has to be the only remake/remaster to completely outdo the original in every single way. Just perfect. The monthly GP updates were fantastic, real comfy time waiting for the new shit to be announced.
>Game was so good the devs got sent to the CoD mines
Makes me cry every time...
This was from Beenox, moronissimo
They're stuck in the CoD mines too. Only Toys for Bob still gets to poke their heads out.
I have been practicing nonstop on the emulated version with yuzu.
If the game ever comes out on PC, it will be a bloodbath.
This is a threat.
Its never coming to PC
>CTRNF announced
>don't bother buying it for console because every fricking other one of these remakes just got ported to PC after like a year
>year passes
>instead of porting it to PC they just spent all the time shitting it up with cosmetics and microtransactions like they said they wouldn't
At this point I refuse to just buy it on PS4 out of principle, frick these lying devs.
I completely avoided this game because of the predatory GAAS features
It was reasonable to get everything just by playing back when the "seasons" were still happening, completing the Grand Prix/battle pass gave you enough coin to empty out the shop too. Now though, I think shit's fricked. There are still bonus payouts but they're much lower.
WHERE IS THE PC VERSION YOU FRICKING NIGGEEEEEEEEERS AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Just wait for the anniversary announcement bro
are we gonna talk about the guy who made a crash general on /vg/ and only replied to himself?
i wouldn't be surprised if he made this thread too
Team Sonic Racing is better.
Original was better.
Aren't the driving handling and physics different from the original? Or am I confusing it with the remake trilogy?
>Aren't the driving handling and physics different from the original?
They are, here's a list of big changes
>NF has a faster base speed and reserves drain faster than in OG
>NF changes USF to be a boost state you can keep up with reserves whenever you hit the super turbo pads. This is why people call it blue fire instead of usf like they did early on in NFs life.
>U turns got buffed in NF as it no longer kills your reserves.
>NF adds in air braking, which pauses your cart in the air and lets you turn it, doesn't kill reserves.
>NF adds an extra tier of sacred fire (that's not in OG) that's used on specific boost pads on certain tracks like mystery caves and cortex castle. This works like normal SF, but is just a little faster.
Smaller changes
>Powerslide angles are different for all engines
>Wheels turn slower than in OG
>Jump physics are more obviously scripted than feeling organic in OG e.g. sewer speedway sc, oxide station's big jumps because of NFs speed increase etc.
>Course hazards are already active the instant the race loads instead of being active when the race itself starts.
Too lazy to type more
Your stupid skill cap autism kills games. No one's gonna bother to lab tracks for hours on end to stand a chance at not being last.
Don't blame people for wanting to get good at a game with deep enough mechanics to justify it. Blame the developers and publisher for making shit online with no matchmaking nor distinction between casual and ranked despite the game including extremely hard time trials that spur you to learn the ins and outs of every track and mechanic.
Except all the people who obviously do? Did you think for five seconds before posting? There will always be good players who put the effort in.
It's honestly disgusting how people can say casual shit like this on this board now and no one even bats an eye. You can't have a thread about ANY vaguely challenging multiplayer game without some guy b***hing 'I play games to wind down this feels like work waahhhh' and other casual gamer shit.
>There will always be 1 or 2 autists who learn the game in and out
Enjoy your dead game, just like RTS and fighting games.
Untrue, loads of people do. Basically anyone with an attention span who actually enjoys video games. But even if it was true that's better than it being dumbed down and made into a mockery of itself to appeal to casuals who will drop the game in a week to play the next 'new thing'. I am happy you people like you got filtered. Go play one of the countless games made for people like you instead of ruining things for others.
Time trial try hards spoils game for everybody, he is right. Normal people dont play same map x100 times.
Many many people. They win 4/5 races. Literally game breaker cancer.
Do you think I want to play against noobs either?
The issue here is lack of matchmaking, it's been stated 1000 times.
The problem with your moronic reserves system is it creates an incorrigible between players who were lucky enough to gain a bit on the rest of the pack. The game turns into a single-player racer at that point, and they have basically nothing to fear as long as they don't slip up.
Once again, it's not about skill caps, it's about being unable to catch up. That, and the annoyingly distracting speedtroony minigames which are probably on par with QTEs.
>an incorrigible
an incorrigible gap
Why do you care when it's obvious you don't enjoy it? If you had matchmaking or a different game mode to pair with other handicapped morons you could play that and forget about reserve autism that some of us like.
Yes, i want to play 8 players online time trial. What about it? Why would you care about that if you had the way to engage with the game in the way you want?
The reserve system is perfectly fine.
>I enjoy not interacting with other players
Might as well play offline time trial vs ghosts homosexual.
Keep seething and git gud anon, what can I say
The issues you're describing are easily fixable with dedicated servers that allow items to properly track and hit players. It's not a fault of the reserve system, it's a fault of stingy CEOS withholding funding.
its so fricking fun to get good at ctrnf tho man.
Doesn't original ctr also have air brake? You do it on papu pyramid to use the shortcut at the end of the lap to skip the last portion. It does kill your reserves.
That's a U-Turn you do for that SC not an air brake
Air brake doesn't exist in OG
I just looked it up and turns out I have never used air braking. Thought it was the name for u turning while on a big jump like the situation I described, and u turning was only when you did it at floor level.
Well, doesn't really seem all that useful compared to u turning really.
ruined by reserves autism.
that's not f-zero gx
>anon is upset that people that know the basic controls are better than he is so that means the game is dead
man that's some projection anon but just so you know even kart racers like mario kart can have you never win if the other guy has a better build and better lines than you even if you item spam
but let's be honest, you're just upset because you see pic rel all the time in every racing game you play don't ya
too bad we are never getting it on pc.
>not on pc
Doesn't exist to me
You're right.
I am STILL mad that it never officially came to PC.
the good old days
Well?
>dragon mines
>0 votes
Every single time
What's the worst CTR track and why is it Dingo Canyon?
Dragon Mines is worse.
is the game still full of 99% of walls that will kill your reserves instantly and then 1% magic walls where you can ram into them or even go flying up them without penalty and there is no way of knowing which wall is which until you try it
nah they fixed wall hitboxes in the beenox gp
Sonic Robo Blast 2 Kart unironically mogs every other kart racer in existence. Once the spinoff, Eggman's Sneed Cup or whatever, comes out, it's over for all other racing games.
What is USF?
when you run over a speed pad you get a boost
USF is the fastest type of boost you can get.
if you were chaining boosts before going on the pad you can maintain the pad boost.
if you're really good at the game you can hold the fastest boosts for the entire lap.
*blocks your path*
this game is doodoo garbage and it's time to stop pretending it's not
no
great game, scratches a very different itch though.
>not available on PC
Hmmmm, I wonder if keeping it away from the cancer of the industry has anything to do with it
>Hmmmm, I wonder if keeping it away from the cancer of the industry has anything to do with it
That would make sense if it didn't have a SneedStation and Fisher Price versions, but it does so.
>2023
>still thinking sneed is funny
Tell me youre an unlikable no friend incel homosexual without telling me
It's an Activision game moron
