Sold my Steam Deck and opted for the ROG Ally. Amazing handheld. Not only better screen & faster hardware but ability to play literally anything, not just Steam library. Any emulator (PS2, GameCube, X360, N64). Native Xbox Play Anywhere compatibility. Runs modern titles amazingly.
Should I cash in my skins on Steam and use the funds for a Steam Deck - then probably just sell the Deck. Or maybe gift it to my bro
Also I have an exam today bros, wish me luck
step aside
Reminder that if anybody recommends the Rog Ally without mentioning the sd card issue, they are being paid to shill here.
>Using sd cards
>When the nvme is user replaceable and the sd card issue is now reported as being a falseflag the day before the Steam Deck went on sale
lol. Good one moron.
Steam Deck was a useless device back the day it came out and didn't have basic shit like eGPU or a cpu capable of keeping up with the competition.
>the sd card issue is now reported as being a falseflag
That's not what your boss said, Pajeet.
ASUS already acknowledge that the SD card frying is an issue and they are investigating it.
people already have extra sd cards so it's kinda shitty if you can't use those and have to buy new shit just because the hardware has issues
deck at least looks like it's not designed by 13yo
Not having gyro is shit though
You could have googled it does in fact have gyro. Working in every game, with literally seconds of effort. Imagine playing games that need touchpads though. lmfao. Imagine pretending you can play anything released in the last 5 years at decent settings too lmfao. SD "playing" a game at 800p, lowest settings, 20fps.... is NOT PLAYING, sweaty.
Does it have gyro and touchpads yet? No? Why did you make this thread then?
Rog Ally may be able to run stuff
Steam Deck makes stuff PLAYABLE
I have one too, and I love it. Although the latest bios update and the SD card issue is a really bad look. The latter can't be fixed with a software update either. If nothing else, the Ally invalidates all the chink windows handhelds. They'll need to go back to lower cost android and Linux devices.
Asus is also chinese
i thought this thing was nuking sd cards?
and the armory launcher sometimes wouldnt see games?
and sometimes the windows toolbar just opens up in game and you have to tap the screen to make it go away?
>the windows toolbar just opens up in game and you have to tap the screen to make it go away
How is that an issue?
It randomly happens on PC too.
And it's easily fixable by tapping the screen, just as you said.
The first 2 problems you mentioned are way more serious. Let's focus on those.
>It randomly happens on PC too.
no it doesn't.
i've yet to see a glowing recommendation of the ally that doesn't have obvious marketing talking points, aggressive deck shittalking or wonky english in it
I mean...
Deck is only available in a few countries, so others that have to resort to buying Rog Ally are countries that speaks wonky english.
Didn't they ship youtubers and shills this console overclocked out of the box? And retail units naturally are performing worse compared to that?
The shills also only play it for a few hours at most, and wrote the review based on that.
They don't have the time to stress it enough to break it.
cant the Steam Deck emulate anything?
how are the buttons?

Sage
To me Aya Neo seems cool since it actually the size of Switch. But I don't need handhelds so I won't buy neither.
I have a question for those who follow tech news all the time.
Was there any precedent of hardware caused failures?
What did they do? Did they recall and come up with a revised version quickly?
What do you think ASUS will do if the sd card issue is indeed caused by their stupid design?
This kind of thing happens all the time with chink hardware, specifically SD readers
Usually it's improperly implemented voltage control
Judging by how asus treats their gaming hardware, its a cointoss. they will prob ditch the ally after a year and go straight for a refresh lmao. good news from that is ally's will be kinda cheaper second hand, bad news is that they will stop supporting it ig.
>after a year
You mean let the sd card issue ruin their reputation for a whole year?
Nobody will buy their refresh after that.
you will be very surprised, they still sell their gaming laptops and after one model gets a catastrophic issue they dump and go lol next. let me clarify. asus has no problems internally saying "this project fricking blows lets just cut our losses now, and start with something else that works" they will use the ally as a stepping stone to try again. and again. and again. and again. it doesn't even need to be the sd issue. like. their gaming laptops die generally within 9 fricking months. they dont care. they'll just move onto the next
Anon, this is ASUS we're talming about. They spent months exploding processors, then released a "beta" BIOS update to "fix" the issue that voided your warranty and broke a bunch of other shit.
Asus is one of the worst tech companies out there, right now, maybe on par with Gigabyte.
Asus Crosshair X670E Extreme motherboards (over 900€) make the CPU explode by applying the wrong voltages. Their response was an emergency BIOS update that voids the warranty. So yeah, avoid Asus if want stuff that works without setting itself on fire.
I'll just wait for Switch 2.
>Any emulator (PS2, GameCube, X360, N64).
Lmao homie Deck can do everything of these consuming LESS power while having same battery capacity.
Deck has a shittier screen and is incompatible with a frickton of games due to anti piracy bs on Linux. Ally runs windows
>Ally runs windows
noo, it runs super secret locked down OS, what are we going to do deck bros? not like we can just install this super secret OS on our portable computers!
The Rog Ally can run mgs4 at full speed with rpcs3, not to mention it can run switch games at a higher frame rate than the switch itself
thx 4 sharin
Ally sisters...Our response?
>software developer designed hardware better than decades old hardware manufacturer
>hardware manufacturer didn't even stress test hardware
>not a single reviewer spent more than a day with it
How does this even happen.
