I think BDSP is a very good Pokemon game and a very good remake, and I'm tired of people saying the opposite. People who probably haven't even played BDSP, in most cases.
The main criticisms I read about BDSP are the following:

>No Battle Frontier
This is people pretending the Battle Frontier was anything more than 5 slightly modified Battle Towers, and also ignoring how good the BDSP Battle Tower actually is
>No Distortion World
As if the Distortion World wasn't just a glorified empty room with nothing to do, that you can only visit ONCE anyway
>Ugly graphics
This is dumb graphic gays pretending the game doesn't look cute
>Forced Exp Share
Anyone complaining about this is just dumb. It's an objective improvement.

FPBP. I can’t believe there are people out there who think BDSP look acceptable. And due to the 3D movement on a 1:1 recreation of a 2D grid it even plays worse than the originals. Pokegays really out there getting snagged on the geometry every two steps saying “this is fine.” I hate this franchise.

You're putting way too much thought into this. A lot of us just never bothered to play it when we sawcit was a lie effort outsourced project, and we had Legends to buy instead around the same time.
The only thing that looked bad to me was the forced affection mechanic.
But that's not a minor issue, it would completely frick up how I usually play these games and add tedium where there was nice before, unless I want to be overpowered for the whole game.
I didn't analyze this shit. It looked ugly and was apparently glitchy and I didn't like Gen 4 much in the first place. So I didn't buy it.
The maps are fricked and the graphics are fricked, it’s not been adapted to 8d movement and the bigger resolution at all

Why make a DP remake instead of essentially a Platinum remake, when Platinum is by and far the superior version.
The Distortion World is such a unique and iconic place, not including it properly is just awful.
The Battle Frontier made for an almost endless amount of content, and now imagine that content but with modern means to breed Pokémon and with online play to further enrich the different battle modes. Also, you could have the stat trainers (aka the five trainers you meet throughout the game that walk with you) as partners and you could rematch them.
The Villa was a small little bonus feature for the end game and could have been expanded instead of cut.
Platinum added a few story scenes and especially a Cyrus battle and the Platinum story is undoubtedly superior to DP.
The Platinum gym leader teams were overall much better, and so were the updated gym layouts.
Platinum had Looker, one of the most beloved and iconic Pokémon characters ever.
Platinum had TONS of small improvements, like the second Poketch button, added design and decoration elements and updated designs like the post game island actually looking unique and tropical, Team Galactic buildings having a much more distinct design, or the Elite 4 rooms looking more visually interesting, the vs recorder, WiFi Plaza, a proper GTS and so on.
Platinum had a much better regional dex including Pokémon like Rotom, Eevee or Gliscor being available before the E4.
Literally the only piece of content where you could argue that it's not a direct improvement is the change of the order of gyms. Everything else is straight-up an improvement over DP.
They could have included ALL of this in BDSP and still made it essentially a DP remake by putting the Distortion World into a post game episode like they did with Rayquaza in ORAS.
Remaking DP instead of essentially Platinum is a huge waste of potential.
And on top of all that....BDSP doesn't even do a good job to be an all faithful DP remake. Instead of the Gen 4 contests, but visually improved you get a braindead one-button two-input strategically barren visually dead boring rhythm game. Instead of improved secret bases like in ORAS you get most of the secret base content REMOVED, including capture the flag, sphere burying and direct player interaction, when especially the last point would have been great to exchange decoration items, including the statues.
The Battle Tower used to have multi Battles as well as the option to download npc versions of other players' teams as tower opponents. Both are gone for the remake.
And the forced exp share and obnoxious affection system throw off the game balance and turn the game into a complete brainless cakewalk up until the E4.
We got shafted so hard. Mods can't even fix this, unless they decompile the game and then someone makes a PC port, then following that someone would need to fix the ugly visuals with a mod, then improve all the issues and bring it up to Plat standard.
The people making this shit are such worthless morons. We have shit like fortnite where you can edit the map online with other people in real time and they can't add interactivity to secret bases. It's extremely pathetic.

I have BD. I played it once, realized it had no online GTS or pokemon home integration, and now it's been sitting on my shelf since launch week. One of the best things about D/P/P was the GTS and online battling.
Course this may have all changed. Idk I haven't been following news on it and I barely touch my Switch anymore since getting a Steam Deck.

That isnt to say that BDSP wont be good in the future. Modders are doing a metric frickton for the game like adding all Pokemon, Megas, removing forced EXP all, proper Pokemon scaling and de-chibification of the overworld characters, 60fps. Even then Im probably missing a lot.
