It seems like a push to force gamers to use subscription services imo.

Not that anon but AAAs aren't doing it because of inflation, they're really doing it because they want to justify more exorbitant budgets. Inflation is only an excuse.

This is only because wages haven't kept up with inflation, if they priced games according to actual inflation they would cost $140 and everyone would pirate / find other hobbies

No one should buy like 10 vidyas a year anyway. Those people with huge backlock are just dumb consumer.

Maybe there's a misunderstand here. A good video-game must have a huge replay-value/fun factor, therefore it does worth 70 bucks. But those AAA cinematic experience titles don't worth shit nore any second of your time.

probably is majority of the industry has forgotten that having fun and replayability are fundamental parts of your game

Just don't buy those games. Only standard game that's done it on the Nintendo side that doesn't come with additional hardware or something is TotK. MS still doesn't standardize at that price either as far as I know. Push back against Sony and affiliates and it shouldn't get standardized.

Just wait a couple of months and you can get them for peanuts.
If it's a nintendo game (they hold their value), buy it physical, then you can sell it when you're done and not lose a single dollar.

The industry has been doing it for a while now. Journalists have helped them slowly sow the seeds in gamers' mind. The justification is that game development is more expensive, when the truth is that it's literally never been cheaper to develop a game. AAA studios are just trying to justify all the costs they sink into graphics and marketing, and it's bullshit that consumers should foot the bill.

Most people live unconsciously, by instinct. And their instincts tell them to have a high position in society, a status. To buy shit at overpriced prices is status. Like, look, I can afford to spend $70 on shit, so I'm rich! So what if it stinks? So what if it's not tasty? The main thing is that I can. For the same reason people buy products from Apple, branded clothing and other things. Have you noticed that any criticism of the wild prices, these people immediately begin to shout that you just do not have the money? An adequate person would just wag his finger at his temple, looking at this.
