I find the game to be enjoyable, but it is missing elements I liked a lot from previous games. Some of the toned down designs are lame too.
Soundtrack is great though, as usual. That said, i did genuinely uninstall after the Bridget BS, and I probably won't come back. Every time that game is discussed anymore it only brings it the absolutely worst most insufferable people. Their continued pandering makes sure they stick around too.

At the end of the day, there was no correct way to progress Bridget's story because it was already done. There was no winning and if Bridget never came back at least discussion would be focused on the game and the more people make it about what Bridget has underneath the dress, the more attention gets brought to Bridget and the more every other character suffers in representation. Outside of the FGC oriented competitive types, not many older GG players stuck around. None of my longtime fighting game buddies wanted to play the game at meetups after half a year with the game. There wasn't much enthusiasm near launch either as most just didn't like what ArcSys did with the system or the characters.

Yeah, basically. I got into GG with Xrd, loved the shit out of it after finally finding out what game so many characters I liked the design of, came out of. Went back, played the older games just to get a feel of how things progressed after falling into the abyss that the OST is. Get into Strive, its okay, servers suck, oh well, OST is banging.
Then Bridget. I try to play for a week or two after he's released, if I get challenged by bridget players, I decline out of spite and disgust, then some psychotic Bridget player spam reports me and Guilty Gear is now basically dead for me.
I've read that interview and part of me holds out that Daisuke is intentionally being misunderstood or he had other intentions with bridget, but he dropped the ball, hard, and I have no faith in him anymore.

The cold honest truth to it all, is that despite hipsters latching onto the series with Strive, and Arcsystem trying to memory hole, is that Guilty Gear has always kind of been second fiddle to Blazblue despite it being born from Arcsytem losing rights to Guilty Gear. It's funny really, it's kind of like if Soul Calibur was Namco's biggest breadwinner instead of Tekken.
Soulcalibur wasn't built off of standing in/replacing Tekken and is actually distinct in it's gameplay, setting, and other offerings.
BlazBlue was literally "we want to make a new Guilty Gear game but can't" so it learned/evolved from he progress Guilty Gear has made but with the freedom to change things you otherwise wouldn't be able to if you made a sequel to Guilty Gear.

The series is fricking doomed to constant squabbles about playtime, arguments about when the series was or wasn't gay, gaslighting about changes and quality of the various elements of the game, and will have an orbiting group of fervent defenders for as long it pays lip service to protected identities or for as long as those identities have clout.
What a sad state of affairs for what was just a neat little niche series.
Random woman (coincidentally Axl's girlfriend from another timeline) transported across dimensions and gone insane due to immense power, unchecked time travel, and possibly immortality. With no purpose in life, I-No wishes to bring humanity to the brink of extinction just to see how they might manage to survive and evolve past that point. I-No practically sees herself as a near-godlike being, or at least easily within that potential, and refuses to rest without finding a proper use of her status.
Gameplay wise, she uses a lot of dirty tricks and unconventional approaches to make the opponent scared. While she's not too strong in the neutral, her pressure is extremely powerful, especially with meter as her command grab super is one of the strongest in the game. Good opponents will simply mash against I-No as a lot of her approaches tend to be fake, but better I-No players will dance back and forth in the neutral to whiff punish and make good reads. Difficult to play well but quite rewarding when things go your way, however it'll be frustrating to see so much of the rest of the cast simply play the game "normally" and succeed more consistently.
TL;DR - She literally wants to destroy the world and can be a nightmare to deal with. Whether she needs fixing is up to you.
Asuka has potential to be token guilty gear femboy if people force it enough as a meme. He got one femboy outfit mod before all the modders went over to SF6. maybe he'll get more after strive season 3. There's a budding audience for it

Outside of the FGC oriented competitive types, not many older GG players stuck around. None of my longtime fighting game buddies wanted to play the game at meetups after half a year with the game. There wasn't much enthusiasm near launch either as most just didn't like what ArcSys did with the system or the characters.

Went back, played the older games just to get a feel of how things progressed after falling into the abyss that the OST is. Get into Strive, its okay, servers suck, oh well, OST is banging.
Then Bridget. I try to play for a week or two after he's released, if I get challenged by bridget players, I decline out of spite and disgust, then some psychotic Bridget player spam reports me and Guilty Gear is now basically dead for me.
I've read that interview and part of me holds out that Daisuke is intentionally being misunderstood or he had other intentions with bridget, but he dropped the ball, hard, and I have no faith in him anymore.

Random woman (coincidentally Axl's girlfriend from another timeline) transported across dimensions and gone insane due to immense power, unchecked time travel, and possibly immortality. With no purpose in life, I-No wishes to bring humanity to the brink of extinction just to see how they might manage to survive and evolve past that point. I-No practically sees herself as a near-godlike being, or at least easily within that potential, and refuses to rest without finding a proper use of her status.
Gameplay wise, she uses a lot of dirty tricks and unconventional approaches to make the opponent scared. While she's not too strong in the neutral, her pressure is extremely powerful, especially with meter as her command grab super is one of the strongest in the game. Good opponents will simply mash against I-No as a lot of her approaches tend to be fake, but better I-No players will dance back and forth in the neutral to whiff punish and make good reads. Difficult to play well but quite rewarding when things go your way, however it'll be frustrating to see so much of the rest of the cast simply play the game "normally" and succeed more consistently.
TL;DR - She literally wants to destroy the world and can be a nightmare to deal with. Whether she needs fixing is up to you.
